Bernice Grubbe
Bernice Iowa Grubbe, 76, of Bremerton died April 22, 2000, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Chester, Mont., to Norval and Clara Nelson. She grew up in Ferndale, Mont., graduating from high school there.
She married
Francis Grubbe on Aug. 26, 1997, at Kitsap Lake in Bremerton.
Mrs. Grubbe had worked at the Keyport Naval Torpedo Station during World War II, later becoming a homemaker.
She was a member of Hillcrest Assembly of God and recently had been attending Navy Yard City Bible Church.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Clyde Meyer of Los Angeles; one daughter, Carolyn Freitas of Seattle; two brothers, Leon Nelson of Big Fork, Mont., , and Edward Nelson of Polson, Mont.; and three sisters, Evelyn and Echo Larson, both of Eureka, Mont., and Margie Ortman of Somers, Mont.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Friday at Navy Yard City Bible Church, with private interment at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Allen Conner
Allen H. Conner, 80, of Port Orchard died April 25, 2000, in Bremerton of natural causes.
He was born Nov. 28, 1919, in Breckenridge, Texas, to Emery and Cassie (Lambert) Conner. He graduated from Hobbs High School in Hobbs, N.M., in 1936.
He married
Vivian Mattson on April 8, 1942, in Seattle.
Mr. Conner served in the Coast Guard. He worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, retiring in 1976.
He was a Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Eagles.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Richard Conner of California; three daughters, Colleen Huff of Spokane, Kathy Longthorpe of Seattle and Kelly Greene Diebolt of Port Orchard; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeff Stockler, of Seattle.
At his request, there will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made in the form of a blood donation to a local blood bank of the donor's choice.
Richard Dillon
Richard B. Dillon, 56, of Port Orchard died April 18, 2000, in Port Orchard.
He was born May 6, 1943, in Rawlins, Wyo., to Vincent and Grace (Snyder) Dillon. He was a high school graduate and had attended one year of college.
Mr. Dillon served in the Navy, retiring from the Naval Reserve with 20 years of service.
Following his naval career, he worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard until his retirement. He also was a commissioner for the Annapolis Water District and had sold real estate locally.
Mr. Dillon was past president of the Port Orchard Lions Club and a member of the Eagles.
Survivors include his mother of Phoenix; one son, Richard Jr. of Bremerton; one daughter, Elizabeth; and one brother, Michael of Palmer, Alaska. His father preceded him in death.
At his request, there will be no services. He wished to be cremated and to have his cremated remains buried at sea by the Navy. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Virginia Harvey
Virginia Lincoln Harvey, 77, of Poulsbo died April 25, 2000, at Martha & Mary Health Care Center. She had been a resident of Kitsap County since 1979.
She was born July 18, 1922, in South Kingstown, R.I., to Harry and Mary Ellen Harvey. She received a bachelors degree in fabric design from the Rhode Island School of Design and later a master's degree in weaving.
She taught at the Rhode Island School of Design, worked as a fabric designer and color specialist with the Bates Company in New York City, and later became an associate professor at the University of Nebraska. In retirement, she taught in elder hostels.
She is survived by a brother, Donald Harvey of Port Gamble.
At her request, there will be no services. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
Red Myers
Maurice "Red" Myers, 82, of Bremerton died April 25, 2000, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born June 23, 1917, in Corry, Pa., to Daniel and Louise (Wetmore) Myers. He grew up in Washington, attending school in Puyallup, moving to Bremerton while in junior high school and graduating from Bremerton High School in 1936.
He married
Jeannette Hansen on June 12, 1937, in Shelton.
Mr. Myers served in the Army from 1946 to 1948, stationed in Japan.
He completed an apprenticeship at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring as a planner/estimator in 1970, after 31 years of government service.
Mr. Myers was a member of Eagles Lodge 1181, Steadfast Lodge 216, American Legion Post 68 and the Bremerton Yacht Club.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Larry Myers of Bremerton; two sisters, Dorothy Martin of Stanwood and Elizabeth Miller of Richmond Beach; and three grandchildren, Kimberly Blevins, Rayna Myers and Rebecca Anderson, all of Bremerton. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerome.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A graveside service is planned for 3 p.m. Friday at the Tracyton cemetery.

LaVern Buchan
LaVern Robert Buchan, 68, of Poulsbo died April 22, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Aug. 17, 1931, in Lansing, Iowa, to Robert and Rose (Peterson) Buchan. He grew up in Iowa, Minnesota and California.
Mr. Buchan served in the Navy during the Korean conflict and also with the Air Force.
He lived in the Portland, Ore. area working for many years as a heavy equipment mechanic for Halton Tractor Company. He also lived in Sequim before moving to Kitsap County.
