Belva Olson
Belva Olson, 80, of Port Orchard died April 20, 2000, at Life Care Center of Auburn.
She was born Dec. 25, 1919, in Whitewood, S.D., to Alva and Cleona (O'Halloran) Shaul. She grew up in South Dakota.
She married Francis Olson on Aug. 15, 1936, in Deadwood, S.D.
Mrs. Olson was a homemaker. She had lived in Shelton from 1949 to 1974, working at the Mode O Day clothing store there.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1992. Survivors include three sons, Jerry of Milton, Dean of Olympia and Norman of Port Orchard; one daughter, Diane Good of Renton; two sisters, Dessa Heider of Seattle and Dorothy Metzler of Union; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a son, Michael, in 1999.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel, with inurnment at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Al Bullard
Alton R. "Al" Bullard, 77, of Belfair died April 23, 2000, at Firlane Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Shelton of adeno carcinoma of the colon.
He was born May 28, 1922, in El Campo, Texas, to Clifford and Helen (Ammann) Bullard.
He and his wife, Betty, were married Oct. 8, 1942.
Mr. Bullard served in the Army from 1940 to 1945, as a private first class. He later was a welder.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Pete of Belfair and Chuck of Poulsbo; three daughters, Dorothy Staab-Kulczyk and Betty Jones, both of Seattle, and Janet Johnson of Sedro Woolley; his mother, Helen Bullard of El Campo; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent.

Milka Chuka
Milka Chuka, 91, of Bainbridge Island died
April 21, 2000, on Bainbridge Island.
She was born Jan. 23, 1909, in Zman, Croatia, to Marion and Santa (Kunjacich) Chuka.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Rod of Bainbridge Island; two daughters, Yvonne Evjan of Poulsbo and Millie Heeney of Bainbridge Island; one sister, Vanka Morovic of Lynnwood; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. today at St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Bainbridge Island, with interment at Port Blakely cemetery on Bainbridge Island. Arrangements are by Kass Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Children's Orthopedic Hospital, P.O. Box 5371, Seattle, WA 98105.

Marcia Sabata
Marcia J. Sabata, 83, of Bremerton died April 7, 2000, at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center of chronic pulmonary disease.
She was born Dec. 23, 1916, in Auburn to Percy and Marian (Benedict) Parnell. She grew up in Bremerton, graduating from Bremerton High School in 1935.
She married Emil Sabata on Jan. 17, 1959, in Seattle.
She worked for Airborne Freight in Seattle. She was a member of the Retired Service Volunteers Program in Bremerton.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1969. She is survived by a brother, Lowell Parnell of Bremerton. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Parnell.
Private services have been held. Inurnment took place at Washelli cemetery in Seattle. Arrangements were by Kitsap Cremation and Burial Society.

James Collins
Former Bremerton resident James E. Collins, 65, of Norcross, Ga., died April 2, 2000.
He was born March 27, 1935, in Bremerton. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1953, received a bachelor of arts degree from Pennsylvania State University and a master of business administration jointly from Clemson University and Furman University, both in South Carolina.
He married Norma Bastiani on Aug. 6, 1960, in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Collins served in the Army. He worked as a computer consultant for IBM Corp.
He was a member of Mary Our Queen Catholic Church in Norcross.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Stephen of Bainbridge, Ga.; one daughter, Dana Collins of Norcross; and two granddaughters, Amelia and Emi Collins, both of Bainbridge.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 6 at Mary Our Queen Catholic Church in Norcross, with burial in Arlington Memorial Park in Atlanta.

