Jane Rodarmel
Jane M. Rodarmel, 71, of Poulsbo died April 15, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Oct. 28, 1928, in Wellington, Colo., where she was raised.
She married
Wayne E. Rodarmel on Jan. 1, 1948, in Wellington.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Karen Barnaby of Keyport, Gail Stanley and Crystal Peterson, both of Poulsbo; a sister, Irene Cheney of Fort Collins, Colo.; two brothers, Dale and Larry Farmer, both of Fort Collins; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any children's charity.
Bud Moore
Kenneth C. "Bud" Moore, 81, of Port Orchard died March 28, 2000, at his home.
He was born June 19, 1918, in Ritzville to William Moore and Florence (Steiner) Tuttle. He graduated from Commerce City High School in Portland, Ore., in 1936, and studied at the University of Washington from 1954 to 1956.
He married
Lillian Marie Rutz on Oct. 22, 1938, in Portland.
Mr. Moore served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945. He owned and operated several grocery stores, including C&C Supersave in Bremerton. He was in the grocery business until his retirement in 1985.
He was a member of the Retail Clerks Union and Lake City Elks.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kenneth of Moses Lake and Paul of Federal Way; three daughters, Sharon Timme of Kent, Linda Eisenhauer of Gig Harbor and Michele Lamey of Port Orchard; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Watson and Rosemary Moore; and a daughter, Carol Filce.
A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be sent to Hospice of Kitsap County, the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.
John Thompson
John Louis Thompson, 83, of Poulsbo died April 15, 2000, at Martha & Mary Health Center.
He was born Jan. 9, 1917, to George and Mary (Boyle) Thompson in Creighton, Neb. He was raised in Creighton and graduated from St. Ludgers Academy in 1933.
He married
Dorothy F. Haselhorst on Feb. 27, 1938, in Plainview, Neb.
Mr. Thompson served in the Navy in World War II and in the Army during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired from the Army as a Master Sergeant in 1970 after 25 years of service. He then was a manager of job services for the state of Nebraska, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post No. 3 in Lincoln, Neb., the Knights of Columbus in North Platte, and also was made an Honorary Admiral of the Nebraska Navy by the state of Nebraska.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Daniel of Canoga Park, Calif., Michael of Natchez, Miss.; three, daughters, Peggy Brown of Poulsbo, Patricia Whitesel of Albuquerque, N.M., and Mary Kay Tetreault of Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Georgia Zuroski of Omaha, Neb., and Shirley Pruss of Iowa; seven grandchildren, Lisa Kring, Holly and Mark Thompson, Kiersten Stockholm, Chantal Tetreault, and Adrienne and Alyson Brown; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. today at St. Olaf's Catholic Church in Poulsbo. Burial will follow at Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo. Arrangements are by Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
Ralph Landis
Ralph G. Landis, 78, of Port Orchard died April 12, 2000, at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.
He was born June 21, 1921, in Pasadena, Calif., to Arthur N. and Erma (Crittenden) Landis. He was raised in Long Beach, Calif., graduating from John Dewey High School in 1939.
On May 30, 1947, he married
Evelyn P. Jones in Long Beach.
Mr. Landis served from 1942 to 1945 in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He advanced to the rank of sergeant, specializing as an aircraft mechanic while stationed in Great Britain.
Later, he worked for the city of Long Beach as a mechanic. He retired in 1977 after 30 years.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Allan of Tampa, Fla., and Mark of Capistrano Beach, Calif.; two daughters, Linda Fox of Port Orchard and Carol Garcia of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; and six grandchildren, Brian, Brent and Michelle Fox, Christina Garcia and Joshua and Jacob Landis.
No services are planned. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard. Arrangements are by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Doc Willey
Claude R. "Doc" Willey, 80, died April 9, 2000, in El Paso, Texas.
He was born May 18, 1919, in Shelby County, Texas, and graduated in 1941 from Texas A&M University. He owned and operated his own veterinary hospital in El Paso until 1974. He also owned and operated his own aircraft business until the time of his death. For the past 10 years, he spent his summers fishing in the West Sound area.
He was vice president and a member of the Texas State Board of Veterinary Medical examiners from 1963 to 1969.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Wallace Willey of El Paso; two sons, Bill Wallace of Silverdale and Wade Wallace of Los Angeles; six grandchildren, Steve Wallace, Michael Wallace, Tammy Rawlins, Mandy Colburn, Sally Wallace and Willey Wallace; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church.
Gregory Emmert
Gregory Leonard Emmert, 23, of Port Orchard died April 15, 2000, after an accident in San Clemente, Calif.
He was born Feb. 23, 1977, in Tacoma. He was raised in Port Orchard and graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1995.
He married
Bridget Lynn Farnham on Aug. 26, 1995, in Port Orchard.
Mr. Emmert was a full-service manager at Northshore Chevron. He previously worked at Olympic Ten Minute Oil in Port Orchard from 1994 to 1999.
