Anna Ludlow
Anna Mary Ludlow, 91, of Bremerton died March 18, 2000, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center of natural causes.
She was born March 28, 1908, in Fort Ethan Allen, Vt. She moved with her husband to Lakebay from Southern California in 1970.
The Ludlows returned to California in 1976. Mr. Ludlow preceded his wife in death in 1980. Mrs. Ludlow returned to Washington in 1991.
Survivors include two nephews, Jim Dishon of Dodge City, Kan., and Keith Hardesty. She also was preceded in death by a sister in 1993.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday at Navy Yard City Bible Church in Bremerton. Arrangements are by Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at Parkland Lutheran Church cemetery in Parkland.
Marilla Tipton
Marilla A. Tipton, 84, of Port Orchard died at her home on March 17, 2000.
She was born Aug. 25, 1915, in Bath, Maine, to Edward and Clara (Bulger) Morey. She moved to Michigan at age 7 and to Tacoma in 1942.
She was a 1932 graduate of Benton Harbor High School in Michigan.
She retired as a waitress at the Washington Athletic Club in 1982, after working there for 10 years.
She also worked as a hat- check girl at the Port Orchard Eagles. She was a member there for 15 years, and a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas Hanley of Kipnuk, Alaska, and Charles Tipton of Port Orchard; a daughter, Patricia Hart Hayes of Tacoma; a sister, Harriet Simonsen of Fayetteville, N.C., and 15 grandchildren. Two sisters, Arletta Skanes and Dorothy Grassman, preceded her in death.
A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Norma Marson
Norma Lillian Marson, 73, of Port Townsend died March 15, 2000, in Port Townsend following an automobile accident.
She was born April 4, 1926, in Seattle to Rudolf and Anna Elizabeth (Winbladh) Nurell. She grew up in Seattle, graduating from Bothell High School in Bothell in 1944.
Survivors include one son, Thomas of Brier; one daughter, Christine Nelson of Ephrata; one brother, Richard Nurell of Everett; and two grandchildren, Peter Stilling of Rexburg, Idaho, and Sarah Hoekstra of Ellensburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, William.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Margaret Pykonen
Margaret Marie Pykonen, 70, of Port Orchard died March 17, 2000, at her home.
She was born Feb. 15, 1930, in Olympia to Clarence and Zellah (Tucker) Pier. She grew up in Port Orchard, attending junior high there and South Kitsap High School.
She married
Jack Pykonen on March 15, 1947, in Bremerton.
Mrs. Pykonen was a homemaker. She worked for nearly 25 years with
The Sun in the circulation department.
She volunteered at the South Kitsap Helpline for several years. She was a past member of the Port Orchard Assembly of God.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, John of Shelton, Jim of Arlington and Erik of Port Orchard; two daughters, Peggy Williams and Debra Dove, both of Bremerton; two brothers, Mick Pier of Spanaway and Stanley Pier of Graham; one sister, Marlene Knapper of Port Orchard; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Christian Life Center in Port Orchard. Interment
will take place at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Francisca Morales
Francisca Lao Morales, 46, of Bremerton died March 18, 2000, in Bremerton.
She was born April 6, 1953, in Baguio, Philippines, to Ricardo Baluyot Lao Sr. and Francisca del Rosario Manio. She graduated from high school in Caloocan City, Philippines, and from Trinity College of Nursing in the Philippines in 1974.
She married
Sotero N. Morales Jr. on Dec. 29, 1975, in the Philippines.
She worked as a registered nurse throughout her professional life. She traveled with her husband during his career in the Navy, working at many hospitals.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Giovanni and Patrick, both of Bremerton; four sisters, Sally Valencia of Los Angeles, Milagros Sison of the Philippines, Agnes Bellante of San Francisco and Grace Sibel of Minnesota; five brothers, Lutgardo Lao of the Philippines, Larry Lao and Ricardo Lao III, both of Florida, Ricardo Lao Jr. of Missouri and Ledy Lao of Minnesota.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 8 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton. Cremation is under the direction of Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo.
Glenn Lund
Glenn P. Lund, 79, a Port Orchard resident since 1940, died March 19, 2000.
He was born Sept. 24, 1920, in Correctionville, Iowa.
Mr. Lund worked as a machinist, retiring from the Naval Undersea Warfare Center at Keyport.
Survivors include four sons, Glenn and Kenneth, both of Olalla, and Samuel and James, both of Port Orchard; two daughters, Patricia Todd of Tonasket and Phyllis Krick of Bremerton; 32 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura C. Lund.
A graveside service is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at Haven of Rest Memorial Park in Gig Harbor.

