Zackary Larson
Zackary Brian Michael Larson, two weeks old, of Gig Harbor died Aug. 30, 1998.
He was born Aug. 15, 1998, in Tacoma.
His loving family members are: his parents, Brian and Deane of Gig Harbor; his brother, Zane of the family home in Gig Harbor; his grandparents, Cindy and Mark Collett and Tracy and Leonard Larson, all of Olalla; great-grandparents, Patricia and Frank Jamison of Dayton and Diane McArty of Yakima; great-great-grandparents, Perry and Evelyn Hankins of Kennewick and Elsie Grubb of Douglas, Ariz.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 3 at Haven of Rest Chapel, Highway 16, Gig Harbor.
Victor Mills
Victor Levi Mills, 98, of Bremerton died Sept. 1, 1998, at his home.
He was born Nov. 9, 1899, in Eagle Lake, Minn., to Olney and Lucy (Mosher) Mills. He came to Kitsap County in 1905 and has resided here ever since. He was raised and educated in Port Orchard.
He married
his first wife, Gertrude Morgan in 1921 in Bremerton. She preceded him in death on July 12, 1979. He then married
Hazel Gault on March 3, 1985, in Bremerton.
He began his apprenticeship at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and worked there until his retirement on July 14, 1958 as Master in the sheetmetal shop.
When he was younger, he was active in the scouts. He was a member of the Lincoln Avenue Bible Church, the Bremerton Lodge No. 117 F. and A. M., life member of the Elks, Past President of the Masters and Foremans Association, PSNS, and had been the longest living member of the Sheetmetal Workers International Union.
Survivors include his wife Hazel; a son, Melvin of Auburn; a stepson, James Littell of North Carolina; a stepdaughter, Tina Pappas of Bremerton; four grandchildren, David, Steve, Victor and Susan; two great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sept. 4 at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Interment
will be at Sunset Lane cemetery, Port Orchard.

Theodore Fauntz
Theodore C. "Ted" Fauntz, 93, of Retsil died Aug. 30, 1998, at Washington Veterans Home.
He was born Aug. 25, 1905, in New Orleans, La. He graduated from high school in Chicago, Ill. in 1923. He went on to graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. in 1927, and from the Naval Finance and Supply School in Philadelphia, Pa. in 1935.
On June 1, 1929, he married
Dorothy Lyons. She preceded him in death in 1960. In 1962 he married
Janet Davis. She preceded him in death in 1985.
Mr. Fauntz received a Congressional appointment to the Navy in 1923, serving until 1953. He served in Cavite, Philippine Islands and South China patrol aboard the USS Mindanao, the Battle of Midway, the Doolittle Raid and Guadalcanal aboard the USS Vincennes, the Brazilian expeditionary Force as a supply officer, M.S.T.S./NorPac in Seattle as a supply officer. He received the Purple Heart. He also served aboard the USS Mississippi, stationed at San Diego Naval Station, Naval Torpedo Station, Newport, R. I. and San Pedro, Calif. He achieved the rank of Commander. He later made his living as a purchasing agent for the City of Seattle for 15 years until his retirement.
He was a member of the Masonic Order-AAONMS for 50 years, a life member of the Nile Shrine Temple, Past Masters Club, Nile Temple, a life member of the Scottish Rite, a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, the National Sojournes, National Association Legions of Honor, the Royal Order of Scotland, the Order of DeMolay, Round Table International, Goose and Gridiron Club, Washington Generals and he was also one of the original Seafair Pirates.
Survivors include a daughter, Catherine Hall of Port Orchard; a sister, Ruth Tompkins of Largo, Fla.; four grandchildren, Duff Hall of Corvallis, Ore., Pamela Hall of Portland, Ore., Stacy Brink of Phoenix, Ariz., and Julie Hall of Kensington, N.H.; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sept.4 at the Scottish Rites Masonic Center in Seattle. Interment
will be Sept. 4 at the Evergreen Washelli cemetery in Seattle.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Victoria de Ramirez
Victoria R. de Ramirez, 83, of Silverdale died Aug. 25, 1998, at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She died after cardiac arrest.
She was born April 12, 1915, in Manila, Philippines, to Francisco and Cristina (Cabalan) del Rosario. She was raised and educated in Manila.
On Nov. 19, 1942, she married
Salvador R. Ramirez Sr. in the Philippines. He preceded her in death in 1989.
She was a member of the Fellowship of Prayer, Dorcas Circle, Filipino Ministry and Ellinwood-Malate Church in the Philippines.
She is survived by four sons; Salvador E. Jr. of Houston, Vicente T., Vittorio J. and Alexander J. Ramirez, all of the Philippines; five daughters, Lauren V. Ramirez of Houston, Miriam Hizo, Barbara L. Vista, Victoria C. Bacani, all of the Philippines, and Hipolita I. Gutierrez of Oman; and two sisters, Aurora Corpuz and Corazon Del Rosario, both of the Philippines. She is also survived by many grandchildren, Mary Ann, Josephine, Ramon Jr., Terry, Elmer Francis, Rietzchelle, Eileen-wood Sheila, Erwin Vincent, Cristina, Grace Hipolita, Jose Miguel, Charina Marie, Carlo Anton, May Carlota, Dennis, Dana Belle Hazel, L. Mayrichelle, L. Biyaya, L. Blessings, L. Siyanawa, L. Alelujah, Julius Erving, Jamaica Eidelweis, Trinity Jaguar, Jeniffer Joy, Vittorio Jose and Mizzah; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A prayer vigil was held at 1 p.m. Aug. 31, at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at Ellinwood-Malate Church, 1660 Vasquez, Manila, with the date and time of service to be announced. Local arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel. Rizal Funeral Home will handle the arrangements in the Philippines.
Cecelia 'Sally' Palmer
Cecelia C. "Sally" Palmer, 81, of Bremerton died Aug. 28, 1998, of natural causes.
She was born March 23, 1917, in Ellis, Kan., to Joseph and Katie (Dinkel) Storm. She was raised in Kansas.
She was a member of the Altar Society.
Survivors include two sons, Delbert of Port Orchard and Donald of Antioch, Calif.; a brother, Hank Storm of Boise, Idaho; two sisters, Mary Frank of Hutchison, Kan., and Tina Moller of Denver, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Vigil services will be Sept. 2; funeral services will be Sept. 3, both in Gering, Neb.
Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Scotts Bluff, Neb.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel and Gering Memorial Chapel at Gering, Neb.
Truman Jones
Truman S. Jones, 72, of Retsil died Aug. 23, 1998.
He was born May 27, 1926, in Electra, Texas.
Mr. Jones served in the Navy during World War II. He later made his living in the construction field until his retirement.
Survivors include three brothers, Jim and John, both of Raymond, and Hurl of Elma; and four sisters, Dorothy of Raymond, Juanita Owens of Elma, Genevia Freto of Richfield, and Rosalee Larsen of Raymond.
Memorial services were conducted in Retsil at the Washington Veterans Home.
Interment will be at the Retsil Veterans cemetery.

