Sherman Smith
Sherman Smith, 94, of Olalla died May 26, 2000, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation of Oyster Bay.
He was born Feb. 27, 1906, in Kildare, Texas, to John and Endie (Johnson) Smith.
He married
Dollie Whestone on July 15, 1926, in Kildare. She preceded him in death in 1982.
He was a retired minister with the Church of God in Toppenish, where he had also been a member. He previously had farmed in Yakima County for 48 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Ellie Myers of Olalla and Ethel Hunter of Vancouver; one sister, Hattie May Allen of Los Angeles; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Estella Elliott, in 1992.
At his request, there will be no services. Arrangements are by Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Donna Blancaflor
Donna (Nicol) Blancaflor, 60, of Port Orchard died May 28, 2000, at her home.
She was born June 7, 1939, in Assumption, Ill., to John and Mary (Boliard) Nicol.
She graduated from Assumption High School in 1957. She worked at the Fireman's Fund Insurance Co. and Standard Oil of Hawaii, retiring in 1991 after 27 years. She enjoyed traveling.
She married
Daniel Blancaflor on Nov. 21, 1974, in Las Vegas.
Survivors include her husband; and two brothers, Carl Nicol of Assumption and Ronald Nicol of Talorville, Ill. She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
A graveside service will be held at Pleasant View cemetery in Illinois. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Jack Warner
Jack Warner, 84, of Port Orchard died May 27, 2000, at Port Orchard Care Center.
He was born July 12, 1915, in Topeka, Kan., to Ansel and Mabel (Rice) Warner. He graduated from Longford High School in Longford, Kan., in 1934.
Mr. Warner served in the Army from 1941 to 1945. He was a technical sergeant fourth class.
He married
Louise M. Stout Osburn on May 8, 1970, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
He had owned a Chevron station in Kennewick. He was retired. Mr. Warner enjoyed billiards and bowling.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dennis of Orting and Mike of Kennewick; one daughter, Jackie of Seattle; one stepson, Robert Lee McKenna of Belfair; one stepdaughter, DeLee Greene of Port Orchard; and nine grandchildren.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Virginia Bowen
Former Silverdale resident Virginia L. Bowen, 77, of Kent died May 23, 2000, in Federal Way of pneumonia.
She was born April 10, 1923, in Silverdale to Dan and Helen Radovich.
She graduated from Silverdale High School.
She married
Oscar T. Bowen in 1940. He preceded her in death in 1977.
Survivors include one son, Robert of Kent; one daughter, Helen of Burien; one sister, Alena Brinker of Bremerton; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
At her request, no services will be held. Memorial donations may be sent to the Silverdale Fire Department.
Helen Hudson
Helen N. Hudson, 97, of Bremerton died May 28, 2000, in Bremerton.
She was born Dec. 8, 1902, in Brooklyn, N.Y., . to Mortimer E. and Emma E. (Hollis) Newcomb. She graduated from Elmira College in Elmira, N.Y., in 1924.
She married
Augustus Hudson on Nov. 4, 1934. He preceded her in death in 1989.
She was a homemaker. She had been a member of the American Association of University Women and the PEO Sisterhood.
She is survived by a nephew, Peter Newcomb of Puyallup.
Private inurnment will be held at Forest Lawn cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Florence Bishop
Florence Bishop, 92, of Bremerton died May 28, 2000 in Bremerton.
She was born Oct. 25, 1907 in Newton, Kan. She attended Newton High School and a junior college in Newton.
She married
Harold Bishop in Pratt, Kan. He preceded her in death in 1974.
She was a member of the Episcopal church.
She is survived by one grandson. She was preceded in death by one son, Bill Bishop.
There will be a graveside inurnment in Arkansas City, Kan. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Barbara Busby
Barbara M. Busby, 64, of Port Orchard died May 29, 2000 at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation of Oyster Bay.
She was born Sept. 24, 1935 in Tampa, Fla. to Robert and Waneta (McQuaig) Norris.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Andrew White of Olalla and James Godfrey of Texas; two daughters, Gayle Norris and Pam Gagliano, both of New Jersey; and one brother Ron Norris of Elizabeth Town, N.C.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Florence Parpart
Florence Roberta Parpart, 80, of Silverdale died May 28, 2000, in Silverdale.
