Elsa Gordon
Elsa Elizabeth Gordon, 90, of Port Gamble died Sept. 30, 2001, in Port Gamble.
She was born May 16, 1911, in Kerriston to Jacob and Susanna (Kniivila) Lahti.
She married
Charles Maurice Gordon on March 10, 1934. He preceded her in death in 1968.
She worked for Frederick & Nelson Department Store in Seattle for many years.
She was a member of the Kingston Garden Club and enjoyed knitting.
Survivors include two sons, Michael of Port Angeles and Charles of Priest River, Ore.; a daughter, Margaret Miller of Kingston; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
At the family's request, no service is planned. Cremation is by Cherry Grove Crematory. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
Henry Trosky
Former Bremerton resident Henry Trosky Sr., 98, of Ellensburg died Sept. 29, 2001.
He was born Jan. 1, 1903, in Ford.
He married
Mae Elizabeth Meyers on Nov 16, 1927, in Spokane. She preceded him in death in 1993.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by two sons, Henry Jr. of Ellensburg and Donald of Jackson, Tenn.; two daughters, Virginia Bradbury of Prosser and Vera Brook of Oregon; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by eight siblings.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Affordable Funeral Home in Ellensburg. A funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, 1700 Brick Road in Ellensburg.
Memorial donations may be made to a hospice organization of the donor's choice.
Dagny Bockelie
Dagny L. Bockelie, 94, of Bremerton died Sept. 26, 2001, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center.
She was born April 17, 1907, in Norway to Elias and Maria (Tryland) Eliasson. She attended school in Norway.
She married
Trygve "Timmie) B. Larsen on April 2, 1925, in Seattle. He preceded her in death in 1983.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and reading.
She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include a son, Henrik of Bremerton; a sister, Gerd Thuestad of Santa Rosa, Calif.; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a son, Norman of Bremerton; five sisters, Sofie Hansen, Oline Bjornsen, Anna Bjornsen, Magda Rye and Leonora Tryland; and five brothers, Elias Larsen, Tobias Larsen, Olaf Vigmostad, Bjarne Larsen and Leonard Tryland.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Ruby Palmer
Ruby Palmer, 85, of Bremerton died Sept. 25, 2001, at home.
She was born May 2, 1916, in Tulare, Calif., to Henry and Neva (Adams) Robinson. She graduated from Tulare High School in 1935.
She married
Frank Palmer in 1940. He preceded her in death in 1968.
She worked for the Bremerton Library for 30 years, retiring in 1981.
She enjoyed clipping articles about Kitsap County, Bremerton and its history.
She is survived by a sister, Dorothy Robinson of Bremerton.
At the family's request, there will be no service. Cremation by Cherry Grove Crematory with inurnment at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Mabel Oen
Mabel Irene Oen, 99, of Poulsbo died Sept. 23, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born June 6, 1902, in Parkers Prairie, Minn., to Arnt and Karen (Berget) Utheim.
She was a homemaker and member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.
She was a member of Vinland Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a son, Leslie of Poulsbo; and one grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Oen, in 1957.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Vinland Lutheran Church, 2750 Finn Hill Road in Poulsbo. Inurnment will be at Vinland Church cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.

Paul Anderson
Paul S. Anderson, 52, of Bainbridge Island died of cancer Sept. 29, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Jan. 5, 1949, on Bainbridge Island to Richard and Margaret (Owens) Anderson. He graduated in 1967 from Bainbridge Island High School and attended Olympic College.
He married
Regina Glovick on April 15, 1974, in Seattle.
He worked in the warehouse at Boyer Alaska Towing for 26 years.
He enjoyed sports and gardening.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Matt of Seattle; two daughters, Wendy Moses of Poulsbo and Carrie of Silverdale; a brother, Richard Anderson Jr. of Port Orchard; two sisters, Edna Johanson of Seabeck and Barbara Wilson of Port Angeles.
A memorial service will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 8614 Potlatch Ave. Arrangements are under the direction of Kass Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island.

