Elsie Brockman
Elsie Mae Brockman, 92, of Eglon died March 13, 2000, at Martha & Mary Health Care Center in Poulsbo.
She was born Nov. 13, 1907, in Eglon to Amos and Hannah (Anderson) Bevens. She was raised and educated in Eglon, attending Eglon Grammar School (a one-room schoolhouse) and graduating from Garfield High School in Seattle.
She married
Charles Andrew Brockman in 1938. They had been married
57 years when he preceded her in death in 1995.
Mrs. Brockman became the postmistress at the Eglon Post Office and general store in 1938, working there until 1963, when the post office closed. From 1940 to 1960, she and her husband built and operated Brockman's Resort. In 1965, she went to work for Boyer Tug and Barge Co. She was a cook there for many years.
Survivors include one son, Charles "Chuck" of Eglon; two daughters, J. Maxine Nussbaumer of Eglon and Phyllis Lindahl of Poulsbo; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo, with a committal service following at Eglon cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
Patricia Poole
Patricia Jean Eileen Poole, 26, of Bremerton died March 9, 2000, in Bremerton of injuries suffered in a truck accident.
She was born Aug. 14, 1973, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Sheldon and Judy (McVeigh) Poole. She grew up in Bremerton, attending Bremerton High School.
Survivors include her companion, Montrose Teague; her mother, Judy Siliven of Bremerton; her stepfather, David Siliven of Arizona; her son, Thor Teague of Bremerton; four brothers, Randy Siliven of California, and David Siliven Jr., Dominic McVeigh and Creed Poole, all of Bremerton; and four sisters, Cathy Elkins of Seattle, and Mitzi Davis, Jenifer Sutton and Dianna Cole, all of Bremerton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Allen.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday at Kitsap Lake Baptist Church, with interment following at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a trust fund for the education of her 2-year-old son, Thor, c/o of Bank of America, 1000 Sixth St. in Bremerton.
Lee Eyler
Lee Earl Eyler, 79, of Bremerton died March 13, 2000, in Bremerton of respiratory failure.
He was born June 27, 1920, in Galvin to George and Golda (Rongey) Eyler. He grew up in Camp Union.
He married
Nadine W. Bond in Chehalis on Dec. 24, 1942.
Mr. Eyler was a mechanic with Kitsap County Road District Three for 13 years, retiring in 1975. Previously, he was a mechanic for the Central Kitsap School District.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Sharon Brown of Quilcene, Marlene Leyva of Bremerton and Gayle Wilbur of Olympia; two brothers, George and Glen, both of Bremerton; two sisters, Ruth Hanf of Bremerton and Jean Cooper of Sequim; four grandchildren, Travis Affonce of Bremerton, Gia Stith of New Jersey, Stephanie Wilbur of Olympia and Mathy Bertels of Tennessee; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. Monday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home, with a memorial service following at 1 p.m.
Curtis Atkins
Former Bremerton resident Curtis Franklin Atkins, 72, of Gig Harbor died March 5, 2000, in Gig Harbor of natural causes.
He was born May 17, 1927, in Bremerton to Frank and Mildred (Curtis) Atkins. He grew up in Bremerton, graduating from Bremerton High School.
Mr. Atkins served in the Navy as a photographer's mate from 1945 to 1952. He was stationed in San Pedro, Calif., and in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
He worked in camera sales for approximately 48 years. At the time of his death, he was employed by The Camera Shop in Tacoma, where he had worked for the past 25 years.
Mr. Atkins was a member of the Lake Holiday Homeowners Association and many other charitable organizations.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Dorothy Tucker
Dorothy M. Tucker, 83, a resident of Port Orchard since 1978, died March 13, 2000, at Ridgemont Terrace.
She was born June 20, 1916, in Seattle to Harry and Marie (Johnson) Tucker. She grew up in Ballard, graduating from Ballard High School in 1934, and graduating from secretarial school in Seattle in 1936.
She worked for the U.S. Department of Immigration and Naturalization for 34 years, retiring in 1971. She had been the private secretary for the head of the department, working in offices in Washington, D.C., Spokane and Seattle, where she completed her service.
She was an active member of the Eagles Auxiliary.
Survivors include two brothers-in-law, Tom Endsley of Port Orchard and Elder Shattuck of Omak; one sister-in-law, Lucy Tucker of Port Orchard; and a niece, Mary Lou Christie of Port Orchard.
Visitation is scheduled from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 10 a.m. Thursday, also at Rill Chapel, followed by interment at 1 p.m. at Washelli cemetery in Seattle.