Harold Stephens
Harold Leon Stephens, 72, of Bremerton died March 17, 2000, in Bremerton.
He was born Sept. 12, 1927, in Fruita, Colo., to James and Georgia (Brown) Stephens. He grew up in Port Orchard, attending school there.
He married
Myrtle Pitchford on June 27, 1959.
Mr. Stephens began working for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1943. He left to serve in the Navy during World War II, returning to PSNS after his military service. He was employed there until his retirement in 1986.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Jim Elliott of Port Orchard; five daughters, Ruth Cole and Debbie Anderson, both of Bremerton, Cathy Stinson of Belfair, Rebecca Ruttle of Lacey and Julia Dees of Livingston, Ala.; one sister, Shirley Ferris of Katy, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday at the Family Worship Center in Port Orchard.

Manila A. Tipton, 84, of Port Orchard died March 17, 2000, at her home.

James Carlsen
James E. Carlsen, 81, of Bremerton died March 16, 2000, at the Twilight Years Adult Family Home in Port Orchard.
He was born Oct. 1, 1918, in Poplar, Mont., to Thomas and Bessie (Nebinger) Carlsen. He grew up in Richland County, Mont., and graduated from Richey High School in Richey, Mont.
He enlisted in the Marine Corps during World War II and served from 1942 until 1945. He earned a Good Conduct Medal.
He married
Anne Miller on Sept. 10, 1950, in Richey.
Mr. Carlsen worked in Shop 64 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a woodworker for 27-1/2 years, retiring in 1978.
He was a charter member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
Mr. Carlsen is survived by his wife; three daughters, Lorna Smith of Port Orchard, Ivy Carlsen of Kenmore and Carla Carlsen of Bremerton; three brothers, William of Kitsap Lake, John of Montana and Dean of Fairview, Mont.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Rory J. Karlsen, in 1997; a brother, Charles Carlsen, in 1999; and his first wife, Elsie M. Fetters, in 1946.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at Grand View cemetery in Montana. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Delbert Ackels
Delbert V. Ackels, 86, a resident of Burien since 1946 and more recently of the Gig Harbor area, died March 14, 2000, in Gig Harbor.
He was born Dec. 8, 1913, in Stanton, Neb.
He worked as a flight engineer for United Airlines for 30 years.
Survivors include three sons, Vernon of Port Or-chard, Delmer of Fairbanks, Alaska, and James of Mesa, Ariz.; one daughter, Mary Lynn Peterson of Seattle; one brother, Quent of Cheyenne, Wyo.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchil-dren.
At his request, no services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor.

Arlie Reese
Arlie (Botz) Reese, 72, of Snohomish and formerly of Bremerton, died March 16, 2000, at her home.
She was born Nov. 11, 1927, in Minot, N.D. She was a 1945 graduate of Bremerton High School.
Survivors include her husband, Pastor Walter Reese; two sons, Thomas Reese of Atlanta and Pastor Kerry Reese of Everett; one daughter, Jennie Parnell of Minneapolis; two brothers, James of Bremerton and David of Auburn; one sister, Meri Beck of Seattle; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 9225 212th St. SE in Maltby near Snohomish.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church or to the Red Cross.
John O'Connor
John Joseph O'Connor, 90, of Silverdale died March 15, 2000, at his home.
He was born Feb. 14, 1910, in Cincinnati to George and Nellie (Crowley) O'Connor. He was raised and educated in Cincinnati.
Mr. O'Connor served in the Army from 1941 to 1945. He was a captain for the supply corps during World War II.
He married
Dorothy Bishop on Aug. 9, 1941, in Cincinnati.
Mr. O'Connor worked for Kaeser and Blair Printing and Advertising of Cincinatti for 47 years, retiring in 1976.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Robert of Cincinnati, William of Amsterdam, Netherlands, Bruce of Seattle and Gregory of Davenport, Iowa; one daughter, Kathleen Tittle of Port Orchard; five grandchildren, Matthew, Elizabeth, Rachel, Jessica and Geoffrey O'Connor; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward, and by three sisters, Mary Chris, Teresa Stuber and Loretta Huppertz.
Visitation is scheduled for noon Monday at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Cincinnati, followed by a Mass at 1 p.m. Interment
will take place at St. Stephens cemetery in Fort Thomas, Ky. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
