Bill Ramsdell Jr.
Former Port Orchard resident William L. "Bill" Ramsdell Jr., 75, of Sun City, Ariz., died June 13, 2000, of cancer.
He was born Jan. 29, 1925, in Grand Rapids, Minn., to William and Gladys (Shipman) Ramsdell. He graduated from high school in Grand Rapids in 1943.
Mr. Ramsdell served in the Navy from 1943 to 1945 as an aviation electrician.
He married
Ginny Judd on May 4, 1972, in Bremerton.
He was an equipment specialist in design at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 30 years, retiring in 1980.
Mr. Ramsdell was a member of Local 574, IBEW in Bremerton and the Clover Valley Golf Club in Port Orchard.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, William of Grover Beach, Calif., and Donald of San Diego; two stepsons, Judd King of Bremerton and Randy King of Issaquah; one daughter, Christine of Hawaii; two sisters, Idella of Minnesota and Betty of Alaska; and seven grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a hospice of the donor's choice.
Michael Jones
Michael A. Jones, 51, of Bremerton died June 16, 2000, in Bremerton of a sudden illness.
He was born Sept. 5, 1948, in Vallejo, Calif., to Jim and Faye (Evans) Jones. He graduated from Armijo High School in Fairfield, Calif., in 1966.
He married
Norma Hidalgo on Sept. 5, 1988, in New Orleans.
Mr. Jones had been office manager for Triton Marine in Bremerton for three years. Previously, he worked at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in California, retiring after 28 years.
He was a member of a group known as FOBOBD and enjoyed playing golf.
Survivors include his wife; his parents of Suisun, Calif.; two brothers, Tim and Pat, both of Los Angeles; and one sister, Carol of California.
A funeral service will be held in Fairfield.
A celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date in Bremerton. Arrangements are by Fairfield Funeral Home.
James Brumsickle
James Allen Brumsickle, 68, of Port Orchard died of cancer June 15, 2000, in Port Orchard.
He was born June 14, 1932, in Sunnyside to James and Allene (Binford) Brumsickle. He graduated from Camas High School in Camas in 1952.
Mr. Brumsickle served in the Navy from 1952 to 1972, achieving the rank of first class boiler tender.
He married
Wilma Lutz on March 5, 1962, in San Gabriel, Calif.
Mr. Brumsickle worked at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 20 years as a power plant operator, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of the William H. Upton Lodge 206 of Free and Accepted Masons. He enjoyed the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Susan Burrell of Bremerton, Stephanie Gornick of Pennsylvania and Sandra Anderson of Port Orchard; two brothers, Bill of Centralia and Gary of Kelso; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Masonic Temple in Bremerton. Inurnment will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Florence Bartleson
Florence Amanda Bartleson, 87, of Poulsbo died June 14, 2000, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center.
She was born Sept. 20, 1912, in White Earth, N.D., to Theodore and Tilda (Sunderland) Hegland and raised and educated in North Dakota.
On Sept. 8, 1936, she married
Helmar Arnold Bartleson in White Earth. He preceded her in death April 15, 1996.
Mrs. Bartleson attended teachers college and taught school in North Dakota until her marriage.
She was an active church member and enjoyed the arts.
Survivors include three sons Vance of Shoreline, Rod of Cutbank, Mont., and Warner of Tonasket; a sister, Agnes Haakenson of Bremerton; a brother Albert Hegland of Bremerton; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church of Poulsbo. Services will begin at 2 p.m. at the church with burial to follow at the church cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Macaria Robles
Macaria Robles, 77, of Bremerton died June 14, 2000, in Bremerton.
She was born Aug. 5, 1922, in Batangas, Philippines. She married
Alfonso Robles in November 1950 in the Philippines.
Mrs. Robles is survived by her husband; two sons, Armando and Francisco, both of Bremerton; two daughters, Sonia Pickering and Teresita Yap, both of Bremerton; and six grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home, with a rosary at 6:30 p.m., and at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, followed by a rosary at 10:30 a.m. and a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park, with a reception at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea. Rosaries will be said at 7 nightly in the family home through Friday.
Thelma Foster
Thelma C. (Tritt) Foster, 80, of Bremerton died June 14, 2000, in Bremerton from complications of a stroke.
She was born July 2, 1919, in Laurel, Md., to James and Frances Carrier.
She married
Gordon Foster. He preceded her in death in 1980.
She was a member of Gold Star Mothers and enjoyed playing cards. She also was a member of the Monaca United Methodist Church in Monaca, Pa.
Survivors include a son, David Tritt of Darlington, Pa.; a daughter, Betty Schenk of Bremerton; a brother, Edward Carrier of Rochester, Pa.; a sister, Laverne Couch of Rivervale, Ark.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a brother, James Carrier, and by a son, James Tritt.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Monaca United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at Clinton cemetery in Wampum, Pa.

