James Eoff
James Columbus Eoff, 77, of Silverdale died Nov. 19, 1998, in Silverdale.
He was born Oct. 4, 1921, in George, Ark., to Ervin and Dora Belle (Gibbons) Eoff. He was raised in Liberty, Ark.
On April 26, 1946, he married Sarah Little in Berryville, Ark.
Mr. Eoff served in the Army from 1942 to 1945 as an infantryman. He served in the European Theater, Rhineland, France, Sicily, Naples Foggia, Rome Arno and Central Europe. He received the Combat Infantry Badge, the Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, six Bronze Stars, the Bronze Arrowhead for spearheading invasions, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, three overseas ribbons and the French Fourragere. He worked as a pipefitter for 20 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of the Pipefitters Union.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry of Bremerton; a daughter, Carolyn Meisner of Silverdale; and four grandchildren, Keith and Kena Meisner and Shanna and Derek Eoff.
No services will be conducted.
Arrangements and cremation are by Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 557 Roy St., Lower Level, Seattle, WA 98109-4219.

Vicki Parker
Vicki Mignon Parker, 52, of Silverdale died Nov. 17, 1998, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 2, 1946, in Seattle to Jack and Kathryn (VanHorn) Oeffner. She graduated from high school in San Jose, Calif., in 1964. She graduated from Central Washington University in 1971.
On April 24, 1965, she married Gary Parker in Port Angeles.
She and her husband owned and operated Parker's Auto Supply.
Survivors include her husband; her parents; a son, Greg of Silverdale; two daughters, Stephanie and Kathleen, both of Bremerton; two brothers, John Oeffner of Gaston, Ore., and David Oeffner of Bellingham; and a sister, Kathy Masker of Pro River, La.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 21 at Silverdale United Methodist Church, 9982 Silverdale Way NW.
Cremation is at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.
Arrangements are by Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Ray Creech
Ray Creech, 81, of Retsil died Nov. 13, 1998.
He was born July 9, 1917, in Italy, Texas. He graduated from high school in Avalon, Texas. He received a bachelor of arts degree from Whitworth College in Spokane.
Mr. Creech served in the Marine Corps from 1938 to 1950. He served during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He re-enlisted to fight in Korea, participating in capturing Inchon and liberating Seoul.
Mr. Creech was a student teacher for one year on the Nespelam Indian Reservation in Central Washington. He moved to California, where he taught fifth grade in the Santee School District. He retired from teaching after 20 years. He worked for the next 18 years as a real estate broker, fire tower watchman for the U.S. Forest Service, a San Diego trolley conductor and a rental property manager.
He was a member of the Christ the Rock Community Church.
Survivors include four sons, Donald of Port Orchard, Gregory of Seattle, Gerry of Meacham, Ore., and Kenneth of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Patricia Johnson of Minneapolis, Minn., a brother, William of Buda, Texas; three sisters, Ada Couch of Dallas, Texas, Rosalie Bledsoe of Athens, Texas, and Mavis Kitchens of Waxahachie, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Nov. 20 at Christ the Rock Community Church, 5000 Bethel Ave., Port Orchard. A military service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Nov. 23 at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent.
Memorials may be made to the Christ the Rock Community Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1336, Port Orchard, WA 98366.

