Grace Dorothy
Grace Dorothy, 98, of Port Orchard died May 6, 2001, in Port Orchard.
She was born Sept. 1, 1902, in Marshall, Iowa, to Curtiss and Alma (Syncox) Adkins.
She married Raymond Dorothy on June 21, 1919. He preceded her in death in 1974.
She was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Robert of Darrington and Merle of Bremerton; two daughters, Alma Rae Barto of Manchester and Frances Burd of Norton, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a son, Delbert.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Haven of Rest Chapel in Gig Harbor. Interment icon will be at Haven of Rest Memorial Park, Highway 16 in Gig Harbor.

Ella McCord Borovikoff
Ella McCord Borovikoff, 89, of Bremerton died of natural causes May 5, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born July 19, 1911, in Chehalis to Frank and Ida (Black) Aust. She graduated from Chehalis High School in 1930 and from Success Business College in Seattle in 1932.
She married Roy McCord on March 12, 1942, in Longview. He preceded her in death in 1980.
She married George Borovikoff on Feb. 14, 1982, in Bremerton. He preceded her in death in 1992.
She was an auditor for Lewis County and a self-employed barber in Bremerton. She retired in 1982.
She enjoyed helping people and traveling. She was a member of First Christian Church of Bremerton.
She is survived by a son, Terry McCord of Allyn; and one granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. Interment icon will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church, 811 Veneta, Bremerton, WA 98337.

Avis Hicks
Avis Evelyn Hicks, 75, of Port Orchard died May 7, 2001, at Ridgemont Terrace.
She was born March 11, 1926, in Pelican Rapids, Minn., to Ernest and Genevieve (Krebs) Bice.
She was a seamstress and a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Edward of Shelton and Julian of Port Orchard; a daughter, Yvonne Wilson of Vernon, British Columbia, Canada; a sister, Marie Milsten of Kent; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Hicks in 1964, and a brother, Robert Bice of Waubun, Minn.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association-Washington Affiliate, 557 Roy St., Lower Level, Seattle, WA 98109.

Paul Wallace
Paul C. Wallace, 62, formerly of Bremerton, died of an aortic aneurysm April 27, 2001, in San Jose, Calif.
He was born Sept. 19, 1938, in San Francisco. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1956 and from Montana State University in 1961.
Mr. Macdonald was a purchasing agent for Kaiser Aluminum for 23 years. He also worked for Northrop and Lockheed Shipyard.
He was a member of the San Jose Tennis Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Kelley Sutherland of Arroyo Grande, Calif., and Erin Wallace of Northhampton, Mass.; and one grandchild.

M. Elaine Kilpatric
M. Elaine Kilpatric, 86, died May 7, 2001, at her Port Orchard residence.
She was born Jan. 6, 1915, in Colfax, Calif., to James and Alice (Bomar) Patten. She graduated in 1933 from Corona High School in Corona, Calif.
She married Hugh T. "Pat" Kilpatric on June 3, 1934, in Otterbine, Calif. He preceded her in death in 1992.
She worked in the funeral service industry for more than 50 years.
Mrs. Kilpatric enjoyed drawing with oils, water and charcoal, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Castro of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Beverly Westfall of Port Orchard; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be Friday at Pacific Garden Chapel in Santa Cruz. Interment icon will take place at Oakwood cemetery also in Santa Cruz. Local arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 1551 Broadway, Suite 200, Tacoma, WA 98402.

Bill Macdonald
Former Bremerton resident William N. "Bill" Macdonald, 79, died April 29, 2001, in Vancouver, Wash.
He was born July 5, 1921, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to William and Mildred Macdonald. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1940.
He served in the Navy on the USS Enterprise. After his discharge, he returned to his position as an electrician at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, where he stayed until retiring.
He was a member of the local electrician's union.
Survivors include two daughters, Diana Wallace of Seattle and Susan Lott of Everett; and a brother, Jack Macdonald of Bremerton.

