Marian Hay
Marian G. Hay, 88, of Port Orchard died March 11, 2001, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bremerton.
She was born Oct. 14, 1912, in Lake Preston, S.D., to Carl and Hannah Gulbranson. She attended Howard High School in Howard, S.D., graduating in 1930.
She later married
Francis "Cy" Young, who preceded her in death in 1985.
Mrs. Hay was a waitress on Bainbridge Island, working at golf courses and other establishments.
She enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include three daughters, Doris Hamro of Kingman, Ariz., Donna Young of Kingston and Kay Jones of Port Orchard; a sister, Gladys Shaw of Flandreau, S.D.; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Lane cemetery. Arrangements are by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Grace Foltz
Grace Foltz, 84, of Bremerton died March 11, 2001, at Bremerton Convalescent Center.
She was born Nov. 18, 1916, in Crow Lake, S.D., to Harry and Ada Rank. She graduated from Hewlitt High School in Hewlitt, Wyo.
She married
Ralph Foltz on Aug. 17, 1938, in Hardin, Mont.
She was a bookkeeper in the family business, Foltz Auto Wrecking of Port Orchard.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Robert of Haslett, Texas, and Richard of Seattle; one daughter, Kay Hill of Fort Pierce, Fla.; three sisters, Florence Wood of Bel Fouche, S.D., Melvina Slimp of Farmington, N.M., and Sylvia Huber of Mitchell, S.D.; five brothers, Harold Rank of Gillette, Wyo., Ernie Rank of Upton, Wyo., Melvin Rank of Fort Thompson, S.D., Roy Rank of Gannvalley, S.D., and John Rank of Port Orchard; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Two brothers, Charlie and Vern Rank, preceded her in death.
A celebration of life is planned for 10 a.m. March 24 at the Firs Apartments.

Bill Davis
Billie "Bill" R. Davis, 73, formerly of Poulsbo, died of a heart attack Feb. 26, 2001, in Perham, Minn.
He was born May 19, 1927, in Fox, Okla., to Miles and Anna (Felker) Davis.
In 1950, he married
the mother of his three children, Bettye Janice Rash. She preceded him in death in 1965. In 1984, he married
his second wife, Linda Papenfuss.
He served in the Marine Corps from 1945 to 1950, earning the rank of corporal. He then served in the Army for 16 years as an armored equipment operator. Mr. Davis achieved the rank of sergeant first class and was awarded the Korean Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Upon retirement, he was a carpenter.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 172 of Bainbridge Island and charter president of Perham Lakes Lions Club of Minnesota.
Survivors include his wife of Minnesota; three sons, Jerry of Poulsbo, Bill of Tacoma and Bobby of Atsugi, Japan; a stepson, Neal Papenfuss of New York Mills, Minn.; two stepdaughters Cheryl Romann and Glenda Wientjes, both of Perham; three sisters, Tommy Jo Corr of Soldotna, Alaska, Francis Gandy of Healdton, Okla., and Mildred Corley of Waco, Texas; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Mac; and two sisters, Mona Davis and Bobby Jean.
Inurnment was held in Healdton, Okla.
David Mitchell
David Francis Mitchell, 36, died March 5, 2001, in Seabeck.
He was born Aug. 4, 1964, in Worcester, Mass., to Edwin and Jeanette (Rene) Mitchell. He graduated from Worcester Vocational Technical High School in 1982.
He married
Barbara Lynn Davi on Dec. 19, 1987, in Worcester.
He served in the Navy for 19 years as an interior communications technician. He achieved the rank of chief petty officer and was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal four times and the Good Conduct Medal, five times.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and reading.
He was a Catholic.
Survivors include his wife; his parents, of Worcester; a son, Joshua David Mitchell of Poulsbo; three daughters; Stephanie Marie Mitchell of Poulsbo, Paula Potter of Woodstock, Conn., and Sharie Potter of Eastford, Conn.; two brothers, Kenneth of Worcester and Bruce of West Hartford, Conn.; and two sisters, Sandra Zaza and Linda Roach, both of Worcester. He was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen.
Private visitation will take place at Tuell-McKee Funeral Home. A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at the Naval Submarine Base Bangor Chapel. Nonmilitary guests need to arrive through the main gate to be admitted on the base. Burial will be at sea.

