Ace Carson
Adrian Charles "Ace" Carson, 53, of Sequim died April 4, 2000, in Venice, Calif.
He was born Aug. 15, 1946, in Bremerton to Howard Carson and Emmogene (Kindred) Showalter. He grew up in Bremerton, graduating from West High School in 1965.
Mr. Carson served in the Marine Corps from 1966 to 1970, stationed in Vietnam and with the 1st Special Forces Group in Okinawa. His military honors include: the Combat Action Ribbon, the Presidential Unit Citation, the Vietnam Service Medal with four bronze stars, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Rifle Marksman Badge.
He worked at a plywood and paper mill in Port Angeles for two years, retiring in 1999. Previously, he had been a logger and fisherman in Alaska.
Mr. Carson was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans Chapter Nine and the American Legion.
Survivors include his companion, Charlotte Veuske of Sequim; and one sister, Vicki Carson of Bremerton. He was preceded in death by a sister, Carmen Madlin.

Luethia Canada
Luethia Canada, 79, of Bremerton died April 10, 2000, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation of Oyster Bay.
She was born July 5, 1920, in Delhi, La., to James and Bettie (May) Nathan. She grew up in Delhi.
She married
Jimmie Lee Canada on Aug. 14, 1939, in Rayville, La. He preceded her in death in 1968.
Mrs. Canada was a homemaker.
She was a member of Sinclair Missionary Baptist Church and Madrona Chapter 14 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two brothers, Joe Nathan of Louisiana and California and Purvis Nathan of Bremerton; and four sisters, Mary Williams of Houston, Rachel Ketchum of Bremerton and Minnie McDowell and Rose Young, both of Delhi.
A funeral service is planned for 2 p.m. Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home, with interment at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Roger Silkett
Roger E. Silkett, 66, of Bremerton died April 6, 2000, in Bremerton of a lingering illness.
He was born Dec. 2, 1933, in Ontario, Ore. He grew up in Oregon.
He married
his wife, Lillian, on July 30, 1988, in Bremerton.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Steven of Oregon and Sheldon and Randy, both of Bremerton; two daughters, Marcella Ridge of Belfair and Carolyn Kent of Quilcene; one step-daughter, Shirley Forgey of Bremerton; one brother, Elmer of Renton; one sister, Loretta Minniear of Puyallup; numerous grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Roger Jr.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Perry Avenue in East Bremerton.

Mary Etta Doubleday
Mary Etta Doubleday, 84, of Bremerton died April 8, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born in Spokane on Nov. 18, 1915, to Robert J. and Anna May (Warren) Peirson. She was raised and educated in Tacoma, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1933. She attended University of Puget Sound in 1934.
In 1936, she taught at Tacoma Secretarial School, where she met and later married
Robert George Doubleday.
The couple made their first home in Tacoma, moving in 1940 to Bremerton, where both worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. After retirement, they returned to Tacoma, then moved back to Bremerton in 1992.
Mrs. Doubleday had been employed by KMO Radio in Tacoma, Harrison Hospital and the Bremerton School District. She also wrote special assignment articles for The Sun in the 1950s.
She was a member of Triads Sorority. She also volunteered with the Bremerton Symphony, the Tacoma Literacy Council and Kitsap Lake Elementary School.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Mark of Olympia and Sam of Bremerton; one daughter, Marla Thompson of Bremerton; four grandchildren, Schuyler Burkhart of Tacoma, Megan Burkhart of Yelm and Joshua and Wesley Doubleday, both of Bremerton; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. Friday at Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church in Bremerton.
Kermit Richardson
Kermit C. Richardson, 88, of Bremerton died April 7, 2000, in Bremerton of complications from a fall.
He was born April 28, 1911, in Ashland, Ore., to Clifton and Pearl (Parks) Richardson. He grew up in Nebraska, graduating from Murdock High School in 1928.
He married
Wilma Brown on Sept. 12, 1935, in Glasgow, Mont. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Richardson was a member of Elks Lodge 1181 in Bremerton, serving as organist there for 18 years. He also was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the Grand Lodge of F&AM and the Eagles in Bremerton.
Survivors include two sons, Bill of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Jim of Palo Alto, Calif.; one daughter, Peggy Blanchard of Brier; one sister, Pat Regan of Portland, Ore.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Elks Lodge, 4131 Pine Road in Bremerton. Private interment will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Ernest Nordholm
Ernest R. Nordholm, 72, of Retsil died March 31, 2000, at the Washington Veterans Home in Retsil.
He was born in Chicago on Aug. 14, 1927.
Mr. Nordholm served in the Navy. He later worked in automotive sales.
Private interment will take place at the Retsil cemetery. Arrangements are by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Raymond Lee
Raymond E. Lee, 73, of Bremerton died March 25, 2000, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bremerton.
