Joe Troy Bundy
Joe Troy Bundy, 70, of Poulsbo, died May 22, 2001 at his home.
He was born June 7, 1930 in Rush, Ark. to James and Maude (Setzer) Bundy.
Mr. Bundy was in the Navy for more than 27 years, serving during the Korean and Vietnam wars.
He also worked as a crane operator at Naval Submarine Base Bangor.
He is survived by his son, Michael of Seattle; daughters Karen of Maryland, Roxanne and Jessica, both of Seattle, and Amanda of Poulsbo; one brother; and one sister.
There will be a private family service at Haven of Rest Funeral & cemetery in Gig Harbor.
Evelyn Hansen
Evelyn D. Hansen, 72, of Port Orchard died May 23, 2001, at Stafford Suites in Port Orchard.
She was born Oct. 13, 1928, in Spooner, Wis., to Joseph and Theresa (Melchart) Jellen. She graduated from high school in Spooner in 1946.
She married
William H. Hansen. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Mrs. Hansen worked for 30 years at the Washington Veterans Home in Retsil.
She was a member of the Gig Harbor Elks and Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include a son, William of Port Orchard; two daughters, Yvonne Golnik of Olalla and Veronica Saunders of Bow; a brother, Frank Jellen of Spooner; a sister, Elenore Eichstaedt of Sonoma, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Edwards.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, and a Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Interment will be at Fraola cemetery in Olalla. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Allan Christianson
Allan William Christianson, 85, of Port Orchard died May 23, 2001, at Orchard Pointe in Port Orchard.
He was born July 17, 1915, in Lowell, Mass., to Carl and Borghild (Swenson) Christianson.
He married
Erma Wright.
Mr. Christianson had worked as a cost analyst in the aerospace industry.
He had been active in churches while living in Woodland, Calif., and Laguna Hills, Calif. He was a member of Port Orchard Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert of Port Orchard; a daughter, Jo Ann Childers of Kennewick; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Port Orchard Church of Christ.
Mary Ann (McDonald) Hodge
Former Bremerton resident Mary Ann (McDonald) Hodge, 65, of Shelton died of heart failure May 11, 2001, at Madigan Army Hospital in Tacoma.
She was born June 1, 1935, in Spokane to Allen and Myrtle (Olson) McDonald. She graduated from Bremerton High School.
She married
Lloyd Hodge on March 21, 1955, in Bremerton.
Mrs. Hodge had been a volunteer with Headstart.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Guy of Centralia, David of Seattle and Austin of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter, Kimberly of Shelton; a brother, Allen McDonald Jr. of Bremerton; and numerous grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary.
A memorial service was May 15 at Hope Chapel in Shelton. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to Headstart.
Hazel Grass
Hazel Lovelia Grass, 91, of Bremerton died May 24, 2001, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center.
She was born Aug. 6, 1909, in Starbuck, Minn., to Victor and Edith (Jones) Wesen.
She married
Perry "Shorty" Grass in Bremerton in 1954. He preceded her in death in 1974.
Mrs. Grass was a homemaker. She was active in the American Legion and enjoyed playing bingo.
Survivors include sons, Ralph, Edward and Robert Henneman, all of Bremerton, Larry Grass of Rapid City, S.D., and Dale Grass of Chicago; a daughter, Edythe Irene Hambrick of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Henneman, a daughter, Evelyn Holt, and three sisters.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Tuesday with a procession to Forest Lawn cemetery for burial.
Rick Thaves
Former Port Orchard resident Rick Thaves, 40, of Tacoma died of an aneurysm May 23, 2001, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
He was born Aug. 5, 1960, in Seattle, to Lonny and Evelyn (Risdal) Thaves. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1979.
He married
JoAnne Ayers Topas on Sept. 4, 1999, in Bremerton.
Mr. Thaves served in the Army from 1980 to 1985, achieving the rank of specialist fourth class. He received a Good Conduct Medal and a medal for expert riflery.
He worked as a paint tinter with The Boeing Co. for 10 years.
Mr. Thaves enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife; his mother and stepfather, Evelyn and Darrell Wylie of Port Orchard; his father of Federal Way; a son, Derick of Louisiana; a daughter, Katrina of Tacoma; and two sisters, Joline Decker of Edgewood and Robin Mikkola of LaCenter, Ky. He was preceded in death by a stepfather, Len Case.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Temple, 2814 Trenton Ave. in Bremerton. A gathering to celebrate Rick's life will follow the memorial service at his mother's home in Port Orchard.
