Lewis Connolly
Lewis S. Connolly, 80, of Gig Harbor died June 16, 2001, in Gig Harbor.
He was born July 5, 1920, in LeGrande, Ore., to Charles Connolly and Agnes Denton (Bidler). He graduated in 1938 from Sacramento High School and in 1942 from Sacramento University.
He married
Frances Stevens on July 31, 1949, in Carson City, Nev.
He served in the Navy from 1942 to 1946. He received an award from President Jimmy Carter and a commendation for two tools he invented for use on submarines.
He later was an aircraft inspector and a finance officer.
He was a member of the Tacoma Elks 174 and the National Rifle Association.
He was a Lutheran.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary of Auburn, Calif.; a daughter, Lynn Stewart of Truckee, Calif.; one brother; five sisters; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Wednesday. Arrangements were under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Jewel Quisenberry
Jewel C. Quisenberry, 97, of Port Orchard died June 19, 2001, at Port Orchard Care Center.
She was born March 20, 1904, in Batesville, Ark., to Frank and Nola (Hamer) Salkeld.
She married
her husband of 65 years, Edward, in 1926 in Kansas. He preceded her in death in 1991.
She was a nurse, retiring in 1977.
She enjoyed oil painting and was a member of the Santa Monica Art Association.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue Paulson of Bellevue; four sons, Edward of Tacoma, John of Seabeck, William of Port Orchard and Ed Zaremba of Hotchkiss, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by 13 siblings and a grandson, Dan.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, followed by a 1 p.m. funeral, all at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Entombment will be at Miller-Woodlawn cemetery.
Donald Beck
Donald W. Beck, 77, of Seabeck died June 16, 2001, at home.
He was born April 16, 1924, in Santa Barbara, Calif., to Charles and Evelyn (Miles) Beck. He graduated in 1941 from South Kitsap High School.
He served in the Navy from 1941 to 1945 as a signalman first class. He participated in the Normandy invasion.
He later was a carpenter and planner-estimator at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He retired in 1982.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include two sons, Michael of Belfair and Allen of Maryland; a daughter, Audrey Walter of Seabeck; a sister, Marjorie Singer of Bremerton; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Laura J. (Black) Beck, in 1992.
A memorial reception will be held later.
Katolly Fowler
Katolly Jane Fowler, 24, of Silverdale died following a long illness June 17, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born May 9, 1977, in Martinez, Calif., to Wade and Susan (Whitford) Goehner. She was a 1995 graduate of Olympic High School.
She enjoyed music and her teddy bear collection.
Survivors include her fiance, Trey Haws of Houston; her parents of Silverdale; a brother, Rick of Port Orchard; a sister, Lori Smith of Lockeford, Calif.; and grandparents, Doc and Pauline Whitford of Galt, Calif., and Curt and Darlene Goehner of Jamestown, N.D.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Cremation is under the direction of Cherry Grove Memorial Park.
Alice Bower
Alice L. Bower, 90, of Bremerton died June 15, 2001, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Jan. 31, 1911, in Sutton's Bay, Mich., to Andrew and Anna (Olson) Anderson. She graduated in 1929 from Oakville High School in Oakville, Wash.
She married
Richard Bower on April 20, 1937, in Bremerton. He preceded her in death in 1978.
She was a homemaker.
She enjoyed hiking and camping. She was a Lutheran.
Mrs. Bower is survived by a son, Stephen of Bremerton. She also was preceded in death by a son, Joseph in 1981; and a daughter, Gretchen, in 1995.
Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Robert Miller
Robert S. Miller, 86, of Bremerton died of cancer June 12, 2001, in Bremerton.
He was born Feb. 7, 1915, in Philadelphia to Allen and Elizabeth (Stoecker) Miller. He was a 1933 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Seattle and a 1938 graduate of the University of Washington.
He married
Evelyn Sullivan on Nov. 17, 1943, in Camp Davis, N.C. She preceded him in death in 1995.
Mr. Miller served in the Army from 1940 to 1947.
He was an engineer, working primarily with The Boeing Co. While in semi-retirement, he continued his engineering career in Yakima.
Mr. Miller was a Boy Scouts volunteer in Yakima and enjoyed helping others. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Belfair and Christ Lutheran Church in Yakima.
He is survived by a daughter, Beth Schiffman of Bremerton; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church, 3701 NE North Shore Road in Belfair. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel with cremation at Cherry Grove Memorial Park and inurnment at Acacia cemetery in Seattle.

