Vivian Morrow
Former Bremerton resident Vivian Morrow, 87, of Bellingham died May 21, 2001, at her home.
She was born Dec. 18, 1913, in Sepulpa, Okla., to Elam and Nora (Wilson) Gray. She graduated in 1930 from Burke Burnette High School in Burke Burnette, Texas.
She married
Glenn Morrow on April 11, 1939, in Hobbs, N.M. He preceded her in death in 1984.
Mrs. Morrow was a homemaker. She had been active with the Church of The Nazarene and was a member of Lincoln Avenue Bible Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include a son, Mark of Bow-Edison; a daughter, Pam Foley of Temecula; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Vinita Owens.
Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel, followed by an 11 a.m. memorial service at Lincoln Avenue Bible Church, 1250 Lincoln Ave. Interment
will be private at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton.
Dorothy Carlyle
Dorothy E. Carlyle, 73, of Bremerton died of natural causes May 20, 2001, at her home.
She was born Dec. 17, 1927, in Ellensburg to Grant and Anna Nichols. She graduated from Ellensburg High School.
She sold real estate for 30 years. She enjoyed reading and gardening.
She is survived by a son, William Tavis of Bremerton; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at 2255 NE Riddell Road in Bremerton. Arrangements are under the direction of Kitsap Cremation and Burial Society.

Allan Wainwright
Allan H. Wainwright, 66, of Seabeck died May 19, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Jan. 13, 1935, in Providence, R.I., to Edward and Ada (Mabey) Wainwright. He graduated in 1953 from Walla Walla High School and attended Washington State University.
He served in the Marines from 1954 to 1956., achieving the rank of corporal.
He married
Mary E. Upham on June 12, 1960, in Tieton, Wash.
He worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 30 years, initially as an administrative assistant and then as a welder. He retired in 1990.
He was a former volunteer firefighter in Port Townsend and enjoyed the outdoors.
He attended Christian Life Center in Port Orchard.
He is survived by his wife; his mother of Port Townsend; a son, Scott of Belfair; a daughter, Michele Wainwright of Manchester; a brother Gordon of Monterey, Calif.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Millie Sylvester
Mildred "Millie" Sylvester, 69, of Port Orchard died following a lengthy illness May 16, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Oct. 15, 1931, in Juneau, Alaska, and received her education there.
She married
Robert Sylvester on June 4, 1970, in Port Orchard.
She was a ward messenger at Harrison Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1998.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints in Port Orchard.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Randy of New Iberia, La.; two daughters, Cheryl Larson and Cindy Streutker, both of Port Orchard; two brothers, Casey Harris of Portland, Ore., and Johnny Harris of Alaska; two sisters, Debbie Harris of Alaska and Bunny Tanner of Hoquiam; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Freddy and Robert; and two sisters, Margaret and Martha.
A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Port Orchard. Interment
will be at Sunset Lane cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Bruce Ashby
Bruce A. Ashby, 70, of Port Orchard died May 11, 2001, in Port Orchard.
He was born July 22, 1930, in Hover to Rex and Martha (Olson) Ashby.
He served in the military during World War II.
He married
Bobbie R. Templin on Sept. 17, 1966, in Las Vegas.
He was a mechanical engineer for 10 years at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1995.
He enjoyed archery and hunting and was a member of K.B.H. Archery Club in Belfair.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Scott of San Clemente, Calif.; two daughters, Pam Finer of Fremont, Calif., and Wendy Salazar of Anaheim, Calif.; a brother, David of Kennewick; six sisters, Betty Langton of Bremerton, Margaret Gilmore of Sprague, Ellen Nunn of Spokane, Shirley Stub of Vacaville, Calif., Thelma Ervin of Chicago, and Rosemary Kinsfather of Redondo Beach, Calif. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nina Livingston.
A gathering of family and friends will be at 7 p.m. today at the K.B.H. Archery Club in Belfair.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendelton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Robert Pry
Robert Dale Pry, 55, of Bremerton died May 15, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born May 21, 1945, in Bremerton to Roy and Elsie (Roby) Pry.
