Mrs.Nema Pearl Haymaker, Age:86, resident of Port Orchard, Washington died on February 26, 2002 after a long illness.
Nema was born on September 8, 1915 in Bolivar, Missouri to Walter and Cordia(Smith) Wells. She attended elementary school in Bolivar, and then the family moved in 1939 to Belfair, Washington.
Nema married
Francis Haymaker on July 20, 1940. She was a Homemaker all of her adult life.
Nema enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking and camping. She will be greatly missed.
Nema is survived by her husband, Francis, of the family home; sons, Richard of Lakewood, Washington, Eddie of Whidbey Island, Washington; daughters, Sue Jackson and Lonnie Foote of Yellville, Arkansas; brother, Richard Wells of Shelton, Washington; sister, Jolene Bevis of Shelton; eleven grandchildren fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Jensen, one grandchild, Collena Carr(2000)and one brother, Bud Wells.
A graveside service will be held at Twin Firs cemetery in Belfair, on Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at 1:00 p.m..

Gerald Edwin Menees
Born in Seattle, Washington on Aug. 27, 1918

Gerald Edwin Menees, 83, of Port Orchard, Washington, died 2 March 2002 in Bremerton, Washington. He was born in Seattle, Washington, 27 August 1918, son of Harley Benjamin Menees and Hazel Josephine Duclos Menees. He married
(1) Melba Marion Davis Wakefield, San Francisco, California, 30 October 1944, (2) Marjorie Dean Williams Calfee, Port Orchard, Washington, 19 April 1957.
Gerald grew up on Vashon Island, served in the United States Merchant Marine, Army and Navy, receiving his Navy discharge in 1946 with the rank of Chief Machinist Mate. He served in WWII in the Pacific arena aboard PT 23 and was stationed on Guadalcanal. After the war he was an independent trucker hauling freight in eleven western states as well as trips to the DEW line on the Great Slave Lake, Canada. After selling his truck, he sailed aboard ships of the Coast and Geodetic Survey for a number of years. Following his final retirement, he repaired marine engines on request.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Marjorie; four children, Timothy Ryan Menees, Philip Dean Menees, William Edwin Menees, and Mary Menees Gay; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melba, three children, Christine Louise, Michael James, and Gerald Dennis.
At his request there will be no services. His ashes will be scattered at sea.

David B. Bush

David B. Bush, 48, of Belfair, WA, died February 15, 2002, at his home.
David was born October 18, 1953, in Pendleton, OR, to Dean and Marge (Albee) Bush. In 1971, he graduated from Kennewick High School in Kennewick, WA. In 1977, David graduated from Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton and from Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR, in 1981.
David served in the United States Navy from 1972 to 1975 as a BM-3. He received a "Letter of Commendation For Meritorious Action" after saving the life of a fellow crew member who fell overboard off the ship.
On December 10, 1988, David married
Valerie Logue in Marquam, OR.
For the past 20 years, David has worked as an engineer at Mare Island in Vallejo, CA, and more recently at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, WA.
David is a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Belfair and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He enjoyed watching the Seattle Mariners and the OSU Beaver football team. He loved working around his home with his family and was known for giving 110% effort at any task he chose to undertake.
David is survived by his wife Valerie, of Belfair; son Nathan Bush and daughter Nicole Bush, both of Belfair; parents Dean and Marge Bush, of Hermiston, OR; brothers Larry Bush, of Salem, OR, and Randy Bush, of Hermiston.
Viewing will be held on Monday, February 18, from 12 noon to 5PM and Tuesday, February 19, from 9AM to 5PM at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, WA. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2002, at 11AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Belfair. Inurnment will be held at Willamette National cemetery in Portland, OR.
Richard L. Cordova
Born in Raton, New Mexico on Nov. 27, 1937

Richard L. Cordova, 64, of Port Orchard, Washington, died on February 16, 2002 at home from Multiple Myeloma. He was born November 27, 1937 in Raton, New Mexico to Emilio and Anne(Cardenas)Cordova. He was a 1955 graduate of Raton High School and attended New Mexico State College for three years. He joined the Air Force in 1959.
He was married
to Linda(Bowden)Cordova on October 7, 1961 in North Highlands, California, where they made their first home. His military career took them to Texas, California, North Dakota, Guam and Louisiana, until he retired in Port Orchard in July of 1979. He was a Radar Navigator for B52s.
He pursued a career as a computer analyst at Lyndon Corporation, Computer Science Center and retired from PWS two years ago. He was an active member of the Kitsap County Elks and a member of TROA of Kitsap County. He enjoyed the Elks Travel Club, camping with family and friends and his latest hobby of taking pictures.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Cordova; a son, Richard L. Cordova, Jr., and his wife, Michelle; two daughters, Ann Wilson and her husband, Ken; Tina Whitney and her husband, Daryl; six grandchildren-Lindsey, David, Carina, Alissa, Austin and Anita, all of Port Orchard; and a brother, Robert L. Cordova of Spokane, Washington.
A celebration of his life will be held at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard on Thursday, February 21, 2002, at 2:00PM. Donations may be made to the Hospice of Kitsap County, PO Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383.

