'Naomi' Stevens
Elizabeth "Naomi" Ember Stevens, 93, of Bremerton died April 20, 2000, in Bremerton.
She was born July 25, 1906, in West Liberty, Iowa, to George and Elizabeth Embree. She graduated from West Liberty High School.
She married
Fred L. Stevens on Nov. 10, 1924, in West Liberty. He preceded her in death in 1932.
Mrs. Stevens was a bookkeeper. She was also an active member of the Sylvan Way Baptist Church and the Soroptomists Clubs of Idaho and Bremerton.
Survivors include her daughter, Carmelita Hunt of Bremerton; granddaughter, Cristiann Kirby of Port Or-chard; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will be held later.
Memorials may be made to Gideons International or to the Sylvan Way Baptist Church.
Herbert Pfeffer
Herbert A. Pfeffer, 99, of Port Orchard, died April 19, 2000, at Port Orchard Care Center.
He was born April 4, 1901, in Port Orchard to Richard and Maria (Sinner) Pfeffer. He married
Loraine Close on Nov. 26, 1972.
Mr. Pfeffer was a farm boss at the Eau Claire County Hospital in Wisconsin for 20 years, moving with his family to Port Orchard in 1944. He was a machinist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard until retirement in 1968.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Leona, in 1972; son Herbert in 1983; two sisters, Lydia Kallies and Elsie Ring; and two brothers, Alfred and Arnold.
Survivors include his wife, of Port Orchard; stepsons Wayne Close of Tomah, Wis., and Phillip Close of Lakeville, Minn.; daughters Beverly Hammach of Bremerton, Harriet Pomerenk of Seattle, Dorothy Morrison of Port Orchard and Shirley Rhode of Elk River, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Rill Chapel., followed by burial at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Roger West
Roger R. West, 49, of Poulsbo died April 16, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Sept. 9, 1950, in Robbinsdale, Minn., to Del West and Larry Hughes. He graduated from West High in Bremerton in 1969.
He married
Jackie West on July 24, 1992, in Reno, Nev.
He served in the Army in Vietnam from August 1969 to February 1972. He later was a highway maintenance worker for the Washington State Department of Transportation for 17 years.
Survivors include his wife; his parents, of Minnesota; and two brothers, Robert and Dwight, both of Minnesota.
Mr. West will be buried in Fort Snelling in Minnesota. At his request, a wake will be held from noon until closing Saturday at Four Corners Tavern in Poulsbo. Arrangements are by Tuell-McKee Funeral & Cremation Services of Bremerton.
Kenneth Hedstrom
Kenneth Birger Hedstrom, 93, of Bremerton died April 19, 2000, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tacoma.
He was born Oct. 21, 1906, in Superior, Wis., where he was raised and educated.
Mr. Hedstrom married
his wife, Harriett. She preceded him in death in 1993.
He came to Kitsap County in 1940 and was a marine pipefitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard from 1943 to 1975. He was a 50-year member of the United Association of the Pipefitters Union.
He is survived by two sons, Kenneth L. of Tacoma and Russell of Bremerton; and five grandchildren, Jana Fullerton, Andrea, Charin, Dwayne and Craig, all of Bremerton.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel with private burial at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Lois Stadshaug
Lois Lucille Stadshaug, 76, of Poulsbo died April 17, 2000, in Bremerton.
She was born April 2, 1924, to Robert and Alice (Bullock) Kindall in Onalaska. She was raised in Onalaska and moved to Poulsbo in 1933, where she graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1941.
She married
Edwin Stadshaug on Jan. 12, 1946, at First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo. He preceded her in death in 1983.
She was employed at the Poulsbo rural telephone company from 1941 to 1946. She later served as the Poulsbo city clerk from 1965 until retirement in 1976.
Mrs. Stadshaug was a member of the Board of Directors for the U.S. Community Credit Union in Poulsbo for 12 years. She was a life member of the Sons of Norway, and was a member of the Puget Sound Power and Light Retirees and First Lutheran Church of Poulsbo.
Survivors include three sons, Arne and Mark, both of Bremerton, and Bob of Kirkland; a daughter, Nancy Segerman of Silverdale; a sister, Doris Zeiler of Seattle; eight grandchildren, Michael Stadshaug of Bremerton, Kersten Slayer of Poulsbo, Kendall and Quinn Stadshaug of Kirkland, Tonya Brewer of Bremerton, Curt Segerman of Bremerton, Brian Segerman of Silverdale and Amy Stadshaug of Bremerton; and two great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Goldie Kay
Goldie Rose Kay, 75, of Tacoma died April 15, 2000, in Tacoma.
She was born Aug. 1, 1924, in Port Townsend to Fred and Mary (Rodgers) Campbell. She was raised in Port Ludlow and Seattle and attended Highline High School.