Linda Bisbee
Linda Lee Bisbee, 66, of Bremerton died March 14, 2000, in Bremerton.
She was born April 28, 1933, in Auburn, Calif., to Albert and Elsie Virginia Bisbee.
She was retired from The Boeing Co., where she worked for 37-1/2 years.
Survivors include a brother, Richard Bisbee, and a sister, Susan Edwards Armbruster.
A private memorial will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements are by American Memorial in Tacoma.
Albert Haggbloom
Albert Woodrow Haggbloom, 88, of Bremerton died March 9, 2000, at his home.
He was born Jan. 1, 1912, in Chisholm, Minn., to Oscar and Anna (Free) Haggbloom. He came to Bremerton with his family in 1918, graduating from Bremerton High School in 1932.
He married
Phyllis McLeod on Dec. 23, 1934, in Bremerton. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before her death in 1995.
Mr. Haggbloom had worked as a printer in Bremerton with several local printing companies, including The Sun.
He was a member of the Communication Workers of America, the Printing and Publishing and Media Workers, FOE 2643 of Seattle, a 50-year member of the BPOE 1181 in Bremerton, a member of the Sons of Norway 35 in Bremerton, a past master of Bremerton Lodge 117 Free and Accepted Masons, a member of Silverdale Lodge 311 Free and Accepted Masons, a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Nile Temple Shrine.
Survivors include one son, Robert of Mesa, Ariz.; one daughter, Janice Deeds of Seattle; one brother, Paul of Ballard; and one sister, Lynn of Ballard; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
At his request, there will be no services. Arrangements are by Lewis Funeral Chapel, with cremation at Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo and inurnment at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton.

Helen Coughlin
Helen T. Coughlin, 84, of Poulsbo died March 14, 2000, at Ridgemont Terrace.
She was born Aug. 25, 1915, in Yakima to Frank and Della Marie (Revard) Baker. She grew up in Everett.
She married
Al Coughlin. They were divorced, and he preceded her in death.
She and her husband owned a Taylor Shop in Moses Lake and on Whidbey Island. She had been a seamstress for 25 years.
She attended Catholic churches in the communities where she lived.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Wilma Baker of Tahuya. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Baker in 1998.
At her request, there will be no services. Arrangements are by Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Nicholas Anderson
Nicholas J. Anderson, 81, of Poulsbo died March 12, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born June 25, 1918, in Latouche, Alaska, to William and Jenny (Demedof) Anderson. He grew up in Afagnak, Alaska.
He married
Adeline J. Rovet on April 3, 1959, in Kodiak, Alaska.
Mr. Anderson worked for 20 years as a carpenter and boat builder at the naval base in Kodiak and in Keyport. He retired in 1968.
He was a member of the masons in Alaska and the Sons of Norway.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Chris of Anchorage, Alaska; one daughter, Corrine Blackwood of Hawaii; two stepsons, Allen Herbert of Anchorage and Richard Herbert of Poulsbo; one sister, Mary Ketchum of Everett; eight grandchildren, Grace, Victoria and Kris Anderson, all of Anchorage, David, Jason and Kevin Herbert, all of Poulsbo, and Tina Shook and Deanna; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Willits; three brothers, Billy, Freddy and John; an infant granddaughter; and a previous wife, Dorothy.
Visitation is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home, with a funeral service following at 1:30 p.m. Interment
will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Theodore Portmann
Theodore Portmann, 90, of Poulsbo died March 10, 2000, in Poulsbo.
He was born July 6, 1909, in Parkland to Leo and Sophie (Renggli) Portmann. He attended school to eighth grade because he was needed on the family dairy farm.
He married
Haldis Amundsen on Aug. 13, 1938, in Seattle.
Mr. Portmann and his wife owned a 200-acre dairy farm in Kent until 1949 when they moved to Kitsap County. He began working at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1950 as a pipefitter.
The Portmanns returned to dairy farming in 1956, purchasing 90 acres off Minder Road in North Kitsap. They remained dairy farmers until 1965, when Mr. Portmann retired and sold the farm. They had been the Dairy Farmers of the Year in Kitsap County in 1957.
During the 1960s, he was the director of the Federal Land Bank in Tacoma.
He was a life member of the Swiss Society of Tacoma and a member of First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo, serving on the church board.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ted of Poulsbo and Dick of Arizona; one daughter, Joy Vchulek of Lynnwood; two sisters, Lena Herbert of Sumner and Sophie Holert of Seattle; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church. A private, family interment will be held at First Lutheran Church cemetery. Arrangements are by Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.

Betty Malven
Betty Maxine Malven, 79, of Bremerton died March 9, 2000, in Silverdale.
She was born April 2, 1920, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Robert Miller Burt and Jean McCleary (Pender). She attended school in Provo, Utah.
She married
Charles J. Malven on June 20, 1945, in Lowry Field, Colo.
Mrs. Malven was a homemaker. She had worked as a registered nurse for Dr. J.A. Severson in Bremerton.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Maryann Ness of Mercer Island; a sister, Catherine Carreon; and three grandchildren.
No service will be held. Cremation will be at Cherry Grove Memorial Park. Arrangements are being handled by Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Dean Brott
Dean Brott, 67, of Bremerton died March 10, 2000, at Bremerton Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born May 17, 1932, in Tacoma to Leo and Olga Brott Sr. He grew up in Bremerton, graduating from Bremerton High School in 1951, and attended the University of Montana, where he played football.
Mr. Brott served in the Army at the time of the Korean War. He was stationed in Austria.
He worked in banking for People's Bank in Bremerton and in Silverdale for both Kitsap Bank and Kitsap Community Federal Credit Union.
Survivors include his wife, Jo; three sons, Bret of Port Orchard, Tracy of Bremerton and Darryn of Seattle; three brothers, Leo and Don, both of Bremerton, and his twin brother, Dale, of Monterey, Calif.; one sister, Lorraine Fetterolf Brott of Philadephia; and three grandchildren.
No funeral service is planned at this time. A family celebration of his life will be held in August. Cremation is under the direction of Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.
