Bill/Chuck Roberts
William Charles "Bill/ Chuck" Roberts, 40, of Bremerton died Oct. 30, 2001, at Harrison Hospital after a six-year battle with colon cancer.
He was born Dec. 4, 1960, in Spokane to William and Dorothy (Beck) Claflin. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Daniel Roberts of Port Orchard. He graduated from Central Kitsap High School in 1979.
He married
Jeanine Mannin on May 5, 1995, in Reno, Nev.
Mr. Roberts worked as a truck driver in Kitsap County for 20 years, employed by Vitro and Brem-Air Disposal. He retired in 1998 due to illness.
Mr. Roberts enjoyed golf, dirt bike riding, carpentry and many outdoor activities.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Darrel of Poulsbo; one stepdaughter, Mandy Latham of Bremerton; his mother and stepfather; his father; five brothers, John Claflin of Ohio, Larry Claflin of Gig Harbor, Michael Roberts of Walla Walla and Daniel and Andrew Roberts, both of Port Orchard; three sisters, Kristine Sturgis of Kansas, Lori Sadler of Idaho and Melissa Sipe of Roy; and 16 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Beatrice Ludwick
Beatrice Jeane Ludwick, 77, died Oct. 25, 2001, at her Bremerton residence.
She was born June 29, 1924, in Hutchison, Kansas, to Lewie and Pearl (Francis) Curtright.
She married
Gene Ludwick on Aug. 27, 1959, in Bremerton. He resides in Bremerton.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed various hobbies including crocheting and macrame.
She was a Lutheran.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Jeff Ludwick of Bremerton; two daughters, Nikki Hooks of Bartow, Fla., and Sherry Stephans of Bull Head City, Ariz.; a brother, Ross Curtright of Los Angeles; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Les/Cracker Cote
Leslie "Les" "Cracker" H. Cote, 63, of Port Orchard died Oct. 27, 2001, at Ridgemont Terrace in Port Orchard.
He was born Jan. 31, 1938, in Huntington, Ore., to George and Luella (Wagar) Cote.
He served in the Air Force from 1960 to 1965 as an airman first class. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Cote was a sheet metal worker at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 32 years, retiring in 1993.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW and enjoyed golfing.
He is survived by long-time companion, Harry White of Port Orchard; a brother, Wes Cote of Port Orchard; and a sister, Peggy Gray of Silverdale. He was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Cote in 1956.

Eva Rensch
Eva Lois Rensch, 89, of Bremerton died Oct. 29, 2001, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born July 30, 1912, in Brinnon, to George and Annie (Holmberg) Broderson. She attended high school in Shelton.
She was a waitress and cook at the the Hiway Cafe in Bremerton.
She was a Catholic.
She is survived by a daughter, Lois Cortez of Gilroy, Calif.; one grandchild; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest G. Rensch; and two brothers, Louie and Ernest Broderson.
At the family's request, no service is planned.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Kathryn Hackman
Kathryn M. Hackman, 91, died Oct. 25, 2001, at her Bremerton residence.
She was born Aug. 19, 1910, in Dilworth, Minn., to Olaf and Katherine (Adams) Nelson. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Casselton, N.D., and St. John's Nursing College in Fargo, N.D., in 1932.
She married
Roger Hackman on June 21, 1940, in Las Vegas, Nev. He preceded her in death in 1965.
She was a registered nurse for 26 years, retiring in 1972.
She enjoyed traveling and gardening.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in East Bremerton.
She is survived by two brothers, Stewart Becker of Port Orchard and Wallace Becker, of Chula Vista, Calif. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Larson.
Private inurnment will take place in South San Gabriel, Calif. Local arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.

