Maggie Capps
Former Bremerton resident Maggie Capps, 64, of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, died Oct. 21, 2001, in Cabo San Lucas.
She was born Jan. 10, 1937, in London to Patrick and JoAnna Bryan.
She married
Dick Capps on May 26, 1964, in Lewshium, England.
Mrs. Capps had worked as a real estate agent in Kitsap County for 16 years, retiring in 1998.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Lee of Bremerton; one brother, Paddy Bryan of London; two sisters, Maureen Burman of Glasgow, Scotland, and Eileen Duncan of Slagio, Ireland; and one grandchild. She was preceded in death by brothers, Terry, Tommy and Joey Bryan.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Monday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Agnes Haakonson
Agnes E. Haakonson, 99, of Bremerton died Oct. 22, 2001, of natural causes at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center in Bremerton.
She was born Jan. 5, 1902, in Kennedy, Minn., to Theodore and Tilda (Sunderland) Hegland. She graduated from White Earth High School in White Earth, N.D., in 1920 and from Minot State Teachers College in Minot, N.D.
She married
Helge Haakonson on Jan. 29, 1946, in Sandpoint, Idaho. He preceded her in death in 1984.
Mrs. Haakonson taught in one-room schools for several years and worked in federal civil service for seven years.
She was a member of Vinland Lutheran Church in Poulsbo.
She is survived by one brother, Albert Hegland of Bremerton. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo. Interment
will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bremerton with arrangements under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Betty LaPorte
Betty A. LaPorte, 70, of Port Orchard died Oct. 22, 2001, at her home.
She was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Roseau, Minn., to Ernest and Ida (Lohre) Johnson. She graduated in 1950 from South Kitsap High School.
She married
Doug LaPorte on June 30, 1978, in Port Orchard.
Mrs. LaPorte was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, RV camping and her dog, Max.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Steven and Stanley LeFave, both of Port Orchard, and Larry LeFave of Anacortes; one sister, Darlene Knutson of Anacortes; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service today at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. An open house will follow the service at the family home. Interment
will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
Wilbur Rasmussen
Wilbur Rasmussen, 89, of Bremerton died of natural causes Oct. 22, 2001, in Bremerton.
He was born Aug. 19, 1912, in Clallam Bay to Marius and Edith (Sund) Rasmussen. He is a 1930 graduate of Broadway High School in Seattle.
He married
Marguerite Clark on Sept. 28, 1941, in Neah Bay.
Mr. Rasmussen was a member of a rock club and the Eagles.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Richard of Bremerton; three daughters, Marilyn Cook of Forks and Janet Scott and Sandra Harvey, both of Bremerton; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service is planned at Forest Lawn cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Edwin Sirovy
Edwin George Sirovy, 87, of Poulsbo died Oct. 22, 2001, in Poulsbo.
He was born Jan. 30, 1914, in Jackson, Minn., to Henry and Julia Sirovy. He graduated from Windom High School in Windom, Minn.
He married
his wife, Esther, in 1937 in Windom. She preceded him in death in 2000.
He was an electrician at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 35 years, retiring in 1971.
He was a pitcher for the semi-pro baseball team, Bremerton Blue Jackets. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He had been a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Bremerton since 1943.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Arden Prather
Arden Prather, 92, of Port Orchard died Oct. 20, 2001, in Port Orchard.
He was born April 11, 1909, in Bow, Skagit County, to Ralph and Frances (Krantz) Prather.
He married
Lois Tucker on Aug. 6, 1930, in Yakima. She preceded him in death this year.
He was an electrician at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1979.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an elder at the Church of Christ in Port Orchard.
He is survived by a son, David of Lubbock, Texas; a daughter, Suzanne Byars of Lubbock; a brother, Ray of Burlington; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a son, Cliff in 1991; and a sister, Laura Carpenter.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Church of Christ of Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Patricia Delmar Ferguson Mensinger Way
Patricia Delmar Ferguson Mensinger Way, 70, of Spokane died of cancer Oct. 22, 2001, at her home.
