Freda Ohlund
Freda Ohlund, 84, of Port Orchard died of natural causes Sept. 24, 2001, at Ridgemont Terrace.
She was born July 17, 1917, in Herndon, Kan., to George and Rosa (Ecker) Allacher.
She married
Erik Ohlund on June 2, 1948, in Bremerton. He preceded her in death in 1978.
Mrs. Ohlund was a homemaker. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Sons of Norway. She was a Lutheran.
Her survivors include two sons, Lanny Ross of Bremerton and Alan Ross of Port Orchard; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Susan Hart.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, also at Rill Chapel with private interment at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Sam Sparks
William "Sam" Sparks, 82, of Kingston died of natural causes Sept. 19, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born July 12, 1919, in Port Townsend to George and Louisa (Bates) Sparks.
Mr. Sparks served in the Army during World War II. He later was a longshoreman.
He married
Florence Henry in July 1970 in Kingston. She preceded him in death in the late 1970s.
Mr. Sparks enjoyed hunting and fishing.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribal Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Mabel Mills
Mabel Mary Mills, 90, of Port Orchard died Sept. 21, 2001, at her home.
She was born June 18, 1911, in Corning, Iowa, to William and Sara Sisk. She graduated from high school in Corning.
She married
Everett Mills on Nov. 2, 1935, in Los Angeles.
Mrs. Mills enjoyed playing golf and bowling. She was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard and St. Olaf's Catholic Church in Poulsbo.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Darrell of Spokane; three daughters, Marilyn Orrick of Sacramento, Calif., Carole Harn of Seattle and Katherine Rogers of Port Orchard; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church with interment in the Fatima Section of Forest Lawn cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Wallace Frame
Wallace E. Frame, 84, of Silverdale died Sept. 19, 2001, in Bremerton.
He was born June 14, 1917, in Faith, S.D., to Floyd and Laura (Bolander) Frame. He graduated in 1933 from Faith High School and attended airship training school.
Mr. Frame served in the Navy from 1938 to 1950, achieving the rank of aviation electronics technician chief.
He married
Myrtice Terryn on May 30, 1968, in Folkston, Ga.
Mr. Sparks was an electrical engineer for 42 years, retiring in 1982.
He enjoyed fishing and traveling to visit his family.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Larry of Seattle; two daughters, Laura Schmit of San Diego and Brenda Nores of Mount Vernon; two brothers, Jim of Rapid City, S.D., and Maurice of Lansford, N.D.; one sister, Carol Johnston of Faith; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Tom.
A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Black Hills National cemetery in Sturgis, S.D. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel and Carlsen Funeral Home in Sturgis.
Earle Benskin
Earle Benskin, 84, of Bainbridge Island died
Sept. 14, 2001, at Island Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Feb. 3, 1917, in Bremerton to Chester and Nora (Berg) Benskin. He attended Bremerton High School and graduated in 1935 from Ballard High School.
He married
Margaret Moyer on Aug. 11, 1941, in Bremerton. She preceded him in death in January.
Mr. Benskin served in the Army from 1944 to 1946 as a technician, achieving the rank of sergeant. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He also served in the Army Reserve from 1950 to 1953.
Mr. Benskin worked for the United States Postal Service for 38 years, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the Elks Club in Bremerton and was a commercial artist.
Survivors include two sons, Richard of Bellevue and Stephen of Shadow Hills, Calif.; one daughter, Marilyn (Benskin) McCallum of Bainbridge Island; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marian (Benskin) Hegdahl.
At his request, no service is planned. Interment
is at Forest Lawn cemetery with arrangements by Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Marty Wright
Martin Louis "Marty" Wright, 61, of Silverdale died of lung disease Sept. 19, 2001, in Kent.
He was born May 11, 1940, in Muskegon, Mich., to Robert "Herman" and Carmen Wright. He graduated in 1959 from Santa Clara High School in Santa Clara, Calif., and attended Oregon State University in Eugene, Ore.
Mr. Wright served in the Marine Corps from 1960 to 1962, achieving the rank of private first class.
He later worked at Hunter's Point Shipyard in San Francisco and as a toolmaker at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center at Keyport. He retired after 31 years in 1995.
He married
Mary Hale Torrence on Nov. 26, 1995, on a cruise ship out of Florida.
