Donne Herdman
Donne Herdman, 81, of Bremerton died April 4, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born May 26, 1918, in Issaquah to Anton and Mary (Zuk) Omack. She was raised in Renton.
On Jan. 20, 1940, she married
Jim G. Herdman in Renton.
Mrs. Herdman was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jim and Rick, both of Bremerton; three daughters, Marianne Gavre, Jackie Morey and Toni Money, all of Bremerton; a sister, Mary Copeland of Seattle; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Miller Woodlawn Chapel.

George Barr
George Andrew Barr, 81, of Bremerton died April 3, 2000, in Bremerton.
He was born Sept. 26, 1918, in Vallejo, Calif., to Burton and Mable (Smith) Barr. He was raised and educated in Vallejo.
He and his wife, Jayne, were married
Nov. 27, 1948, in San Francisco. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Barr served in the Army during World War II. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Stars. He was a shipfitter foreman at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for more than 20 years.
He was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include a son, George of Fremont, Calif.; a daughter, Candi Parker of Bremerton; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
No services will be held. Cremation arrangements are by Lewis Funeral Chapel.
George Campbell
George Gordon Campbell, 76, of Poulsbo died April 2, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Sept. 16, 1923, in Bremerton to Paul and Grace (Casady) Campbell. He was raised and educated in Bremerton, graduating from high school in 1942.
He attended Olympic College and the University of Washington from 1958 to 1963, when he graduated.
On Nov. 15, 1947, he married
Theda Brower in Bremerton.
Mr. Campbell served in the Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1947. He began working at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard while in high school and continued following the war. He retired in 1981 as a chief design engineer.
He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Bridge Club and the Men's Club at Rolling Hills Golf Course.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Stephen of Poulsbo, Richard of Redmond and Dan of Port Orchard; four daughters, Carol Aiken of Bremerton, Patricia Howerton of Naselle, Joyce Stewart of Carnation and Marilyn Patterson of Port Angeles; two sisters, Peg Ott of Bellingham and Clare Clausen of Shoreline; three brothers, Harold of Seattle, William of Tacoma and Pete of Shoreline; 23 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A vigil will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 4215 Pine Road NE, Bremerton. Viewing will be at 10 a.m. Friday with the funeral liturgy to follow, also at Holy Trinity. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Arrangements are by Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Scott Harrington
Scott Winfield Harrington, 90, of Manette died of natural causes April 1, 2000.
He was born Feb. 27, 1910, to Herbert and Nellie (Hoffman) Harrington. He was raised in Manette.
In 1932, he married
Eleanor Carlson in Olympia.
Mr. Harrington worked as an electrician at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 32 years.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Scott of Gig Harbor; two daughters, Roberta Paschal of Silverdale and Neal Fort of Seabeck; six grandchildren, Adrienne Fort of Wenatchee, Brenda Marie Abel of Gig Harbor, David Paschal of Silverdale, James Fort of Seabeck, Nicole Daniels of Silverdale and Eric Harrington of Tacoma; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Abundant Life Foursquare Church.

Alice Czarnecki
Alice Czarnecki, 74, of Silverdale died March 30, 2000, in Silverdale.
She was born Sept. 30, 1925, in Sequim to Louis and Lillian (Cook) Kardonsky. She attended high school in Port Angeles.
Survivors include two sons, James Rowling of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Victor Knickerbocker of Bremerton; three daughters, Darlene Stahlnecker of Rochester, N.Y., Denise Ulowetz of Marysville and Annette Erickson of Bangor; two brothers, Walter of Anchorage, Alaska, and Leo of Port Angeles; five sisters, Meredith Bridges of Port Angeles, Vivian Croft of Bremen, Ga., Leona Cope, Ann Balch and Arlene Sullivan, all of Port Angeles; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. today at Harper-Ridgeview Chapel in Port Angeles. A reception will follow at Bethany Pentacostal Church, also in Port Angeles. There will be a private family inurnment.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Adah Hughes
Adah M. Hughes, 97, of Everett died of natural causes April 1, 2000, in Everett.
She was born Nov. 26, 1902, in Newkirk, Okla., to Henry and Matilda (Rowe) Atkins. She was raised and educated in Kansas.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include four sons, Charles Jr. of Marysville, Bobby Joe of Orting, Bill of Selah and Michael of Millbrae, Calif.;
a brother of Kansas; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Rill Chapel with a graveside service immediately following at Sunset Lane cemetery.

