Alice Boley
Alice Clara Hiltbrand Boley, 92, of Bremerton, died Feb. 26, 2001, in Bremerton.
She was born Jan. 28, 1909, in Pocatello, Idaho, to David and Ida (Olson) Hiltbrand. She graduated from Pocatello High School in 1928 and Idaho Falls Hospital School of Nursing in 1932.
She married
Ray Boley on Nov. 12, 1956, in Bremerton. He preceded her in death in 1996.
She was a nurse for 29 years, retiring in 1963.
She enjoyed doing tatting and embroidery.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include; a daughter, Carol Sylvester of Bremerton; two brothers, Leland and Jeanne Hiltbrand of Nebraska; two sisters, Thelma Baldwin and Dolores "Dolly" Hiltbrand; and one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by siblings Dr. J. Wesley Hiltbrand, Edna Wallin,
Ida Christensen, David C. Hiltbrand, Clarence A. Hiltbrand, Wayne F. Hiltbrand and a grandson, Troy Sylvester.
A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints Chapel, 2225, Perry Ave. in Bremerton. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.
Frank Keim
Francis "Frank" L. Keim, 72, of Kingston, died Feb. 28, 2001, at Vencor Hospital in Seattle.
He was born Oct. 11, 1928, in Shidler, Okla., to Clarence and Johannah (Meyer) Keim. He graduated from Shidler High School in 1947. He attended Western Washington University in Bellingham.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
He married
Shirley Hooker on Dec. 14, 1950, in Bellingham.
He owned and operated a maintenance company for 30 years, retiring in 1990.
He enjoyed helping his children and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a member of the Kingston Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Eric of Poulsbo, Kevin of San Clemente, Calif., and Paul of Oceanside, Calif.; two daughters, Rachel Keim of Leeds, Mass., and Cynthia Keim-Miller of Kingston; two sisters, Ruby Itchek, of Los Alamitos, Calif., and Agnes Storm of Oklahoma; two brothers, Robert of Spokane and Vernon of Florence, Ore.; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbert Mercer and Bill Keim; and a sister Vera Mercer.
A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Sunday at the Kingston Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.

Martha Collins
Martha E. Collins, 86, of Kingston, died Feb. 24, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Jan. 21, 1915, in Tipton, Ind., to James and Agusta (Norick) Durham.
She married
Howard Collins on April 7, 1935, in Indiana. He preceded her in death in 1979.
She worked as a bookkeeper at a Kingston real estate office.
She was a member of the Kingston Christian Church and its preschool program.
Survivors include two sons, Robert of Tucson, Ariz., and Daniel of Orange, Calif.; two daughters, Judith Collins of Edmonds and Cynthia Eschrich of Lynnwood; a sister, Rachel Kirby of Mount Dora, Fla; a brother, James Durham of Stanton, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Kingston Christian Church, 11255 N.E. 2nd Ave., in Kingston. Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.

Joesph Carter
Former Port Orchard resident Joesph Carter, 67, of Las Vegas died of heart failure resulting from emphysema Feb. 11, 2001, at Henderson Hospital in Henderson, Nev.
He was born Jan. 16, 1934, in Whitley City, Ky., to John and Grace Carter.
He married
his wife, Vaneda, on Feb. 12, 1983, in Bremerton.
Mr. Carter served in the Navy from 1952 to 1972, achieving the rank of chief petty officer. He was a Korean and Vietnam War veteran.
He was an electrician at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 21 years, retiring in 1993.
Mr. Carter was a member of the Eagles, Fleet Reserve and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Charles Dutton of Bremerton, and Keith and Jammy Starr, both of Burlington; a daughter, Monnievee Carr of Port Orchard; two brothers, John Jr. of Bowling Green, Ky., and Ted of Chelan; three sisters, Joyce Marcum and Barbara Elmer, both of Whitley City and Phylis Strunk of Sidney, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Retsil Veterans Chapel in Retsil.
Loren Carrigan
Former Bremerton resident Loren H. Carrigan, 78, of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, died Feb. 8, 2001, in Coeur d' Alene.
He was born Oct. 8, 1922, in Okabena, Minn., to Charles and Helen Carrigan. He graduated in 1940 from Lakefield High School in Minnesota.
He served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946 as a shipfitter second class.
He married
Hazel Wright in 1947. She preceded him in death in 1971. He married
Lucile Riggs in 1977.
He was a welder in Shop 26 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 29 years, retiring in 1977.
He enjoyed golf and bowling.
He was a member of the Eagles.
He was a Presbyterian.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Michael Carrigan of Port Orchard, John Carrigan of Bremerton, Gary Riggs of Portland, Ore., and Dennis Riggs of California; three daughters, Christine Whiteman of Idaho, Nancy Frandisen and Cathrine Gaynor, both of California; three brothers, Milburn, Melbourn and Albertus, all of Minnesota; a sister, Corine Hohenstien of Minnesota; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Weldon, Lloyd and Victor; and two sisters, Ruth Carrigan and June Abrahamson.
No service is planned.

