Julie Charron
Julie Anne Charron, 39, of Poulsbo died Oct. 12, 1998, of skin cancer.
She was born March 10, 1959, in Seattle to Bob and Judy (Adolphson) Cox. She was raised in Kingston, graduating from North Kitsap High School in 1977.
On Oct. 2, 1982, she married
Michael Dennis Charron at Saint Olaf's Church in Poulsbo.
Mrs. Charron made her living as a loan processor with Washington Mutual for the past 10 years. During that time she also worked with Ron Turner Mortgage and Norwest Mortgage.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Zachary of the family home; a daughter, Amanda of the family home; and a sister, Merrily Cox of Edmonds.
A funeral service will be at noon Oct. 17 at Saint Olaf's Catholic Church in Poulsbo.

Herbert Moreland
Herbert Lee Moreland, 81, of Bremerton died Oct. 1, 1998, at his home.
He was born Sept. 2, 1917, in Monmouth, Ore., to John and Ethel (Myers) Moreland. He was raised and educated in Monmouth, Ore.
On July 19, 1947, he married
Edith Johnson in Shelton.
Mr. Moreland served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946. He later worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 25 years until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife; and a son, Larry of Bellevue.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 15 at Lewis Funeral Chapel with entombment immediately following at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Gladys Mansier
Gladys Marie Mansier, 80, of Bremerton died Oct. 11, 1998, at Harrison Memorial Hospital, of lymphoma cancer.
She was born Nov. 13, 1917, in Fremont, Neb., to John and Anna (Heizenbuttel) Harshburger. She was raised in Fremont.
On Aug. 13, 1941, she married
James R. Mansier in Omaha, Neb. He preceded her in death in 1958.
Mrs. Mansier made her living for 25 years as a nurse at Harrison Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1984.
She belonged to the Retired Nurses Association in Bremerton.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Seamans of Bremerton and Paulette Colebank of Port Orchard; three grandchildren, Darci Shapley of Bremerton, Karla Carter of Virginia Beach, Va., and Clifford Olszewski of Greenville, N.C.; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 16 at Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Ernest Tinnell
Ernest Benton Tinnell, 71, of Silverdale died Oct. 10, 1998, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 8, 1927, in Wellpinit to Ernest and Mary (LeBret) Tinnell. He graduated from Wellpinit High School in 1945.
Mr. Tinnell served in the Marine Corps from 1945 to 1951, receiving the Korean Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He later made his living as a stocker in the grocery industry, retiring from the Safeway Corporation of Spokane in 1968.
Survivors include his mother; two sons, Kenny and Charles Tinnell, both of Spokane; three daughters, Sandra Rice of Shelton, Sharon Howe of Longview and Darlene Caldwell of Silverdale; a brother, Jimmy Tinnell of Yakima; a sister, Betty Bruce of Spokane; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Robert.
Services will be announced at a later date.

Robert Griffith
Robert L. Griffith, 79, of Manchester died Oct. 12, 1998, at the Washington Veterans Home at Retsil of natural causes.
He was born Oct. 2, 1919, on Bainbridge Island to Thomas and Lilly (Talley) Griffith. He was raised in Kitsap County, attending South Kitsap schools.
On Feb. 3, 1947, he married
Ellen Jensen in Bremerton.
Mr. Griffith served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He later made his living as an evergreen worker until his retirement in 1984.
He was a member of the VFW Post No. 5372 and the "Poggy" Club of Gorst.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Stanley Griffith of Port Orchard; a daughter, Barbara Goldsmith of Seattle; a brother, Chester Griffith of Belfair; four sisters, Virginia Hinds and Margaret O'Donnell, both of Bremerton, Lilly Kelley of Clarkston and Esther May of Kent; and five grandchildren, Dustin and Brent Griffith, both of Port Orchard, and Oliver, Sommer and Grant Goldsmith, all of Seattle.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 16 at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.

Violet Di Fabbio
Violet Di Fabbio, 71, of Bremerton died Oct. 10, 1998, at Bremerton Convalescent Center.
She was born Nov. 24, 1926, in San Francisco, Calif.
Mrs. Di Fabbio was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Guido Di Fabbio; three sons, John Sanderson of Seattle and Jack and Ronnie Sanderson, both of California; a brother, Harry Zichosch of Reno, Nev.; a sister, Anita Zichosch of Sonora, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Oct. 14 at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 15, also at Lewis Chapel.
Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Malene 'Grace' Joy
Malene "Grace" Joy, 56, of Bremerton died Oct. 10, 1998, at Bremerton Convalescent Center.
She was born Sept. 2, 1942, to Herbert and Mamie (Rizzo) Kelley. She was raised in San Francisco, Calif., attending Balboa High School.
In November 1964, she married
Richard A. Joy in San Francisco, Calif.
Mrs. Joy was a member of the Retail Clerks Union. She sponsored foreign exchange students and was a foster parent.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Michael Joy of Port Orchard and Richard Joy of Wyoming; two daughters, Deana Joy Michael of Silverdale and Monica Manning of Port Orchard; and five grandchildren, Sean and Amie Michael, both of Silverdale, and Traci, Steven and Christina Manning, all of Port Orchard.
Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Oct. 17 at Our Lady Star of the Sea.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Franz Steinbacher
Franz R. Steinbacher, 88, of Bremerton died Oct. 5, 1998, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 13, 1910, in Baltimore, Md., to George and Bertha (Steinbacher) Steinbacher. He was raised in Baltimore.
Steinbacher graduated from college and became a professor of aeronautical engineering at the University of Michigan, Illinois and University of Alabama. He moved to California in 1951, and became an aeronautical engineer for the Lockheed Corp., retiring in 1964. Following his retirement, he moved to Atwater, Calif., where he became an almond rancher until retiring in his early 80s. He had been a resident of Kitsap County the past 11 1/2 years.
He was the national chairperson for Community Chest (United Way) during the late 1950s.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Keller of Bremerton; two grandchildren, Thomas R. Keller and Deena L. Fitch; and three great-grandchildren.
At the families request, there will be no services.
Cremation at Cherry Grove Memorial Park with inurnment at Evergreen Memorial Park, Merced, Calif.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Alvin Smith Jr.
Alvin Clifford Smith Jr., 40, of Port Orchard died Oct. 11, 1998, at home, after a yearlong battle with cancer.
He was born Feb. 6, 1958, in Bremerton to Alvin Sr. and Doris Smith. He grew up in the Port Orchard area, attending South Kitsap schools. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1976.
Smith served for a time in the National Guard.
He Served as a Cub Scout Master and was a soccer coach for several teams.
Survivors include his wife, Cheeri; his mother, Doris Smith; three daughters, Mary and Megan Smith and Jewel Lindsey; two sons, Jared and Devin Lindsey; and a sister, Bonnie Catalano. He was preceded in death by his father and his younger brother Kenneth.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 14 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Hoover Ave. in Port Orchard. Viewing will be at 10:30 a.m.