Howard Watson Jr.
Erven "Howard" Watson Jr., 75, of Port Orchard died June 14, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born June 15, 1924, in Iola, Kan., to Erven and Nancy (Smoot) Watson. He attended South Kitsap schools.
He married
Irene Bjorkheim on Sept. 5, 1947, in Port Orchard.
Mr. Watson served in the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945. He worked for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 31 years as a shipfitter, retiring in 1973.
He was a member of the Port Orchard Eagles and the Retired Eagles Activity Club.
Mr. Watson is survived by his wife; one son, Michael of Port Orchard; two daughters, Peggy Blowers and Kathy Peterson, both of Port Orchard; one sister, Joyce Robinett of Riddle, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marian Riggs.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Tuesday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. Inurnment will take place at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Nels Nelson
Elledwood E. "Nels" Nelson, 73, of Olalla died June 15, 2000, in Tacoma.
He was born July 8, 1926, in Olympia.
Mr. Nelson served in the Army during World War II. He worked for Spadoni Brothers in Gig Harbor and owned Nels Auto Repair.
He was a member of the Gig Harbor Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Gig Harbor Eagles.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Kupka) Nelson of Olalla; eight daughters, Patricia Carrier of Alaska, Beverly Stallman of Bangor, Gloria Detrick of Texas, Gail of Cheney, Robin Reeder of Utah, Kimberly Vant of Olalla, Kathleen Allaway of Port Orchard and Kandice Fuller of Home; one brother, Darrell of Spanaway; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Friday at Life Lutheran Church in Port Orchard. Interment
took place at Haven of Rest Memorial Park in Gig Harbor.

Williene Harris
Hazel Williene Harris, 63, of Bremerton died June 14, 2000, at her home of a heart attack.
She was born Feb. 21, 1937, in Shelton to John W. and Hazel C. (Barrick) Weatherill. She graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1956 and attended Olympic College.
She married
Al Harris on May 18, 1960, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
She worked as a right-of-way agent with Puget Power for 26 years, retiring in 1995.
She was a member of Ladies of Elks in Bremerton and the Snow Creek Community Homeowners Association in Port Townsend.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Randy of Chula Vista, Calif.; one daughter, Becky Stanford of Poulsbo; one brother, Rick Weatherill of Poulsbo; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Weatherill, in 1998.
Visitation is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Monday also at Lewis Funeral Chapel, with a private committal following at Forest Lawn cemetery, along with a reception at the Harris home.

James Turner
James Hite Turner, 66, of Port Orchard died June 14, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born April 5, 1934, to Frank and Esther (McCoshum) Turner in Grants Pass, Ore. He graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1952.
Mr. Turner served in the Navy from 1952-1954 as a seaman. He worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a tool and die maker, retiring in 1984.
He is survived by three sisters, Florence and Lavina Turner, both of Bellevue, and Edwina Cappuccio of Eagle Point, Ore.
At the request of his family there will be no services. Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Crematory with inurnment at his family plot in Grants Pass. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

John Svedberg
John Svedberg, 54, of Bremerton died June 4, 2000, at Harrison Hospital of a heart attack.
He was born on March 17, 1946, to Reynold and Evelyn Svedberg in Tacoma. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1965.
He married
Mary Zembal on July 25, 1980, in Port Orchard.
Mr. Svedberg worked at the Naval Supply Center in Bremerton for 20 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Bremerton Eagles and the Port Orchard Eagles. He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton.
He is survived by his wife; two brothers, Charles and Ron, both of Bremerton; and two sisters, Sharon Eggert of Omak and Marilyn Hicks of Belfair. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. July 29 at the Eagles in Bremerton. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.
