Buzz Tyler
Former Port Townsend resident Francis Payson "Buzz" Tyler Jr., 65, of Tacoma died April 29, 2001, in Tacoma.
He was born Nov. 10, 1935, in Port Townsend to Francis and Vera (Longmire) Tyler.
Mr. Tyler was a self-employed freight hauler. He enjoyed researching family history and working on his truck.
Survivors include his mother of Bremerton; two brothers, James Clements Jr. of Port Hadlock and Larry Tyler of Port Townsend; and three sisters, Patricia Osmer of Alaska and Jean Lesnick and Shirley Thomas, both of Bremerton.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kosec Funeral Home in Port Townsend.

Derrick Lee
Derrick Bernard Lee Jr., 52 days old, of Bremerton died May 3, 2001, in Bremerton.
He was born March 12, 2001, in Bremerton to Derrick and Memary (LaRock) Lee.
He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Treyon and Osceola, both of Bremerton; two sisters, Sativa and Semira, both of Bremerton; and grandparents Wilson and Shawlee Lee and Cordell and Deborah Morsette, all of Bremerton.
Visitation is planned from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Irene Haberland
Irene Colette Haberland, 82, of Poulsbo died May 5, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Jan. 24, 1919, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Eugene and Marion (Baechle) Murphy. She graduated from the Milwaukee School of Nursing.
She served in the Navy from 1947 to 1949 as an ensign in the Nurse Corps.
She married Robert Haberland on Dec. 29, 1948, in Piedmont, Calif.
Mrs. Haberland was a member of the Sons of Norway.
She is survived by her husband; and a daughter, Marita Haberland of Salt Lake City.
A memorial service is planned for 7 p.m. Friday at Liberty Bay Presbyterian Church in Poulsbo. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.

Gary Christiansen
Gary R. Christiansen, 52, of Port Orchard died May 5, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Oct. 2, 1948, in Bremerton to Ray and Lucille Christiansen. He graduated in 1966 from Magnolia High School in Anaheim, Calif.
He served in the Army from 1966 to 1972 and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He married his wife, Susan, in 1976 in Gig Harbor.
Mr. Christiansen was a pipefitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 27 years.
He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife; his parents of Port Orchard; a stepson, Larry of Port Orchard; a daughter, Myle Garcia of Bremerton; two brothers, Dave of Tahuya and Greg of Bremerton; a sister, Lynn Kolstad of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the family home, 9620 Southworth Drive in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home.

John Alford
John Stanley Alford, 83, of Bremerton died May 4, 2001, in Bremerton.
He was born Nov. 1, 1917, in Richland Springs, Texas, to John and Minnie (McCoy) Alford. He graduated in 1935 from Richland Springs High School and attended Olympic College.
He married Helena Mardian on June 14, 1943, in Bremerton.
He was a chief petty officer in the Navy from 1939 to 1960. He was awarded the Pearl Harbor Medal and the Korean Service Medal.
Mr. Alford later worked at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard supply center, retiring in 1980.
He enjoyed vegetable gardening and woodworking. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tony of Silverdale and Gary of Las Vegas; a daughter, Francine Kaplan of Silverdale; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack; and three sisters, Hazel, Myrtle and Blanche.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, also at Miller-Woodlawn. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.

Edna Smith
Edna M. Smith, 86, of Poulsbo died May 6, 2001, of cancer in Poulsbo.
She was born Dec. 6, 1914, in Poulsbo to Christian and Nellie (Tarlson) Jensen. She attended North Kitsap High School.
She married Arden Smith on July 15, 1932, in Seattle. He preceded her in death in 1985.
Mrs. Smith was a nursing assistant and a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening.
Survivors include a son, Larry of Poulsbo; three daughters, Jean Nausid of Lemolo, Diane Taylor of Tracyton and Lynn Matthews of Westville, Okla.; two sisters, Colleen Swanson of Poulsbo and Barbara Page of Wills Point, Texas; a brother, Cliff Jensen of Poulsbo; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a son, Dewey; three brothers, Lloyd, Harry and Ken Jensen; and a sister, Frances Iverson.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, also at The Stone Chapel. Interment icon will be at Poulsbo City cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Poulsbo Fire Fighters Association, 911 Liberty Road, Poulsbo, WA 98370.

