Minnie Hoglund Prichard
Minnie Hoglund Prichard, 87, of Manchester died Nov. 14, 2001, in Edmonds after a brief illness.
She was born July 1, 1914, in Ballard to Mickel "Mike" and Anna Sofia (Mickelsdotter) Hoglund. She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1931.
She married Jean L. Prichard in April 1982 in Port Townsend.
Mrs. Prichard worked as a nanny for 12 years with several Seattle families. She was also a homemaker, an accomplished gardener and a member of the Swedish Finn Historical Society.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Carl Holmberg of Langley and John Holmberg of Bremerton; two daughters, Marilyn Holmberg of Seattle and Ann Beam of Sequim; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Elsie Corliss, Esther Cunningham and Mary Salmonson; and by her brother, Hugo Hoglund.
Services will be private at the Knights of Pythias cemetery in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Beck's Funeral Home in Edmonds.

Jerald Young
Jerald Gene Young, 72, of Poulsbo died Nov. 15, 2001, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle from injuries in a car accident.
He was born June 10, 1929, in Mecklin, S.D., to John and Myrtle (Myron) Young. He attended Mecklin High School.
Mr. Young served in the Army Air Corps in the early 1950s.
He married Elsie Mae Millard on March 19, 1965, in Las Vegas. She continues to reside in Poulsbo.
He worked as a carpenter for 40 years, retiring in 1990.
He enjoyed farming and his family.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Glyn Correll of Bremerton; one daughter, Teri Price of Olalla; three brothers, Tom of Springfield, Ore., Darrell of Prescott Valley, Ariz., and Doug of Poulsbo; one sister, Barbara Brown of Salem, Ore.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove with a reception to follow.

David Collins
David S. Collins, 55, of Port Orchard died of acute pulmonary disease Nov. 5, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Feb. 1, 1946, to Paul and Mary (Belander) Collins. He graduated in 1965 from Bremerton's East High School and attended Olympic College.
Mr. Collins served in the Army, achieving the rank of sergeant. He later was a corrections officer for more than 20 years, retiring in 1995.
Mr. Collins enjoyed cooking. He was a Catholic and was a life member of AMVETS Post 1 in Tacoma.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Mary and Frank Jennings of Tacoma; four sons, David of Port Orchard, Richard of Huachuca, Ariz., Michael of Bremerton and Paul of Gorst; two daughters, Kimberly DeLapp and Kathrena Newman, both of Bremerton; two brothers, Donald of Tacoma and James of Shelton; a sister, Mary Carlson of Tacoma; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.
Inurnment and a graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to American Lung Association of Washington, 2625 Third Ave., Seattle, WA 98121.

Janine Botkin
Janine Botkin, 49, of Bremerton died Nov. 7, 2001, in Silverdale.
She was born March 29, 1952, in Eugene, Ore., to Irv and Elayne Botkin. She graduated from high school in Medford, Ore.
Janine was a Master Gardener and grew prize-winning vegetables and flowers. She often volunteered to help neighbors in need of assistance with yard work. She was a member of American Legion Post Auxiliary 149. She enjoyed her cats, carpentry and playing darts and pool.
Survivors include her companion of 16 years, Gordon Hay of Bremerton; her mother, Elayne Botkin-Mead of California; her father, Irv Botkin, of California; two sisters, Christy Reeves of Burbank, Calif., and Barbara Tosh of Paso Robles, Calif.; and a brother, Todd Botkin of Sun Valley, Calif.
Inurnment took place in Southern California. Local arrangements are under the direction of Kitsap Cremation and Burial Society.

Patsy Bender
Patsy Evelyn Bender, 54, of Port Orchard died because of complications following surgery Nov. 3, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born March 12, 1947, in Fresno, Calif., to Benjamin and Lizz (Nixion) Bush.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed puzzles, movies and music.
She was a Protestant.
Survivors include a son, Charles Lewis of Port Orchard; three daughters, Susie Lynn Bender, April Ann Cross and Shirley Elizabeth Bender, all of Port Orchard; two brothers, Jessie Bush and Cecil Bush, both of Fresno; two sisters, Mary Huffman of Gorst and Shirley Tyner of the Tri-Cities; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Bush.
Services were Nov. 5 at Tuell-McKee Funeral Home.

