David Autry
David Tice Autry Jr., 72, of Tahuya died Feb. 4, 2000, in Bremerton.
He was born July 2, 1927, in Oakdale, Calif., to David and Dona (Lemons) Autry. He was raised in Oakdale.
He enlisted in the Navy in 1945 and served until 1951. He was a Third Class Boiler Tender.
Mr. Autry was a foreman at Alpine Evergreen for 15 years. He retired as a welder and machinist from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
He was a life member of VFW Post No. 239 in Bremerton and of the National Rifle Association. He also belonged to Masonic Lodge No. 117 in Bremerton and to the Cooties, Heap Good Tent No. 9.
He married
Vicki M. Fox on Oct. 17, 1982, in Beaumont, Texas.
Survivors include his wife; two stepsons, Nick and Phil Ruckman, both of Bremerton; a stepdaughter, Donna Holcomb of Salem, Ore.; two sisters, Faye Rossini and Dorothy Garrison, both of Oakdale, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Mindy McPherson and Jason Ruckman, both of Portland, Ore., Nicky and Teresa Ruckman, both of Bremerton, Aaron, Rebecca, and Heather Ruckman, all of Belfair; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be announced at a later date.
Linda Josephsen
Linda LaRee Josephsen, 52, of Bremerton died Feb. 4, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Nov. 29, 1947, in Dayton to Earl and Gladys (Starbird) Carnaby. She grew up in Bremerton and graduated from Central Kitsap High School in 1967.
She worked for a government agency and also at Kmart, retiring in 1998.
She is survived by a sister, Kathleen Berg of Virginia Beach, Va.; and her companion of 15 years, Terry Hughes.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Visitation also will take place before the funeral service at 1 p.m. Tuesday, also at the funeral chapel.
Burial will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Frieda Valdez
Frieda H. Valdez, 86, of Olalla died Jan. 29, 2000, at Allenmore Hospital in Tacoma.
She was born March 25, 1913, in San Antonio, Texas, to Charles and Pearl (Evans) Hastings. She grew up in San Antonio.
She married
John Valdez on May 10, 1937, in San Antonio. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Survivors include one son, James of Oak Harbor; two daughters, Barbara Nix of Olalla and Joan Alvelais of Monterey Park, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Feb. 4 at Holy Name of Mary Church in San Dimas, Calif. Interment
took place at Oakdale Memorial Park in Glendora, Calif. Arrangements were under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Una Jones
Former Port Orchard resident Una A. Jones died Jan. 25, 2000, in Grass Valley, Calif.
She was born in Smith Center, Kan., in 1909. Her family moved to Boulder, Colo., in 1919, where she completed her education and married
Charles Jones in 1927.
After moving to Port Orchard in 1943, she worked in supply at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984. She is survived by a son, Charles Jones of Selah; a daughter, Jo Ann Peterson of Grass Valley; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard.
Loretta Cote
Loretta E. Cote, 75, of Bremerton died Feb. 3, 2000, in Bremerton of natural causes. She had lived in Bremerton since 1952.
She was born March 11, 1924, in Walhalla, N.D., to John and Anna (Specht) Ermer. She grew up in Walhalla.
She married
Laureus Cote on Aug. 16, 1946, in Thorn, N.D.
Mrs. Cote was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bremerton, participating in various guilds associated with the church.
She was the first secretary at Holy Trinity. She worked there from 1964 until the mid 1970s.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Leo of Bremerton and Larry of Seabeck; one daughter, Lynn Heiser of Seabeck; and six grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, Heather, April, Amber and Haley. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to a funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment
will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
EvLyn Egan
EvLyn Mae Egan, 88, of Bremerton died Feb. 2, 2000, at Harrison Hospital. She had been a resident of Kitsap County for the past 57 years.
She was born Dec. 7, 1911, in Elma, Iowa, to Stephen and Catherine (Biwer) Kinney. She was raised and educated in Elma, graduating from Immaculate Conception High School in 1930.
She married
George Egan in Elma on Aug. 30, 1934. Mr. Egan preceded his wife in death in 1973.
She had been a keypunch supervisor at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1973 after 19 years. She later was a homemaker.
She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton. She participated in the church's altar society.
Survivors include four sons, Owen Sr. of Glendale, Ariz., Kenneth of Fayetteville, Ga., John of Bremerton and Jerome of Buckley; one daughter, Joyce Brand of Olympia; one brother, Stephen Kinney of Hemet, Calif.; one sister, Lorine Osterman; six grandchildren, Owen Jr., Patricia, Michele, Kyle, Jody and Kaye; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A rosary will be said at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, with a funeral liturgy following at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Donald Brewster
Donald Phillip Brewster, 80, of Grapeview died Feb. 1, 2000, at his home.
He was born May 13, 1919, in Lake Placid, N.Y., to Donald Leland and Theresa Adeline (Dubey) Brewster. He attended high school in Lake Placid.
He married
Vivian Birdsall on May 24, 1944, in Fairbanks, Alaska.
He served in the Army Air Corps.
Mr. Brewster was an engineer for more than 20 years with Aerojet General Corp. and with The Boeing Co. in its aerospace division. He retired from The Boeing Co.
Survivors include his wife and one son, Donald.
No services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel and Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo.

