David Wise
David LeRoy Wise, 85, of Belfair died July 31, 2000, at Naval Hospital Bremerton.
He was born Feb. 11, 1915, in Puposky, Minn., to David and Dora (Barton) Wise.
Mr. Wise served in the Army during World War II, achieving the rank of warrant officer. He received two Bronze Stars for bravery.
He married
Hazel Smith in September 1949. She preceded him in death in 1992.
He worked for the Bremerton City Street Department and for Mission Creek Youth Camp in Belfair.
Mr. Wise was a member of The Cactus Dodgers in Arizona and the Bremerton Round Squares.
Survivors include three sons, Robert of Missouri City, Texas, Raymond of San Diego, and David of Oakland, Ore.; a stepdaughter, Wanda M. Gamez of San Jose, Calif.; two sisters, Florence Williamson of Mountain View, Calif., and Blanche Habeck of Burleson, Texas; a brother, George of Fairbanks, Alaska; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a son, Robert; a stepson, Charles Tracy; a brother, Lloyd "Stub"; and two sisters, Bonnie and Pearl.
A funeral service is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A military graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Edna Holmes
Edna Mae Holmes, 83, of Bremerton died unexpectedly July 25, 2000, at her home.
She was born Jan. 28, 1917, in Wilcox, Neb., to James Perry Albert and Minnie Christine (Hansen) Ruhs. She attended Greenley County High School in Kansas.
She married
Phillip Holmes on June 25, 1933, in Syracuse, Kan. He preceded her in death in 1999.
Mrs. Holmes worked more than 30 years as a professional cook for the Bremerton School District and Olympic College.
She was a member of Kansas Club, West Side Improvement Club and the First Methodist Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include two sons, Phillip of Marysville and Stan of Bremerton; a daughter, Roseanne Holmes Overboe of Oxnard, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
A graveside service is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Henry Williams
Henry Emil Williams, 81, of Poulsbo died July 29, 2000, at Martha & Mary Health Care Center of a heart attack.
He was born Feb. 12, 1919, in Rollingbay, to Emil and Hilda Williams. He graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1937, and attended Metropolitan Business College and Washington Technical College, both in Seattle.
He married
Mary Jane McLachlan on June 6, 1942, in Seattle.
Mr. Williams worked for the Boeing Company for 20 years, retiring in 1981.
He enjoyed fishing and baseball. He was a member of the North Kitsap Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles of Granbury, Texas, and David of Bainbridge Island; three daughters, Martha Hubbard of Auburn, Nancy Rohr of Carnation and Susan Fong of Sequim; six grand-children; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at North Kitsap Baptist Church in Poulsbo.

John Oberdorf
John Larue Oberdorf, 52, of Bremerton died July 29, 2000, at his home.
He was born March 10, 1948, in Darby, Pa., to John and Ida Oberdorf. He attended high school in Philadelphia.
He married
Pamela Nendick on July 4, 1998, in CleElum.
Mr. Oberdorf served in the Army as an engineer. He received a Vietnam service medal.
He was a crane operator for more than 20 years, most recently at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
He enjoyed traveling and his family. He was a member of the Kitsap Lake Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Bremerton; his mother of Pennsylvania; a son, John Jr. of Napa, Calif.; two daughters, Jennifer Marshall of Napa and Jaime Daniel of Issaquah; a stepson, Michael Daniel of Issaquah; a stepdaughter, Davia Nendick of Bremerton; five sisters, Althea Lennox of Palm Harbor, Fla., Debbie Oberdorf of Pottstown, Pa., Elsie Oberdorf of La Mesa, Calif., and Janice Hughes and Beth Ann Oberdorf, both of Royersford, Pa.; a brother, Alan of Redding; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, David.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, also at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills cemetery in Bellevue.

