Omie Gardiner
Omie T. Gardiner, 90, of Bremerton died Feb 29, 2000, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bremerton.
She was born Oct. 31, 1909, in Kaycee, Wyo. She attended school in Kaycee and in Buffalo, and graduated from the University of Wyoming with a teaching degree.
On July 30, 1937, she married
Dolf Gardiner in Casper, Wyo. Shortly before World War II they moved to Bremerton, where both were employed at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. Mrs. Gardiner worked as a bookkeeper for the PSNS Restaurant Association until her retirement.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Bremerton. She also was a past worthy matron of Philathea Chapter and a member of the Reliance Chapter 10 of Order of Eastern Star, as well as past worthy high priestess of White Shrine.
Mr. Gardiner preceded her in death in 1969. Survivors include a brother, T.D. "Bunny" Taylor of Kaycee, Wyo.; two nephews raised since childhood by the Gardiners, Bob Clinton of Chico, Calif., and Tommy Clinton of Bremerton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church of Bremerton. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 811 Veneta Ave., Bremerton, 98310.

LuVina Duke
LuVina Duke, 77, of Bremerton died Feb. 27, 2000, at her home.
She was born Sept. 27, 1922, in Holdrege, Neb., to Clarence E. and Helen (Moye) Lofquist. She spent her childhood and most of her adult life in Seattle.
She married
Angus C. Duke on June 5, 1943, at the Santa Ana Army Air Base in California.
Mrs. Duke was a talented artist, specializing in batik, needlepoint and sewing. She also was an avid gardener and longtime member of the Greenlake Lawn Bowling Club in Seattle. She was a past American Women's National Lawn Bowls Association champion, and a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Battin of Keyport; a son-in-law, Donald Battin of Keyport; two sisters, Joyce of Arizona and Betty of California; six grandchildren, Steven, Rachel, Linda, Sheila, Angus and April; a step-granddaughter, Crystal; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by Angus, her husband of nearly 52 years, and by a son, Angus Jr.
At her request, no services were held. Inurnment will be under the direction of Evergreen-Washelli in Seattle. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate her life will be held at her daughter's home on Saturday, March 11 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Kathryn Mullins
Kathryn Nan Mullins, 78, of Port Orchard died Feb. 26, 2000, in Port Orchard.
She was born May 8, 1921, in Quitman, Miss., to George M. and Edna E. (Rietezel) Donald. She was raised and educated in Los Angeles, graduating from Washington High School.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Mullins was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Mullins. Survivors include two sons, Marvin Irish of Port Orchard and Stewart Irish of Fontana, Calif.; a daughter, Marsha Tucker of Bellflower, Calif.; a sister, Betty McLeod of Oakdale, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
No services are planned. Cremation will be at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.

Robert Kimball
Robert Eugene Kimball, 72, of Poulsbo died March 1, 2000, at Martha & Mary Health Care Center in Poulsbo.
He was born Sept. 18, 1927, in Bremerton to Ernest and Margaret (Erstad) Kimball. He lived in Manette and Tracyton, where he was educated.
He married
Isabell (Jack) Kimball on Dec. 25, 1948, in Bremerton.
He was self-employed as a brickmason contractor.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, Margaret Kimball of Silverdale; three sons, Melvin Kimball of Bremerton, and William D. Kimball and Robert G. Kimball, both of Poulsbo; a daughter, Christine Nash of Thorne Bay, Alaska; and nine grandchildren, Sarah and Mary Nash, both of Thorne Bay, and Timothy, Mason, Corrinne, Joshua, Christine, Isaac and Rachel Kimball, all of Poulsbo.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Christ Memorial Church in Poulsbo. Private interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetary. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Norman Wallace Jones
Norman Wallace Jones, 85, of Bremerton died Feb. 26, 2000, in Bremerton.
He was born on July 10, 1914, in Hamilton, Montana, to Eli Jones and Ruby (White) Jones. He graduated from Union High School in Bremerton.
Mr. Jones was in the Navy from 1935 to 1941, serving as an Electrician's Mate 1st Class on the USS Lexington. He worked at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 35 years and for Jones Brothers Small Construction for 25 years. He retired in 1994.
He married
Mildred L. Jones on Nov. 24, 1990, in Bremerton.
Mr. Jones was a member of the Masonic Order Steadfast Lodge No. 216, the USS Lexington CV2 Minutemen Club, and the Elks Club.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Raymond Jones of Port Orchard and Kenneth Mark Jones of Bremerton; a daughter, Norma May Lien of Poulsbo; a brother, Robert Jones of Bremerton; and 10 grandchildren, Michael Lanning, Ann Lanning, Kit Jones, David Jones, Lope Jones, Baer Jones, Volney Jones, Kristy Jones, Linda Jameson, and Cindi Starr. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret L. Jones.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Family of God Lutheran Church at 7625 Central Valley Road.