Dessima Lois Weyer

Dessima Lois(Sutton)Weyer, 85, of Port Orchard, Washington, died on February 14, 2002. She was born on August 11, 1916 to Daniel Huston Sutton & SaBina Thurza Ireland in Baker, Oregon. She grew up in Baker with eight siblings. It was there that she met the love of her life, her husband, Percy Albert Weyer. They married
on December 18, 1933. They lived in Baker, Oregon and Nampa, Idaho most of their younger years, traveling wherever her husband, Percy, found work. Percy worked mostly on farms and ranches and Dess would work cooking for the ranch hands.
Moving often kept Dess painting, wallpapering, and fixing up every home she lived in to make it a batter place to raise her family. Her love for gardening always produced a beautiful array of flowers around her home.
Dess enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting, and held a special place in her heart when it came to animals. Her fondness for children led to her collection and making of dolls. She shared many of her talents and love of dolls with family and friends. Her collection of dolls reached over a thousand; small, large, old and new.
Dess' family is blessed by the time they shared with her, especially her cups of tea. All will surely miss her.
Her husband, Percy, preceded Dess in death. Her four sons and two daughters survive her. Sons include Norman A. Weyer of Naples, Idaho; Marvin G. Weyer of Grandview, Washington; Jack R. Weyer of Goldendale, Washington; and Donald A. Weyer of Grand Coulee, Washington; daughters, Shirley A. Ross and Nancy L. Brotzel both of Port Orchard; twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
The family will be sharing the Memorial Service for Dess with her husband, Percy Weyer, who passed October 10, 2000. The service will be held February 22, 2002, at 2:00 p.m., at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. The Reverend Larry Mead will be officiating. A reception will follow at the chapel's hospitality room.
Dessima and Percy's cremains will be taken to the Nampa, Idaho area at a later date by their daughter, Nancy(Weyer)Brotzel.

Norman Earl Rose
Born in Libby, Montana on Aug. 7, 1955

Norman Earl Rose died on February 16th, 2002 of heart failure at Swedish Ballard Hospital in Seattle, Washington, at the age of 46. His life was full with family, friends and his love of nature. His gentle loving spirit, extraordinary sense of humor, singing and guitar playing will be greatly missed.
He was born August 7, 1955 in Libby, Montana, the fifth child of Arthur and Emily Wemple Rose. Growing up in Montana, Norm developed his love of nature. He loved to hike in the woods, pick huckleberries and swim in the lakes. He graduated from Libby High School and later attended Bates Technical College and Clover Park Technical College in Tacoma, Washington. He worked for various lumber mills in Montana and Washington and for the last five years worked as a proud employee of Boeing, as a Maintenance Analyst.
Norm was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Norm is survived by his wife of twenty four years, Linda, daughters, Erin Tsuji, husband, Steve and daughter, Shayla and expected twins, Miriam Mesa and husband, Mike and daughter, Mahlia and expected grandson and son, Jonathan Rose. He is also survived by his mother Emily Rose and siblings: Gerry Rose, Peggy Brothers, Sylvia Rose-Johnson, Becky Beimler, Mark Rose and Bill Rose as well as numerous relatives.
Norm lived life with a sense of humor and expressed himself best through his photography, writing and his passion for singing and music. He sang with the Totemaires and Cantare Chorale. His love of God ran deep in his life and we will all remember his many gifts and talents and his absolute faith and trust in God.

