Dorine Porter
Dorine G. Porter, 70, of Belfair died May 14, 2000, at her home of natural causes.
She was born Aug. 13, 1929, in Wenatchee to Glen and Myrtle (Hutt) Bruce. She grew up in Seattle.
She married
Richard A. "Dick" Porter on Jan. 6, 1951, in Seattle. He preceded her in death this year.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Donald and David, both of Belfair; and two grandchildren, Lacey and Cameron, both of Belfair.
At her request, no service will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Virginia Hentz
Virginia Mary Hentz, 78, of Bremerton died May 11, 2000, at her home of natural causes.
She was born Aug. 24, 1921, in Wappingers Falls, N.Y., to Joseph and Mary Demers. She grew up in Wappingers Falls, attending high school there.
She married
George R. Hentz on Sept. 21, 1947, in New York.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, George Jr. and James, both of Bremerton, Ronnie of Port Orchard and Earl of Texas; two daughters, AnnMarie of Bremerton and Lotus Parkstone of California; one sister, Anna Temple of Wappingers Falls; nine grandchildren, Sheri and Jesse Hentz, both of Bremerton, Michael, Chris and Kerri, all of Port Orchard, Danielle Wallibeg of Idaho, Jeffrey Hentz of Vancouver and Steven and Robert Parkstone, both of California; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Dianne Bowes
Dianne M. Bowes, 57, of Kingston died May 12, 2000, in Bremerton.
She was born March 1, 1943, in Providence, R.I., to Francis and Ethel McFarland. She was raised in Cranston, R.I., attending Rhode Island College from 1961 to 1965.
She married
Martin E. Bowes on April 3, 1971, in Port Angeles.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Sarah Horton and Amanda, both of Seattle, and Morgana of Oregon; and one sister, Mary Jaras of New York.
A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel, followed with a 2 p.m. committal service at Ocean View cemetery in Port Angeles.

Lily Hand
Lily Bell Hand, 88, of Bremerton died May 12, 2000, in Bremerton.
She was born Feb. 7, 1912, in Roseburg, Ore., to L.Z. and Ella (Philly) Haviland. She graduated from high school in Sutherland, Ore.
She married
Oswald "Bud" Hand in Oakland, Ore. He preceded her in death in 1970.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Covenant Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include four daughters, Barbara Hahn of Port Orchard, Clara Winchester of Whittier, Calif., Mildred Roo of Bellingham and Marlene Erickson of Sequim; one brother, Elza Haviland of Freewater, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-
grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Frank Haviland.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Covenant Church. Burial of the ashes will be in Roseburg. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel, with cremation by Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo.
Thomas Beckley
Thomas K. Beckley, 74, of Port Orchard died May 14, 2000, at his home of natural causes.
He was born Nov. 15, 1925, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Thomas and Rosalie Beckley. He grew up in Honolulu, graduating from Roosevelt High School there.
Mr. Beckley served in the Army Air Corps from 1945 to 1949.
He married
Nancy A. Hill on Oct. 25, 1962, in Reno, Nev.
He was a shipfitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 37 years, retiring in 1981.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Thomas of Renton and Jamie of Kent; two daughters, Bonnie Geister and Cheryl, both of Port Orchard; one sister, Anita Webber of Kakaha, Kaui, Hawaii; and two grandchildren, Amie and Kayla Geister.
A family gathering is planned for 2 p.m. Friday at the home of Nancy Beckley in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Susan Martin
Susan Debbie (Johnson) Martin, 44, of Bremerton died May 3, 2000, in Salt Lake City following a seizure. She had been a resident of Bremerton for the past 10 years.
She was born Nov. 14, 1955, in Seattle. She grew up in Seattle, graduating from Decatur High School in Federal Way in 1974.
As a child, she was a member of the Bluebirds and had been a member of Greenpeace in the 1970s.
Survivors include her companion of 18 years, Debbie Harris; her parents, Astrid and Steve Grimsby of Auburn; her twin daughters, Mackenzie and Lyndsey; one sister, Pam of Washington; and three brothers, Bill, Steve and Jeff, all of Washington. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents.