Mary Weaver
Mary Helen Weaver, 93, of Bremerton died Feb. 2, 2000, in Bremerton of natural causes.
She was born Jan. 17, 1907, in Curtis, Okla., to Frank and Alice (Cooke) Clift. She grew up in Curtis.
She married
John Weaver on June 22, 1927, in Sharon, Okla. He preceded her in death in 1957.
Mrs. Weaver was a homemaker. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Ferguson of Bremerton; two grandchildren, Bill Ferguson of Everett and Mark Ferguson of Tumwater; and four great-grandchildren.
A private family service is planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Jewel Lopez
Jewel Dean Lopez, 63, of Tahuya died Feb. 2, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born April 20, 1936, in Atoka, Okla., to Jake and Eunice Strickland.
She married
Nick Lopez on July 12, 1952. He preceded her in death.
She worked at Lockheed Martin, retiring after 25 years of service as department head of the security department.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Perry of Tahuya and Treva Jones of Paso Robles, Calif.; four grandchildren, Eric Lopez of Santa Clara, Calif., Jessica Perry of Bremerton, Jennifer Crowley of Port Orchard and Jenel Jones of Round Rock, Texas; and one great-grandson.

Russell Owens
Former Bremerton resident Russell G. Owens, 89, of Santee, Calif., died Dec. 25, 1999, in Santee.
He was born in Peshastin. He graduated from Wenatchee High School, attending both Washington State College (now Washington State University) and the University of Washington.
He married
Mildred "Pat" Reid in Wenatchee in 1938. They moved to Bremerton in 1940, where Mr. Owens worked in personnel at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
Mr. Owens was a tenor soloist, having been a member of a barbershop quartet in Bremerton, the Bremertones. He also was a lifelong member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and a member of Rolling Hills Golf Club in Bremerton. He had served as association president of Kitsap Pee Wees.
Survivors include one son, Pete of Phoenix; two daughters, Carol Wagner of Santee and Pamela Owens of Portland, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Dec. 30 in San Diego. Arrangements were under the direction of Pacific Beach Mortuary in San Diego.
Della Silberman
Della La Vaun Silberman, 81, of Bremerton died Jan. 31, 2000, in Bremerton.
She was born Dec. 10, 1918, in Spanish Fork, Utah, to Arthur Lorenzo and Della Mary (Marsh) Olson. She graduated from high school in Spanish Fork.
She married
John Silberman on March 14, 1941, in Springville, Utah. Her husband preceded her in death in 1995.
Mrs. Silberman was a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons, Douglas of Port Orchard, Gary of Poulsbo and Raymond of Bremerton; one brother, Raymond Olson of Bremerton; two sisters, Cloeen LaFazia of Bremerton and Iona Sund of Maple Valley; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Frontier Building) in Silverdale. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton.

Mabel Christiansen
Mabel Christine Christiansen, 95, of Bremerton died Feb. 1, 2000, in Bremerton.
She was born April 1, 1904, in Santiago, Minn., to Tolisious and Bodel Christine (Abrahamson) Knutson. She attended high school in Santiago.
She married
Albert Christiansen on June 16, 1924. He preceded her in death.
She was employed at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a crane operator, messenger and post office worker, retiring after 20 years.
She was a Gold Star Mother. She was a member of The Eagles, Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion, Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Bremerton and several bingo clubs.
Survivors include one son, Raymond of Port Orchard; one daughter, Mariane Ball of Bremerton; nine grandchildren, Gary of Harper, David of Tahuya, Lynn Kolstad of Huntington Beach, Calif., Patricia Abad of Tracyton, James Ball of Port Hadlock, John Ball of Woodbine, Ga., and Christine Gill, Karen Dyer and Gregory, all of Bremerton; 21 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a son, Myron, in 1951.
Visitation is scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday also at Lewis Funeral Chapel, with a reception following. Burial will take place at Ivy Green cemetery in Bremerton.
