Murnie Lamb
Murnie LaVerne Lamb, 100, of Port Orchard died March 13, 2000, in Port Orchard.
She was born July 16, 1899, in DeWitt, Neb.
She had lived in Port Orchard for the past 65 years and had worked as a cook for many years at Myhre's Cafe in downtown Port Orchard. After her retirement, she took care of children during Sunday services at a Methodist church in Port Orchard and also at her home for 35 years.
She volunteered with South Kitsap Helpline and many other charitable organizations.
She is survived by three sons, Ivan of Berkeley, Calif., Leonard of Medical Lake, Wash., and W. Winton of Magalia, Calif.; five grandsons, John Barth of Chimacum, Ed Kruger of Fox Island, Gordon Kruger of Edmonds, Colo., Howard Lamb of Medical Lake and Greg Lamb of Southern California; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Venita Kruger.
At her request, there will be no services. Arrange-ments are under the direction of American Memorial in Tacoma.
Patricia Poole
Patricia Jean Eileen Poole, 26, of Bremerton died March 9, 2000, in Bremerton of injuries suffered in a truck accident.
She was born Aug. 14, 1973, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Sheldon and Judy (McVeigh) Poole. She grew up in Bremerton, attending Bremerton High School.
Survivors include her companion, Monty Teague; her son, Thor Teague of Bremerton; her mother, Judy Siliven of Bremerton; her stepfather, David Siliven of Arizona; four brothers, Randy Siliven of California, and David Siliven Jr., Dominic McVeigh and Creed Poole, all of Bremerton; and four sisters, Cathy Elkins of Seattle, and Mitzi Davis, Jenifer Sutton and Dianna Cole, all of Bremerton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Allen.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Kitsap Lake Baptist Church, with interment following at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a trust fund for the education of her 2-year-old son, Thor, C/O Bank of America, 1000 Sixth St. in Bremerton.
Ruth McGregor
Ruth Hicks McGregor, 86, of Renton, formerly of Bremerton, died March 14, 2000, in Renton.
She was born May 9, 1913, in Jefferson County, Okla., to Ira C. and Beulah (Corbin) Hicks. She attended the Woodrow School in Woodrow, Okla., graduating from Ryan High School in Ryan, Okla., in 1931. She completed her education in nursing at the Weeden Hospital Training School for Nurses in Duncan, Okla.
She married
Robert A. McGregor in Santa Ana, Calif., in 1937. The couple moved to Bremerton in 1940. Mr. McGregor preceded his wife in death in 1984.
In the late 1940s, Mrs. McGregor continued her career as a registered nurse on the obstetrics floor at the old Harrison Hospital in Bremerton. She worked for The Doctors Clinic in Bremerton from the 1950s until her retirement in the late 1970s, primarily with Dr. Frederick Drew and Dr. John Stanley.
Survivors include two sons, Robert of Tulsa, Okla., and Charles of Renton; one sister, Ruby Hicks of Owasso, Okla.; one brother, I.C. Hicks Jr. of Tulsa; and four grandchildren, Rachel McGregor Ellsworth and Rebecca McGregor of Renton, Marianne McGregor of Salt Lake City and Jefferson McGregor of Tulsa.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lincoln Avenue Bible Church in Bremerton, followed by a coffee hour at the church. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Dick Colson
Richard "Dick" Andreas Colson, 61, of Poulsbo died March 12, 2000, in Poulsbo.
He was born Sept. 9, 1938, in Emmett, Idaho, to Herman "Brade" and Erma Colson.
He married
Woodena Turley on Dec. 31, 1961, in Elko, Nev. They were later divorced.
Mr. Colson served four years in the Air Force.
He worked for the Idaho Falls Meat Company, King B Meat Co. and other small packing companies in southeast Idaho. He moved to Washington state in 1976, founding Colson Mobile Butchering of Poulsbo, which he owned and operated until the time of his death.
Survivors include his companion, Linda Rhoades of Everett; his mother, now of Lynnwood; two sons, Butch of Bend, Ore., and Richard of Idaho Falls; three daughters, Andrea Goodale of Boise, Idaho, Annette Ropp of Blackfoot, Idaho, and Rachelle Bailey of Idaho Falls; two brothers, Thomas of Anacortes and Frederick of Lynnwood; one sister, LaRae Jacobsen of Lake Stevens; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation is scheduled for 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday and at noon Monday at Coltrin Colonial Mortuary, 2100 First St. in Idaho Falls. A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Monday also at the mortuary, with burial at Fielding Memorial Park in Idaho Falls.
Alice Bakken
Alice Evelyn Bakken, 83, of Bremerton died March 8, 2000, at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born June 25, 1916, in Pembina, N.D., to Ness and Hilda (Eikeness) Jens. She was raised and educated in Fargo, N.D., where she graduated from Central High School in 1934, and from the St. Luke's Hospital nursing program.
She married
Henry "Hank" Bakken on June 25, 1937, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, Minn. They had celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Mrs. Bakken had worked as a registered nurse in Bremerton with Harrison Hospital, the Schutt Clinic and Drs. J.E. Haddon and J.A. Severson.
She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Bremerton, Reliance Chapter 70 Order of the Eastern Star and the Patrol (drill team) for the Daughters of the Nile.
She is survived by her husband.
A funeral service was held Monday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Entombment will take place in Hillcrest Mausoleum at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Albert Haggbloom
Albert Woodrow Haggbloom, 88, of Bremerton died March 9, 2000, at his home.