She was born May 24, 1931, in Bismarck, N.D., to Donald and Effie (Olsen) Ferguson. She graduated in 1949 from South Kitsap High School and attended Central Washington University. She graduated in 1989 from the Washington State University.
She married
Joseph Mensinger in November 1950. He preceded her in death.
She married
her second husband, Joe Way, in 2000.
She worked at Lewis Alumni Centre at Washington State University for more than 10 years, retiring in 1996.
She enjoyed serving the community, quilting and whitewater rafting.
She was a Methodist.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Michael Mensinger of Mound, Minn.; four daughters, Karen Mensinger of Grapeview, Michelle Huff of Bellingham, Lauri McLaughlin of Spokane and Debbie Mensinger of Kennewick; a brother, Lee Ferguson of Carlsbad, Calif.; two sisters, Barbara Nundahl of Columbia Heights, Minn., and Arlene Nash of Kennewick; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Spokane Valley United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Hennessey Smith Funeral Home in Spokane.

Fredrick Reed
Fredrick E. Reed, 73, of Bremerton died Oct. 20, 2001, at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Feb. 12, 1928, in Lima, Ohio, to Melvin and Lovie (McGinnis) Reed.
He served in the Navy from 1946 to 1947.
He married
Altha Murner on Jan. 5, 1949, at the Bremerton Naval Chapel.
He was a machinist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 33 years, retiring in 1983.
Mr. Reed enjoyed fishing and camping.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ron, Rick and David, all of Bremerton; two brothers, William and Carl, both of Lima; three sisters, Juanita Stemen of Lima, Betty Pohlabel of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., and Shirley Jett of La Belle, Fla.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Danny L.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Suzanne Cudney-Milbourn
Suzanne Mary Cudney-Milbourn, 74, of Kingston died of cancer Oct. 18, 2001, at home with her family.
She was born Sept. 11, 1927, in St. Paul, Minn., to Francis and Arline (Tretbar) Larkin. She graduated from Washougal High School in Clark County and from the University of Washington.
She worked for the Washougal newspaper in her youth. She later was a dietician for 25 years.
She was a member of Silver Sneakers Health Club and the Kingston Welcome Center. She was a member of Faith Episcopal Church in Kingston.
She is survived by her son, Jim Cudney of Edmonds; a daughter, Ann Liberty of Redmond, Ore.; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Milbourn in 1986; and three grandchildren, Tanner Cudney, Andrew Harse and Misti Wertz.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Faith Episcopal Church V.F.W. Hall, 26096 West First St., in Kingston.

Julia Morse
Julia E. Morse, 70, of Bremerton died Oct. 19, 2001, of cancer in Bremerton.
She was born Aug. 18, 1931, in Coos Bay, Ore., to Jim and Bessie (Thomas) Keady. She graduated from Phineas Banning High School in Los Angeles in 1950.
In 1977, she married
Daniel Morse in Tacoma.
Mrs. Morse was a homemaker. She was an executive secretary for more than 10 years with Washington Natural Gas Company in Tacoma and Seattle.
She enjoyed bowling and knitting.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Dan Morse Jr. of Pierce County; and one daughter, Annette Burr of Castle Rock, Colo.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Tracyton United Methodist Church, 440 NE Cottonwood Drive in Tracyton. A gathering will follow the service at the family home north of Wal-Mart in Golden's Motorhome Park, Space Q, 8760 State Highway 303 NE.
Dorothy Nelson
Dorothy C. Nelson, 91, of Albuquerque, N.M., died Oct. 6, 2001, in Albuquerque.
She was born June 17, 1910, in Madras, Ore., to William and Edith Moore. She graduated from Madras High School in 1927 and Olympic College in 1963.
She married
Lief Nelson on June 20, 1935, in Port Orchard. He preceded her in death in 1982.
She was a homemaker and member of the P.T.A., Y.W.C.A and Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Adams of Hayard, Calif., and Nancy Kanthack of Albuquerque; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Aurel Links; and two brothers, Cecil and Vern Moore.
A memorial service was held in Albuquerque Oct. 13. Inurnment will take place in Madras.
