Brandy La Porte
Brandy Marie La Porte, 14, of Port Orchard died of heart failure resulting from a congenital heart disease Sept. 17, 2001, at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma.
She was born Feb. 13, 1987, in Bellevue to Robin and Jamie (Joslin) La Porte. She was a ninth-grader at Marcus Whitman Junior High School in Port Orchard.
She enjoyed school and being around people.
Survivors include her parents; four brothers, Brandon and Kyle La Porte, both of Port Orchard, and Zach and CJ Extine, both of Tukwila; and two sisters, Kelsey and Nicole Extine, both of Tukwila.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, also at Lewis Funeral Chapel.
A memorial fund to help with final expenses has been established at the Bank of America. Donations may be made to the Brandy La Porte memorial fund at any branch.
Fannie Beglau
Fannie Deloris Eva Beglau, 73, of Bremerton died Sept. 16, 2001, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 24, 1928, in Ashley, N.D., to Frederick and Eva (Reuther) Beglau. She graduated in 1946 from Ashley High School and in 1949 from North Central Bible Institute & Theological Seminary in Minneapolis.
She worked in Bremerton for the Arnold Wang Real Estate Company and later for civil service. She retired in 1971.
She was a member of The World Wildlife Fund, Bremerton Republican Women and Hillcrest Assembly of God.
She is survived by a brother, Otto of El Paso, Texas.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Interment
will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church cemetery in Ashley.

Robert Williams
Robert Williams, 60, of Bremerton died of metostatic carcinoma July 9, 2001, in Tacoma.
He was born May 29, 1941, in New York.
He was a dishwasher.
No service is planned. Interment
will be at Oakwood Hill cemetery in Tacoma under the direction of Oakwood Hill Funeral Chapel.
Shirley Sidow
Shirley Ann Sidow, 68, of Port Orchard died of cancer Sept. 18, 2001, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Tacoma.
She was born May 3, 1933, in Tacoma to Harold and Eileen (Gruver) Campbell. She graduated in 1951 from Stadium High School and attended Washington State University in Pullman and the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma.
She was a secretary for the Teamsters Union in Seattle and a clerk with the United States Postal Service in Olalla and Port Orchard.
She enjoyed bowling and playing bridge.
Survivors include four daughters, Karen Hoem of Port Orchard, Colleen Hunter of Tacoma and Bonnie Peterson and Cindy Sidow-McCrory, both of Bellingham; two sisters, Bonnie Erdahl of Tacoma and Millie Dickson of University Place; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Alice Barth
Alice Caroline Barth, 89, of Port Orchard died of natural causes Sept. 18, 2001, at her home.
She was born Dec. 7, 1911, in Tacoma to Andrew and Anna (Ostrom) Lidstrom. She graduated in 1929 from South Kitsap High School and later from business college.
She was a deputy clerk of Kitsap County Superior Court for 20 years.
She enjoyed league bowling and baseball, especially the Mariners.
Survivors include two daughters, Sylvia Smith of Port Orchard and Janet Hamre of Kirkland; one brother, Andrew Lidstrom of Las Vegas; one sister, Catherine King of Ridgecrest, Calif.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Hamilton in 1947; her second husband, Louis Barth in 1981; and by a brother, Harold Lidstrom.
Private inurnment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Marjorie McPherren
Marjorie McPherren, 95, of Port Ludlow died of leukemia Sept. 16, 2001, in Bremerton.
She was born Dec. 4, 1905, in Omaha, Neb. She was a 1924 graduate of Omaha's Central High School.
She married
Wayne McPherren. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. McPherren was a a contralto soloist for 30 years.
She was a member of PEO, various musical societies and the Presbyterian church.
Survivors include two daughters, Elinor Quinn of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Sally Orsborn of Port Ludlow; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Interment will be in Nebraska. Local arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Teresa Tanski
Former Bremerton resident Teresa Louise (McCann) Tanski, 44, of Krum, Texas, died of cancer Sept. 4, 2001, at Denton Medical Center in Denton, Texas.
She was born May 10, 1957, in Nuremberg, Germany, to Dorothy and Wayne McCann.
She attended Bremerton High School and graduated from Manhattan School of Nursing in Port Orchard.
Mrs. Tanski was a registered nurse and midwife.
She enjoyed caring for children. She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Denton.
