Delmar Loofbourrow
Delmar D. Loofbourrow, 84, of Bremerton died of natural causes April 19, 2001, at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born April 7, 1917, in Oklahoma to John and Molly (Barker) Loofbourrow. He graduated from Pomona High School in Pomona, Calif.
Mr. Loofbourrow served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945. He later was a final inspector at the G.E. Iron Plant.
He is survived by a daughter, Roberta Jean of Port Orchard, and a brother, Vercille of Pomona.
A private service will be held. Inurnment will take place at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent. Local arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Lucy Woodworth
Lucy May Woodworth, 88, of Port Orchard died April 21, 2001, at her daughter's home in Port Orchard.
She was born April 14, 1913, in Hartland, N.Y., to Clarence and Clara (Robison) Hare.
She married
LeRoy Woodworth in March 1939 in New York state. He preceded her in death in 1980.
Mrs. Woodworth was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Glen of Zephyrhills, Fla.; a daughter, Vivian Duran of Port Orchard; a brother, Richard Hare of Gasport, N.Y.; five sisters, Doris Hainsey of Middleport, N.Y., Jean Schulwitz of Rochester, N.Y., Audrey Townsend of Logan, Ohio, Joyce Edwards of Fort Worth, Texas, and Marion Riley of El Paso, Texas; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, LaVerne and Kenneth.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Middleport, with interment at Hartland cemetery in Hartland, N.Y. Local arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Dwight Anderson
Dwight Anderson, 53, of Bremerton died of cancer April 19, 2001, at Madigan Army Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 11, 1947, in Detroit to George and Dorothy (Fair) Anderson. He graduated in 1965 from Southeastern High School in Detroit. He attended the University of Connecticut in Groton, Conn., and Olympic College.
He married
Louise Jones on April 20, 1968, in Detroit.
Mr. Anderson served in the Navy from 1965 until his retirement in 1990, achieving the rank of master chief petty officer. He received the Navy Commendation Medal with two Gold Stars and the Navy Achievement Medal.
He later worked in civil service.
Mr. Anderson enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; his father of Clinton Township, Mich.; a son, Blair of Silverdale; a daughter, Amanda of Redmond; a brother, Harold of Lake Forest, Ill.; a sister, Sharon of Valley Park, Mo.; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his mother, and a brother, Douglas.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday also at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Cremation is under the direction of Cherry Grove Crematory.

Bonny Everett
Bonny L. Everett, 57, died April 21, 2001, at her Port Orchard residence.
She was born Oct. 10, 1943, in Bremerton to William and Dorothy (Willis) Elmore. She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1961, and attended the University of Montana.
She married
Donald Everett on Oct. 16, 1983, in Port Orchard.
She was a homemaker. She was a gifted artist and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Laurie Griebel and Susan Wanke, both of Port Orchard, and Shannon Owen of Las Vegas; a stepdaughter, Debra Ellington of McKinleyville, Calif.; two stepsons, Arthur Everett of McKinleyville and Garry Everett of Redding Calif.; and 18 grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Lane cemetery.