Ina Mae Bailey
Ina Mae Bailey, 75, of Poulsbo died Oct. 28, 2001, in Poulsbo.
She was born July 1, 1926, in Butte, Mont., to David and Anne (Goosen) Funk. She was a 1944 graduate of Butte High School.
She married
Delbert Bailey on March 1, 1947, in Seattle. He died in 1999.
She worked in a small print shop for 12 years, retiring in 1991.
She enjoyed cooking and was an excellent cook.
Survivors include two sons, Wesley Bailey of Bremerton and Warren Bailey of Seattle; a brother, Bob Funk of Seattle; four sisters, Rosella Shattenberg of Poulsbo, Isabelle Martin of Seattle, Betty Woodcock of Edmonds and Merice Enoch of Arkansas; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home, followed by the funeral at 4 p.m. Arrangements are under
the direction of Miller-Woodlawn.
Alice Johnson
Alice Lorraine Johnson, 77, of Silverdale, died of respiratory failure Oct. 17, 2001, while visiting Templeton, Calif.
She was born June 21, 1924, in Raton, N.M., to David and Emma Pacheco.
She married
Edward Johnson on Oct. 25, 1951. He preceded her in death in 1995.
She was an adult care provider.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a son, David Stacy of Issaquah; two daughters, Marie Laverne Staffiero, of San Diego, Calif., and Pam Flewell of Bremerton; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church in Bremerton. Inurnment will take place at San Juaquin Valley National cemetery in Gustine, Calif. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Roses in Atascadero, Calif.

Kenneth Webster
Kenneth Webster, 71, of Poulsbo died Oct. 30, 2001, at Martha and Mary Health Center.
He was born Nov. 17, 1929, in Kalispel, Mont., to Franklin and Isabelle (Ritzman) Webster. He graduated from Silverdale High School in 1948 and attended Olympic College.
He served in the Navy as an airman from 1948 to 1952.
He married
Barbara Swan on March 1, 1957, in Port Orchard. She continues to reside in Poulsbo.
He was a Washington State Patrolman for 25 years, retiring in 1982.
He enjoyed boating and was a member of Sons of Norway.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Craig Webster of Poulsbo; a daughter, Sandi Walsh of Poulsbo; a sister, Phyllis Walster of Grapeview; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Webster.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at First Lutheran Church of Poulsbo.

Betty Jean Campana
Betty Jean Campana, 74, of Bremerton died of cancer Oct. 27, 2001, at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.
She was born Jan. 20, 1927, in Walla Walla to Roy and Hazel (Bumcrot) Smith. She was a 1944 graduate of Walla Walla High School and attended Olympic College.
She married
Hugh Louis Campana on Aug. 6, 1945, in Walla Walla. He preceded her in death in 1987.
She was the owner of Campana's Italian Restaurant for 25 years before turning the operation over to her son. She retired in 1995.
She was active in Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and was past director of the C.Y.O. program. She enjoyed golf and was a member of Kitsap Golf and Country Club.
Survivors include three sons, Ken of Siverdale, Chris of Poulsbo and David of Bremerton; three daughters, Patricia Kajlich of Edmonds, Sheila Lyndes of Port Angeles and Carla Campana of Chico; a brother, Rolland Smith of Milton; and 10 grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Smith; three sisters, Hazel Wise, Peggy Hooper and Mary Izzo; and an infant daughter, Debra Denise.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 11 at Campana's Italian Restaurant in Poulsbo.

Edgar Rustad
Edgar B. Rustad, 101, of Bremerton died Oct. 26, 2001, at Bay Pointe Retirement Community in Bremerton.
He was born Sept. 3, 1900, in Ediz Hook Port Angeles to Axel and Karen (Bodom) Rustad. He graduated in 1922 from Port Townsend High School.
He served in the Army in 1922.
He married
Inga (Johnson) Cristianson on Nov. 6, 1975, in Poulsbo. She preceded him in death earlier this year.
He worked for Puget Power in Keyport for 24 years, retiring in 1950.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a Mason and member of Sons of Norway.
He was a Lutheran.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie J. Olson; two stepdaughters, Irene Fulmer and Jean Bailey; a brother, Tom B.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by an infant son.
Visitation will be at noon Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m.