She was born March 25, 1920, in Rugby, N.D., to Charles H. Rohrer and Katie A. Clark.
She graduated from Rugby High School in 1938. She worked for J.C. Penney Co. Inc. for 12 years and The Boeing Co. until her retirement in 1980. She enjoyed bingo and collected bears. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one son, Terry of Enumclaw; two daughters, Patricia Thurman and Susan Parpart, both of Silverdale; one brother, Charles Rohrer of Billings, Mont.; one sister, Ella Welch of North Dakota; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and eight brothers.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment
will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Dick Smith
Richard Warren "Dick" Smith, 74, of Poulsbo died May 26, 2000, in Bremerton after a long illness.
He was born May 30, 1925, in Minneapolis to Forrest Erwin and Bessie Roxie (Walker) Smith Sr. He graduated from Silver City High School in Silver City, Iowa, in 1943, and attended Universal Trade School in Kansas City, Mo.
Mr. Smith served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946, achieving the rank of seaman first class. His military honors included the Asiatic Pacific Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He married
Marjorie Ruwe on Nov. 30, 1946, in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
He worked as a pipefitter/steamfitter with Local 631 for more than 30 years, retiring in 1985.
Mr. Smith enjoyed bowling and carpentry.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard of Puyallup and Douglas of Poulsbo; two daughters, Susan Anderson of Des Moines, Iowa, and Cynthia Smith of Poulsbo; one brother, Charles of Temecula, Calif.; one sister, Elizabeth Stolarz of Omaha, Neb.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Forrest Smith Jr. in 1952.
A graveside service is planned for 1 p.m Friday at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent. Arrangements are by Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Maggie Ryno Sawin
Marguerite "Maggie" Ryno Sawin, 84, of Poulsbo died May 26, 2000, in Atlanta.
She was born July 24, 1915, in Rushville, Neb., to Guy Bert and Clara (Johnson) Ryno.
She married
Richard H. Sawin in 1940 in Sioux Falls, S.D. He preceded her in death in 1979.
Mrs. Sawin was a secretary for Hilder Pearson Elementary School in Poulsbo for more than 25 years, retiring in 1978.
She is survived by two daughters, Winnie Rich of Hansville and Bonnie Hanson of Stone Mountain, Ga.; one brother, Maynard Ryno of Boise, Idaho; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 12:15 p.m. Saturday at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment
will take place at Forest Lawn cemetery.
MaryAnn Kalmbach
MaryAnn Kalmbach, 52, of Port Ludlow died May 29, 2000, at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle.
She was born Aug. 13, 1947, in Bremerton to Victor and Gladys (Edie) Bilden.
She graduated from West High School in Bremerton in 1965.
She was a computer programmer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 20 years, until retiring in 1996.
She enjoyed playing the piano and cross stitching. She was a member of West Sound Community Church.
Survivors include her mother; one son, Thom of Renton; one daughter, Kristin (Kalmbach) Halsted of Port Ludlow; one brother, Bob Bilden of Gainesville, Fla.; one sister, Vicki (Bilden) Pasquali of Hopatcong, N.J.; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Sylvan Way Baptist Church in Bremerton.
Memorial donations may be sent to Swedish Medical Center Tumor Institute in Seattle.
Do Do Bisping
Dolores L. "Do Do" Bisping, 83, of Bremerton died of heart failure May 30, 2000, at Belmont Terrace.
She was born Sept. 27, 1916, in Fairbault, Minn., to Henry and Anna Larson.
She married
Martin Bisping on July 20, 1940, in Fairbault. He preceded her in death in 1975.
She enjoyed child care and needlework. She was a member of Central Kitsap Presbyterian Church
Survivors include two sons, Richard of Bremerton and Russell of Kennewick; three brothers, Harry Larson of Missouri, Tom Larson of Fairbault and David Larson of Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Grayce Anderson of Seattle and Jane Tatge of Fairbault; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Anderson.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Parker-Kohl Funeral Home in Fairbault. Interment
will follow.