Gerry Bernier
Gerald "Gerry" Deveraux Bernier Sr., 62, died April 19, 2001, at his Bremerton residence.
He was born Nov. 13, 1938, in Seattle to Gustave and Muriel (Smith) Bernier. He attended Queen Anne High School in Seattle.
He married
Earleen Nicolaus on May 23, 1964, in Bremerton.
Mr. Bernier was instrumental in the establishment of the county's emergency dispatching system as an assistant to Wes Henry. He then worked for Ted Zink at the Kitsap County Coroner's Office as a deputy coroner until ill health forced his retirement in 1996.
He enjoyed cooking, family and friends.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; three sons, Gerald D. Bernier Jr. of Brownsville and Dan Bernier and Thomas Culliton, both of Bremerton; a daughter, Suzanne Sabanal of Port Orchard; three sisters, Gloria Van Moorhem of Bellingham, Shirley Suputa of Florida and Michelle Kellogg of Seattle; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Cremation will be by Cherry Grove. Arrangements are by Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Corbett Foyston
Corbett P. Foyston, 78, of Manchester died April 20, 2001, at Willow Creek Adult Family Home in Port Orchard.
He was born June 4, 1922, in Seattle to Frank and Helen (Tuffley) Foyston. He was a 1941 graduate of South Kitsap High School.
He married
Phyllis J. Palmer on Sept. 13, 1974, in Burien.
He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a heavy equipment operator in Seattle with union local 302, retiring in 1976.
Mr. Foyston enjoyed fishing and golf.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Paula Baruffi of Bellevue; two sisters, Betty Johnston of Sun City, Ariz., and Barbara Daniels of Manchester; and two grandchildren.
Private services will be held. Inurnment will be at Evergreen-Washelli cemetery in Seattle. Arrangements are by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Kenneth Sowell
Kenneth T. Sowell, 59, of Port Orchard died April 21, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Nov. 17, 1941, in Tacoma to Thomas and Helen (Johnston) Sowell. He graduated from Clover Park High School in Lakewood in 1960 and from Centralia Community College in 1962.
He married
Diane Silvernail on Sept. 3, 1966, in Puyallup.
Mr. Sowell was a pipefitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 27 years.
He was a member of Metal Trade Union Shop 56 and Christ The King Lutheran Church in Bremerton. He also enjoyed studying genealogy.
Survivors include two sons, Ryan and Jared, both of Port Orchard; two daughters, Shannon Sowell of Port Orchard and Abby Hulett of East Wenatchee; and two brothers, Dick of Tacoma and Don of Gig Harbor.
Interment will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard, followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at Christ The King Lutheran Church.

David Fowler
David W. Fowler, 67, of Allyn died April 19, 2001, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
He was born March 12, 1934, in Fargo, N.D., to Benjamin D. and Ethel (Brown) Fowler. He graduated from San Rafael High School and Contra Costa College, both in California.
He served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 and was awarded the Korean Service Medal and the National Defense Medal.
He married
Joan Soldate on Feb. 20, 1960, in Peta Luma, Calif.
He worked for Standard Oil of California for 11 years and for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1993.
He enjoyed car racing and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4497 in Pindle, Calif.
He was a Lutheran.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Daniel of Eastsound and Jonathan of Key West, Fla.; a daughter, Jody Buchan of Belfair; three brothers, Allen of Sacramento, Calif., Thomas of Lake County, Calif., and Michael of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a sister, Virgene Cox of California; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
At his request, no service will be held. Arrangements are by Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Noah Breshears
Noah Breshears, 84, of Port Orchard died April 22, 2001, in Port Orchard.
He was born Sept. 15, 1916, in Warsaw, Mo., to Henry B. and Ida (Button) Breshears.
He was a railroad worker for 15 years. He also owned a small trucking and service station.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include a companion, Mary Jones of Port Orchard; a son, Bobby of Port Orchard; two daughters, Veta Hammer of Longbranch and Mary Maxine Kentner of Elmer City; two brothers, Denver and Ralph, both of Missouri; a sister, Aileen Harris of Missouri; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alta M., in 1982.
A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard. Arrangements are by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home.
Gladys Stivers
Gladys N. Stivers, 99, of Bremerton died of natural causes April 19, 2001, at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born March 31, 1902, in Skamokawa to J.W. and Libbie (Newell) Thompson.
She married
Guy Stivers on June 16, 1921, in Portland, Ore. He preceded her in death in 1965.
Mrs. Stivers enjoyed crafts and her family.
Survivors include a son, Charles of Port Angeles; three daughters, Gloria Tuckness and Donna Swanson, both of Bremerton, and Dolores Hopkins of Auburn; a sister, Betty DeWitt of Bremerton; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Perry Thompson; and a grandson, Don Ghylin.
Services are private. Arrangements are by Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Rod Ross
Roderick "Rod" E. Ross, 83, of Hansville died April 19, 2001, in Poulsbo.
He was born Feb. 18, 1918, in Seattle to Charles and Cora (Smith) Ross. He graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1937 and from LaSalle Extension University.
He married
Bernice Potter on July 4, 1941, in Hoquiam.
Mr. Ross was an inspector for The Boeing Co. for 42 years, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed airplanes and boating.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jerry of Seattle; a brother, Thomas of Seattle; a sister, Virginia Daugert of Almira; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce, in 1973; and a brother, Don, in 1998.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel. Cremation is by Cherry Grove Memorial Park.
