Darrell Floyd
Darrell B. "Dingle" Floyd, 84, of Silverdale died Feb. 24, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Oct. 1, 1915, in Charleston to Charles and Lillian Floyd. He grew up in Bremerton, graduating from Bremerton High School in 1934.
Mr. Floyd served in the Army from 1941 to 1945 and was a World War II veteran.
He married Jeannine Short on Dec. 15, 1945. She preceded him in death in 1993.
Mr. Floyd was a battalion chief with the Bremerton Fire Department. He worked for the department from 1946 until his retirement in 1975.
He also worked as a bartender at the Tyee Restaurant for several years and at the Elks Club. He was a football referee for West and East high schools during the 1960s and 1970s.
Mr. Floyd was a life member of William H. Upton Masonic Lodge 206, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 239 and Elks Lodge 1181.
He is survived by Judith Leuchts Voshall and Janice Crouch, whom he regarded as his "honorary daughters, " and their families.
A memorial service and reception will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Elks Lodge on Pine Road in Bremerton. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to Rescue 1, c/o Bremerton Fire Department, Attention: Carole, 817 Pacific Ave., Bremerton, WA 98337, (payable to the City Treasurer).

Emelia Quesada
Emelia R. Quesada, 79, of Port Orchard died Feb. 26, 2000, at home.
She was born July 15, 1920, in Watrous, N.M.
Ms. Quesada was a member of the Fleet Reserve.
She is survived by two daughters, Juanita Gaskill of Port Orchard and Cathy Lansville of Barstow, Calif.; one sister, Mary Susan Truitt of Caledonia, Mich; six grandchildren, Laura Jackson, John and Billy Lansville, all of California, Jerry Packer and Ken Wolfe, both of Kent, and Jeff Gaskill of Bremerton; six great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.

Cecil Bader
Former longtime Port Orchard resident Cecil J. Bader died Feb. 26, 2000, in Quincy, Ill.
He was a contractor and homebuilder for 26 years.
He moved to Missouri in 1971 and then back to Port Orchard in 1997 after the death of his wife, Nellie B. He later returned to Canton, Mo.
Burial was Tuesday in St. Patrick, Mo.

Sharon Nelson
Sharon Lee Nelson, 59, of Kingston died Feb. 27, 2000, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 11, 1940, in Lander, Wyo., to Glenn E. and Dulcie Frye.
She was raised in Wyoming and Montana, graduating from Absarkee High School in Absarkee, Mont.
On Sept. 23, 1966, she married Laurence H. Nelson in Billings, Mont.
Mrs. Nelson worked as a homemaker.
She was a life member of the Good Sams Club, Sounder Sams Chapter, the Wacktickeh Camp Grounds, and was a co-founder of the Olympic Peninsula Antique Tractor and Engine Association.
She is survived by her husband; her parents, Dulcie Frye of Lynnwood and Craig E. Frye of Las Vegas; one son, Kerry Lee of Houston; four daughters, Melanie Pruiett of Kingston, Sue Ellen Campbell of Mount Vernon, Denise Nickel of Langley, B.C., Canada, and Danelle Nelson Green of Snohomish; three sisters, Dolores Morris and Betty Huddle, both of Lynnwood, and Darlene Frye of Portland, Ore.; and 13 grandchildren.
A service will be at 2 p.m., Friday at First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo with inurnment at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stone Chapel, Poulsbo Mortuary.

Edwin Heise
Edwin August Heise, 86, of Bremerton died Feb. 25, 2000, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 16, 1913, in Canby, Minn., to Albert R. and Augusta (Nack) Heise.
He attended school in Minnesota.
Mr. Heise served in the Army during World War II.
He was decorated with two bronze combat stars and the Purple Heart, as well as other honors. He was wounded in action in New Guinea on July 3, 1945.
He worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a supplyman, retiring in 1970.
He was a member of Disabled American Vets, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Kitsap Humane Society.
Survivors include one son, Jerry of Port Orchard; two daughters, Judy Heise and Linda Dudley, both of Bremerton; six sisters, Laura Gruber of Montevideo, Minn., Wilma Porter of Minnesota, Evelyn Anderson, Lorraine Swartz, and Arlene Thompson, all of St. Paul, Minn., and Mabel Nielsen of Mississippi; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Lewis Funeral Chapel with burial following at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Memorials may be made Multiple Sclerosis Society, 192 Nickerson Street, Seattle, WA 98109.

Marie Carney
Marie Elise Carney, 82, of Bremerton, died Feb. 27, 2000, at her home.
She was born April 22, 1917, in St. Louis, Mo. Mrs. Carney was a registered nurse, working for 46 years in obstetrics and public health. During World War II, she served in the Army Nursing Corps. She lived in Los Angeles for 30 years before moving to Bremerton seven years ago.
Mrs. Carney recently authored a book, "Come Walk With Me Against All Odds, " an autobiographical story of American nursing. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church, Order of Eastern Star and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Leonard L. Carney, her husband of 53 years, preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Patrick of Bremerton; a daughter, Linda Ann Carney Young of North Carolina; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Haven of Rest Memorial Park in Gig Harbor. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Washington Affiliate, 44114 Woodland Park Ave. N, Seattle, WA 98103.

