Daniel Culley
Daniel Culley, 75, of Port Orchard died following a long illness June 9, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Aug. 14, 1925, in Northeast, Md., to George and Mary (Bryan) Culley. He graduated in 1942 from high school in Northeast.
Mr. Culley served in the Navy from 1942 to 1948, achieving the rank of boatswain's mate second class.
He married Dorothy Smith on June 7, 1947, in Bremerton.
Mr. Culley was a flange turner at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 28 years, retiring in 1973.
He was active in youth baseball and scouting and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Aaron of Redmond, Brant of Federal Way and Gordon of Holliston, Mass.; three daughters, Dorothy White of Port Orchard, Heather Wroe of Tacoma and Hollie Geimer of Port Hadlock; a brother, Rodney of Delaware; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel; 10 brothers; and one sister.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Hoover Avenue in Port Orchard. Entombment will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Dorothy Rauenzahn
Dorothy Mae Rauenzahn, 96, of Silverdale died June 9, 2001, in Bremerton.
She was born Feb. 20, 1905, in Seattle to Charles and Addie (MacLean) Baxter. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle and attended the University of Washington.
She married Lt. Col. Daniel Rauenzahn. He preceded her in death in 1979.
Mrs. Rauenzahn was a 60-year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and enjoyed traveling.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Jonasson on Friday; and three brothers, Kenneth, Faris and Gordon Baxter.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Port Madison Lutheran Church on Bainbridge Island. For directions, call the church at (206) 842-4746. Inurnment will be at Evergreen-Washelli in Seattle. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Maxine Jonasson
Maxine Louise Jonasson, 86, of Silverdale died June 8, 2001, in Poulsbo.
She was born March 14, 1915, in Seattle to Charles and Addie (MacLean) Baxter. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle and attended the University of Washington.
She married Carl William Jonasson in Seattle. He preceded her in death in 1963.
Mrs. Jonasson was a homemaker and had been a medical office manager.
She enjoyed hiking and volunteering with the Central Kitsap Food Bank. She was a member of Port Madison Lutheran Church on Bainbridge Island.
Survivors include two sons, Gordon of Bloomington, Minn., and Richard of Darrington; a daughter, Carol Gantz of Lyons, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Faris and Gordon Baxter. Her sister, Dorothy Rauenzahn, died Saturday.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Port Madison Lutheran Church on Bainbridge Island, followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service, also at the church. For directions, call (206) 842-4746. Inurnment will be at Evergreen-Washelli in Seattle. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Noreen Stickels
Noreen C. Stickels, 70, of Suquamish died June 10, 2001, in Bremerton.
She was born Oct. 22, 1930, in Seattle to Ivan and Anne (Cristie) Kirkham. She graduated from Ballard High School in Seattle.
She married James Henry Stickels on June 19, 1948, in Seattle.
Mrs. Stickels was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting and sewing.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Kirk of Sitka, Alaska; a daughter, Kathleen Anastasiadis of Federal Way; a brother, Timothy Kirkham of Gibson's Landing, British Columbia; and three grandchildren.
At the family's request, no service is planned. Cremation is under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove.

Ellen Helland
Ellen Helland, 93, of Olalla died June 8, 2001, at Ridgemont Terrace.
She was born June 23, 1907, in Langley to Walter and Alice (Howard) Hunziker. She graduated from Langley High School in 1923 and completed two years of college in Bellingham.
She married Theodore Helland on Nov. 5, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1975.
She was a member of TOPS and Neighbor Needlers.
Survivors include three sons, Gerald Kent of Shelton, Dale Helland of North Bend, Ore., and Robert Helland of Olalla; a daughter, Madeline Shaffer of Sherman Oaks, Calif; three sisters, Winnie Shelton of Coupeville, Margaret Bolin of Seattle and Gladys Brandt of Seattle; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She also was preceded in death by a son, Walter Kent; a sister, Alice Oldenberg; and a brother, Walter Hunziker.

Constance Rose
Constance Sue Rose, 35, of Vancouver, Wash., died of cardiomyopathy and amyloid May 15, 2001, at Oregon Health and Science University Hospital.
She was born Feb. 9, 1966, in Vancouver to Joseph Burdick and Marjorie McFarlane. She attended school in Battleground and Belfair.
She married Terry Rose on May 20, 2000.
She was a waitress. She enjoyed flowers and collected angels.
Survivors include her husband; her mother and stepfather, Marjorie and Rickey McFarlane of Port Orchard; her father, Joseph Burdick of Vancouver; a son, Christopher Posthumus of Vancouver; a daughter, Sharon Matney of Vancouver; a stepson, Kolbie Rose of Vancouver; a stepdaughter, Kailahnie Rose of Vancouver; a brother, Daniel Pisauro Jr. of Breauxbridge, La.; three sisters, Jaime Straws of Federal Way, Angela McFarlane of Allyn and Nikki McFarlane of Milton; grandparents, Jean Zoller of Vancouver, Thomas and Irene Gariepy of Detroit and Natalie Blue of Ridgefield.
Memorial donations may be made to her two children at any Washington Mutual Branch.

