Doris Currier
Doris Vernona Currier, 77, died of lung cancer Aug. 12, 2001, at her residence in Gorst.
She was born Dec. 5, 1923, in Hawthorne, Calif., to John and Florence M. (Jester) Davis. She received her education in Los Angeles.
She married
Charles E. Currier on April 19, 1942 in Hawthorne. He preceded her in death in 1972.
During the 1950s she was a machinist at the Renton Boeing plant. She worked in Shop 31 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard until retiring in 1972 and resumed her career as a homemaker.
She enjoyed traveling and watching movies from the 1930s and 1940s.
Survivors include two sons, Charles "Edd" E. Currier Jr. of Keyport and David P. Currier of Gorst; two daughters, Dorene Sheridan of Silverdale and Deanna V. Hopper of Gorst; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Paul; and three sisters, Alice, Billie and Jerry.
A gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Lulu Stevens
Lulu M. Stevens, 91, of Tracyton died Aug. 12, 2001, at Seatoma Convalescent Home in Des Moines.
She was born April 13, 1910, in Tracyton to Joseph and Lula (McPhee) Sackman. She attended school in Tracyton.
She married
John Stevens on Oct. 9, 1956, in Oregon. He preceded her in death in 1990.
Mrs. Stevens had worked at the torpedo station in Keyport during World War II. She also had been employed as a waitress.
She enjoyed crocheting and the outdoors. She had been a member of Tracyton United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Lloyd Bowen of Tacoma and Mike Stevens of Buckley; one daughter, Alice Hoffman of Tracyton; one sister, Lois Kvarkstrom of South Kitsap; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Dude Sackman; two sisters, Lacy Mead and Glow O'Connor; and her half-brothers and half-sisters.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Friday at Tracyton United Methodist Church.

Jack Napper
Jack D. Napper, 82, of Bremerton died Aug. 11, 2001, of natural causes at Martha and Mary Health Care Center.
He was born Aug. 12, 1918, in Hoquiam to Amiel and Edith (Dokke) Napper. He graduated from Montesano High School in 1937 and from Olympic College in 1954.
He married
Kathryn Jordan on Aug. 22, 1944, in Montesano.
Mr. Napper served in the Army during World War II, achieving the rank of technical sergeant in Army intelligence.
He was a local business owner and also worked in real estate sales. He retired in 1990.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jack of Bremerton and Michael of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Carol Deyo of San Diego; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for noon Saturday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 700 Callahan Drive in Bremerton. Cremation is under the direction of Cherry Grove Memorial Park with arrangements by Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Marguerite Lewis
Marguerite H. Lewis, 93, of Poulsbo died Aug. 13, 2001.
She was born Dec. 24, 1907, in Oak Harbor to Franklin and Isabel Smith.
She worked at Children's Hospital in Oakland for 18 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Sue Cruse; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald. E. Lewis.
Ruth Baker
Ruth Grady Baker, 84, of Bremerton died of congestive heart failure Aug. 14, 2001, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center.
She was born April 23, 1917, in Chicago to John and Gertrude (Moeller) Grady. She graduated from Lakeview High School in Chicago in 1934 and attended business school.
She married
Harlan Baker on Nov. 6, 1940, in Chicago. He preceded her in death in 1980.
Mrs. Baker retired from the Naval Supply Center at Puget Sound in 1981.
She was a life master of the American Contract Bridge League and member of First United Methodist Church of Bremerton.
Survivors include two sons, Richard and Preston of Bremerton; one daughter, Connie Baker-Saunders of Bremerton; one sister, Dorothy Bernauer of Glenview, Ill.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Burkhardt of Everett.