Dick Kolegraf
Richard "Dick" Kolegraf, 77, of Bremerton died of complications of diabetes June 16, 2001, at his home.
He was born Sept. 6, 1923, in Hope, N.D., to Theodore and Irene (Lautwe) Kolegraf. He attended school in Hope.
Mr. Kolegraf served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He married
Vera Jean Lock on Aug. 22, 1952, in Seattle.
Mr. Kolegraf was a machinist and mechanical engineering technician for many years. He retired in 1977.
He enjoyed computer games and RV travel. He was a member of Sylvan Way Baptist Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Kent of Belfair; a daughter, Lee Ann of Bremerton; two brothers, Theodore of Fargo, N.D., and James of Sharon, Pa.; three sisters, Eileen Polhamus of Seattle, Corrinne Crofutt of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Gwendolyn Barth of Yakima; and four step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant brother; and a sister, Elva.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Sylvan Way Baptist Church. A reception will follow. Mr. Kolegraf's body was donated to the University of Washington Medical School for research.

Mary Taylor
Mary Leona Taylor, 66, of Bremerton died June 15, 2001, in Bremerton.
She was born March 20, 1935, to James and Eliza (Gray) Pharr. She graduated from Bremerton High School and Olympic College.
She worked for the Washington Department of Social and Health Services for 26 years, retiring in 1993.
She enjoyed reading and community service. She was a member of Sinclair Missionary Baptist Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include her mother; a son, Crawford Taylor of Hot Springs, Ark.; four daughters, Sandra Jackson of Seattle, Lyndia Bolden of Yuma, Ariz., Barbara Johnson of Kent and Donna Sheats of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, James Pharr Jr. of Seattle and Calvin Pharr of Bremerton; four sisters, Eliza Taylor, Ruby Morgan, Patricia Francis and Hilda Houston, all of Bremerton; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert; and a sister, Marguerite Bosley.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A graveside service at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Christy Johnson
Christy R. Johnson, 45, of Poulsbo died June 15, 2001, in Bremerton.
She was born April 3, 1956, in Los Angeles to Doug and Helen (White) Caley. She was a 1974 graduate of San Pedro High School in San Pedro, Calif.
She married
Michael "Mike" Johnson on March 2, 1984, in San Pedro.
She enjoyed being a homemaker and raising dogs.
She was a Christian.
Survivors include her husband; her father and stepmother, Doug and Nelie; a stepson, Bo of Bainbridge Island; a stepdaughter, Amie of Bainbridge Island; three sisters, Terri Caley of Poulsbo, Jan Millan of Hemet, Calif., and Jolin Tyler of Eden Prairie, Minn.; and one grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, Beau Caley.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.

Amy Lind
Amy Merideth Lind, 43, of Poulsbo died of breast cancer May 24, 2001, at home.
She was born Dec. 13, 1957, in Detroit to Irving and Arlene (Finkel) Lind. She graduated from San Rafael High School in 1975. She also graduated from Humbodt State University in Arcata, Calif., and Bastyr Naturopathic College in Bothell.
She married
Bob Lucas in 1999 in Poulsbo.
She was a midwife and naturopathic physician. She was interested in natural healing and alternative medicine. She was Jewish.
Survivors include her husband; her parents; two daughters, Jessica and Mahalia, both of Mercer Island; a brother, Robert of California; and two sisters, Leslie of California and Victoria of New York City.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kitsap Cremation and Burial Society.

Viola Wilson
Viola M. Wilson, 77, of Bremerton died of cancer June 15, 2001, in Bremerton.
She was born Sept. 14, 1923, in Aberdeen, S.D., to John and Catherine (Dashel) Prouse. She was educated in Aberdeen.
She served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946.
She married
Guy Wilson on Jan. 4, 1947.
She worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for
31 years, retiring in 1981.
Mrs. Wilson was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Jim of Spokane; a daughter, Lori Crinean of Bremerton; a brother, John Prouse; three sisters, Genevieve Markus of Fresno, Calif., Irene Bryant of Vancouver, Wash., and Arlys Waitschick; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Leo, Richard and Donald; and two sisters, Elizabeth Tappe and Mary Ann Robinson.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
