Dennis Force
Dennis Ralph Force, 75, of Bremerton died April 10, 2001, after a long battle with lung and brain cancer at Clear-brook Inn Living Center in Silverdale.
He was born July 6, 1925, in Bremerton to Orris and Ella (Crosier) Force. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1943 and attended the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma.
Mr. Force served in the Army Airborne from 1943 to 1946, achieving the rank of private first class. He received the Purple Heart and Combat Paratrooper Wings with Bronze Star.
He married Betty Miner on Feb. 23, 1952, in Bremerton.
Mr. Force worked in the fire department at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 30 years, retiring as captain in 1980.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, an original member of the 82nd Airborne Division Association and a member of Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Stephen of Bremerton; a brother, Gale of Bremerton; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Soreng in 1996.
A memorial service is planned for 2:30 p.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A private family burial is being held today at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton.

William McChesney
William James McChesney Sr., 83, of Kingston died April 11, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Nov. 16, 1917, in Stavely, Alberta, Canada, to Bert and Annie (McPhee) McChesney. He graduated from Seattle Prep in 1936.
He married Betty Wicklund on Aug. 1, 1940, in Everett.
Mr. McChesney worked at Todd Shipyards in Seattle from 1940 until his retirement as a purchasing agent in 1975.
He enjoyed heavy gardening and puttering. He was a member of St. Olaf's Catholic Church in Poulsbo.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, William Jr. of Seattle and Michael of Spokane; a daughter, Susan of Poulsbo; a brother, Harold of Seattle; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Olaf's Catholic Church, 18943 Caldart St., in Poulsbo, followed by a graveside service at 1 p.m. in Holyrood cemetery in Shoreline. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove.
Memorial donations may be made to Parkinson's Disease Association, 1959 NE Pacific St., Division of Neurology, RG-27, Seattle, WA 98195; American Heart Association, 4414 Woodland Park Ave. N, Seattle, WA 98103-7499; or to St. Olaf's Catholic Church, 18943 Caldart St., Poulsbo, WA 98370.

Bertha Fisk
Bertha Agusta Fisk, 91, of Hansville died April 10, 2001, at home.
She was born July 20, 1909, in Seattle to Philip and Florence Holdsworth. She graduated from Franklin High School in Seattle in 1927.
She married Harry Fisk in 1931. He preceded her in death in 1994.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed reading and gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Donald of Hansville and Douglas of Edmonds; two brothers, Richard Holdsworth of Sequim and Phil Holdsworth of Anchorage, Alaska; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia North.
At her request, there will be no service. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove.

Monte Hadley
Monte L. Hadley, 65, of Poulsbo, died April 8, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Feb. 9, 1936, in Winslow, Ariz., to Leroy and Dorothy (Taylor) Hadley. He graduated from Winslow High School in 1954 and attended Coleman College in San Diego.
He married Darla Dawson on Jan. 15, 1955, in Albuquerque, N.M.
He served in the Navy from 1955 to 1980 as a submarine qualified chief torpedoman and was awarded the joint services commendation medal and Navy Expeditionary Medal.
He enjoyed camping and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Darvin D. Hadley of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Russell Wilson of Federal Way; and a daughter, Jerrilynn Hadley of Federal Way.
At his request, no service is planned. Arrangements are under the direction of The Stone Chapel.

William Buttery
William G. Buttery Sr., 84, of Bremerton, died April 7, 2001, in Bremerton.
He was born Sept. 20, 1916, in Grand Forks, N.D. His father's name was Lionel Buttery. He attended school in Everett.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for more than 20 years, achieving the rank of master sergeant.
Survivors include a son, William G. Buttery Jr. of Bainbridge Island. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, in 1993.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Elaine Warrick-Ford
Elaine Marie Warrick-Ford, 43, of Port Orchard died of natural causes April 11, 2001, at The Regional Hospital in Tukwila.
She was born Feb. 10, 1958, in Ballard to John and Marjorie (Caudle) McGowan. She graduated from Federal Way High School in 1977.
She married Michael D. Ford Sr. on Aug. 23, 1997.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed music and dancing. She attended North West Baptist Church in Sunny Slope.
Survivors include her husband; her parents, of Federal Way; a son, Paul Warrick of Port Orchard; a brother, Russell McGowan of Seattle; two sisters, Robyn McGowan of Federal Way and Johnna Cooper of West Virginia; and her grandmother, Elsie Caudle of Federal Way.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Yahn & Son Funeral Home in Auburn. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, also at Yahn & Son Funeral Home. Interment icon will take place at Mountain View cemetery in Auburn.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