Catherine Coffield
Catherine Elma Coffield, 92, of Seabeck died June 7, 2001, at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Sept. 5, 1908, in Jeffersonville, Ind., to Edgar and Elma (Parker) Williams. She graduated in 1927 from Jeffersonville High School and in 1930 from Kentucky Baptist Hospital School of Nursing.
She married Joseph Coffield on July 17, 1943. He preceded her in death in 1974.
She served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps from 1942 to 1943.
She later was a registered nurse for 40 years, retiring in 1975.
She was an Episcopalian.
Survivors include two daughters, Fran Decker of Colorado Springs and Marilyn Osborn of Seabeck; and four grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
She requested no service. Interment icon will take place at Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany, Ind. Local arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Ruth Morgan
Ruth I. Morgan, 90, of Port Orchard died June 10, 2001, at Ridgemont Terrace.
She was born June 7, 1911, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, to Charles and Maude (Farwell) Huffman. She graduated in 1929 from Belle Plaine High School.
She worked in retail and later worked for several doctors' offices.
She enjoyed gardening and sewing. She was a Christian.
Survivors include a son, Glenn of Port Orchard; a brother, Charles "Bud" Huffman of California; a sister, Violet Stokely of California; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn.
Private family services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Ena Ervin
Ena C. Ervin, 94, of Indianola died June 10, 2001, at Messenger House.
She was born April 9, 1907, in Harrison, Ark., to Grover and Gertrude (Pope) Cochran.
She was a teacher and a homemaker.
She enjoyed reading. She was a Protestant.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Loughrey of Indianola; four brothers, Jack Cochran of Grand View, Horace Cochran of Torrance, Calif., Elbert Cochran of Garrison, Ark., and Andrew Cochran of California; two sisters, Ina Fae Lasky and Esther May Adams, both of California; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She requested no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Kass Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island.

Thomas Flanick
Thomas Junior Flanick, 41, of Tacoma died June 7, 2001, in Tacoma.
He was born March 11, 1960, in Great Falls, Mont., to Thomas Flanick and Barbara Kinnunen. He graduated in 1978 from Central Kitsap High School.
He was a commercial fisherman. He enjoyed playing the guitar and drums. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include his parents, Thomas Flanick of Port Orchard and Barbara Kinnunen of Butte, Mont.; and two brothers, Rick of Port Orchard and Robert of Bremerton.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Interment icon will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Frances Deets
Frances K. Deets, 85, of Poulsbo died June 7, 2001, in Poulsbo.
She was born Sept. 11, 1915, in Chicago to Anton and Katherina (Neubauer) Mantz.
She married Howard Deets on Dec. 5, 1945, in Ohio.
She was a homemaker, and enjoyed reading and church activities.
Survivors include a son, Tony of Poulsbo; two sisters, Katherine Hitchcock and Elizabeth Mantz, both of
Columbus, Ohio; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, George Mantz and Anton Mantz Jr.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at East Side Presbyterian Church in South Dakota. Interment icon will be at Hills of Rest Memorial Park in Sioux Falls, S.D. Local arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Jack Cryder
Jack Willard Cryder, 52, of Olalla died of complications from heart surgery June 9, 2001, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma.
He was born Feb. 8, 1949, to Dean and Jean (Johnson) Cryder in Erie, Pa.
He graduated from Northwestern High School in Albion, Pa.
He won Navy and Marine Corps medals and was awarded a Purple Heart for actions during his service in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969. He was a lance corporal at discharge.
On Jan. 2, 1972, he married Helen Gibbons in Garden Grove, Calif.
Mr. Cryder enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and his animals. He was a Methodist.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Daniel Dean Deforest of Port Orchard; a daughter, Sarah Jane Wiles of Port Orchard; his father, Dean of Geneva, Ohio; three brothers Jody Dean, Jeffrey Robert and Gregory Mark, all of Port Orchard; a sister, Jill Marie Hall of Tucson, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jan Melissa Cryder; and a grandson, Caleb Nicholas Wiles.
Funeral services are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rill Chapel. Interment icon will be at Sunset Lane cemetery.
