Darren Stanfel
Darren Lawrence Stanfel, 26, of Bremerton died of Cystic Fibrosis on July 24, 2001, at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle.
He was born Nov. 14, 1974, in Bellevue to Lawrence and Lenore (Erickson) Stanfel. He graduated in 1993 from Sammamish High School in Bellevue and in 1996 from Bellevue Community College.
Mr. Stanfel was a Web site developer with Classic Car Consulting in Bremerton for five years.
He enjoyed model building and was a member of the Kitsap Mustang Club.
Survivors include his parents of Bremerton; a sister, Angela Stanfel Wood of Bremerton; and his grandparents, August and Gladys Stanfel of Kenmore.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at
St. Mark's Catholic Church, 18033 15th Place NE in Seattle. Arrangements are under the direction of Beck's Funeral Home in Edmonds.

Patricia Mailbaum
Patricia Eileen Maibaum, 40, of Port Ludlow died July 23, 2001, at her home.
She was born Nov. 18, 1960, in Seattle to James and Norma Jean (Hansen) Collins. She graduated from Blanchet High School in Seattle and from Seattle Community College.
She married
Michael Alan Maibaum on Sept. 12, 1986.
Survivors include her husband; her parents; a brother, James Collins; and three sisters, Jeanne Weeks, Susan Lutgen and Nancy Swartout.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a rosary at 10:30 a.m. and a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. today, all at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton. Arrangements are under the direction of Kosec Funeral Home in Port Townsend.
Louise (Johnson) West
Louise Edith (Johnson) West, 86, of Silverdale and formerly of Aberdeen, died of cancer July 23, 2001, at the home of her daughter, Glenda Coma, in Bellevue.
She was born Sept. 14, 1914, in High River, Alberta, Canada, to Joseph and Edith (Kruger) Johnson. She was a 1921 graduate of Montesano High School in Montesano and a 1923 graduate of Grays Harbor Business College in Aberdeen.
She married
Glenn Elton West on Nov. 13, 1937, in Brady. He preceded her in death in 1995.
Mrs. West was a member of the YMCA Ladies Auxiliary in Aberdeen. She also was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen and participated in a church women's group.
Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Coma of Bellevue and Sandra Tyrian of Silverdale; a brother, William Johnson of Olympia; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Johnson; and a sister, Doris "Dode" Hulet.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church, 100 E. Second St. in Aberdeen.

Norman Anderson
Norman W. Anderson, 73, of Port Orchard died July 25, 2001, at Ridgemont Terrace.
He was born March 6, 1928, in Ralph, S.D., to Axel and Maude (Cannon) Anderson. He graduated in 1944 from Valley High School in Valley and attended the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma.
Mr. Anderson served in the Army for two years.
He worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, first as a welder and later as a purchaser, retiring in 1996.
Mr. Anderson enjoyed bowling.
He is survived by a brother, Earl of Tacoma. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, in 1997, and brother, Carl.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Ande Keys
Former Bremerton resident Scott "Ande" Alexander Keys, 24, of Bellingham died July 24, 2001, in Bellingham.
He was born March 30, 1977, in Seattle to Elizabeth Moya. He graduated in 1995 from Central Kitsap High School, in 1999 from Olympic College in 1999 and attended Western Washington University in Bellingham.
Mr. Keys was a supervisor at Costco in Bellingham. He enjoyed football and working out.
Survivors include his fiancee, Kimberly Kay Eskelson; his mother of Bremerton; a sister, Dee Dee Keys of Cheney; and his grandparents, Robert and Norma Olmstead of Bremerton.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A graveside service follows at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Flossie Johnson
Flossie Viola Johnson, 84, of Bremerton died of natural causes July 24, 2001, at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born June 27, 1917, in Arbyrd, Mo., to Harve and Eva Mae (Griffen) Adams.
She married
James Edward Johnson in Missouri in 1951. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Mrs. Johnson was a caregiver for 18 years. She was an avid reader.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Dedmon and Tommie Jean Eastep, both of California; a sister, Thelma Machado of California; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two ons, Wilson Vestal Turner and Thomas Rouse; and two brothers, Eugene and Franklin Adams.
At her request, no service will be held. Her ashes will be scattered at her favorite location in the Olympic Mountains at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.

Bud Seamans
Robert "Bud" Raymond Seamans, 85, of Bremerton died July 14, 2001, at Evergreen Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Dec. 18, 1915, in Canada to Amos and Hattie Seamans.
He married
Dorothy Elva Lane in November 1936 in Snohomish County. She preceded him in death in 2000.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He worked in the transportation department at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Shop 07, until retiring after 20 years.
He enjoyed building houses and wintering in Mexico and Yuma, Ariz.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Jr., Victor and Richard, all of Bremerton; and eight grandchildren.

Stephen Gross
Stephen W. Gross, 50, of Seabeck died July 22, 2001, at his home.
He was born June 22, 1951, in Bremerton to Howard and Ardus Gross. He graduated from Central Kitsap High School and from Olympic College. He also completed an apprenticeship at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
Mr. Gross was a pipe welder on the Naval Submarine Base Bangor for 14 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Paulsen; his mother of Chico; a son, Jason of Sacramento, Calif.; a daughter, Shannon Leeman of Seabeck; a stepson, Curt Paulsen of Seabeck; a stepdaughter, Jodi Paulsen of Seabeck; two brothers, Mike and Gary, both of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Crosby Chapel, 16404 NW Church Road in Seabeck. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
William Weaver
William D. Weaver, 52, of Port Orchard died of pancreatic cancer July 19, 2001, at his home.
He was born Dec. 29, 1948, in Paris, Ill., to William and Jean (Dadson) Weaver. He graduated from Central Kitsap High School and attended Olympic College.
Mr. Weaver served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
He and his wife, Terri, were married
Nov. 2, 1974, in Bremerton.
Mr. Weaver owned The Bargain Barrel Store in Bremerton for the past 10 years. He enjoyed fishing and music.
Survivors include his wife; his mother of Port Orchard; two sons, William and Lincoln, both of Port Orchard; and a sister, Teri of New York.
A wake will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Beatrice Rackley
Beatrice E. Rackley, 75, of Bremerton died of respiratory failure July 14, 2001, in Gresham, Ore.
She was born Dec. 16, 1925, in Scranton, Pa., to Elmer and Mathilda (Pittack) Brown.
She married
Larry Schenck in 1948.
She was a pilot in the Women's Ferry Command near the end of World War II.
She worked in Portland, Ore., at Bruno's Studios and retired from Tradewell Stores after 20 years as a grocery clerk.
She enjoyed photography and flying.
Survivors include a son, Darrel Schenck of Portland; two daughters, Catherine Lindeman of Silverdale and Rani Guterriez of Bremerton; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Schenck.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 18 at
St. Paul of Damascus Lutheran Church in Boring, Ore. Inurnment will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Affordable Funeral Alternatives.

Tuffy Dean
Ernest H. "Tuffy" Dean, 87, died July 23, 2001, at his Port Orchard residence.
He was born April 23, 1914, in Morrill, Neb., to Rolland and Harriet (Baugh) Dean.
He married
Susan F. McGinnis on Dec. 17, 1943, in Lusk, Wyo. She preceded him in death in 1995.
He served in the Navy and was a pipefitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 14 years, retiring in 1986.
He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family.
Survivors include three daughters, Kim Mayhue of Casper, Wyo., Charol Riedel of Port Orchard and Debra Beall of Deaver, Wyo.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward E. and Rolland F. Dean.
Visitation will be at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, with a funeral service immediately following. Interment
will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