Mr. Wright enjoyed driving a school bus and traveling. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Michael Schmidt of California; one stepson, Mike Brazington of Potlatch, Idaho; one stepdaughter, Cindy Bogar of Moscow, Idaho; his mother, now of Santa Maria, Calif.; three sisters, Ellen LaPoint and Debbie Wright, both of California, and Sister Irene Robert Wright of Jamaica Plains, Mass.; and nine step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.
A celebration of his life will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the offices of West Sound Community Church, 2356 Rude Road in Poulsbo.
Thomas Warren
Thomas Leroy Warren, 93, of Bremerton died of pneumonia Sept. 13, 2001, at Belmont Terrace in Bremerton.
He was born on June 3, 1908, in Bremerton to Roy and Flora (Wade) Warren.
He graduated in 1924 from Auburn High School.
He married
Dian Mabrey on Nov. 23, 1939, in Mexico City. She preceded him in death in 1995.
He was a commercial fisherman for 58 years, retiring in 1983.
Mr. Warren was a member of Fisherman Co-Op and the Fisherman Trollers Association.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Jr. of Craig, Alaska; two daughters, Margie Guiberson of Port Orchard and Linda Fletcher of Bremerton; two brothers, Edward and Richard; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Warren and Richard Hart.
A graveside memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 1 at Evergreen-Washelli in Seattle. Local arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Isabelle Burroughs
Isabelle Burroughs, 67, died of natural causes Sept. 18, 2001, at her Bremerton residence.
She was born March 21, 1934, in Philadelphia to Edward and Mary (Stephanek) Groulx. She graduated in 1952 from St. Basil's Academy in Philadelphia.
She married
Dwight Burroughs on Nov. 5, 1955 in Chester, Penn. He preceded her in death in 1997.
She was a member of Young Ladies Institute and Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Marie Morgan of Marysville; four sisters, Babe Fronsee of Florida, Dorothy Robinson of Spokane, Mary Anne Schroeder of Beaver, Wisc., and Bonita Colony of Oregon; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters, E.G. Kinjerski and Jeanne Kinjerski.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A rosary will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Inurnment will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Edith Dinan
Edith M. Dinan, 80, of Bremerton died Sept. 21, 2001, at Belmont Terrace in Bremerton.
She was born July 22, 1921, in Gooding, Idaho, to Jerry and Abigail (Huyser) Frick. She graduated in 1938 from Gooding High School.
She married
John E. Dinan on Sept 20, 1942, in Port Orchard.
She was manager of Sandy's Fabric Store for 15 years, retiring in 1977.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Jerry E., of Portland; a daughter, Nancy Salvesen of Bremerton; a brother, Jerry Frick Jr. of Gresham, Ore; a sister, Mary Fouts of Caldwell, Idaho; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent. A celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 6 at First Christian Church, in Bremerton. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Hazel Peters
Hazel Louise Caldwell Peters, 74, died of cancer Sept. 23, 2001, at her home in Port Orchard.
She was born Dec. 19, 1926, in Hartshorne, Okla., to Calvin and Fannie (Stevenson) Lane. She graduated from Chaffey High School in Ontario, Canada.
She married
Nicholas Peters in McAllister, Okla.
She enjoyed bowling and bingo. She was a Protestant.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Darlene Burleigh of Shelton and Paula Martin of Vallejo, Calif.; two brothers, John Calvin Lane of Pinole, Calif., and William Lane of Paradise, Calif.; three sisters, Dena Andrews of Vacaville, Calif., Freda Cowell of Rodeo, Calif., and Joyce Holton of Paradise, Calif.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Anita Jean Astiz.
A memorial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bremerton Church of the Nazarene. Arrangements are under the direction of Kitsap Cremation and Burial Society.

Martha Havens
Martha F. Havens, 75, of Bremerton died of cancer Sept. 24, 2001, at Belmont Terrace Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 29, 1925, in Rocky Ford, Colo., to Frank and Elma (West) Beck. She graduated from high school in Renton.
She married
Robert G. Havens on Aug. 22, 1947, in Tacoma.
She was a homemaker and member of Hillcrest Assembly of God.
Survivors include two sons, Robert A. of Lowman, Idaho and Don P. of Lynnwood; a daughter, Janet Trudeau of The Dalles, Ore.; two brothers; three sisters; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather in celebration of her life today from noon to 2 p.m. at the Haven residence, 8760 State Highway 303, No. R, in Bremerton. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.