Al Price
Albert W. "Al" Price, 88, of Port Orchard died of natural causes May 4, 2001, in Port Orchard.
He was born May 28, 1912, in Hubbard, Ohio, to Albert and Annie (James) Price. He graduated in 1930 from East Sparta High School in East Sparta, Ohio, and attended Ohio State University.
He married Mary Tooze on Sept. 28, 1931, in Wellsburg, W.Va. She preceded him in death in 1996.
Mr. Price worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 37 years, retiring in 1978 as a marine machinist foreman.
He was a foster parent and volunteered with Boy Scouts of America.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas of Port Orchard, Michael of Seattle and Patrick of Valliant, Okla.; four daughters, Deloris Peterson, Anita Sanford and Tina Price, all of Port Orchard, and Gloria Price of Bremerton; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas of Ohio.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, also at Rill Chapel. Interment icon will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Daryl Stewart
Former Bremerton resident Daryl Ray Stewart, 47, of Phoenix, Ariz., died of complications from diabetes April 30, 2001, in Phoenix.
He was born June 20, 1953, in Walla Walla to Manual Raymond and Patricia (Bradley) Stewart. He graduated in 1971 from West High School in Bremerton, in 1975 from Central Washington University and in 1993 from the American Institute of Paralegal Reporting in Phoenix.
Mr. Stewart was a restaurant owner and a financial investment adviser. He enjoyed baseball and golf.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Patricia and Alfred Pimentel of Bremerton; a daughter, Jennifer Lauren Stewart of Tucson, Ariz.; and four brothers, Dennis of Portland, Ore., Duane of Seattle, Darin of Enumclaw and Dana of Bellevue. He was preceded in death by his father, and a brother, Devin.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Norma Butler
Norma Butler, 87, of Port Orchard died of natural causes May 3 in Bremerton.
She was born May 9, 1913, in Fort Worden, to Lloyd and Ida Grover. She graduated from Lawton (Okla.) High School in 1932.
She married James E. Butler on Nov. 21 1936 in Fort Sill, Okla. He preceded her in death in 1995.
Mrs. Butler was a housewife and mother.
She was a Protestant.
Survivors include her daughter, Kay Armison; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 4414 Woodland Park Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98103.

Nicholas Mirth Rigg
Nicholas Gene Mirth Rigg, 18, of Silverdale died May 3, 2001, following a motorcycle accident in Silverdale.
He was born Nov. 18, 1982, in San Diego. He graduated from Central Kitsap High School last year.
He enjoyed roller hockey and his Volkswagen GTI.
Survivors include his parents, William and Susan (Mirth) Rigg; and two brothers, Mike and Jeremy.
A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel on the Naval Submarine Base at Bangor.

Robert Bell Jr.
Robert B. Bell Jr., 22, of Port Orchard died April 30, 2001, at his home.
He was born April 24, 1979, in the Philippines to Robert and Andrita (Bugarian) Bell Sr. He graduated from high school in Kerns, Utah.
Mr. Bell worked for the interstate protective service at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and as a manufacturing laborer in Utah.
He enjoyed music and his family.
Survivors include his mother, Andrita Bugarian of the Philippines; his father and stepmother, Robert and Celia Bell Sr. of Port Orchard; two brothers, Rodolfo Bell of Port Orchard and JoJo Bugarian of the Philippines; two sisters, Adoracion Valerias of Anchorage, Alaska, and Consolacion Bell of New Jersey.
Visitation is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to Child Protective Services, 3423 Sixth St., Ste. 217, Bremerton, WA 98312-3500.

Loretta Clark
Former Port Orchard resident Loretta May Clark, 57, of Goshen, Ind., died April 30, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born Sept. 27, 1943, in Avilla, Ind., to Howard and Laverne (Baily) Johnson. She attended high school in Goshen.
She married James Clark on Aug. 3, 1988, in Port Orchard.
Mrs. Clark worked at Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, William Gosnell Jr. of Elkhart, Ind. and Thomas Gosnell of Ft. Wayne; two daughters, Victoria Seitz and Melane Gosnell, both of Fort Wayne; two stepdaughters, Stephanie Mounsey of Millersburg, Ind. and Tawna Clark of Silverdale; five brothers, Delbert, Roger and Kenneth Johnson, all of Albion, Ind., Rollin Johnson of Columbia, Ind. and Harold Johnson of Avilla, Ind.; three sisters, Betty Clouse of Albion, Lotty Parry of Houston and Beatrice Eppert of Syracuse, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Johnson.
A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. today at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home in Goshen.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