Donna Gurtler
Donna Gurtler, 45, of Poulsbo died following an automobile accident on Bainbridge Island Aug. 12, 2001.
She was born April 23, 1956, in Chicago to William and Rose Marie (Bruno) Metallo. She graduated from high school in Lombard, Ill., in 1974.
She married
Mark Gurtler in 1992.
Mrs. Gurtler enjoyed theater and reading.
Survivors include her husband; her parents; one son, Calvin of Poulsbo; and one sister, Paula Maynor of Elmhurst, Ill.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Bainbridge Alliance Church, 9624 Sportsman Club Road. Arrangements are under the direction of Kass Funeral Home on Bainbridge Island.
Kenneth Flint
Kenneth Clair Flint, 79, of Poulsbo died Aug. 13, 2001, at Martha & Mary Health Care Center.
He was born Aug. 19, 1921, in Breckenridge, Minn., to Harry and Myrtle (Knudsen) Flint. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1939.
Mr. Flint served in the Army from 1942 to 1948, achieving the rank of staff sergeant.
He worked for the Bremerton Police Department and later for the federal prison system, retiring in 1984.
Mr. Flint enjoyed building model trains and playing the organ.
Survivors include one son, Karl of Tacoma; one daughter, Leanne Barrington of California; one sister, Dolores Bosley of Bremerton; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Stanley Baunsgard
Stanley Jan Baunsgard, 65, of Grapeview died Aug. 9, 2001, at the Washington Veterans Home in Retsil.
He was born Aug. 5, 1936, in Seattle to Stanley and Helen (Perry) Baunsgard. He graduated from high school in Seattle in 1964.
Mr. Baunsgard served in the Navy. He later was a machinist in California for many years.
He is survived by one brother, Perry of Grapeview.

Helen Gordon
Helen I. Gordon, 87, of Silverdale died Aug. 13, 2001, at Northwoods Lodge in Silverdale.
She was born Sept. 30, 1913, in Poulsbo to Edwin and Elfrida (Ulvang) Eliasen. She graduated from high school in Poulsbo.
She married
Robert Gordon on March 5, 1938, in Port Orchard. He preceded her in death in 1975.
Survivors include two sons, Allan of Silverdale and Robert of Saint Maries, Idaho; one brother, Oscar Eliasen of Poulsbo; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Robert Averill
Robert Eugene Averill, 79, of Belfair died after an extended illness Aug. 13, 2001, in Port Orchard.
He was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Gresham, Ore., to William and Eunice (Orr) Averill. He graduated in 1939 from Corvallis High School in Corvallis, Ore., and attended Oregon State University in Corvallis.
He married
Eileen Tompkins on Nov. 25, 1942, in Corvallis.
Mr. Averill served in the Army as a private in 1942. He worked later in sales and photography, retiring in 1984.
He enjoyed ham radio and traveling.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Thomas of Shoreline; one daughter, Mary Linda Harding of Longview; one brother, Richard of Aptos, Calif.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dwight.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Barbara Ramstad
Barbara Lucille Ramstad, 83, of Poulsbo died Aug. 12, 2001, at Martha & Mary Health Care Center.
She was born July 29, 1918, in Dayton, Wash., to James and Nellie (Jackson) Barcus. She graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1936 and later from Utah State University.
She had worked at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center at Keyport for many years, retiring in 1979 as a payroll supervisor.
She enjoyed camping and sewing. She was a member of the Catholic church.
Survivors include two daughters, Katherine DeNune of Poulsbo and Mary Anne Rushton of Port Townsend; one sister, Catherine Olson of Vancouver, Wash.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
At the family's request, no services will be held. Cremation is under the direction of Cherry Grove Memorial Park with arrangements by Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
Georgia Johnson
Georgia Emma Johnson, 93, of Port Orchard died July 31, 2001, in Port Orchard.
She was born Oct. 4, 1907, in Newcastle to George A. and Pearl Belle (Rouse) Smith. She attended South Kitsap High School (formerly known as Union High School).
She married
William A. Johnson on Oct. 31, 1936, in Port Orchard. He preceded her in death in 1960.
She was a restaurant cook for many years and a homemaker.
She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son, Lincoln G. Beal, of Colville; four grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Charles Smith; a sister, Alice Beal; and a son, Charles R. Beal.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery.