He was born Aug. 3, 1926, in Bremerton to Arnie and Merle (Oswald) Lee. He graduated from South Kitsap High School.
Mr. Lee served in the Navy from 1944 to 1974. He was on active duty for 20 years and with the Naval Reserves for 10 years.
He worked as a welder at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for four years.
Mr. Lee was a member of the International Steel Workers and the Fleet Reserve Association.
Survivors include three sons, Darrell of Vista, Calif., Alan of Spring Valley, Calif., and David of San Diego; two daughters, Darlene Trout of San Diego and Cheri Rossi of Poway, Calif.; one brother, Frank Niles of Bremerton; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Cartwright.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Fleet Reserve Association 29, 521 National Ave. South in Bremerton. Cremation is by Cherry Grove Memorial Park. His cremated remains will be buried at sea by the Navy.
Donna Moore
Donna May Moore, 85, of Port Orchard died April 10, 2000, at Northwoods Lodge in Silverdale.
She was born May 1, 1914, in Ballard to John and Karen (Clausen) Holland. She graduated from Franklin High School in Seattle in 1932.
Survivors include one daughter, Janice Eshelman of Silverdale; one son, Brian Moore of Kirkland; and five grandchildren, Brian Eshelman and Stephen, Lisa, Monica and Anthony Moore.
At her request, there will be no services. Arrangements are by Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Marjorie Shawn
Marjorie G. Shawn, 83, of Kingston died April 10, 2000, at Messenger House on Bainbridge Island.
She was born May 30, 1916, in Lewiston, Mont., to Walter and Geneva (Wilbur) Jellison. She grew up in Kelso, graduating from high school there.
She married
Donald Shawn in 1952. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Mrs. Shawn worked as a cosmetician for Payless Drug Stores in the 1940s.
She was a member of Kingston Christian Church, the Kingston Garden Club and volunteered with PAWS.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon King of Smyrna, Ga.; one sister, Grace Evans of Kelso; two brothers, Robert Jellison of Kelso and Harold Jellison of Bellingham. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Jellison, and an infant son, Michael Shawn.
At her request, there will be no services. Interment
will take place at Port Blakely cemetery on Bainbridge Island. Arrangements are by Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Mona Ruppel
Mona May Ruppel, 81, of Kingston died April 9, 2000, at her son's home in Bend, Ore.
She was born March 19, 1919, in Carterville, Mont., to Ray and Blanche (McCurdy) Lovell.
She and her husband, Christian Ruppel, moved to Seattle from Billings, Mont., in the late 1940s. They became Kingston residents soon after.
Mrs. Ruppel was an Avon distributor for a few years.
She was a member of Kingston Christian Church.
Survivors include one son, Ray of Bend, Ore.; five daughters, Atina Lawson of Alexander Heights, Ky., Patricia Rameau of Edmonds, Jean Dennis of Spokane, June Christensen of Seattle and Joyce Rada of Port Orchard; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A private, family gathering will be held. Arrangements are by Autumn Funerals in Redmond.
Sherman Evanson
Sherman O. Evanson, 96, of Tracyton died April 7, 2000, at his home.
He was born March 4, 1904, in Waseca, Minn., to Edward and Gustie (Kinn) Evanson. He grew up in Waseca.
He married
Viola Metzler on March 14, 1931, in Waseca.
Mr. Evanson worked as an outside machinist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for
18 years, retiring in 1966. Previously, he had farmed in Minnesota before moving to Bremerton in 1951.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Donald of Brinnon, Sherman Jr. of St. Paul, Minn., and Gerald of Seabeck; two daughters, Myra Durdahl of Bremerton and Judy Phillips of Los Alamitas, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
No services are planned. Arrangements are by Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Helen Ediger
Helen Ediger, 98, of Silverdale died April 6, 2000, in Silverdale. She had lived in Silverdale for 10 years.
She was born in Fargo, N.D., to Klaas and Maria Fehr Dick. She lived in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, as a child, moving to Oregon as a teenager and residing in the Dallas-Salem area.
She married
Aaron Ediger on Oct. 10, 1920, in Dallas, Ore. The Edigers lived briefly in California, working at the Glendale Alliance Center. Mr. Ediger preceded his wife in death in 1985.
Mrs. Ediger was a member of the Dallas Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
Survivors include four sons, Loren of Auburn, Calif., Richard of Independence, Ore., Ted of Eugene, Ore., and Emory of London, Ontario, Canada; four daughters, Miriam Nelson of Silverdale, Barbara Pratt of Bremerton, Janet Landis of Ketchikan, Alaska, and Beverly Buhtz of Sunland, Calif.; 27 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a son, Jamie of Dayton, Ore.
A graveside service will be at noon Friday at the Dallas cemetery with a memorial service following at 1 p.m. at the Dallas Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