Blanche Turner
Blanche Turner, 91, of Shelton, died March 3, 2001, in Shelton.
She was born in Bremerton on June 4, 1910. She attended high school in Port Orchard.
She was a homemaker and was a member of the Art Guild.
She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ellen Remington of Olympia; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Turner; and her husband, in 1962.
Visitation is planned from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A funeral service was held Thursday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Cosette Folmer
Cosette (Cozy) L. Folmer, 92, of Belfair, died Jan. 27, 2001, at home.
She was born Oct. 20, 1909, in Seattle to John and Della Thomas. She was educated in Washington.
She worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
She was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Royal Folmer.
A memorial service will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on March 17, 2001, at the Hood Canal F. & N. #288, Masonic Hall in Belfair.

Michael York
Michael A. York, 41, of Port Orchard, died after a lengthy illness, March 3, 2001, in Bremerton.
He was born July 8, 1959, in Bremerton to Janice (Keller) Coleman. He attended South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard.
He enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Survivors include a brother, Jack R. York of Bremerton; a half-brother, Mark Coleman of Port Orchard; and a half- sister, Christie Coleman of Bremerton.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Kitsap Cremation and Burial Society.

Norma Zanonie
Norma Jean Zanonie, 70, of Bremerton, died March 6, 2001, in Bremerton.
She was born May 21, 1930, in Bremerton to Andrew and Ida (Lindstrom). She was a 1948 graduate of Bremerton High School.
She worked for Sears, and later became a legal secretary for the Garland Law Office, retiring in 1988.
Survivors include her father, of Bremerton; a sister, Gloria Olsen of Seattle; and a brother, Chris Zanonie of Bremerton.
At the family's request, no service will be held. Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Crematory under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Inez Stock
Inez Lucille Stock, 85, of Bremerton, died Feb. 12, 2001, at Cottesmore Life Care Center in Gig Harbor.
She was born March 8, 1915, near Raymond to Arthur and Jeanette (Long) Hunt. She attended Hamilton High School in Hamilton.
She married
William "Bill" Stock on May 15, 1953. He preceded her in death in 1978.
She was a barber for 20 years.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis and Lester Hunt of Bremerton and Arthur Hunt of Oregon.
Mrs. Stock requested that no service be held.

Evelyn Parker
Evelyn J. Parker, 82, of Port Orchard died March 7, 2001, at Ridgemont Terrace in Port Orchard.
She was born March 17, 1918, in Bowe to Alton and Ann (Stokes) Gross. She attended South Kitsap High School.
She married
Harold "Frank" Parker on Jan. 7, 1986, in Reno, Nev.
She was a homemaker and member of the Gig Harbor Eagles.
She was protestant.
Survivors include her husband; two sisters, Willetta "Billie" Vanderbilt of Manchester and Gloria Gross of Idaho. She was preceded in death by a brother, Alton "Bub" Gross; and half sister, Lillian Kilcoyne.
A graveside service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Lane cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill chapel.

Barbara Sleiertin
Barbara Ann Sleiertin, 61, of Newport, R.I., died of metastasized breast cancer Feb. 27, 2001, at her home.
She was born Aug. 17, 1939, in Bremerton to Clifford and Helen (Reynolds) Patterson. She graduated from Central Kitsap High School in 1957 and Olympic College in 1959.
On March 21, 1964, she married
Robert A. Sleiertin in New York City.
She worked for United Airlines from 1960 to 1964 and for Fleet Bank from 1980 to 2000.
She was a volunteer for the Girl Scouts of Rhode Island and a teacher in the Religious Education program at St. Augustin's Church in Newport.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Robert of Santa Barbara, Calif., Stephan (location unknown) and Kenneth of Palm Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Diana Placidi of Muskegon, Mich.; three brothers, Lloyd and Charles Patterson, both of Bremerton, and Francis Patterson of Tracyton; one sister, Morna Blessing of Bremerton; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Robert, Frank, Claude, Jim and Carl Patterson; and one sister, Esther (Patterson) Stewart.
Services have already been held. Arrangements were by O'Neill-Hayes Funeral Home In Newport.