Lyle Froggatt
Lyle Henry Froggatt, 94, of Apache Junction, Ariz., died Jan. 29, 2000, in Apache Junction.
He was born Sept. 15, 1905, in Tacoma, to William H. and Ruby M. (Christner) Froggatt. He grew up in Tacoma, attending high school there.
Mr. Froggatt served in the Navy for four years, stationed in California.
He worked as the lead man in Shop 02 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He retired in 1961 after 37 years.
He was a member of the National Association of Federal Employees.
Survivors include his wife of the family home; one son, Lyle of Honolulu, Hawaii; one brother, Billy of Honolulu; and four grandchildren, Warren of Honolulu, S. Howard and Stanley Jr., both of Bremerton and Lanna of Tacoma; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Stanley.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Marjorie Johnson
Marjorie E. Johnson, 73, of Kingston died of lupus Feb. 25, 2000, at Martha & Mary Health Care Center in Poulsbo.
She was born Oct. 3, 1926, in Brinnon to Clifford and Edith Sharp. She was raised in Brinnon and Seattle, attending Lincoln High School in Seattle.
She married Chuck Johnson in April 1970.
She was active in the Kingston Fourth of July celebrations.
Survivors include her husband of Kingston; three sons, Rob Christensen of Marysville, Ron Johnson of Bothell and Larry Johnson of Mukilteo; two daughters, Karin Christensen of Bremerton and Dar Johnson of Mukilteo; two brothers, Bud Sharp of Arlington and Dave Sharp of Camano Island; a sister, Fran Urtel of La Habra, Calif.; and 14 grandchildren in Washington state.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Kingston Christian Church.

Jessie Burns
Jessie Louise Burns, 68, of Bremerton, died Feb. 24, 2000. in Bremerton.
She was born June 15, 1931, in Henderson, Ky., to Henry and Stella (Rigney) Ferguson. She spent her childhood in Henderson, graduating from high school there.
She married LeRoy Burns on Aug. 26, 1968. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter; Linda French of Lynnwood; two sisters, Mildred Walker and Ruby Phillips, both of Henderson; and three grandchildren, Jason and Gina Saltzman of Bremerton and Kent Micheal Smith of Lynnwood.
A private service was held, followed by inurnment under the direction of the American Memorial Association.

Phyllis Ouellette
Phyllis Laura Ouellette, 81, of Poulsbo died Feb. 24, 2000, at Martha & Mary Health Care Center.
She was born July 4, 1918, in Amalgia, Utah, to William and Laura (Meyers) Jones, and was one of 10 children.
She was raised and attended school in Logan, Utah.
Most recently, she was a homemaker. She and her first husband, Jack Goldstein, lived in Seattle in the 1940s, and she worked for Burts Bakery and in the auditing department of Sears. She later moved to Heron Island and during that time opened the Homestead Restaurant in Home.
Her first husband died in 1966.
She remarried in 1978, to Charles "Alex" Ouellette, and they moved to Aberdeen. The couple opened an antiques and collectibles shop called House of Charles in their Aberdeen home.
Five years ago, they moved to Poulsbo.
She is survived by her husband of Poulsbo; a son, John Goldstein of Westport; a daughter, Maxine Bruntzel of Poulsbo; three sisters, Margaret Terry, Nina Sheffield and Ella Johnson, all of Utah; six grandchildren, Mike Freeland of Wisconsin, Debbie Buhl of Bremerton, David Freeland of Seattle, Laura Murray of Silverdale, Greg Bruntzel of Port Orchard and Pamela Herrick of Puyallup; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bruntzel home in Poulsbo. Memorial donations may be made to Martha & Mary Health Care Center, P.O. Box 127, Poulsbo, WA 98370.
Arrangements are by Poulsbo Mortuary "The Stone Chapel" of Poulsbo.

Margaret Steele
Margaret Elizabeth Steele, 83, of Kingston died Feb. 26, 2000, at Martha & Mary Nursing Home in Poulsbo.
She was born March 12, 1916, in Rochester, N.Y., to Floyd and Charlotte (Macy) Clarke. Her mother died while she was very young, and she was raised by her grandmother in Seattle.
She was a homemaker.
She and her late husband, Walter, were charter members of the Bainbridge Island Baptist Church, and she was a former member of the church's Lydian Group.
She is survived by a son, Leonard of Edmonds; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A grandchild and her husband preceded her in death.
A visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the Poulsbo Mortuary. A funeral will be at noon Tuesday at the Bainbridge Island Baptist Church. A reception will follow at the church. A private graveside service will be at Cherry Grove Memorial Park. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Western & Central Washington, 1422 NW 85th St., Seattle, WA 98117.