Jeane Watts
Jeane L. Watts, 64, of Port Orchard died Nov. 16, 1998, in Bremerton.
She was born Jan. 17, 1934, in Winfield, Kan., to Cecil and Katherine Bradbury. She was raised in Kansas.
She was a member of the Eagles in Shelton and the Moose Lodge in Oakland, Calif.
Survivors include four sons, Rick Cathers of North Bend, Bruce and Kevin Cathers of Port Orchard and Manuel of Shelton; eight grandchildren, Amanda, David and Stephanie of Shelton, Michele, Allan and Jodie of Montana, and Ricky and April of North Bend; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Watts, and a son, Michael Cathers.
A memorial service was conducted at Bethany Lutheran Church.
Arrangements are by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Harold Demick
Harold Jack Demick, 81, of Allyn died November 15, 1998, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Demick was born August 12, 1917, in Seattle. He grew up in Seabeck and graduated from Silverdale High.
On August 27, 1938, he married Ynez Viola Jones at Silverdale Methodist Church.
Mr. Demick started working at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1940 as a shipfitter and retired from the design department in 1970. He built the family home at Mission Lake, where he resided until they moved to Allyn in 1986.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Harold Jack of Bremerton; a daughter, Joanne Wilkinson of Mission Lake; five grandchildren, Sandra Glass of Bainbridge Island, Brett Demick of Bremerton, Kimberly Waterman of Port Orchard, Jeffrey Demick of Bainbridge Island, and Kelly Keeling of Mission Lake; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, William Jay.
At his request, there will be no service.
Arrangements are by Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Homer Lessor
Former Bremerton resident Homer Wilson Lessor Sr., 71, died Nov. 14, 1998, at Providence Medford Medical Center in Oregon.
He was born April 15, 1927, in Peck, Idaho.
On May 28, 1977, he married Esther Forstrom in Reno, Nev.
Mr. Lessor served in the Navy for seven years. He worked as a boilermaker as a civilian employee at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1978 after 30 years.
He was a member of NARFE.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Homer Jr. of Rainier, Ore., and Ronald of Bremerton; three daughters, Kathleen Roberts of Victorville, Calif., Dianna Rigo of Georgia and Mary Magoon of Folkstone, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Janet Henshall of Vallejo, Calif.; a brother, Tom of Okinawa, Japan; three sisters, Wynonna Bailor of California, Violet Daniels of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Cuma Lombard of Auburn; a half-sister, Shirley Moffett of Carson City, Nev.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester and Ernie.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Nov. 19 at Eagle Point National cemetery in Eagle Point, Ore.
Arrangements are by Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

Joseph Steve
Joseph Benedict Steve, 89, of Tracyton died Nov. 13, 1998, at Belmont Terrace.
He was born March 1, 1909, in Swoyersville, Pa., to John and Amelia Steve. He graduated from Swoyersville High School in 1927.
On Nov. 2, 1932, he married Fanny Irene Emerton in Port Angeles.
Mr. Steve served in the Army from 1927 to 1948 in Fort Worden and in the Aleutian Islands Campaign, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. He received the World War II Victory Medal, the Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Ribbon and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon. He worked as a liquor store manager for Washington State in Port Townsend and was mayor of Port Townsend from 1972 to 1979, resigning his last year to move to Tracyton.
He was a life member of the BPO Elks No. 317 in Port Townsend, life member of the VFW Post No. 7498 in Hadlock and a life member of the American Legion Post No. 26 in Port Townsend.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Irene Helander of Bremerton; and three grandchildren, Joseph Helander of Poulsbo, Michael Helander of Kent and Jeffery Helander of Bremerton; and five great-grandchildren.
Private family services were conducted.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joe Steve Spring Garden Memorial Fund at Belmont Terrace, the American Lung Association, the Diabetes Association or the Heart Association.

George Hanzlik
George Hanzlik, 93, of Bremerton died Nov. 13, 1998.
He was born Jan. 12, 1905, to Thomas and Frances Hanzlik in Harlowton, Mont.
In November 1945, he married his wife, Florence, in Bremerton. She preceded him in death in 1970.
Mr. Hanzlik was employed at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 38 years, retiring in 1968.
He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton and the Kitsap Singles.
Survivors include one son, Thomas Hanzlik of West Linn, Ore.; two daughters, Sharon Johnson and Martha Groneman, both of Bremerton; and four grandsons, Kristoffer Johnson and Karl Groneman of Bremerton, and Kevin and Ryan Hanzlik of West Linn. Grandson Kurt Johnson preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 17 at Miller-Woodlawn Chapel.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 18 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton.
Memorials may be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Building Fund or St. Vincent de Paul.

Virginia Gormley
Virginia Elizabeth Gormley, 83, of Bremerton died Nov. 12, 1998, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 5, 1915, in Denair, Calif., to Tilman and Bertie (Jenkins) Fowler. She was raised in California.
On Oct. 29, 1932, she married James Gormley in Reno, Nev. He preceded her in death in 1970.
Mrs. Gormley worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Central Files for 22 years until her retirement. She later worked for 10 years for chiropractor Leander Eckard.
Survivors include four daughters, Eileen of Shelton, Sheila of Idaho, Patricia Barrett of Silverdale and Kathleen Noll of Salem, Ore.; two brothers, Bruce Fowler of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Mark Fowler of Ashland, Ore.; a sister, Carlie Bentley of Los Altos, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Interment icon will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