John Simpers
John L. Simpers, 54, of Tacoma died of a stroke April 8, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tacoma.
He was born Sept. 11, 1946, in Walla Walla to Charles and Charlotte (Hill) Simpers. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1965.
Mr. Simpers served in the Air Force from 1965 to 1969, achieving the rank of sergeant.
He was a postal carrier in Tacoma for 12 years.
He enjoyed photography and was a black powder enthusiast.
He is survived by his mother. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Arthur.
A funeral is planned at 3 p.m. today at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Interment icon will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Michael Shipley
Michael Lee Shipley, 17, of Bremerton died April 12, 2001, in Bremerton.
He was born Dec. 6, 1983, in Bremerton to Dennis and Sherly (Mendoza) Shipley. He was raised in Bremerton and was a junior at Olympic High School.
He was a member of the Bonzai Car Club.
He is survived by his parents; a brother, James of Bremerton; a sister, Mary Shipley of Bremerton; and paternal grandparents, Robert and Marian Shipley of Eugene, Ore.
Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, April 16 at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral is planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday, also at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Interment icon will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Helen Davis
Helen Laverne Davis, 81, of Port Orchard died of natural causes
March 17, 2001, at her home.
She was born Dec. 25, 1919, in Solomon, Kan., to Raymond and Jennie (Rodgers) Davis.
She managed the Flying J gas station in Port Orchard from 1986 until her retirement in 1990.
She was preceded in death by her son, Fred Singleton.
At her request, there will be no service. Arrangements are under the direction of Kitsap Cremation and Burial Society.

Jeanne Fox
Jeanne M. Fox, 73, of Bainbridge Island died of liver failure April 7, 2001.
She was born Nov. 7, 1927, in Mankato, Minn., to Clarence and Ethel Trombley. She graduated in 1945 from Lincoln High School in Seattle.
She married Dale Fox on April 10, 1948, in Seattle.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Penny Fox Lamping and Becky Fox Marshall, both of Bainbridge Island; a brother, Bruce Trombley of Sequim; two sisters, Joyce Stanton of Shelton and Jan Schimming of Grants Pass, Ore.; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Eagle Harbor Congregational Church, Madison Avenue and Winslow Way West on Bainbridge Island.

Helen Ryan
Helen Louise Ryan, 92, of Poulsbo died April 8, 2001, at her home.
She was born March 12, 1909, in Brighton, Colo., to Leonard and Elizabeth (Frey) Krambeck. She graduated from Brighton High School in 1926.
She married Richard Ryan on Oct. 31, 1931, in Brighton. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Mrs. Ryan was a homemaker. She was a member of The Order of Eastern Star, the Western Reserve Herbal Society and Silverdale Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane Wold of Poulsbo and Joan Bade of Boynton Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. April 22 at the Masonic Temple, Third and Hostmark, in Poulsbo, with a potluck following at the home of Jane Wold. Private inurnment will be at Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Hospice of Kitsap County, P.O. Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383.

Beatrice Widdas
Beatrice May Widdas, 68, of Port Ludlow died from complications of Hepatitis C April 6, 2001, at her home.
She was born Dec. 3, 1932, in Lansing, Mich., to Harold and Hazel (Schutt) Lloyd. She graduated from Eaton Rapids High School in Eaton Rapids, Mich., and in 1950 from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich.
She married Stanley Widdas on May 9, 1953, in Eaton Rapids. He preceded her in death last year.
Mrs. Widdas enjoyed gardening and books.
Survivors include a son, Scott of Kingston; two daughters, Tracy MacDonnell of Silverdale and Susan Milton of California; two brothers, Eugene Lloyd of Newaygo, Mich., and Douglas Lloyd of Saline, Mich.; a sister, Frances Manigold of Encinitas, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a brother, David Lloyd of Eaton Rapids; and a son, Wade of Whittier, Calif.
Private services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Kosec Funeral Home in Port Townsend.