His wife, Mary, preceded him in death in 1982. Survivors include one son, Rob of Poulsbo; one daughter, Cheryl Whinery of Albuquerque, N.M.; one brother, Arnold of Salem, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
An inurnment service is planned for 10:30 a.m. May 19 at Willamette National cemetery in Portland. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
Bernice Svore
Bernice Lee Svore, 88, of Bainbridge Island died
April 24, 2000, at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle.
She was born April 20, 1912, in Nashua, Mont., to Alfred and Martha (Sieversen) Lee. She attended St. Olaf's College in Northfield, Minn., graduating from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., in 1933.
She married
Dr. C.R. Svore. He preceded her in death in 1989.
She was a 40-year member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Missoula, Mont.
Survivors include one son, Mark of Issaquah; two daughters, Judy Svore Cope of Sun City, Ariz., and Linda Holsman of Bainbridge Island; and five grandchildren, Kirstin, Erika and Mark Holsman, all of Bainbridge Island, and Krysta and Annika Svore, both of Issaquah.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at Madison Avenue Retirement Center, 285 Madison Ave. on Bainbridge Island. Arrangements are under the direction of Kass Funeral Home.
Devin Fend
Devin James Fend, three months, died April 24, 2000, at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma.
He was born Jan. 10, 2000, at Harrison Hospital to James and Brandy (Middleton) Fend of Bremerton.
He was baptized at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include his parents; one sister, Erin of Bremerton; his grandparents, Barbara Fend of Bremerton, Lawrence and Charlotte Cole of Port Orchard and Phillip and Mary Middleton of Little D'Arcy Island, British Columbia, Canada; and his great-grandmother, EvaNell Hentges of Houston.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, with inurnment at Forest Lawn cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.
Warren Cook
Warren George Cook, 89, of Bremerton died April 24, 2000, at Harrison Hospital after a long illness.
He was born Aug. 12, 1910, in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, to Frank G. and Firmine (Sturbois) Cook. He grew up in Warrenton, Ore., graduating from Warrenton High School in 1928, and from Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore., in 1932.
He married
Audrey Lewis on June 19, 1938, in Astoria, Ore.
Mr. Cook worked as a naval architect at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 32 years, retiring in 1972.
He was a member of the Elks in Bremerton, the National Association of Naval Technical Supervisors, Phi Mu Delta fraternity and First United Methodist Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Suzanne McKay of Seabeck; one sister, Barbara Jean Gruis of Cosmopolis.; two grandchildren, Diane Middleton and Gary Scott Jr., both of Bremerton; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Gerald Cook.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home, with a funeral service at 3 p.m. A reception will follow the service at Mr. Cook's home.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Minnie Cornell
Minnie Mae Cornell, 89, of Bremerton died April 20, 2000, at her home.
She was born May 25, 1910, in Terre Haute, Ind., to Clark and Iva McClenthen.
She married
Jack Cornell on June 4, 1941, in Shelby, Mont. The couple moved to Bremerton in the late 1950s.
Mrs. Cornell worked at various jobs but was primarily a homemaker.
She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1978. She is survived by a daughter, Jeannene Eineke of Illinois.
A memorial service is planned for 7:30 p.m. today at the Bremerton Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Inurnment will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Jerry Trudeau
Jerome Zenophile "Jerry" Trudeau, 78, of Bremerton died April 22, 2000, in Bremerton.
He was born Nov. 27, 1921, in Gentilly, Minn., to Zenophile and Annie (Trepanier) Trudeau. He grew up in Gentilly, receiving his GED from East High School in Bremerton in 1960.
Mr. Trudeau served in the Army from 1941 to 1945. He was a member of the 335th Engineer Regiment during World War II.
He married
Mary Lou Steenerson on June 3, 1950, in Toppenish.
He worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and was self-employed.
Mr. Trudeau was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 239, American Legion Post 149, Disabled American Veterans and Eagles Post 192.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Tim of Arlington, Chris of Port Orchard and Dan of Toonerville; three daughters, Janna Shreve and Lisa Havens, both of Poulsbo, and Patricia Loftus of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Marie Lanctot of Crookston, Minn., and Nora Delage of Thief River Falls, Minn.; 14 grandchildren, Tracy Shreve of Spokane, Tiffany Richardson, Terri Shreve, Tara Havens and John Havens, all of Poulsbo, Erika Loftus of Colorado Springs, Jason Loftus of Richland, Tim Trudeau of Anchorage, Alaska, Amanda Handel of Marysville, Stefani Trudeau, Miranda Trudeau and Christopher Trudeau, all of Chimacum, and Zachary Trudeau and Daniel Trudeau Jr., both of Seabeck; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael, in 1956.
Visitation is planned for 6 p.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bremerton, followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation resumes at 10 a.m. Friday, with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m., also at Holy Trinity. Interment
will follow at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