Ruthian Amo
Ruthian H. Amo, 81, of Bremerton died Sept. 27, 2001, at Forest Ridge Convalescent Center.
She was born March 1, 1920, in Walla Walla to John H. and Emma (Luedtke) Hill. She attended Walla Walla High School and Bremerton Business College.
She married
William James Amo on Aug. 28, 1937, in Walla Walla. He preceded her in death in 1994.
She was a Realtor and medical office secretary for 30 years, retiring in 1988.
She was a member of Kitsap Gem and Mineral Society and Kitsap Lake Community Club.
Survivors include, four sons, William of Cle Elum, Kenneth of Bremerton, Lloyd of Port Orchard and Raymond of Bremerton; a daughter, Beverly Kincaid of Port Orchard; a brother, Bernard Hill of Bellevue; two sisters, Barbara English of Bremerton and Charlotte Simpers of Port Orchard; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a son, Roy; and two brothers, Arthur Hill and Walter Hill.
There will be a family celebration of life at 1 p.m. Oct. 13 at 4423 Olympus Drive NE, in Bremerton.

Cornelis Ariens
Cornelis Ariens, 77, of Grapeview died Sept. 23, 2001, at home.
He was born Feb. 19, 1924, in Amsterdam, Holland, to Johannes and Amelia (Vrolijks) Ariens.
He attended a trade school in Amsterdam.
He married
Cornelia Ariens on Jan 8, 1948, in Holland. She died in 1992.
He worked in construction and masonry.
Mr. Ariens enjoyed gardening and traveling. He attended St. Edward's Catholic Church in Shelton.
Survivors include five sons, Hans of Allyn, Kees of Rosemead, Calif., Fred of Shelton, Frans of Phoenix and Nick of Wichita, Kan.; three daughters, Margaret Urban of Pasadena, Calif., Lia Robinson of Riverside, Calif., and Marianna Ariens of Allyn. He also was preceded in death by a son, Tony.
A funeral was held at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Pasadena. Interment
will be at Live Oaks Memorial Park in California.

Joseph Lanning
Joseph Lanning, 19, of Poulsbo died Sept. 29, 2001 in Poulsbo.
He was born Feb 16, 1982, in Bremerton to Stephen Lanning and Carrie (Jarvis) Mills. He attended North Kitsap and Shelton high schools.
He was an electrician for CPS Electric Co.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and country music.
He attended Christ Memorial Church.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Stephen and Tracy Lanning of Poulsbo; his mother and stepfather, Carrie and Wayne Mills of Shelton; six brothers, Michael, Jacob and Joshua, all of Shelton, Nicholas of Belfair, Andrew of Poulsbo and Mike Brown of Tacoma; four sisters, Nicole Lanning and Jessica Mills of Shelton, Jamie and Amanda Brown, both of Poulsbo; grandparents, Robert and Blanche Lanning, Rodney and Betty Jarvis, Sandra and Walter Walden, Marilyn Williams, Irene Lanning, Steve and Donna Lane, all of Poulsbo, Marie Mills of Shelton and Morris Lane of Silverdale.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Interment
will be at Forest Lawn cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.

Clara Crawford
Clara Dorothy Crawford, 90, of Bremerton died Sept. 28, 2001, in Seattle.
She was born Oct. 20, 1910, in Seattle to Peder and Marie (Ringstad) Wick. She graduated in 1928 from Silverdale High School and in 1930 from Wilson's Modern Business School.
She married
Kenneth R. Crawford on Dec. 24, 1930, in Silvana. He preceded her in death in 1988.
She was a real estate broker and a music and appliance store owner.
Mrs. Crawford was a member of Eastern Star and Nordmanns-Forbundet. She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a son, Jerry R. of Belfair; a daughter, Joyce M. Johnson of Bremerton; a sister, Stella Stuller of Arlington; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Marguerite Adams.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel, followed by a funeral service. Interment
will be at Twin Firs cemetery in Belfair.
Glenn Cutting
Glenn L. Cutting, 74, of Bremerton died of cancer Sept. 27, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Sept. 24, 1927, in Bovill, Idaho, to Emory and Hazel (Heidke) Cutting. He graduated in 1945 from Bremerton High School.
He married
Patty Porterfield on July 12, 1952, in Seattle.
He served in the Merchant Marines from 1945 to 1953.
He was a plumber with Standard Plumbing and Heating and Lents Inc. for 35 years, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of Local 631 and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Dana Glenn of Bremerton; two daughters, Janet Tarver of Bremerton and Sue Seabaugh of Federal Way; two sisters, Marjorie Rees of Port Orchard and Dorthea Gies of Woodinville; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Bremerton.