LaVerna Neill
LaVerna Mae Neill, 66, of Port Orchard died April 24, 2000, in Bremerton.
She was born April 14, 1934, in Omak. She grew up in Port Orchard.
She married Thomas K. Neill in Kitsap County. They had been married 46 years at the time of his death in 1997.
Mrs. Neill worked as a child-care provider and foster parent for approximately 20 years.
She retired in 1992.
She was a member of the Port Orchard/South Kitsap Noon Lions Club and the West Sound Quilt Club.
Survivors include five sons, Joseph and Thomas Jr., both of Port Orchard, Wesley of Bainbridge Island, Brian of Phoenix and Wayne of Gig Harbor; one daughter, Janet Cole of Port Orchard; two brothers, Fred Perry of Port Orchard and Grant Perry of Wenatchee; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Christian Life Center in Port Orchard. Arrangements are by Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Felicia Bailey
Felicia K. Bailey, 77, of Silverdale died April 24, 2000, at her home.
She was born March 3, 1923, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Frank and Josefa (Dominowicz) Skowronski. She grew up in Brooklyn, graduating from Textile High School in New York City in 1941.
She married Ralph S. Bailey on Sept. 30, 1945, in Menlo Park, Calif.
Mrs. Bailey worked most recently with the Bremerton School District, retiring in 1985, after 20 years. Previously, she worked in audio visual services with the Tacoma School District and for five years as a librarian at San Diego High School in San Diego.
She was a member of the Camerman Young Ladies Institute for 36 years, Beta Sigma Phi, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary in San Diego and Bremerton, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church Altar Society and Keep Off Pounds Sensibly.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, John of Dayton and William of Graham; one daughter, Frances Town of Ellensburg; and two grandchildren, Stephen Town of Ellensburg and John Woodgate of Cambridge, England. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ralph and Charles Bailey.
Visitation is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation resumes at 10 a.m. Friday, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m., also at Our Lady Star of the Sea. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Fall City cemetery.
Arrangements are by Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Herbert Pfeffer
Herbert A. Pfeffer, 99, of Port Orchard died April 19, 2000, at Port Orchard Care Center.
He was born April 4, 1901, in Sheboygan, Wis., to Richard and Mary (Sinner) Pfeffer. He married Loraine Close on Nov. 26, 1972.
Mr. Pfeffer was a farm boss at the Eau Claire County Hospital in Wisconsin for 20 years, moving with his family to Port Orchard in 1944. He was a machinist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard until retirement in 1968.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Leona, in 1972; a son, Herbert, in 1983; two sisters, Lydia Kallies and Elsie Ring; and two brothers, Alfred and Arnold.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Beverly Hammoch of Bremerton, Harriet Pomerenk of Seattle, Dorothy Morrison of Port Orchard and Shirley Rhode of Elk River, Minn.; two stepsons, Wayne Close of Tomah, Wis., and Phillip Close of Lakeville, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and today at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, also at Rill Chapel, followed by burial at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
Memorials may be made to Christ the Rock Community Church, P.O. Box 1336, Port Orchard, WA 98366; to Port Orchard Care Center, 2031 Pottery Ave., Port Orchard, WA 98366; or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Steven Moore
Steven Danial Moore, 46, of Bremerton died April 15, 2000, at University of Washington Hospital in Seattle.
He was born Feb. 15, 1954, in Racine, Wis., and attended East Bremerton High School. He previously was employed as a locksmith for Pan Am contractors.
Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Moore, in 1998. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Nancy and Edward Reyers of Bremerton; his former stepfather, Oscar Silvers; his wife, Dawn Davis-Moore; a son, Bryon Moore; four daughters, Julia, Heather, Elsa and Mary Moore; two stepsons, Josh Davis and Zack Robel, both of Wenatchee; six brothers, Kenneth and Keith Silvers and Richard, Randall, Leonard and Billy Moore; and five sisters, Deborah, Tammy, Karen, Lisa and Mary Moore.
Visitation and graveside services were held Thursday at Twin Firs cemetery in Belfair, followed by a memorial service at Crosby Church on the Seabeck Highway.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 557 Roy St., lower level, Seattle, WA 98109.

Opal O'Neill
Mary Opal O'Neill, 84, of Port Orchard died April 22, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Nov. 27, 1915, in Hawesville, Ky., to Thomas B. and Zula (Bruner) Miller. She grew up in Hawesville.
She married Arthur Francis O'Neill on June 29, 1944, in Los Angeles.
Mrs. O'Neill was a homemaker and a member of Harper Evangelical Free Church in Port Orchard.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1973. Survivors include three sons, Kevin of Honolulu, Dennis of Port Orchard and Neil of Livermore, Calif.; one brother, Orville Miller of Nashville, Tenn.; and five grandchildren, Jake, Cara, Brian, Laurie and Bridget O'Neill. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Hilda Inkenhause.
Visitation is scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A graveside service is planned for 9 a.m. Thursday at Haven of Rest cemetery in Gig Harbor followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Harper Evangelical Free Church.

Carl Price
Carl William Price, 69, of Port Orchard died April 23, 2000, at Harrison Hospital of complications from a long illness.
He was born April 26, 1930, in Vienna, W. Va., to
G. William and Beulah (Fouts) Price. He lived in Akron, Ohio, until the age of 15, moving to Yakima at age 21. He graduated from Toppenish High School in and completed an apprentice program at Olympic College in the late 1950s.
He married Mary Ruth Kaster on Dec. 27, 1953. She preceded him in death in 1979.
He married Dorothy Strange on March 15, 1980, in Poulsbo.
Mr. Price served in the Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953. He was a member of the Washington National Guard for 13 years, achieving the rank of sergeant.
He worked as a welder at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for more than 36 years, retiring in 1988. He also co-owned Family Florist in Poulsbo in the early 1980s.
Mr. Price was a member of the Sons of Norway, the Eagles in Bremerton and the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Robert of Port Orchard; three daughters, Jacki Todd of Suquamish, Lorilei Tucker of Kings Bay, Ga., and Sheri Hornbeck of Port Orchard; two brothers, Duane of Everett and Don of East Wenatchee; one sister, Phyllis Fadich of Waterville; six grandchildren, Jake and Chelana Todd, both of Suquamish, Jason and Michael Hornbeck, both of Port Orchard, and Chris and Jessica Tucker, both of Kings Bay; and two adopted granddaughters, Rochelle and Crystal Tucker, both of Kings Bay.
A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Thursday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Private interment will take place at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