Mary Sutherland
Former Port Orchard resident Mary E. Sutherland, 87, of Bainbridge Island died July 31, 2000, at Messenger House.
She was born July 14, 1913, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Homer and Myrtle (Carter) Pryor.
She was a nurse's aide in Minnesota and Montana for 12 years and for Welcome Wagon in Port Orchard for four years. She retired in 1952.
Survivors include a son, Wilfred Gibson of Seattle; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Sutherland in 1972; two brothers, Jess and Les Pryor; and a sister, Edna Rutter.
A graveside service is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Lane cemetery. Arrangements are by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Bok Soon Robinson
Bok Soon Robinson, 71, of Bremerton died of liver cancer July 30, 2000, at her home.
She was born Dec. 11, 1928, in Wonsan City, South Korea, to Si Lee and Chang Song Han.
She married
Walter F. Robinson on May 10, 1963, in Seoul, South Korea. He preceded her in death in 1987.
Mrs. Robinson was a housewife and enjoyed playing Bingo. She was a member of the Buddhist faith.
She is survived by a son, Robert of Bremerton; two daughters, Yun Hui Vehrs and Diane Robinson, both of Bremerton; and seven grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Il-Yong Drayton; a brother; and four sisters.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Sunday at the family home, 2918 Robin Ave. in Bremerton. Arrangements are by Kitsap Cremation and Burial Society.
Timothy Jordan
Former Kingston resident Timothy S. Jordan, 47, of Puyallup died July 29, 2000, in Puyallup.
He was born May 28, 1953, in Seattle to Woodrow and F. Jeanne (Foster) Jordan. He graduated from Sumner High School in 1971.
Mr. Jordan was a pipefitter at Union Oil Co. and Todd Shipyard.
He is survived by his mother of Tacoma; a son, Alexander of Kitsap County; a daughter, Rebecca of Kitsap County; two sisters, Deborah Jordan of Tacoma and Carey Ragan of Puyallup; and one granddaughter.
A memorial gathering will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Ragan residence.

Rayburn Lang
Rayburn D. Lang, 79, of Bremerton died July 25, 2000, in Vancouver, Wash., from complications following an emergency surgery.
He was born Oct. 21, 1920, in McClusky, N.D., to August and Katie Lang. He graduated from high school in McClusky and attended the University of North Dakota.
He married
Leola Pearson in 1943. She preceded him in death in 1985. He then married
Annabelle Mears in 1986 in Bremerton.
Mr. Lang served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He was a linotype operator for newspapers in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Washington. He retired in 1987 from The Sun.
He was a member of Family of God Lutheran Church in Bremerton.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Terry of Everett and Dayton of Bothell; a stepson, Danny Ingman of Tenino; a stepdaughter, Julie Ingman of Tracyton; three sisters, Verla Mills and Carol Hicks, both of Bremerton, and Elva Lang of Arizona; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Aug. 19 at Family of God Lutheran Church, on the corner of Fairgrounds Road and Central Valley Road.

Lottie Johnston
Lottie M. Johnston, 86, of Bremerton died of natural causes July 31, 2000, in Bremerton.
She was born March 17, 1914, in Norfolk, Va., to John and Nellie (Nucomb) Bramble.
She married
Charles M. Johnston on Sept. 18, 1943, in North Carolina.
Mrs. Johnston was a member of Manette Community Church and the Navy Fleet Reserve 310 Auxiliary in Silverdale. She enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by her husband; and a sister, Mildred Godfrey of Virginia Beach, Va.
A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Aug. 9 at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. Interment
will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Leona Stettler
Leona Verna Stettler, 82, of Bremerton died July 25, 2000, at her home.
She was born Feb. 16, 1918, in Lenore, Tenn., to Daniel and Manda (Morton) Brewster.
She married
Ivan Stettler on April 11, 1964, in Gorst. He preceded her in death in 1996.
Mrs. Stettler was a ship fitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 20 years, retiring in 1979.
She enjoyed fishing and camping.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Hansen of Gorst; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She also was preceded in death by a son, Charles Hansen; and a daughter, Betty Bennett.
A potluck remembrance is planned from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 26 at the family home in Gorst. Arrangements are by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home.
Michael Hoar
Michael Leonard Hoar, 53, of Kingston died July 27, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born May 8, 1947, in Renton to Foster and Laura (Running) Hoar. He graduated from Rainier Beach High School in 1965.
He married
Darlene Lund on Feb. 20, 1993, in Reno, Nev.
Mr. Hoar worked for Todd Shipyard for many years, then started his own business, Aztec Mechanical Contractors.
He enjoyed golfing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Brian of Renton and Ed of Hansville; a stepson, Michael Lund of Poulsbo; and one grandchild.
A gathering of family and friends is planned for 1 p.m. Aug. 19 at the Hoar residence. Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo.