Mr. Pry served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
He worked for the Annapolis Water District.
He was a member of Odd Fellows 145 in Bremerton.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly (Douglas) Pry; his mother, Elsie Irene Burgett of Port Orchard; a son, Robert of Bremerton; three daughters, Diana Johnson of Goldendale and Suzette Hudson and Dawn Brooks, both of Bremerton; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A graveside memorial service was held Monday at Haven of Rest Memorial Park in Gig Harbor.

Idabelle Zickefoose
Idabelle M. Zickefoose, 86, of Bremerton died May 12, 2001, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
She was born Feb. 28, 1915, in Spokane to Morris and Frances (Ehrlich) Harehfeld. She graduated in 1933 from Phillipsburg High School in Phillipsburg, Mont.
She was a city bus driver in Spokane and had a variety of occupations while in Bremerton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford, in 1987.
Private services will be held in Missoula.
Charles Silhavy
Charles F. Silhavy, 89, of Bremerton died May 19, 2001, in Bremerton.
He was born Sept. 17, 1911, in Wagner, S.D., and graduated in 1930 from Yankton High School in Yankton, S.D.
He married
Elizabeth Rohde on March 1, 1938, in Stevenson.
He was an electrician at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 30 years, retiring in 1970.
Mr. Silhavy enjoyed fishing and outdoor activities and was a member of Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Janice Tonge of Port Orchard, Kathleen Shumaker of Belfair and Cherie Ballew of Leavenworth; a sister, Vera Hulbert of Canby, Ore.; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlene Dotson; and a brother, Frank.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. today at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Visitation will be held before the Mass. Interment
will be at Evergreen Memorial in McMinnville, Ore. Local arrangements are by Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul or a charity of the donor's choice.
Elsie Goodlund
Elsie E. Goodlund, 90, of Kingston died May 17, 2001, in Kingston.
She was born Oct. 1, 1910, in Auburn to Oscar and Ellen (Wennergren) Blomeen. She graduated from Auburn High School.
She married
Eugene Goodlund on May 10, 1952, in Seattle.
She was an accountant and a homemaker. She was a member of the Kingston Garden Club, Children's Orthopedic Hospital Guild and Kingston Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Thomas P. Cole of Oak Harbor; a daughter, Leighann Blomeen of Kingston; a brother, Nels Blomeen of Belfair; a sister, Lela Long of Belfair; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kingston Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
Martin Van Soest
Martin John Van Soest, 84, of Port Orchard died of cancer May 20, 2001, at Ridgemont Terrace.
He was born April 16, 1917, in Emmons County, N.D., to John and Agnes (Nieuwsma) Van Soest.
He married
Dorothy Jaeger on Feb. 1, 1944. She preceded him in death in 1965. He then married
Edna Anderson in 1968. She died in 1999.
He served in the Army from 1940 to 1945, earning the Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Van Soest was a galvanizer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 20 years, retiring in 1973. He then dairy farmed for 10 years.
He enjoyed vegetable gardening, serving others and was a member of Harper Evangelical Free Church in Southworth.
Survivors include six daughters, Sharon Mullins and Eileen Podraza, both of Port Orchard, Lennie Anderson of Lakewood, Marlene Yurg of Gig Harbor, Connie Hallis and Kathy Anderson; a son, Leon Martinsen; a sister, Alice DeBoer of Linton, N.D.; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Heine of Strasburg, N.D.; and a sister, Anna Glaser of Lodi, Calif.
Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Harper Evangelical Free Church with a funeral service immediately following. Interment
will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Anna Shannon
Anna K. Shannon, 65, of Belfair died May 20, 2001, in Port Orchard.
She was born in Bad Hersfeld, Germany, to Karl and Johanne (Hampe) Gerwig. She was educated in Germany.
She married
John Shannon in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Hans Gerwig of Garland, Texas; a daughter, Kathleen Wymer of Belfair; a brother, Peter Gerwig of Germany; a sister, Hannelore Webb of Gig Harbor; and a granddaughter, Karli Gerwig.
A graveside service and interment will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