Violet Carlson
Violet E. Carlson, 75, of Bremerton died of a stroke Nov. 14, 2001, at Tacoma General Hospital.
She was born Dec. 7, 1925, in Sedan, Kan., to Cass and Amy (Gruben) Tannahill. She graduated in 1943 from Arkansas City High School in Kansas.
She married Robert A. Carlson on June 26, 1946, in Bremerton. He preceded her in death in 1989.
She was a homemaker and was active in the Manette Community Church. She was a volunteer with YMCA Selective Swim Program, East Bremerton Friends of the Library and Harrison Hospital Foundation Festival of Trees. She also was featured in The Sun as an Unsung Hero.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Carlson of Bremerton and Donna Overly of Kirkland; a sister, Joan Snyder of Pawnee City, Neb.; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Naomi Clifford.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A 2 p.m. funeral service will be followed by a reception. Private inurnment will be at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A gathering for friends and family will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Manette Community Church.

Lois Heyer
Lois Mildred Heyer, 71, of Bremerton died Nov. 15, 2001, at home.
She was born Sept. 5, 1930, in Ballard to Albert and Mildred (Erickson) Hanberg. She graduated in 1948 from Bremerton High School.
She married Williard L. Heyer in the Army Chapel in Manchester. Prior to moving to Bremerton they lived more than 30 years in Burley.
She worked for Selden's Flooring in Tacoma and later owned the Burley Store in Burley from 1962 to 1967 with her family.
She enjoyed gardening, reading and was a member of Superintendents Wives Club.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Charles of Bremerton; a daughter, Lynn Strine of Bremerton; a brother, David Hanberg of Lacey; a granddaughter, Carly Strine; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Hanberg.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. Private interment will be at Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor.
Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Michelle Amarino-Beeson
Former Port Orchard resident Michelle D. Amarino-Beeson, 31, of Lynnwood died Nov. 14, 2001, in Lynnwood.
She was born June 5, 1970, in Seoul, Korea, to Ernest and Emily (Ivany) Amarino. She was a 1988 graduate of South Kitsap High School.
She was a retail manager for 12 years.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Peter Beeson II; and her father of Port Orchard. She was preceded in death by her mother in 1994.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Monday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A graveside service will follow at noon at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Ruth Murrell
Ruth L. Murrell, 91, of Silverdale died of heart failure Nov. 13, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born May 19, 1910, in Texas to James and Clara (Love) Rister.
She married James Murrell in 1931 in Trinidad, Colo.
Mrs. Murrell was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Federal Way.
Survivors include her husband; her son, James of Merced, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Warren.
Visitation will be from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Monday at Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor. Entombment will be at Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor.

Dorothy Gray
Dorothy Irene Gray, 77, of Port Orchard died of complications from cancer and diabetes Nov. 14, 2001, in Port Orchard.
She was born June 27, 1924, in Seattle to H.L. and Laura Peterson. She graduated in 1942 from Wallace High School in Wallace, Idaho.
She married Robert Edward Gray on Dec. 31, 1946, at The Presidio in San Francisco. He preceded her in death in 1974.
Mrs. Gray served in the Women's Army Corps from 1944 to 1946, achieving the rank of corporal.
She was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and genealogy.
Mrs. Gray volunteered with the American Cancer Society's Discovery Shop in Bremerton. She was a member of American Legion Post 149 in Bremerton, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Eagles 2338 in Port Orchard.
Survivors include a son, Robert of Port Orchard; a daughter, Vicki of Bremerton; a brother, Howard L. Peterson of Bothell; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
At her request, no service is planned. Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton.
Memorial donations may be made to South Kitsap Helpline, 1351 Bay St., Port Orchard, WA 98366.

Sony Ang
Corazon "Sony" Ang, 51, of Silverdale died of a heart attack Nov. 12, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Oct. 17, 1950, in Manila, Philippines, to Domingo and Carina (Dayandante) Sanglay. She graduated from high school and college in the Philippines.
At the time of her death, she worked at the Navy Exchange on the Naval Submarine Base Bangor.
She enjoyed gardening, interior decorating and art. She was active in the San Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila Guild at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include her husband, Jaime of Silverdale; her father of Manila; and two daughters, Katherine and Jocelyn, both of Silverdale. She was preceded in death by her mother.
The following services will be at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church: rosary at 7 p.m. Tuesday, visitation and a vigil from 7 p.m. Tuesday until 7 a.m. Wednesday and a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment icon will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
