DuWayne Neville
DuWayne A. Neville, 90, of Sequim died May 17, 2000, at Martha & Mary Health Care Center in Poulsbo of natural causes.
He was born June 15, 1909, in Great Falls, Mont., to Harry and Lulu (Taylor) Neville.
Mr. Neville served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945 as a private first class. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, and also was awarded a medal of good conduct.
He married Gladys Baker in 1947 in Vancouver, Wash. She preceded him in death in 1992.
Mr. Neville worked for 65 years as an upholsterer, retiring in 1970.
He is survived by one son, Larry of Poulsbo; one daughter, Laurie (Neville) Novotny; and two grandchildren.

Charlie Rice
Charlie E. Rice, 79, of Bremerton died June 7, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Feb. 20, 1921, in Cochise County, Ariz., to Monroe and Helena (Harper) Rice. He attended high school in California.
Mr. Rice served in the Navy from 1942 to 1948, as a seaman. His military honors included the Asiatic Pacific Medal and the American Area Medal.
He married Bernice Barber on Oct. 1, 1949, in California. She preceded him in death in 1998.
Mr. Rice owned and operated an auto wrecking yard for 27 years, retiring in 1979.
He is survived by a nephew, Jerry Barber of Port Orchard; and a niece, Joan Rambo of Santa Ana, Calif.

Bill Haugen
William A. "Bill" Haugen, 86, of Bremerton died June 8, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Jan. 13, 1914, in Poulsbo, to Chris and Trina (Guljord) Haugen. He attended high school in Poulsbo.
He married Betty L. Jenner on Nov. 18, 1938 in Poulsbo. She preceded him in death in 1997.
Mr. Haugen worked at the Keyport Naval Torpedo Station for 25 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1974.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by one daughter, Sharon Huber of Kent; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment icon will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Bob Kembel
Robert Carl "Bob" Kembel, 67, of Bremerton died June 8, 2000, at his home from long-term kidney and vascular disease.
He was born Nov. 13, 1932, in Tacoma, to Carl and Maxine (Hamilton) Kembel. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma in 1950, from Olympic College in Bremerton in 1957 and from a pipefitter apprenticeship at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1957.
He married Lilyann Hakanson on May 6, 1952 in Puyallup.
Mr. Kembel worked at PSNS as an engineering technician for 37 years, retiring in 1987.
He enjoyed recreational vehicle travel and spending time with friends.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, Maxine Pottorff of Gig Harbor; three daughters, Roberta Winslow of Silverdale, Sandra Barcheck of Bremerton and Patricia Merwick of Bothell; two sisters, Carlene Tutton of Auburn, Calif. and Bonnie Dunbar of Stanwood; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Marshall Kembel and Ronald J. Johnson.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.

Robert Belcher
Robert John Belcher, 73, of Port Orchard died June 4, 2000, in Port Orchard of a heart attack.
He was born Feb. 26, 1927 in Kansas City, Mo., to George W. and Nadine (Spears) Belcher. He was a high school graduate.
He married Alberta Mae Rowe on May 14, 1987, in Big Bear, Calif. She preceded him in death in 1996.
Mr. Belcher served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He later worked as a truck driver for many years.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union and a supporter of animal rights.
Survivors include one sister, Alma Hughes of Tipton, Iowa; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Porter and a son, Robert George Belcher.
A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Monday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel, with interment at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Keith Evans
Keith Edwin Evans, 74, of Seabeck died June 6, 2000 at Harrison Hospital of adult respiratory distress syndrome.
He was born July 18, 1925, in Parsons, West Va., to Marvin and Hazel Evans. He graduated from Parsons High School and from Davis and Elkins College in Elkins, W. Va.
Mr. Evans served in the Army from 1943 to 1946, achieving the rank of sergeant. His military honors included the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal with three bronze stars and the Philippine Liberation Medal (Luzon, Philippines) with one bronze star.
He worked as a civil engineer with the Department of the Air Force for 45 years, retiring in 1988.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rose Evans. He is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline R. Evans of Seabeck.
A memorial service is planned for 4 p.m. Monday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Irene Goodley
Irene D. Goodley, 92, of Bremerton died June 8, 2000, in Bremerton after an extended illness.
She was born July 18, 1907, in London, England, to Frederick and Eliza (Churchley) Hammel.
She married William Henry Goodley on Oct. 2, 1934, in London. He preceded her in death in 1978.
She became a nurse prior to World War II. During the war, she worked in the London Post Office, returning to nursing after the war.
She was a member of Senior Outreach of Bremerton and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include her twins, Trevor of Chula Vista, Calif. and Thelma "T" Ortiz of Bremerton; two sisters, Ethel Thorn of Chiselhurst, Kent, England and Violet Sparrow of Walthamstow, London, England; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Visitation is scheduled for 2 to 5 p.m. Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A funeral service is planned for 2 p.m. June 17 also at Miller-Woodlawn, with entombment at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to Arthritis Foundation of Western Washington, 3876 Bridge Way North 300, Seattle, WA 98103.