Marie Alness
Marie L. Alness, 77, of Poulsbo died Aug. 28, 1998.
She was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Bremerton to John and Ella Hollingsworth. She was raised in Bremerton and attended Bremerton High School.
On April 2, 1948, she married
Gurvis Alness in Bremerton. They had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Alness was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Ronald of Bothel and Richard of Poulsbo; and a sister, Erane Epoch, Texas.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 1 at Stone Chapel. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sept. 2, also at Stone Chapel, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove.
Dorothy Buffington
Dorothy J. Buffington, 72, of Bremerton died Aug. 27, 1998, at Harrison Memorial Hospital of natural causes.
She was born Jan. 22, 1926, in California to Costello Robinson and Freda Mathews. She was raised in California, and later in Belfair.
Survivors include three sons, Kevin Keith of Lacey, John of Puyallup and Allen of Great Falls, Mont.; two daughters, Grace Smith-Parker of Bremerton and Barbara Knapstead of Auburn; two brothers, Neil and Kelvin Robinson, both of Bremerton; a sister, Margeret Vega of Torrence, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Buffington.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 2 with funeral services immediately following at Rill Chapel.
Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Ulric Bachand
Ulric "Curley" Bachand, 76, of Manchester died Oct. 18, 1998, at Harrison Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
He was born April 11, 1922, in Clyde, Kan. to Alfred and Mary (Labounty) Bachand.
On Nov. 8, 1943, he married
Thelma Peebles in Clyde, Kan.
Mr. Bachand served in the Navy from 1943 to 1945. Later, he worked at Manchester Fuel Depot, retiring as captain of the fire department after 20 years in 1975. He also worked in the remodeling business on Bainbridge Island during his off hours as a fireman.
He was a member of VFW #2669 and a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Robert L. of Port Orchard; one daughter, Cheryl Reite of Port Orchard; two brothers, Bernard of Oregon and Ronnell of Florida; one sister, Edith Chapul of Kansas; and two grandchildren, Jason Bachand of Bremerton and Shelly Henderson of Lake Stevens.

Edna Boswell
Edna Opal Boswell, 84, of Bremerton died Oct. 18, 1998, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center.
She was born Jan. 14, 1914, in Jonesboro, Ark., to William L. and Frances A. (Hamilton) Dorton. She spent her school years in Marlow, Okla..
She married
Lee Boswell in Springdale, Ark.
Mrs. Boswell was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in Bremerton.
Survivors include her son, Travis of Bremerton; and her brother, Tom Dorton of Bremerton. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 1, 1993.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Oct. 21 and Oct. 22. at Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 23, also at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Private interment will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
