Mervin Hall
Mervin L. Hall, 82, of Port Orchard died Aug. 15, 2001, in Port Orchard.
He was born Feb. 16, 1919, in Seattle to Grover and Isabelle Hall. He graduated in 1937 from South Kitsap High School.
He married
Billie Hazard on April 10, 1942, in Port Angeles. She preceded him in death in 1991.
He married
Genevieve Pisel on Feb. 14, 1992, in Port Orchard.
Mr. Hall served in the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945, achieving the rank of technical sergeant.
He later taught at South Kitsap High School for 30 years, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows 145 and the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks 1181.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gerald of Bremerton and Kenneth of Tacoma; two daughters, Toni Banning of Redmond and Karen Chapman of Port Orchard; one brother, Donald of Lynnwood; one sister, Doris Winter of Albany, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Leroy.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 25 also at Rill Chapel. Interment
will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
Hazel Gunn
Hazel Isobel Gunn, 93, of Port Orchard died of natural causes Aug. 12, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Jan. 26, 1908, in Rock Valley, Iowa, to Lynn and Margaret (Wilson) MacDonald. She attended Ballard High School.
She was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading and was a member of Eagles Aerie 2888 in Lynnwood.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Spellman of San Francisco and Donelle Soto of Woodland, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Schoenberger, in 1965; her second husband, Dewey Gunn, in 1991; a son, Dewey Gunn Jr.; a daughter, Lynn Schoenberger; two brothers; four sisters; and two grandsons.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Edmonds cemetery in Edmonds. Inurnment arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Kathryn Reed
Kathryn D. Reed, 80, of Kingston died of lung cancer Aug. 13, 2001, in Silverdale.
She was born March 23, 1921, in Eubank, Ky., to William H. and Sara A. (Howell) Vanover.
She is survived by a son, Charles Mofford of Oregon; a daughter, Gloria Holcomb of Kingston; a sister, Eileen Plummer of Kentucky; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Mofford; her second husband, Robert Reed; and a great-grandchild, Deven Jones.
A memorial service was held Friday at Clearbrook Inn Living Center, 12295 Schold Place NW in Silverdale. Inurnment will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.

Anna Bell
Anna M. Bell, 101, of Bremerton died of natural causes Aug. 11, 2001, at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born April 8, 1900, in Braddock, Pa., to Carl and Anna Brunner. She graduated from high school in Pennsylvania.
She married
Dennis Bell on July 15, 1940, in Chicago. He preceded her in death in 1987.
Mrs. Bell was a professional model and later was a licensed practical nurse for 10 years.
Her survivors include one son, Robert of Hawthorn Woods, Ill.; one daughter, Marjorie Ponder of Bremerton; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a son, Raymond, in 1961.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Sylvan Way Baptist Church in Bremerton. Inurnment will be at Willamette National cemetery in Portland, Ore.
Memorial donations may be made to Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Hole Tero
Steven H. "Hole" Tero, 48, of Poulsbo died Aug. 14, 2001, at Harborview Medical Center of injuries from an automobile accident in Central Valley on July 28.
He was born July 11, 1953, in Seattle to Clifford and Dorothy (Ridnour) Tero. He graduated in 1972 from North Kitsap High School.
Mr. Tero was a painter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 27 years.
He enjoyed musical concerts and Harley Davidsons.
Survivors include his fiancee, Kathy Lewis; his father; one son, Andrew of Georgia; and one grandson. His mother preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be at noon Saturday at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel, 22272 Foss Road NE.

Tom Delmendo
Thomas Rex "Tom" Delmendo, 48, of Bremerton died Aug. 10, 2001, at his home.
He was born Oct. 22, 1952, in Bremerton to George and Jeanne Delmendo. He attended Bremerton High School.
Mr. Delmendo was a baker and a taxi dispatcher. He enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include his mother; two daughters, Andrea Bernard and Lisa Malone, both of Chelan; three brothers, David and Jon Delmendo, both of Bremerton, and Scott Clewis of Oregon; three sisters, Andrea Falkner of Bremerton, Dianne Hart of Virginia and Cristine Delmendo of Tacoma; and five grandchildren.
Private services were held Tuesday in Manchester.
Memorial donations may be made to cerebral palsy research.
John Doyle
John M. Doyle, 88, of Silverdale died Aug. 9, 2001, of pneumonia at Marine Courte Memory Care Community in Bremerton.
He was born July 5, 1913, in Wilkeson.
He married
Jean O'Brien on Sept. 4, 1943, in Tacoma.
Mr. Doyle owned a tavern in Pateros for 25 years. He retired in 1978.
He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, John of Silverdale and Mark of Medina; two daughters, Wendy Bridgeman of Cle Elum and Sally Clark of Silverdale; and nine grandchildren.
Private family services were held Sunday.
Viola Clark
Viola M. Clark, 82, of Bremerton died Aug. 13, 2001, in Bremerton.
She was born March 1, 1919, in Bellingham to Archie and Edith (Rollins) Ellis. She attended Bremerton High School.
She married
Allen Clark on June 23, 1939, in Bremerton. He preceded her in death last year.
Mrs. Clark was a grocery clerk for 15 years, retiring in 1980.
She enjoyed fishing and playing bingo.
Survivors include two daughters, Pamela O'Brien of Port Orchard and Toni Thompson of Deer Park; one brother, LeRoy Grant Dix of Pleasanton, Calif.; and six grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith "Skip" Ellis and Grace Kennedy; and by a brother, Howard Dix.
At her request, no service will be held.

Eddie Woodby
Eddie Woodby, 52, of Port Orchard died of cancer Aug. 8, 2001, in Bremerton.
He was born April 15, 1949, in Maryville, Tenn., to G.W. and Edna Woodby. He graduated in 1967 from West Bremerton High School.
He was a heating and air conditioning technician for 15 years.
He enjoyed remote control boats and flying kites.
Survivors include his mother of Bremerton; two daughters, Robin Leger of Bremerton and Ali Garlock of Las Vegas; a sister, Gayle Boyd of Tacoma; grandmother, Valaria Williams of Marietta, Ga.; and four grandchildren.
A gathering of friends and family is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at Scenic Beach State Park.

Carl Miller Jr.
Carl Joseph Miller Jr., 78, of Bremerton died Aug. 10, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born July 18, 1923, in Bremerton to Carl Joseph and Margaret (Jones) Miller Sr. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1941. He completed an apprenticeship at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1950 and graduated from Olympic College.
Mr. Miller served as a paratrooper in the Army's airborne division from 1943 to 1945.
After World War II, he worked at PSNS for 30 years, retiring as a reactor plant general foreman.
Mr. Miller was a member of Disabled American Veterans and participated in an association for veterans of airborne service with the Army. He was a member of the Presbyterian church.
He is survived by his companion, Peggy Forsten; two daughters, Caroline and Gail, both of Bremerton; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Warren of California.
A private graveside service with military honors is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