She married
Robert Kay on Sept. 1, 1942. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Warren of Alaska; a daughter, Joyce of New Jersey; a sister, Joyce Pratt of Kingston; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband.
A funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Olaf's Catholic Church in Poulsbo. Burial will follow at the Kingston cemetery. Arrangements are by Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel. Memorials may be sent to the charity of the donor's choice.
Lucy Drew
Lucy Marie Drew, 77, of Port Orchard died April 18, 2000, at Ridgemont Terrace Nursing Home.
She was born April 9, 1923, to Richard and Ethel (Kelley) Fine in Morning Sun, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Iowa, graduating from high school there. She attended John Fletcher College in Iowa and Seattle Pacific College.
She married
Dr. Frederick Drew on Sept. 25, 1944, in Winnsboro, La. He preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1998.
She was a homemaker and the author of a published book of poetry.
Mrs. Drew was a member of the Bremerton Free Methodist Church, the Grace Bible Church of Port Orchard and the Quilting Guild of Port Orchard.
Survivors include four sons, Raymond of Edgewood, Michael and Patrick, both of Port Orchard and Mark of Baltimore, Md.; two daughters, Dottie Freemantle of Olympia and Cheri Kilmer of Bremerton; a sister, Dorothy Hoover of Lakewood; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A brother, the Rev. Robert M. Fine, also preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Grace Bible Church in Port Orchard. A private burial was held at Forest Lawn cemetery. Arrangements are by Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Alice McIntyre
Alice Mae McIntyre, 76, of Bremerton died April 17, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born July 4, 1923, to Edwin and Mae (Ruth) Hayes in Scobey, Mont. She was raised and educated in Montana, graduating from Frenchtown High School.
She married
Stewart McIntyre on June 14, 1949.
Mrs. McIntyre was a controller's department supervisor at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Gold Mountain Ladies Golf Club and a Cub Scouts den mother. She also volunteered for the Heart Fund Drive and was a member of the PTA.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Randy of Bothell; a sister, Kay Johnson of Bremerton; a brother, Max Hayes of Bremerton; and two grandchildren, Meagan and Jennifer.
A funeral liturgy will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. A graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn cemetery.

John Thompson
John Louis Thompson, 83, of Poulsbo died April 15, 2000, at Martha & Mary Health Center.
He was born Jan. 9, 1917, to George and Mary (Boyle) Thompson in Creighton, Neb. He was raised in Creighton and graduated from St. Ludgers Academy in 1933.
He married
Dorothy R. Haselhorst on Feb. 27, 1938, in Plainview, Neb.
Mr. Thompson served in the Navy in WWII and in the Army for the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired from the Army as a master sergeant in 1970 after a total of 31 years in the service. He then worked as a manager of job services for the state of Nebraska before retiring in 1982.
He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion Post No. 3 in Lincoln, Neb., the Knights of Columbus in North Platte, and also was made an Honorary Admiral of the Nebraska Navy by the state of Nebraska.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Daniel of Canoga Park, Calif., Michael of Natchez, Miss.; three daughters, Peggy Brown of Poulsbo, Patricia Whitesel of Albuquerque, N.M., and Mary Kay Tetreault of Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Georgia Zuroski of Omaha, Neb., and Shirley Pruss of Iowa; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was held Wednesday at St. Olaf's Catholic Church in Poulsbo. Arrangements are by Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
Robert Huber
Robert R. Huber, 84, of Silverdale died April 20, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born June 22, 1915, in Fountain City, Wis., to Roy and Linda Huber. He was raised in Glasgow, Mont., and graduated from the University of Montana in Missoula. He was an accomplished classical and jazz pianist and played in bands and orchestras throughout Montana.
He married
Eleanor Hilden in 1941. She preceded him in death in 1987.
Mr. Huber served in the South Pacific in the Navy during World War II. The family moved from Montana to Bremerton in 1954, where Mr. Huber worked in the accounting department of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring as chief of his division in 1974 after 34 years of government service.
He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda McPheters of Washington, D.C., and Jane Barnett of Silverdale; a sister, Gerry Davis of Charlottesville, Va.; and two granddaughters, Julie McPheters and Katie Barnett.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Bremerton. Memorials may be made to the church.
James Herbold
James Eldon Herbold, 72, of Port Orchard died April 17, 2000, at Naval Hospital, Bremerton.
He was born Feb. 21, 1928, to Paul and Ethel (Hunt) Herbold in Fallbrook, Calif.
Mr. Herbold served in the Marine Corps from 1951 until retiring in 1971 as a master sergeant. He and his wife, Margaret, had been residents of Kitsap County for four years.
He also was a member of the Single Action Shooting Society.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Matthew of Tacoma, Greg Rayes and Daniel Herbold, both of Vashon; a brother, Lewis Herbold of Tacoma; and five grandchildren.
A graveside service with military honors will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent.