Survivors include her husband, Alexander Tanski; her mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Mike Vehrs of Kingston; her father, Wayne McCann of Port Orchard; two sons, Patrick of Fort Lee, Va. and Gearith of Krum; six daughters, Tamy Liles of Kansas and Angelique, Cara, Alexis, Ariel and Kyla Tanski, all of Krum; two brothers, Terry McCann of Gig Harbor and Mike McCann of Bremerton; one sister, LaDawn Jasper of Kingston; and her grandmother, Maxine Graves of Bremerton. She was
preceded in death by her grandfather, Bill Graves.
A Mass was held Sept. 7 at St. Mark Cathedral. Inurnment was at Dallas/Fort Worth National cemetery under the direction of Berry Funeral Home in Denton.
Thelma Moen
Thelma Caroline Moen, 86, of Bremerton died of natural causes Sept. 15, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Sept. 14, 1915, in Souris, N.D., to Herman William and Mabel Carrie (Anderson) Lucht.
She married
Allan Moen on Nov. 3, 1937, in Rugby, N.D. He preceded her in death in 1991.
Mrs. Moen enjoyed spending with her family and traveling.
Survivors include four sons, Gary of Poulsbo, Arlan of Anaheim Hills, Calif., Leland of Silverdale and Darwin of Bremerton; one daughter, Carla Speck of Bremerton; one brother, Stanley Lucht of Grand Forks, N.D.; one sister, Clara Bayer of Mukilteo; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A private celebration of her life will be held at the family home. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Beverly Hammock
Beverly J. Hammock, 75, of Bremerton died following complications caused by multiple sclerosis Sept. 18, 2001, at Belmont Terrace in Bremerton.
She was born May 25, 1926, in Eau Claire, Wis., to Herbert and Leona (Downer) Pfeffer. She graduated in 1944 from Eau Claire High School.
She married
Ben Alex Hammock on Feb. 20, 1927, in Bremerton. He preceded her in death in 1960.
She was a homemaker and also worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in the 1940s.
She enjoyed watching sports on television and was a Mariners fan.
She attended Silverdale Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, Bern of Port Orchard; a daughter, Benita Littlefield of Conroe, Texas; three sisters, Harriet Pomerenk of Seattle, Dorothy Morrison of Port Orchard and Shirley Rhode of Elk River, Mich.; and three grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert J. Pfeffer.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Interment
will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Alma Sheriff
Alma E. Sheriff, 85, of Bremerton died Sept. 12, 2001, at home.
She was born May 26, 1916, in Nickolsville, Ohio, to Ed and Emma (Jones) Custer.
She married
John H. Sheriff on May 22, 1939, in Georgetown, Ohio. He preceded her in death in 1988.
Survivors include two daughters, Esther Fleshman of Bremerton and Ruth Cooper of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Thelma Fiscus of Bethel, Ohio; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Russel Custer and Wilbur Custer; and a sister, Mary Pugh.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mrs. Sheriff's home, 6039 Sandpiper Court, in Bremerton.

Florence Repine
Florence May Elizabeth Repine, 85, of Poulsbo died Sept. 17, 2001, in Bremerton.
She was born Dec. 26, 1915, in Lead City, S.D., to John and Gladys (Symons) Tregidga.
She married
Theodore "Ted" Repine on Jan. 27, 1973, in Kingston.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and sewing.
She was a Protestant.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Dolly Fredericks of Poulsbo; two sisters, Ruth Fountain and Gladys Hamilton of Seattle; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and a funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, both at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
David Dixon
Former Port Orchard resident David Sherman Dixon, 75, of Las Vegas died of Parkinson's disease Sept. 2, 2001, in Las Vegas.
He was born July 23, 1926, in Little Rock, Ark., to George and Etta Lulu (Casebeer) Dixson. He graduated in 1944 from South Kitsap High School and from the University of Washington.
He served in the Army from 1944 to 1945, achieving the rank of sergeant and receiving the Purple Heart. He was a member of General MacArthur's elite guard in occupied Japan.
He married
Barbara Cook on Aug. 19, 1948, in Bremerton. She preceded him in death in 1994.
He was a chemical engineer at Rainier Brewing Co., before working as a nuclear engineer for 25 years at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
He enjoyed gardening and carpentry and was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Aberdeen.
Survivors include three daughters, Ann of Willow, Alaska, Pam of Las Vegas and Jan Johnson of Tacoma; and seven grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Norman.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Elim Lutheran Church in Port Orchard. Inurnment will take place at Willamette National cemetery in Oregon.