A celebration of her life for family and friends is planned for 2 p.m. Monday in Kent. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Evergreen Washelli cemetery in Seattle.
Those wishing to honor Susan's memory may do so by volunteering their time to teach the learning disabled and non-English speaking to read or by assisting at food banks.
Richard Setten
Richard Lee Setten, 59, of Bremerton died May 12, 2000, in Bremerton.
He was born Sept. 28, 1940, in Stephen, Minn., to Julius and Florence (Jendersek) Setten. He grew up in St. Cloud, Minn., and graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School.
He served in the Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962, stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif., and in Okinawa, Japan.
Mr. Setten retired from the Bremerton School District after 10 years as a bus driver. He also worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Kitsap Transit and the Bremerton Transit Co.
He was active in the American Legion Post 68, Peace Lutheran Church and Pee Wee baseball. He also served as an assistant coach for a girls' softball team in Tracyton in 1977 and 1978.
He is survived by a daughter, Kim Darnielle of Bremerton; a son, Rick of Bremerton; two brothers, Jerry of Minnesota and William of Arizona; and four grandchildren, Kyle Setten of Bremerton and Benjamin, Joshua and Tatiana Blankenship of Port Orchard. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jodi Sue Setten, on April 28, 1987.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Lynn Mueller
Lynn C. Mueller, 80, of Poulsbo died May 9, 2000, at Harrison Hospital of a heart attack.
He was born Jan. 12, 1920, in Cass County, N.D., to Leopold Charles and Thelma (Lindemann) Mueller.
He married
Leona Ahmann on Feb. 21, 1941.
Mr. Mueller served in the Navy. He was stationed on Okinawa Island, Japan until the end of World War II.
After the war, he returned to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard where he was a pipefitter until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry of Poulsbo and Del of Suquamish; two daughters, Jean Grondahl of Marrowstone Island and Valorie Jones of Ozark, Ala.; three brothers, Dale of La Plata, Md., Earl of Libby, Mont., and Gary of Shelton; one sister, Enid Mueller Eytel of Bremerton; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Del, by a brother, Ward, and by a sister, Ruth Schauer.
Visitation is scheduled for noon to 5 p.m. Monday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, with interment at Sedgwick cemetery in Port Orchard.
Eugene Peterson
Former Bremerton resident Eugene Harold Peterson, 74, of Vancouver, Wash., died May 10, 2000, at his home.
He was born June 30, 1925, in Valley City, N.D., to Lawrence and Lillian (Chisholm) Peterson. He grew up in Bremerton, graduating from Bremerton High School.
Mr. Peterson served in the Army for one year in 1943. He was a private stationed at Fort Lewis.
He married
Shirley Gillespie on June 30, 1945.
He was a marine electrician at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring after 31 years.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Terry of Port Orchard, Craig of Biola, Calif., and Michael and Steven, both of Bremerton; one brother, Jerry of Long Beach, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service is planned for 2 p.m. Monday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home, with private interment at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home in Vancouver.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
'Kay' Holtry
Martha "Kay" Holtry, 93, of Bremerton died May 11, 2000, at Martha and Mary Health Care Center in Poulsbo.
She was born Dec. 28, 1906, in Omaha, Neb., to Benjamin and Della (Black) Campbell. She was raised in South Dakota.
She worked as a laboratory technician at Washington State University for many years. She was retired.
She married
Lewis Holtry. He preceded her in death in 1977.
She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Airstream Club and a garden club.
Visitation will be at noon Tuesday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment
will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Dick Porter
Richard A. "Dick" Porter, 70, of Belfair died May 9, 2000, at his home.
He was born March 2, 1930, in Seattle to Elverne and Lucille Porter. He grew up in Seattle, graduating from Lincoln High School there in 1948.
He married
Dorine Bruce on Jan. 6, 1951, in Seattle.
Mr. Porter served in the National Guard.
He had been self-employed as a traffic consultant, operating Pacific Traffic Bureau. He was retired.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, David and Don, both of Belfair; and two grandchildren, Lacey and Cameron, both of Belfair.
At his request, there will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