Survivors include his wife; his parents, Steve and Leanne Emmert of Tacoma and Glenda and Bill Braidic of Vaughn; a brother, Scott of Gig Harbor; a sister, Kirsten Shepard of Seabeck; and grandparents, Chet and Naomi Emmert of Fife and Virginia and Glen Olmstead of Vaughn.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Family Worship Center in Port Orchard.

Jill Schmitter
Jill Noel Schmitter, 43, of Dewatto died April 13, 2000, at home after suffering from lung cancer.
She was born Dec. 14, 1956, in Whittier, Calif., to Robert and Wilma Lutz. She was raised in California and moved to Western Washington in 1990.
On Sept. 9, 1998, she married
Markus Schmitter.
She was the first female railroad engineer in California, and she managed Keyport Auto in Keyport. She later worked at home.
Survivors include her husband; her father, Robert Lutz, and stepmother of California; a sister, Lynn of California; and three sons, Nicholas of California, Alexander of Belfair and Aramas of Dewatto.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Nicholas Church in Tahuya.
Joyce Simonsen
Joyce C. Simonsen, 78, died April 16, 2000, at her Ferndale home.
She was born Aug. 11, 1921, in Salt Lake City to David and Eva (Lull) Hogan.
She married
Elling E. Simonsen in Tacoma. He preceded her in death in 1994.
She was a bookkeeper and receptionist for a medical office in Bremerton, then later was a bookkeeper at Christensen's Shoe Store in Bremerton. She moved from Bremerton to Ferndale three years ago.
Mrs. Simonsen is survived by a daughter, Judy Peck; five grandchildren, Scott Peck of Ferndale, Andy Peck of Spanish Fork, Utah, Joelle Baker and Jana Young, both of Bellingham, and Jill Chavez Lopez of Birch Bay; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Woodlawn cemetery. Arrangements are by Moles Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Ferndale.
Eugene Campeau
Eugene M. Campeau, 78, of Bremerton died April 14, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Helmer, Idaho, to Louis and Clara Campeau. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1941.
He married
Evelyn S. Robinson on Oct. 16, 1947, in Bremerton.
Mr. Campeau served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked at PSNS starting as a pipefitter, then in the Mold Loft and finishing his career as a drafting, design and naval architect technician, retiring in 1972.
He was a member of the Bremerton Eagles and NARFE.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Theresa (Gordon) Virden of Ephrata, Nancy Wallace of Bremerton and Kathleen Fine of Buena Park, Calif.; a sister, Pearl Sloan of Silverdale; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
No services are planned. Arrangements are by Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Marie Molitor
Marie Olena Molitor, 88, of Poulsbo died April 11, 2000, at Martha & Mary Health Center.
She was born Aug. 29, 1911, to Ole and Olene Birkland in Poulsbo. She was the youngest of 10 children.
Mrs. Molitor grew up in the Finn Hill area and attended Vinland Elementary School and Poulsbo High School.
She was a cook at various Poulsbo restaurants as well as the Harbor Nursing Home. She retired from the Viking House in the 1980s.
Mrs. Molitor also was one of the last surviving residents who worked at Poulsbo's codfish plant.
She is survived by a son, Wayne Nelson of Poulsbo; two daughters, Jeanne Jorgensen of Port Ludlow and Delores Crowell of Suquamish; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her siblings and her husbands, Walter Nelson in 1963 and George Molitor on 1982.
At her request, there will be no service. Memorial donations may be made to Martha & Mary Health Center, P.O. Box 127, Poulsbo, WA 98370, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Coon Fredericksen
Conrad "Coon" Fredericksen, 101, of Poulsbo died April 13, 2000, at his home.
He was born March 11, 1899, to Andrew and Raghnild (Pladsen) Fredericksen in Poulsbo. He was one of nine children, and became known as "Coon" when he was 4 years old and suffered a raccoon bite.
He grew up in Poulsbo and graduated from Poulsbo High School.
He married
Ruth Elizabeth McCarty on Oct. 4, 1927, in Seattle.
Mr. Fredericksen managed the Kitsap County Co-op from 1916 to 1944. In 1944, he bought Olympic Foods and operated it until 1972, when he sold the business and retired.
He played baseball for many Kitsap County teams from 1918 to 1933 as a catcher and clean-up batter, and spent one summer in Alaska as a ringer. He was known as the "Babe Ruth of Poulsbo, " and declined an offer to play professionally.
He was inducted into the Kitsap Old Timers Hall of Fame in 1995.
Mr. Fredericksen was a member of First Lutheran Church of Poulsbo.
He is survived by a son, Allan of Poulsbo; five grandchildren, Cindy Rice and Kevin, Matt, and Andrew Fredericksen, all of Poulsbo, and Charles Fredericksen of Kingston; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, in 1998; a daughter, Carole Catrizx, in 1997; four brothers; and four sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church. Private family inurnment will be at First Lutheran cemetery.