John Higson
John Reynolds Higson, 72, of Allyn died Feb. 29, 2000, in Allyn.
He was born July 21, 1927, to Ramona and Francis Higson in White Plains, N.Y. He attended Columbia University in New York, Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, and Bethany College in West Virginia in conjunction with Naval Reserve aviation cadet program. He received a bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.
Mr. Higson lived on Mercer Island from 1966 to 1970, and from 1976 to 1992. He retired from The Boeing Co. as a systems engineer in 1992.
Survivors include Marge, his wife of 42 years; a sister, Dorothy Gates, of Milwaukee, Wisc.; two daughters, Jill Higson of Santa Monica, Calif., and Lesley Dougherty of Bellevue; a son, Scott of Newcastle, Wash.; and grandchildren Brendan and Kendall Dougherty of Bellevue.

Jessie Burns
Jessie Louise Burns, 68, of Bremerton died Feb. 24, 2000, in Bremerton.
She was born June 15, 1931, in Henderson, Ky., to Henry and Stella (Rigney) Ferguson. She spent her childhood in Henderson, graduating from high school there.
She married
LeRoy Burns on Aug. 26, 1968.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Linda French of Lynnwood; two sisters, Mildred Walker and Ruby Phillips, both of Henderson; and three grandchildren, Jason and Gina Saltzman of Bremerton and Kent Micheal Smith of Lynnwood.
A private service was held, followed by inurnment under the direction of the American Memorial Association.
Randall Pote
Randall I. Pote, 84, of Olalla died Feb. 25, 2000, at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.
He was born March 29, 1915, in Fontanelle, Iowa, to Cleo and Bertha (McLain) Pote. He was raised in Iowa and graduated from Adair High School in Adair, Iowa. On March 10, 1938, he married
Hazel E. White. She preceded him in death Jan. 25, 2000.
Mr. Pote was in the Army from 1944 to 1947, serving with the Army Engineers in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
He was employed as a marine engineer for 50 years.
Survivors include a son, Mike Pote of Olalla; three sisters; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephan Pote; a daughter, Pamella Mangus; and a brother, John Pote.
No services are planned. Inurnment will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fraola cemetery in Port Orchard.

Raymond Hanson
Raymond Willard Hanson, 86, of Tracyton died March 1, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born June 29, 1913, in Wolf Creek, Wis., to Oscar and Anna (Brown) Hanson. He was raised in Minneapolis, Minn., where he graduated from high school.
He married
Marvyl (Anderson) Hanson on Sept. 9, 1934 in Waverly, Iowa.
Mr. Hanson was an assistant manager for Woolworth stores in North Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa. He owned the Essex Hardware Store in Essex, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife; a son, William W. Hanson of Bremerton; two daughters, Mary Serbousek of Bremerton and Lorna Glasgo of Essex, Iowa; and eight grandchildren, David, Steve, Jill, Amy, Julie, Billy, Susan and Sonja.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 2509 Perry Ave., Bremerton.
Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Memorial Park, with inurnment at Essex cemetery in Essex, Iowa.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Ruth Ann Sunderlin
Ruth Ann Sunderlin, 91, of Bremerton died Feb. 25, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born July 26, 1908, in Ft. Steele, Wyo., to Charles and Alta (Hewlett) Parker. Mrs. Sunderlin was raised in Haugen, Mont.
She married
Harold Sunderlin in Superior, Mont. He preceded her in death in 1998.
Mrs. Sunderlin was a member of the Sunnyslope Volunteer Fire Department, The Bremerton Carpenter Auxiliary, Eyes Aloft in Sunnyslope, The Sunnyslope Improvement Club, Kitsap County Bowling Association and the Sunnyslope Homemaker's Club.
She is survived by her two sons, Glen Sunderlin and Thomas Sunderlin, both of Port Orchard; two sisters, Dorothy Anderson of Grass Valley, Calif., and Lois Coleman of Tacoma; and six grandchildren, Tanna Sunderlin of Seattle, Susan Thomas of Bainbridge Island, Therese Mendenhall of Port Orchard, Nicole Sandy of Bremerton, Anne Marie Kamm of Oregon and Stacey Sunderlin of Colorado.
There are no funeral services.
Harriet Ross
Harriet F. Ross, 79, of Belfair died Feb. 28, 2000, at Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle.
She was born Oct. 11, 1920, in Sumner, Iowa, to Claude and Perle Nuss. She moved to the Seattle-Renton area at the age of 17.
She was a homemaker and also worked for Boeing Aircraft Co. in Renton in the tool shop, and J.C. Penney in Renton as a retail clerk.
She married
Patrick C. Ross on July 2, 1940, in Ballard.
Mrs. Ross was a board member of the Mason County Food Bank and a member of the Tawana Falls Women's Club. She also served as Rocky Bay Convalescent Center volunteer birthday coordinator.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Robert Ross of Kirkland and Richard Ross of Belfair; one sister, Dolly Coonrod of Kent; and five grandchildren, Wendy Whitney of Renton, Richard Ross of Michigan, Casey Ross of Tacoma, Carley Ross of Kirkland and Joel Ross of Oregon.
A service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard under the arrangement of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home.