June Sulkosky
June Darlene Sulkosky, 63, of Bremerton died June 6, 2000, at Forest Ridge Health and Reha-bilitation Center.
She was born June 30, 1936, in Mitchell, S.D. She graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma in 1953.
She married Ronald L. Sulkosky on Aug. 7, 1954 in Tacoma.
She was a member of Silver United Methodist Church and the Silverdale United Methodist Church Women. She enjoyed singing.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Ronald Jr. of Port Orchard, Steven of Poulsbo and David of Seabeck; one daughter, Sherry L. Doyle of Seabeck; two brothers, Donald Anderson of Tacoma and Verdon Anderson of Pennsylvania; three sisters, Anita Daugherty of Tacoma, Wilma Avellar of Lakewood and Carolyn Anderson of Puyallup; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home and a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Irene Aseltine
Irene Betty Aseltine, 64, of Bremerton died May 28, 2000, at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Oct. 16, 1935, in Port Angeles to Carl and Lilly (Wilcox) Christenson. She attended Sequim High School.
She married James Aseltine on July 26, 1962, in Tacoma.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Nick Nichols, Jerry Nichols of Port Angeles, and Tom Nichols and Arnie Aseltine, both of Bremerton; two daughters, Anita and Linda Aseltine, both of Bremerton; four sisters, Ovetta Steillicom and Margaret Guthrie, both of Port Angeles, and Rosie Peterson and Lorraine Romo, both of Shelton; three brothers, Kenny Christenson and Myles, both of Port Angeles and Alfred Christenson; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
No service is planned. Burial took place at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

James Ashburn
James Vernon Ashburn, 78, of Kingston died June 6, 2000, in Kingston of heart and kidney failure.
He was born Aug. 3, 1921, in Joiner, Ark., to William Harrison and Minnie (Holliday) Ashburn.
He married Bettyjane Logsdon on Nov. 11, 1946. She preceded him in death in 1974.
Mr. Ashburn served in the Navy from 1942 to 1952, achieving the rank of machinist's mate first class.
He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for over 20 years, retiring in 1986.
Mr. Ashburn was a Mason and a Shriner. He was also a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors include one son, James Vernon Ashburn II of Vancouver, Wash.; two daughters, Linda Jo Abbey of Spokane and Lynette Jane Ashburn-Feldbush of Kingston; one brother, Harry Newton Ashburn of Lakeview Terrace, Calif.; one sister, Mary Nell Crawson of Temple City, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Cremation is under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove.

Mandie Peters
Mandie Peters, 85, of Bremerton died May 31, 2000, at Harrison Hospital of cancer.
She was born July 20, 1914, in Fayal Township, Minn., to Mike and Mary (Sarich) Pavelich. She graduated from Eveleth High School in Eveleth, Minn. in 1932, and from Eveleth Junior College in 1934.
She married John W. "Pete" Peters on May 31, 1956, in South Beloit, Ill. He preceded her in death in 1992.
Mrs. Peters worked for Abbott Labs in Chicago for 18 years and later for Special Services at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as caretaker for Camp McKean on Kitsap Lake for over 22 years. She retired in 1979.
She enjoyed gardening and taking care of family and friends. She had been a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include one daughter, Doris Baxter of Bremerton; one brother, Frank Pavelich of Eveleth; two sisters, Ki Pavelich of Ottumwa, Iowa and Ann Pavelich of Bremerton; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Tom, John and Joe Pavelich and by a sister, Fran Plesha.
A picnic in remembrance of Mandie is planned for July 15. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 2383, Bremerton 98310.

Molly Redmond
Madeline E. "Molly" Redmond, 94, of Bremerton died June 4, 2000, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center in Bremerton of natural causes.
She was born Aug. 31, 1905, in Snohomish, to Ralph and Lizzie (Plate) Rickard. She graduated from Snohomish High School in 1922.
She married Carl Redmond on March 26, 1925, in Snohomish. They were divorced in 1951.
She worked for Westinghouse in Seattle for eight years. She retired in 1961.
She enjoyed watching the Mariners and playing bingo.
Survivors include one daughter, Janyce Anderson of Federal Way; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her former husband, a son, Richard, and two sisters, Berenice Vosgien and Jesse Gemmer.
A private family memorial service is planned for July. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
