Emil Eggert
Former Port Orchard resident Emil R. Eggert, 93, of Port Ludlow died July 18, 2000, at Martha & Mary Health Care Center in Poulsbo.
He was born Aug. 7, 1906, in Aurora, Ill., to Ludwig W. and Maria (Nimmich) Eggert.
He married
Dorothy E. Miller on April 30, 1932, in Aurora.
Mr. Eggert worked as a machinist for more than 50 years, at Burlington Railroad, Southern Pacific Railroad, and Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He retired in 1975.
He was a member of Elim Lutheran Church in Port Orchard.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Robert of Buena Park, Calif., David of Omak, Wash., and John of Paradise, Calif.; three daughters, Nancy Lake of Pahoa, Hawaii, Mary Ronen of Port Ludlow, and Linda Pudwell of Kapaa, Hawaii; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by all 10 siblings.
Visitation is scheduled from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will follow. Interment
will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Alisha Petrie Ledford
Alisha Jo Petrie Ledford, 9 months old, of Poulsbo died July 18, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Oct. 28, 1999, in Tacoma to John Drew Ledford and Danielle Petrie.
She is survived by her parents; grandparents, Melinda Petrie of Poulsbo, and Mary and Donnie Ledford of Mineral, Wash. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, James Petrie, in 1995.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove. A funeral Mass of the Angels is planned for 3 p.m. today at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton. Interment
will take place following a procession to Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo.
Russell Hardwick
Russell Neil Hardwick, 76, of Retsil died July 15, 2000, at Washington Veterans Home of a heart attack.
He was born Oct. 31, 1923, in Harrah, to Glen and Ruth (Burgette) Hardwick. He attended Yakima High School in Yakima and Broadway High School in Seattle.
Mr. Hardwick served in the Navy from 1943 to 1952, achieving the rank of pharmacist's mate, third class. He received a United Nations Service Ribbon and a Korean Campaign Ribbon.
He married
Dorothy Elizabeth Patterson on June 3, 1947, in Seattle. She preceded him in death in 1984.
He worked for the federal government for 35 years, at both Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Seattle Port of Embarkation, retiring in 1978.
Mr. Hardwick enjoyed coaching and umpiring baseball games.
He is survived by a son, Glen Hardwick of Port Orchard; a daughter, Ann Kaufman of Normandy Park, Wash.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Tuesday at Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.

Andrew Hammond
Andrew Lee Hammond, 60, of Bremerton died July 16, 2000, at Washington Veterans Home of heart failure.
He was born Feb. 13, 1940, in Columbus, Ga., to the Reverend Emmanuel Hammond and Annie (Howard) Hammond. He graduated from Spencer High School in Columbus in 1959, Olympic College in 1978, and The Evergreen State College in 1980.
He served in the Navy from 1960 to 1968, achieving the rank of interior communications electrician 1st class.
Mr. Hammond worked as an electrician for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 23 years, retiring in 1983.
He enjoyed cooking and reading.
Survivors include one son, Andrew L. Hammond II of Bremerton; two stepsons, Brian and Bobby Driskell, both of Bremerton; a daughter, Andrea C. Smith of Bremerton; and three sisters, Carrie Davis, Katie Jones, and Annie Golden, all of Atlanta, Ga. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Emmanuel Jr. and David Hammond.
A memorial service is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Washington Veterans Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Lloyd Suhr
Lloyd M. Suhr, 92, of Port Orchard died July 15, 2000, at Port Orchard Care Center.
He was born Sept. 14, 1907, in Moorhead, Minn., to Thomas Agen Eberhard and Edith Electa (Andrews) Suhr.
He married
Margaret Ella Kennedy on April 2, 1929, in Grand Forks, N.D. She preceded him in death in 1989.
Mr. Suhr worked for Public Utility District No. 3 of Mason County for 19 years. He retired in 1969.
He was a member of Belfair Community Church and a charter member of the Masonic Lodge in Belfair.
Survivors include a son, Glen of York, Maine; a sister, Helen Moore of Boise, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances M. Harlan, in 1977.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. July 29 at the Masonic Temple in Belfair.
Geraldine Hood
Geraldine H. Hood, 85, of Bremerton died July 16, 2000, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center.
She was born June 23, 1915, in Scotland, S.D., to Sandar and Anna Ludeman.
She married
Howard H. Hood on Sept. 28, 1942 in Parker, S.D.
She taught in South Dakota schools and at Marion Avenue Elementary School in Bremerton.
Mrs. Hood enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family. She was a member of the Presbyterian church.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Donald of Bremerton and Howard of Port Orchard; a brother, Louis of Gresham, Ore.; and one grandson.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Monday at Lincoln Avenue Bible Church.