Margaret A. Olson

Marge Olson, 64, of Olympia, WA, died February 19, 2002, in Little Rock, Arkansas at the Arkansas Cancer Research Center.
Marge was born February 20, 1937 in Greene County, Tennessee to Howard and Laura (Gass) Stroud. In her early years, she played basketball and worked as a nurse, bookbinder, and apartment manager.
On August 25, 1962, Marge married
Dean Olson. They lived in Seattle, California, Canada, and Hong Kong before settling in Alaska to raise a family. Marge was an accomplished interior designer in Anchorage for many years. After moving to Washington State, she applied her talents to "fixer homes" that she and Dean bought and resold, as well as to other private homes and apartments. Marge also belonged to the Ladies of the Lake Quilting Club in Hoodsport, WA. She was an avid quilter who applied her artistic creativity to quilts by using bold colors and unique patterns. Marge enjoyed sharing her quilts with her family and friends. She was also dedicated to helping raise her grandchildren, and regularly volunteered at a local elementary school to tutor children in reading.
Survivors include her husband Dean of Olympia, WA; son Anthony Greene of Everett, WA; daughters Dena Olson of Olympia, WA and Toska Olson of Tacoma, WA; sisters Janice Moore of Seattle, WA and Frances Hager of Kingsport, TN; two grandsons, a nephew, and a grandniece.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Sunday, March 3, 2002, 2:00PM at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, WA. Memorial donations in Marge's name can be made to the Arkansas Cancer Research Center, 4301 West Markham #721, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205 or to the literacy program of your choice.
Thomas R. Burns

Mr. Thomas R. Burns, Age: 68, died at his residence on February 24, 2002, from Amyothophic Lateral Sclerosis(ALS), also known as "Lou Gehrig's Disease.
Tom was born on May 25, 1933 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Felix P. Burns and Ruth(Brazeau)Burns. He graduated from high school in Eau Claire.
Tom joined the United States Army, serving honorably from 1950 to 1953. He achieved the rank of Sergeant. Tom was decorated with a Purple Heart during the Korean Conflict.
Following his tour of service in the military, Tom attended the University of Wisconsin, and then attended the University of Washington in Seattle. He received his college degree. He married
Barbara J.(Geil)Burns on May 19, 1984 in Tampa, Florida.
Tom worked in Naval Telecommunications at Subase Bangor, Washington and also in Japan. He served as a Reserve Deputy with the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office for numerous years. He later became a computer software engineer with Andrulis Computers, Inc., and Bobcat Computers Inc..
Tom was a member of the American Legion in Port Orchard, the D.A.V.(Disabled American Veterans) in Bremerton, Washington, the V.F.W.(Veteran's of Foreign Wars) in Port Orchard, the Eagles Arie of Port Orchard, and was a member of the Roman Catholic faith. He greatly enjoyed fishing and boating.
Tom is survived by his wife, Barbara, of the family home; his mother, Edith Burns of Duluth, Minnesota; sons, Christopher of Spokane, Washington and Barry of Bellingham, Washington; daughters Becky Quetschke of Albany, Oregon and Merry Stever of Port Orchard; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Chuck and William Burns.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 1, 2002 at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church, 1150 Mitchell Avenue, Port Orchard.
Father Jerry McCloskey will be officiating. A reception will follow at Rill Chapel. Interment
is scheduled at Saint Patrick's cemetery in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on March 1, 2002.

Mr. Harold Walker Hoak, Age: 90, died of Coronary Artery Disease on February 21, 2002 while at the family's winter residence in Desert Hot Springs, California.
Harold was born on July 29, 1911 in Attica, Kansas to Harry W. and Jennie(Coe)Hoak. On October 17, 1980 Harold married
Rosemary Parkhurst Troy Pearsall in Moses Lake, Washington.
He spent the next seventy seven years as a farmer. He had a farm in South Kitsap on the old "Holman Homestead" for twenty five years. He then moved to Moses Lake where he farmed until he retired in 1992.
Mr. Hoak truly enjoyed gardening and loved growing flowers. He was particularly fond of roses.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; son, Robert Hoak of Kennewick, Washington; step-son, Gene Troy of Afton, Wyoming; daughters, Carolyn Winter of Moses Lake, and Gladys Alfano of Spokane, Washington; a step-daughter, Kay Harlan-Friedman of Tacoma, Washington; sisters, Helen Wilson of Escondido, California, and Gladys Ingram of Fallbrook, California; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carrie Hoak in 1979, and a son, Howard Hoak in 1993.
Visitation for Mr. Hoak is scheduled at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, Washington on Wednesday, February 27, 2002 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.. A graveside memorial is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 27, 2002, at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard. There will also be a memorial service at Lakeview Missionary Church in Moses Lake, Washington on Saturday, March 2, 2002 at 2:00 p.m..
