Sandra O'Neil
Sandra Kay O'Neil, 59, of Bremerton died Nov. 1, 2001, at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.
She was born Nov. 12, 1941, in Sumner to Edgar and Elma (Dory) Morrison. She graduated from East Bremerton High School in 1960.
She married Dennis O'Neil on March 19, 1966, in Bremerton. He preceded her in death in 1997.
Mrs. O'Neil was a secretary/treasurer of the Olympic Peninsula Treasures Club and a member of the League of Wednesday Noon Trio Bowling.
Survivors include her mother in Bremerton; daughter Lori Arthur of Tahuya; brother Irwin Morrison of Las Vegas; and one grandchild. Her brother Marvin Morrison preceded her in death in 1977.
Visitation will be at noon Tuesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel followed by a 1 p.m. service. She will be interred at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Thomas Blanford
Thomas A. Blanford, 80, of Bremerton died Oct. 30, 2001, at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Oct. 15, 1921, in Steamboat Springs, Colo. to George and Myrtle (Cattleman) Blanford.
He served as a private in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1944 to 1946, and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal.
He later worked as a machinist for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 30 years before retiring in 1975.
Mr. Blanford married Marie Russell on April 30, 1946, in Indianapolis.
His interests included puzzles and outside machinist hobbies.
Survivors include his wife; two sons Larry of Gig Harbor and Don of Tacoma; two daughters Linda Little of North Carolina and Mary Lynch of Bremerton; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. He will be inurned at Forest Lawn cemetery.

A. A. Gronberg
Former Port Orchard resident A. A. Gronberg, 91, of Seattle, died Oct. 30, 2001, at Providence Mount St. Vincent Care Center in Seattle.
He was born April 24, 1910, in Sandstone, Minn., to Carl and Anna (Moberg) Gronberg. He acquired an extensive education.
He married Esther Peterson Sept. 28, 1934, in Minneapolis, Minn. She died in 1974.
He was a former pastor of Elim Lutheran Church in Port Orchard, director of Lutheran Compass Center of Seattle and was actively involved with the Millionaire's Club charity in Seattle.
He was a member of the Seattle Lions Club.
Survivors include a son, Karl Gronberg and wife, Sharon of Austin, Texas; a son-in-law Albert Drackert of Seattle; a sister, Aurora Vassberg of Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada; and seven grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Marie Drackert.
Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 3 p.m. today at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A graveside service will begin at 3 p.m.

Catherine Goughnour
Catherine Faye Goughnour, 60, of Bremerton died of cancer Oct. 26, 2001, in Bremerton.
She was born Feb. 23, 1941, in Tacoma to Lloyd Darwin and Roberta Jo (Huff) Smith. She graduated from Sumner High School.
She worked in customer relations for Boeing for 36 years. After retirement, she was involved with a Bible study group and volunteered her time at Group Health Home Hospice. She also enjoyed her friends and her cats.
She was a Presbyterian.
Survivors include a son, Roderick Stephen MacDonald of Snohomish; a daughter, Jeri Lee Wallace of Bremerton; a brother, Joseph Allen Smith and wife Deborah of Cordova, Alaska; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her stepfather, James Wade; her first husband, Dan R. MacDonald; and second husband, Jimmy R. Goughnour.
A graveside service is planned for 1 p.m. today at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Portland. Arrangements are under the direction of Finley's Sunset Hills Mortuary.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Progressive Animal Welfare Society.