Violet Anderson
Violet M. Anderson, 71, of Port Orchard died July 11, 2000, in Bremerton of natural causes.
She was born June 20, 1929, in Hammond, Ind., to Othel and Bessie (Deal) Anderson. She graduated from South Kitsap High School and attended Olympic College.
She worked as a customer service representative for Puget Power.
She was a member of the Lutheran church.
Survivors include her foster father, Clifford Morris of Mesa, Ariz.; a foster brother, Dan Morris of Seabeck; and a foster sister, Joy Kirk of Whidbey Island. She was preceded in death by her foster mother, Olive Morris, in 1989.
There will be a family gathering at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.
Oscar Hooser
Former Bremerton and Port Orchard resident Oscar Woodrow Hooser, 87, of Heyburn, Idaho, died July 13, 2000, at Cassia Regional Medical Center in Heyburn.
He was born Nov. 25, 1912, in Vera, Texas, to William and Julie (Dickerson) Hooser.
He married
Ann Foster on Oct. 3, 1935, in Anaheim, Calif. She preceded him in death in 1987. He then married
Frances Moseley in 1989 in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Mr. Hooser worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and retired in 1975.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Woody S. Hooser of Port Orchard, Charles "Willie" Hooser of The Dalles, Ore., and Laurence "Lep" Moseley of Rupert, Idaho; three daughters, Anita Lorine Sutcliffe of Blaine, Lorraine Genzmer of Rupert, and Dixie Hitt of Cascade, Idaho; 11 granddaughters and 13 grandsons; 44 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Services were conducted on Monday at Hansen Mortuary Burley Chapel. Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A funeral service is planned for 2 p.m. that afternoon, also at Miller-Woodlawn. A potluck gathering of family and friends will be held at the Steadfast Masonic Temple, East 11th St. and Perry Ave., following the service.
James Randall
Former Bremerton resident James Bion Randall, 82, of Tenstrike, Minn., died July 15, 2000, at Meadowland Elder Care Center in Tenstrike of natural causes.
He was born July 22, 1917, in Clotho, Minn., to George and Elsie (Coller) Randall. He graduated from Tenstrike High School.
He served in the Army from 1941 to 1945, achieving the rank of sergeant.
Mr. Randall married
Norma Evelyn Johnson on April 19, 1947, in Bemidji, Minn.
He worked as a shipfitter for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 27 years, retiring in 1975.
He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed woodworking.
Survivors include his wife of Silverdale; three sons, Marvin of Bremerton, Clinton of Tenstrike, and Kelly of Saint Paul, Minn.; five daughters, Elaine Baldauf of Port Orchard, Marlene Barnum and Tina Baldschun, both of Seabeck, and Sandra Barnum and Diane Randall, both of Silverdale; one brother, LeRoy of Yuma, Ariz.; two sisters, Enola Bradseth of Tenstrike and Florence Mort of Bremerton; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Garold and Merrill.
A funeral service is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at Tenstrike Community Church, P.O. Box 67, Tenstrike, MN 56683.

Bud Hentila
Martin "Bud" Hentila, 80, of Port Orchard died July 16, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Dec. 3, 1919, in Seattle to Victor and Selma (Mustenen) Hentila. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1938 and from the mechanical engineering apprenticeship at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
Mr. Hentila married
Viola Schlupe on July 3, 1942, in Silverdale.
He served in the Navy during World War II, achieving the rank of machinists mate.
He worked as a mechanical engineer at PSNS for 30 years, retiring in 1973.
Mr. Hentila was a member of the Port Orchard Eagles.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Arlene Hoyer of Bremerton; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his brother, Carl.
Visitation is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A graveside service is planned for 2 p.m. Friday at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Daniel Chowning
Daniel L. Chowning, 44, of Bremerton died July 12, 2000, in Bremerton.
He was born Feb. 24, 1956, in San Diego, to Edwin and Doris (Fullerton) Chowning. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1974 and attended Olympic College.
Mr. Chowning was in the Navy's submarine service from 1974 to 1978, achieving the rank of electrician's mate, second class.
He enjoyed reading books.
He is survived by his companion, Kathy Kisska; his father and stepmother, Edwin and Marsha Chowning of Port Orchard; three brothers, Eldon Chowning of Wenatchee, Bryan Chowning of Poway, Calif., and James VanCleef of Port Orchard; and two sisters, Sylvia Collis of Port Orchard and Mary (VanCleef) Howisey of Everett. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1971.
A memorial service is planned for 7 p.m. tonight at St. Bede's Episcopal Church in Port Orchard. A graveside service will take place 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