Nancy Campbell
Nancy J. Campbell, 74, of Port Orchard died Feb. 23, 2001, at Cottesmore of Life Care in Gig Harbor.
She was born March 21, 1926, in Ellwood City, Pa., to Gail and Louise (Zeigler) Morrison. She attended Lincoln High School in Ellwood City.
She married
William Campbell on Aug. 8, 1947, in Chewton, Pa.
She was a sales clerk for Sears & Roebuck for 25 years, retiring in 1981.
She was a member of Eastern Star and the Daughters of American Revolution.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Gary of Kansas City, Mo.; four daughters, Carolyn Rought and Susanna King, both of Port Orchard, Karen Vlach of Spanaway and Connie Reid of Hoquiam; a brother, David Morrison of San Diego; a sister, Patricia Rankin of Folsom, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Chuck and Gail Morrison.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sunset Lane cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Ruth Swinburne
Ruth J. Swinburne, 74, of Gig Harbor died of cancer Feb. 25, 2001, in Tacoma.
She was born June 12, 1926, in Long Island, N.Y., to Hans and Ragnhild (Carlsen) Jacobsen. She graduated from high school in Chicago.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and being with her grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Jean Cox of Silverdale and Peggy Dodge of Tacoma; a brother, Harry Jacobsen of Boca Raton, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
Service may be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Thomas Gwilliam
Thomas Dale Gwilliam, 71, of Silverdale died of natural causes Feb. 23, 2001, in Bremerton.
He was born March 15, 1929, in Murray, Utah, to Thomas Valentine and Pauline Matilda (Bigler) Gwilliam. He graduated in 1947 from Granite High School in Salt Lake City.
He married
Edna Jeanine Dundas on April 12, 1946, in Murray.
Mr. Gwilliam was a carpenter and construction supervisor for 28 years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include his wife of Salt Lake City; three sons, Thomas of Sandy, Utah, Brian of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and Barney of St. George, Utah; four daughters, Kristine Boswell of Silverdale, Paula Bray of Sandy, Debra Stephens of Pleasant Grove and Carrie Detwiler of Hagerstown, Md.; 42 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held in Sandy, with interment at Larkin Sunset Memorial Gardens there. Local arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Dee Schofield
Former Allyn resident Sarah L. "Dee" Schofield, 89, of Seattle died of heart failure Feb. 20, 2001, in Seattle.
She was born Sept. 28, 1911, in Yakima to Phoebe (Knause) Kalman.
She was a civilian for the Navy and also worked for Borden Chemical Company in Seattle.
She enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Survivors include three sons, Jim Knight of Seattle, Emmett Knight of Arizona and Richard Knight of Allyn; a daughter, Maureen Knight of Seattle; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Schofield, in 1956.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Allyn Baptist Church, 221 E. Lakeland Drive in Allyn.
Memorial donations may be made to the Nature Conservancy, the Red Cross or to Fire District 5 in Mason County.
Bruce Jarrett
Bruce Jarrett, 71, of Port Orchard died of complications from multiple myeloma Feb. 22, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Aug. 27, 1929, in Dumas, Texas, to Harry and Thelma (Parsons) Jarrett. He graduated in 1946 from Fort Davis High School in Fort Davis, Texas, and attended Texas A&M University and the University of Washington.
He married
Lettie Ann Colwell on April 5, 1952, in Las Vegas. She preceded him in death in 2000.
Mr. Jarrett served in the Navy from 1948 to 1970, achieving the rank of lieutenant commander. He received two bronze stars and two air medals.
Mr. Jarrett later was a commercial fisherman, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of the Port Orchard Yacht Club and Burley-Glenwood Baptist Church, serving as an Ambassador for Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Ed of Bremerton and Steve of Port Orchard; a daughter, Audrey of Port Orchard; a brother, Paul of San Diego; a sister, Audine Culpepper of Plainview, Texas; and eight grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis.
A memorial service is planned for 4 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Port Orchard, 2308 Sidney, with inurnment at Sunset Lane cemetery, also in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