Marian Cox
Marian C. Cox, 81, of Bremerton died May 2, 2001, in Port Orchard.
She was born Feb. 16, 1920, in Easton, Penn., to Joseph and Rose Mary Yacone. She was educated in Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Cox was a homemaker. She was a Catholic.
Survivors include three daughters, Rosemarie Rickabaugh of Poulsbo, Shirley Price of Alaska, and Loretta Nitz of Texas; a brother Joe Yacone of Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Huitt, in 1997
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation by Lewis Funeral Chapel at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.

Linda Clifton
Linda Ann Clifton, 58, of Port Orchard died May 5, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Jan. 28, 1943, in Camas to Vincent and Doris Lommen. She graduated from Ilwaco High School in 1961.
She worked as an accounting assistant with the Kitsap County Public Works Department for 26 years until her retirement.
She loved animals and enjoyed spending time with her grandson.
Survivors include her companion, Bill Clifton; her mother, Doris Ford of Yuma, Ariz.; a son, Scott Tetz of Port Orchard; a daughter, Lori Tetz-Alire of Port Orchard; a sister, Carla Schmidt of Chinook; and one grandson.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Friday at Elim Lutheran Church in Port Orchard. Memorial donations may be made to Kitsap Humane Society, 9167 Dickey Road, Silverdale, WA 98383.

Percy Wheeler
Percy Warren Wheeler, 84, of Silverdale died May 1, 2001, of pneumonia at Harrison Hospital.
He was born July 15, 1916, in Neshannock Falls, Penn., to Percival and Elizabeth (Laundras) Wheeler. He graduated from Sharpsville High School in Sharpsville, Pa., in 1932.
Mr. Wheeler served in the Navy from 1935 to 1941, achieving the rank of petty officer first class. He received the National Defense Medal.
He married Glenn "Billie" Bruere Jewett on Dec. 6, 1941, in Sharpsville. She preceded him in death in 1990.
Mr. Wheeler worked as an air-traffic controller for 32 years, retiring in 1972.
He enjoyed flying and target shooting.
His survivors include two sons, Glenn of Redmond and Jeff of Silverdale; and two grandchildren.
Services and inurnment are private. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Jesse Ruddles
Jesse J. Ruddles, 83, of Bremerton died May 5, 2001, of cancer at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center in Bremerton.
He was born Dec. 25, 1917, in Catoosa, Okla., to Jesse and Sadie (Campbell) Ruddles. He graduated from Hagerman High School in Hagerman, Idaho, in 1935.
Mr. Ruddles served in the Army from 1942 to 1945, achieving the rank of technical sergeant fifth class. He received a Bronze Star and an Asiatic Pacific Service Medal.
He married Lucille Page on June 25, 1951, in Elko, Nev.
He had worked in heavy construction for 18 years and as a grocery-store owner for 20 years. He owned the Trenton Avenue Grocery in Bremerton and the Port Gamble General Store. He retired in 1980.
Mr. Ruddles enjoyed golf and traveling. He was a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, William Tate of Bremerton; a daughter, Delores Thomas of Camp Verde, Ariz.; a sister, Opal Kirtland of Garden Valley, Idaho; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Inurnment will take place in Hagerman, with a graveside service there at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Kitsap County, P.O. Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383.

J.L. Coody
Former Keyport resident J.L. Coody, 75, of Hemet, Calif., died April 23, 2001, after a lengthy illness at the Hemet Valley Hospital.
He was born July 3, 1925, in Clarks, La., to Thomas and Ebrige (Emmons) Coody. He graduated from Kelly High School in Grayson, La., in 1943.
He married Gwen Gould on Sept. 22, 1945, in Monroe, La.
Mr. Coody worked as an electrician in Shop 6 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 28 years, retiring in 1973.
He enjoyed gardening and traveling.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Don of Richland and Dusty of Port Orchard; four brothers, Benny of Fort Smith, Ark., Charles of Columbia, La., and Thomas "Junior" and Fred, both of Monroe; a sister, Cleatus Rogers of Columbia; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held April 29 at Hemet Valley Mortuary, with interment at Hemet Valley cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