Martha Dreher
Martha L. Dreher, 87, of Bremerton died of pneumonia May 22, 2001, in Bremerton.
She was born Jan. 31, 1914, in St. Paul, Minn., to William and Ellen (Mase) Stille. She graduated from Harding High School in St. Paul in 1932 and from Rasmussen Business College, also in St. Paul, in 1943.
She married
Alfred B. Dreher on June 27, 1941, in Port Deposit, Md.
Mrs. Dreher was a member of the International Porcelain Art Teachers Association and the Children's Hospital Orthopedic Guild.
She is survived by her husband; and a brother, William Stille of North Branch, Minn.
Visitation is scheduled for 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service today at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. Interment
will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Elsie Severson
Former Silverdale resident Elsie Pauline Severson, 86, of Hemet, Calif., died May 15, 2001, in Hemet.
She was born Feb. 2, 1915, in Listie, Pa., to George and Mary (Frankenstein) Herchenroder.
She married
Keith Fox on July 20, 1933, in Keokuk, Iowa. She later married
Randolph "Skip" Severson on Sept. 12, 1962. He preceded her in death in December.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Macomb, Ill.
Survivors include four daughters, Kathyrn Huston of Good Hope, Ill., Carol Schulte of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Marilyn Cole of Los Angeles and Beverly Jane Ortiz of Hemet; four sons, Dean Fox of Madison, Kan., George Fox of Rison, Ariz., James Fox of Glendora, Calif., and Kenneth Fox of Caldwell, Idaho; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by six sisters, four brothers and three grandsons.
A private family memorial service will be held in Silverdale at a later date.

Judy Olson
Judy Lee Olson, 54, of Port Orchard died May 18, 2001, at home.
She was born Nov. 29, 1946, in Bremerton to Robert and Mildred (Jones) Olson. She graduated from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard.
She enjoyed horses and reading.
Survivors include her father of Bremerton; a son, Scott Borcherding of Bremerton; a brother, Michael of Fairbanks, Alaska; two sisters, Midge Ollenburger of Bremerton and Bobbe Daugherty of Silverdale; and two grandchildren.
A gathering for family and friends will be from 1 to 4 p.m. today at 9235 Cascade Place NW in Silverdale. Cremation is by Cherry Grove Crematory with inurnment at Forest Lawn cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Brian Coates
Brian Coates, 58, of Seattle died May 15, 2001, at home.
He was born July 22, 1942, in Seattle to Paul and Hazel (Hicks) Coates. He graduated in 1960 from South Kitsap High School, in 1965 from Stanford University and in 1970 from the University of Minnesota.
He married
Anne Ryan on Jan. 2, 1962.
He was a professor at the University of North Carolina, Washington State University and an energy analyst for Seattle City Light for 30 years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and golfing.
Survivors include his wife; his mother of Southworth; a daughter, Carin Myers of Seattle; and two brothers, Norman of Sumner and Dennis of Southworth.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fauntleroy Congregation Church in West Seattle.
Patricia Johnson
Patricia May Johnson, 81, of Port Orchard died of heart failure May 20, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Jan. 22, 1920, in Seattle to Ralph and Tessora (Brown) Douglas. She was a 1938 graduate of West Seattle High School.
She married
Ransome A. Johnson in Seattle. He preceded her in death in 1987.
Mrs. Johnson had been a caregiver at Martha & Mary Health Care Center in Poulsbo. She also was a volunteer.
She enjoyed collecting dolls and making latch-hook rugs.
Survivors include three sons, Ron of Port Orchard, Wayne Boivin of Bremerton and Don Boivin of San Jose, Calif.; a brother, Cal Douglas of Florida; a sister, Ann Furlan of Seattle; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a son, Mike Boivin.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel with cremation at Cherry Grove Crematory in Poulsbo and inurnment at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton.

Nita Gilbert
Juanita "Nita" Gilbert, 80, a longtime resident of Kitsap and Pierce counties, died May 22, 2001, in Tacoma.
She was born Feb. 28, 1921, in Washington to Frank and Naomi (Rowe) Russell.
She was a teacher's aide at Port Orchard Elementary School. Mrs. Gilbert was a member of the Port Orchard Eagles.
Survivors include two sons, William "Bill" of Port Orchard and Ted of Albuquerque, N.M.; three daughters, Patricia Mills of Olympia, Beverly "Sindy" Winsett of Sunnyslope and Nancy "Dee" Danielson of Puyallup; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William R.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Haven of Rest Funeral Home in Gig Harbor. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, also at Haven of Rest, with interment at Haven of Rest Memorial Park.