Bob Knowlton
Robert "Bob" Roy Knowlton, 63, of Bremerton died of a heart attack April 1, 2000, at his home.
He was born July 1, 1936, in Seattle. He was raised and educated in Bremerton, graduating from Bremerton High School in 1954. He later attended Golden West College in Huntington Beach, Calif., and spent time in New Zealand studying theology.
He and his wife, Frances, were married
Dec. 23, 1960, in Long Beach, Calif.
Mr. Knowlton served in the Navy as a signalman third class, receiving the Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart. Most recently, he worked for Kitsap Transit for six years, retiring in January.
He was a member of various bowling leagues.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Janis Morgan and Connie Grenard, both of Bremerton, and Leslie Cullers of Kent; and eight grandchildren, all of Bremerton.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church.

Vincent Peetz
Vincent Carl Peetz, 54, of Bremerton died of cancer April 2, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Oct. 27, 1945, in Longview to Carl and Blanche Peetz. He was raised in Roseburg, Ore., graduating from Roseburg High School in 1964, and then from the University of Oregon in 1971.
On Jan. 1, 1967, he married
Claudia Buchanan in Lebanon, Ore.
Mr. Peetz served in the Marine Corps from 1966 to 1968. He later went through Officer's Candidate School, serving again in the Marine Corps from 1973 to 1976. He taught high school for two years between Marine Corps stints. He later worked as an energy consultant for the Bonneville Power Administration, retiring in 1998. Mr. Peetz was a member of the USMC reserves and the Army National Guard. He was a major at the time of his death.
He also was a member of the University of Oregon Alumni Association and the Master Gardeners.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Christian of Seattle; and a daughter, Mindy of Bremerton.
A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at the family home, 3927 NE Perry, Bremerton.
Memorials may be made to the new Oncology and Radiation Unit at Harrison Hospital or to the Oregon Athletic Fund, University of Oregon.
Janice Harlin
Janice Mae Harlin, 66, of Poulsbo died of natural causes Feb. 4, 2000, at her home.
She was born Dec. 3, 1933, in Chillicothe, Ill., to Ora and Pearl Evangline (Branberg) Harlin. She graduated from Tiskilwa High School and attended Brown's Business School.
Mrs. Harlin lived in Illinois and southwestern Wisconsin, moving to Washington in 1994. She was a home health care worker with Catholic Community Services until 1999, when she retired.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald.
Survivors include a son, Robb Goembel of Peshastin; a daughter, Susan (Graninger) D'Aloia of Grayslake, Ill.; a sister, Judith Nolan of Oneida, Ill.; and four grandchildren, Ryan and Brooke Goembel, both of Peshastin, Nicholas D'Aloia of Little Chute, Wisc., and Tony D'Aloia of Duluth, Minn.
A memorial service will be conducted Sunday at St. John's Church in Galva, Ill., with burial at Blue Ridge cemetery in Chillicothe, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the Northwest Kidney Foundation or the American Diabetes Foundation, Washington branch.
Steven Sommers
Steven R. Sommers, 51, of Port Orchard died March 31, 2000.
He was born June 25, 1948, in Yakima to L.W. and Dana Lee (Marler) Sommers. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1966.
On July 17, 1971, he married
Maria Travis in Yakima.
Mr. Sommers served in the Army from 1967 to 1968. He later worked as a nuclear engineering technician at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1995 after 29 years of service.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; a son, Sean of Port Orchard; a daughter, Wendy Brooks of Port Orchard; a brother, Stacey of Port Orchard; a sister, Chris Blankenship of Bremerton; one grandchild, Clayton Brooks of Port Orchard; and his companion, Sandra Peterson of Port Orchard.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday with a memorial service following, both at Rill Chapel.
