James Fix
James L. Fix, 60, of Bremerton died of lung cancer July 19, 2001, at home.
He was born April 27, 1941, in Rock Springs, Wyo., to Harold and Frieda (Atherton) Fix. He graduated in 1959 from Grossmont School in El Cajon, Calif., and in 1970 from an apprenticeship program at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
He married
Margaret "Peggy" Lambert, on June 30, 1962, in Great Falls, Mont.
He served in the Air Force from 1959 to 1963, attaining the rank of Airman 2nd Class.
He worked at PSNS as a pipefitter and scheduler for more than 32 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a handyman and enjoyed square dancing.
Survivors include his wife; his parents of El Cajon; two sons, Douglas of Port Orchard and Stephen of Silverdale; a daughter, Lacey Jackson of Port Orchard; a brother, William of San Diego; a sister, Carol Goodwater of Seattle; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. at Kitsap Square Dance Hall on Tuesday. A pot-luck luncheon will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Will Thomas
Will A. Thomas, 75, of Bainbridge Island died July 19, 2001, in Seattle.
He was born Oct. 11, 1925, in Gilroy, Calif., to Will and Gertrude (Jones) Thomas.
Mr. Thomas graduated from high school in 1943 and joined the U.S. Marine Corps serving in WWII and the Korean War. He attained the rank of sergeant.
He married
Gwendolyn J. Wolfe, who survives him.
He also is survived by his son, Gordon; two daughters, Jeannet Whitney and Pamela Mersch; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 Fourth St., Gilroy, California.
Funeral and entombment arrangements are under the direction of Habing Family Funeral Home.
Leslie Hooks
Former Bremerton resident Leslie Lorraine Hooks, 34, of Bellevue died July 8, 2001, at her home.
She was born Aug. 14, 1966, in Champaign-Urbana, Ill., to Maurice and Mary Ellen Hooks. She was a 1984 graduate of Olympic High School and had attended Griffin College in Seattle.
She enjoyed her friendships and her pets.
Survivors include her mother, Mary Ellen Hooks of Bremerton; her father and stepmother, Maurice Hooks and Nancy Clifford of Silverdale; a sister, Carole (Hooks) Emans of Bremerton; and her grandmother, Delores Hooks of Percy, Ill.
Private family services have been held. Inurnment will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Thelma Dewaele
Thelma Jennie Dewaele, 80, of Morton died July 17, 2001, at Harborview Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 9, 1921, in Vancouver, British Columbia, to Lars and Jennie (Hansen) Lovik. She graduated from South Kitsap High School.
She married
Julien James Dewaele on Dec. 20, 1941, in Bremerton. He preceded her in death in 1982.
Mrs. Dewaele was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, James Julien of Morton and Joseph of Packwood; a daughter, Susan Jennie Miller of Winlock; a brother, Melvin Lovik of Port Orchard; two sisters, Gertrude Thompson and Signe Holtine, both of Bremerton; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by a son, Melvin Lars in 1964.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morton. Interment
will follow at 3 p.m. at Haven of Rest cemetery in Gig Harbor. Arrangements are under the direction of Brown Mortuary Service in Morton.
Aslaug Falkner
Aslaug Falkner, 94, of Poulsbo died July 18, 2001, at Harbor House in Poulsbo.
She was born Sept. 17, 1906, in Trysil, Norway, to Halvdon and Gunhild (Flendalen) Amundsen. She was a 1926 graduate of Union High School in Poulsbo.
She married
William Falkner on April 9, 1927, in Tacoma. He preceded her in death in 1992.
Mrs. Falkner was a homemaker. She was a member of Vinland Lutheran Church in Poulsbo.
Survivors include a son, William of Poulsbo; a daughter, Helen Jensen of Poulsbo; a brother, Harry Amundsen of Kent; five sisters, Olea Johnson and Bertha Whitman, both of Bremerton, Ruth Gray of Port Townsend, Haldis Portmann of Poulsbo and Gudrun Keck of Kent; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Vinland Lutheran Church with interment at Vinland Lutheran Church cemetery.

John Fergerson
John Fergerson II, 19, of Bremerton died from injuries suffered in a traffic accident July 17, 2001, at Harborview Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 15, 1982, in Fayetteville, N.C., to John and Frances (Collins) Fergerson. He graduated from Atwater High School in Atwater, Calif.
Mr. Fergerson enjoyed working out and running track. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include his parents of Bremerton; a brother, Joseph of Bremerton; a sister, Chaka of Merced, Calif.; and his grandparents, Ronnie and Edna Wingfield.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A celebration of his life will be at 11 a.m. Monday also at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Cremation is under the direction of Cherry Grove Crematory.
Emil Brase
Emil C. Brase, 85, of Brinnon died July 13, 2001, in Port Townsend.
He was born March 5, 1916, in Tripoli, Iowa, to Louis and Louise (Christiansen) Brase.
He married
Rosie Wrum on June 15, 1946, in Portland, Ore.
He served in the Army during World War II, and participated in the Normandy Landing on June 6, 1944, and was honorably discharged in 1945.
Mr. Brase was a truck driver and lumberman at Lucky Lager and Totem Building Supplies in Vancouver, Wash. He retired in 1978 and moved to Jefferson County in 1989.
He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Walter and Edward, both of Vancouver; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Emil, in 1989.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Christ the King Lutheran Church.
Mary Marts
Mary Jean Marts, 48, of Bremerton died July 16, 2001, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
She was born Feb. 26, 1953, in San Diego to Delferd and Darlene (Begley) Johnson. She graduated in 1972 from South Kitsap High School and in 1974 from Cinderella Beauty School in Bremerton.
She was a Christian.
Survivors include her parents; two sons, Shaun and Shane Drake, both of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, DeAnna of Spokane; and a sister, Joanne Ryan of Bremerton.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Paul Ganalon
Paul A. Ganalon Sr., 90, of Port Orchard died July 17, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born May 25, 1911, in Bacnotan La Union, Philippines, to Simon and Marcela (Almoite) Ganalon.
He married
Lillian Ruales on Oct. 19, 1965, in the Philippines.
Mr. Ganalon was a welder at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 18 years.
He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Paul Jr. and Egmedio Bucat, both of Bainbridge Island; two daughters, Geralyn Gibson of Seattle and Helen Ulloa of Bainbridge Island; two sisters, Victorina Calo and Gavina Almojuela, both of the Philippines; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A rosary will be said afterward. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery.
Winnie Moe
Winona "Winnie" Moe, 77, of Bremerton died July 10, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born May 13, 1924, in Manchester, N.H., to Paul and Anna (McKinley) Angelo. She graduated from Central Kitsap High School.
She married
Charles G. Moe Jr. on Sept. 1, 1940, in Bremerton. He preceded her in death in 1982.
She was a homemaker, and enjoyed gardening and playing bingo.
Survivors include a son, Larry of Silverdale; two daughters, Roxanne Miller and Sally Drake, both of Bremerton; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Angelo; a grandson, Mark Miller II; a great-granddaughter, Tylyn Miller; and a great-grandson, Blaide Miller.
A celebration of her life will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Kitsap Lake Mobile Home Park Community Center, 6201 Price Road in Bremerton. Cremation with private inurnment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