Linda Poppe
Linda S. Poppe, 47, died Oct. 28, 2001, at her Silverdale home.
She was born on June 2, 1954, in Olympia to Paul and Connie (Conway) Campbell. She graduated from Olympia High School in 1972 and attended Good Samaritian School of Nursing in Portland, Ore. She received her bachelor's in nursing from Oregon State University in 1982.
She married John R. Poppe on Nov. 11, 1978, in Olympia.
She worked for over 20 years in nursing, as a home health nurse and school nurse.
She enjoyed gardening, boating, and camping with her family.
She was a Catholic.
Survivors include her husband; her parents of Olympia; a son, Ryan Christopher Poppe; a daughter, Kaitlin Jean Poppe; two brothers, Dan Campbell of Olympia, and Tim Campbell of Sumner; two sisters, Jenene Fenton of Olympia and Sharon Trageser of Bainbridge Island.
A Mass was celebrated Friday at St. Olaf's Catholic Church in Poulsbo. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Robert Carson D.D.S.
Robert E. Carson, 68, of Kent died Oct. 31, 2001, at home.
He was born Dec. 19, 1932, in Rock Springs, Wyo., to Dwight and Edna (Olson) Carson. He was a 1950 graduate of Bremerton High School. He attended the University of Washington and University of Washington Dental School, graduating in 1958.
He served in the Army from 1959 to 1961 as a captain.
He married Salana Joy Frankman on April 4, 1961, in Salt Lake City. She continues to reside in Kent.
He was a dentist in Auburn for 42 years. He retired in October.
He was an accomplished accordion player and enjoyed jewelry making and wood carving.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Auburn.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Caryn and husband Vaughn Teuscher of Vancouver, Wash., Kristina and husband Derek Palmer of Redmond, Ore., Celinda and husband Melvin Johnson of Sea-Tac and Michelle and husband Michael Siefkes also of Sea-Tac; two sons, Michael of Redmond and Marc of Provo, Utah; a sister Marva and husband Bruce Connelly of Bremerton; and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert E. Carson Jr.
Visitation is planned at noon on Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Stake Center, 1825 F Street SE, in Auburn. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Interment icon will take place at Tahoma National cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Price-Helton in Auburn.

Quentin Whybark
Quentin H. Whybark, 83, of Bremerton died Nov. 2, 2001, of cancer at his home.
He was born Aug. 5, 1918, in Juliaetta, Idaho, to Daniel W. and Ida Bell (Helm) Whybark. He graduated from Gifford High School in Gifford, Idaho in 1941, from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, in 1950 and from Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif., in 1956.
He married Catherine Armstrong on July 14, 1951, in Lewiston, Idaho. She preceded him in death in 1990.
Mr. Whybark served in the Army from 1941 to 1953, continuing in the Army Reserves until 1962. He achieved the rank of major, serving in both World War II and the Korean War.
He worked later as an instructor at Olympic College for 29 years, retiring in 1986. He taught political science and economics.
Mr. Whybark enjoyed genealogy.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas and Steven Whybark; one daughter, Ann Whybark; one sister, Elsie LeShures of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Canada; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Nevlin, Arlie, Freland and William Whybark, and Dotalene Gaskill.
Visitation is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A funeral service follows at 1 p.m. also at Miller-Woodlawn.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Kitsap County.

Judy Hobart
Judy Merlyn Hobart, 58, of Grapeview died Oct. 26, 2001, in Shelton.
She was born Dec. 21, 1942, in Loma Linda, Calif.
She married Morris J. Hobart on Feb. 28, 1967, in Bremerton. He continues to reside in Grapeview.
She was a homemaker and also worked as a certified nurse assistant.
She enjoyed bingo and camping.
She was a Pentecostal Christian.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Raymond and Morris, both of Grapeview, Bruce of Union and Arthur of Bremerton; a daughter, Lynnette of Eugene, Ore.; two brothers, Everett Kinslow of Silverdale and Danny Kinslow of California; three sisters, Donna of Bremerton, Darlene of Louisiana and Laurie of Missouri; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned at 7 p.m. Thursday at Belfair Assembly of God Church.
Memorial donations may be made to Belfair Assembly of God.

Lena Cummings
Lena Cummings, 85, of Bremerton died Oct. 30, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born April 17, 1916, in Dunseith, N.D., to Tobias and Yvonne (Robert) Dailly.
She married Vernon Baxstrom on Sept. 19, 1936, in North Dakota. He preceded her in death in 1979.
She married Henry Cummings on Dec. 11, 1993, in Bremerton.
She worked in ladies ready-to-wear clothing for more than20 years, managing the Anita Shop in Bremerton and in Yakima. She retired in the early 1970s.
She enjoyed her friends and gardening. She was a member of Westpark Christian Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Curtis Baxstrom of Sequim and Eugene Baxstrom of Olympia; one brother, Ernest Dailly of Bremerton; two sisters, Flora Ohlsen of Grand Forks, N.D., and Beatrice Johnson of Bottineau, N.D.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Benice, and a sister, Irene Bissonette.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Nov. 9 at Westpark Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to Westpark Christian Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Thomas Blandford, 80, of Bremerton died Oct. 30, 2001, at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