He was born Jan. 1, 1912, in Chisholm, Minn., to Oscar and Anna (Free) Haggbloom. He moved to Bremerton with his family in 1918, graduating from Bremerton High School in 1932.
He married
Phyllis McLeod on Dec. 23, 1934, in Bremerton. They had celebrated 60 years of marriage before her death in 1995.
Mr. Haggbloom had worked as a printer in Bremerton with several printing companies, including The Sun.
He was a member of the Communication Workers of America, the Printing and Publishing and Media Workers, F.O.E. 2643 of Seattle, a 50-year member of the B.P.O.E. 1181 in Bremerton, a member of the Sons of Norway 35 in Bremerton, a past master of Bremerton Lodge 117 Free and Accepted Masons, a member of Silverdale Lodge 311 Free and Accepted Masons, a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Nile Temple Shrine.
Survivors include one son, Robert of Mesa, Ariz.; one daughter, Janice Deeds of Seattle; two brothers, Paul and Lynn, both of Ballard; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
At his request, there will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel, with cremation at Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo and inurnment at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton.

Nicholas Anderson
Nicholas J. Anderson, 81, of Poulsbo died March 12, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born June 25, 1918, in Latouche, Alaska, to William and Jenny (Demedof) Anderson. He grew up in Afagnak, Alaska.
He married
Adeline J. Ravet on April 3, 1959, in Kodiak, Alaska.
Mr. Anderson worked for 20 years as a carpenter and boat builder at the naval base in Kodiak and in Keyport. He retired in 1968.
He was a member of the masons in Alaska and the Sons of Norway.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Kristian of Anchorage, Alaska; one daughter, Corrine Blackwood of Hawaii; two stepsons, Allen Herbert of Anchorage and Richard Herbert of Poulsbo; one sister, Mary Ketchum of Everett; eight grandchildren, Grace, Victoria and Kristian Anderson, all of Anchorage, David, Jason and Kevin Herbert, all of Poulsbo, and Tina Shook and Deanna; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Willits; three brothers, Billy, Freddy and John; an infant granddaughter; and a previous wife, Dorothy.
Visitation is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home, with a funeral service following at 1:30 p.m. Interment
will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Douglas Jim
Douglas Jim, 52, of Bremerton died March 12, 2000, in Bremerton.
He was born June 10, 1947, in Pago Pago, Samoa, to Keala Tesoa. He was educated in Samoa.
Mr. Jim served in the Navy and the Army. He received the National Defense Service Medal.
He had been a supervisor at shelters for the homeless in Seattle.
He married
Jennifer Bailey on Feb. 19, 2000, in Bremerton.
Survivors include his wife; and two sons, Sean and Christopher, both of Bremerton.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at First Avenue Service Center, 2015 Third Ave., Seattle, WA 98101.
Bill Benchoff Jr.
Carl W. "Bill" Benchoff Jr., 80, of Port Orchard died March 14, 2000, in Port Orchard.
He was born June 6, 1919, in Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., to Carl W. and Annie May (Happel) Benchoff Sr. He grew up in Blue Ridge.
Mr. Benchoff served in the Navy from 1936 until his retirement in 1956. During World War II, he was a boatswain's mate in the Pacific Theater, involved in nine battles, including Pearl Harbor, Midway and Coral Sea. He was stationed aboard nine ships, including USS West Virginia and USS Minneapolis.
He married
Audry Ellen Eatwell in 1946, in Oakland, Calif. She preceded him in death in 1988.
Mr. Benchoff was a mechanical engineer for the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, Calif., for 13-1/2 years, retiring in 1970.
He was a life member of Pearl Harbor Survivors, Ronald Ross Chapter, a member of the Long Lake Community Club, a life member of the National Rifle Association, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 695 in Waynesboro, Pa., a member of American Legion Post 239 in Cascade, Md., and a member of the Fleet Reserve Branch 29 in Bremerton.
Survivors include two brothers, George of Pennsylvania and Robert of Georgia; and one sister, Nancy Smith of Pennsylvania.
A gathering will be held at the home of Cheryl Lockhart from 1 to 3 p.m. March 25. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Joseph Price
Joseph Frederick Price, 65, of Bremerton died March 15, 2000, in Bremerton.
He was born Jan. 4, 1935, in Minot, N.D., to Joseph and June (McKay) Price. He was educated in Missouri.
Mr. Price served in the Navy for 21 years, with five tours of duty in Vietnam.
He and his wife, Helen, were married
March 7, 1978, in Bremerton.
Mr. Price was a member of the Fleet Reserve, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Elks in Bremerton.
Survivors include his wife; his mother and stepfather, June and Warren Koehler of Renton; one son; one daughter; several stepchildren; one brother, Jerry of Bremerton; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Laura Swett
Laura Olive Swett, 73, of Gorst died March 13, 2000, in Everett.
She was born Jan. 23, 1927, in Clatskanie, Ore., to William and Cynthia (Wilcox) Surratt. She grew up in Shelton, graduating from Shelton High School in 1945.
She was a homemaker and a member of Belfair Assembly of God.
Survivors include one son, Perry of Portland, Ore.; one daughter, Elaine Rodriguez of Everett; and five grandchildren. Her husband, John, preceded her in death in 1999.
A graveside service is planned for 3 p.m. Friday at Twin Firs cemetery in Belfair, followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. at Belfair Assembly of God. Arrangements are under the direction of Kass Funeral Home on Bainbridge Island.
