Edward Paulus
Edward Paulus, 86, of Bremerton died Nov. 14, 1998.
He was born Oct. 31, 1912, in Madison, Wisc., to John and Rossela (Musical) Paulus.
On Aug. 29, 1936, he married
Margaret Paulus in Blaine. She preceded him in death in 1987.
Mr. Paulus was a shipwright at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 30 years until his retirement in 1975.
He was a longtime member of the Eagles.
Survivors include three sons, Albert of Bremerton, Michael of Poulsbo and David of Port Orchard; a brother, Felix of Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Edward, Al and Kevin Paulis, Sherri Whitlock, Jeanette Miller, Denise Arthur and Jennifer Robinson, all of Kitsap County; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 18 at Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Nov 19, also at Miller Woodlawn.
Francis Boyett
Francis Boyett, 75, of Seattle died Nov. 15, 1998, at Washington Veterans Home in Retsil, of natural causes.
He was born June 8, 1923, in Seattle. He attended Ballard High School.
On June 29, 1946, he married
Vicky Straumfjord in Seattle.
Mr. Boyett served in the Navy from 1941 to 1945 in the South Pacific as a gunner's mate. He worked as a checker-loader with Sea-Land for 20 years until his retirement in 1975.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans of Seattle.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Brian of Seattle; two daughters, Ann Marie Nygaard of Montlake Terrace and Vicky May Webb of Bremerton; a sister, Gloria Tolbert of Seattle; and seven grandchildren, Traci Jo Garner of Seattle, Arne and Andrea Nygaard, both of Montlake Terrace, Chelsie, Jeremy and Josh Webb, all of Bremerton and Tinisha Jo Garner of Seattle. He was preceded in death by a brother, Duke Randle Boyett.
Inurnment will be at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 20 at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent.

Donald Creel
Donald F. Creel, 54, of Port Orchard died Nov. 9, 1998, of natural causes.
He was born Jan. 24, 1944, in Birmingham, Ala., to Clayton and Maren (Moore) Creel.
On Jan. 22, 1988, he married
Ruth Ann Morse in Texas City, Texas.
Mr. Creel served in the Navy from 1963 to 1966 in Vietnam, receiving both the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He worked as a commercial electrician.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carolyn; and two brothers, Eddie Joe and Larry, both of Texas.
No services have been scheduled.

Ruth Cass
Ruth H. Cass, 91, of Bremerton died Nov. 11, 1998, at Oyster Bay Care Center.
She was born May 25, 1907, in Lake Bronson, Minn.
She was married
on Sept. 12, 1925. Her husband preceded her in death.
She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Sons of Norway.
Survivors include a daughter, Maxine Inks of Moses Lake; a brother, Arthur Bottman of Puyallup; two sisters, Esther Gervais of Seattle and Judy Kempf of Minnesota; four grandchildren, David Inks of Othello, Victor and Michael Swieck, both of Seattle and Kathleen Griffin of Bonney Lake; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at
1 p.m. Nov. 18 at Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home.
George Hanzlik
George Hanzlik, 93, of Bremerton died Nov. 13, 1998.
He was born Jan. 12, 1905, to Thomas and Frances Hanzlik in Harlowton, Mont.
In November 1945, he married
his wife, Florence, in Bremerton. She preceded him in death in 1970.
Mr. Hanzlik was employed at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 38 years, retiring in 1968.
He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton and the Kitsap Singles.
Survivors include one son, Thomas Hanzlik of West Linn, Ore., and four grandsons, Kristoffer Johnson and Karl Groneman of Bremerton, and Kevin and Ryan Hanzlik of West Linn. Grandson Kurt Johnson preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 17 at Miller-Woodlawn Chapel.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 18 at Our Lady Star of the Sea.
Memorials may be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Building Fund or St. Vincent de Paul.
Hazel Little
Hazel Aleen Little, 78, of Bremerton died Nov. 12, 1998, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 4, 1919, in Ritzville to Rose and Bushton Hallett.
On Nov. 17, 1940, she married
Allen C. Little. He preceded her in death in 1992.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandy Burroughs of Bremerton; three grandchildren, Tyler Brilinski of Phoenix, Ariz., Heidi Gonzales of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Marcia Brilinski of Bremerton; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Bill.
At her request, there will be no services.
Betty Dennison
Betty Irene Dennison, 80, of Poulsbo died Nov. 13, 1998, at Northwoods Lodge.
She was born April 14, 1918, in Wallace, Idaho, to Hans and Rachel (Horn) Bue. She was raised in the Greenlake area of Seattle, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1936.
In September 1940, she married
Herbert Dennison in Seattle. He preceded her in death in 1977.
Mrs. Dennison was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Richard of Federal Way; three daughters, Judith Miller of Bainbridge Island, Barbara McKenna of Poulsbo and Joanne Peterson of Kirkland; and 10 grandchildren, Kris, Erik, Jon, Mandy, Kevin, Matthue, Marc, Mikael, Daniel and Ivan. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert, in 1975, and a sister, Frances Stupfell in 1992.
Private family services will be conducted at a later date, with cremation at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.

Hedwig Linnenbruegge
Former Olympia resident Hedwig M.E. "Lindy" Linnenbruegge, 83, died Nov. 9, 1998, at her home in Panorama City Retirement Community in Lacey.
She was born April 6, 1915, in Kiel, Germany, to Hans and Ida Linnenbruegge. The family immigrated to the United States in 1924.
In 1942, she joined the Navy Nurse Corps. She retired in 1969 with the rank of commander. During World War II she served in the South Pacific. She also was stationed in Turkey and Alaska, and served in Navy hospitals in various areas of the United States, including Whidbey Naval Air Station and Bremerton Naval Base. While in the Navy, she received a degree in public health nursing from Colorado University.
Ms. Linnenbruegge was a charter member of the National Navy Nurse Corps Association and a member of the local chapter of the Northwest Navy Nurse Corps. She was a past president of the Capt. Sue Dauser Guild. She served on the board of trustees of Tacoma Orthopedic Association, Mary Bridge Hospital. She was a member of the Thurston County Retired Officers Association.
Before moving to Olympia, she lived on Hood Canal where she was an active member of Belfair Community Baptist Church. She was a 24-year sixth-degree member of Twanoh Grange. She served for many years as a volunteer nurse for Girl Scout camps and Baptist Youth camps.
After moving to Olympia, she became a member of First Baptist Church, where she served as president of American Baptist Women's Ministries; she was a member of the Board of Deacons and was a consistent participant in the church's "Feeding the Hungry" program.
She is survived by her sister, Gertrude of Panorama City Retirement Community in Lacey.
Memorial services were Nov. 14 at the First Baptist Church in Olympia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Capt. Sue Dauser Guild at Mary Bridge Hospital.
JoAnn Cartmill
JoAnn Francis (Beck) Cartmill, 61, of Port Orchard died Nov. 14, 1998, at St. Francis Hospital of respiratory failure.
She was born Aug. 9, 1937, in Portland, Ore., to William and Martha (Hintz) Beck.
On Sept. 18, 1954, she married
Eddie Cartmill in Anchorage, Alaska.
She was active in the Lutheran church and as a volunteer, a member of TOPS, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a professional concessionaire.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Edward of La Conner and Randall of Port Orchard; a daughter, Jessica Cartmill Nichols of Mill Creek; a sister, Shirley Triolo of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Nov. 20 at the First Lutheran Church of Port Orchard with a gathering immediately following the service, also at the church.
