John Lowell
John Laurence Lowell, 77, of Bremerton died Feb. 20, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born April 27, 1923, in Seattle to George and Alice (Dorie) Lowell.
He served in the Air Force for more than 20 years. He later owned John L. Lowell Insurance Co.
He was commander of D.A.V. in Gorst and was a former Veterans of Foreign Wars officer.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling and fly fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia of Bremerton; a son, Tery of Gresham, Ore.; a daughter, Diane Crabtree of Grapeview; a brother, Elton of Henderson, Nev.; a sister, Louise Brain of Henderson; and six grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Artondale cemetery in Gig Harbor. Arrangements are under the direction of Haven of Rest Funeral Home.
Marilyn Scully
Marilyn Scully, 50, of Bremerton died Feb. 8, 2001, at her home of cancer.
She was born May 6, 1950, in Bakersfield, Calif., to Paul and Elizabeth Rard Driscoll. She graduated from Our Lady Perpetual Help Catholic School in Bakersfield in 1968, and attended California State University in Hayward.
She married
Michael Scully on June 19, 1976.
Mrs. Scully had worked as a jeweler for 20 years.
She was a member of the Rotary Club in Silverdale and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include her husband; her mother; three daughters, Megan and Lindsey Scully, both of Bremerton, and Erin Scully of Seattle; and two sisters, Helen Adams of Kingston and Ann Walworth of Shafter, Calif.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kitsap Cremation and Burial Society. Memorial donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
James Plumb
James Leroy Plumb, 70, of Corpus Christi, Texas, formerly of Port Orchard, died Jan. 5, 2001, in Corpus Christi of liver dysfunction.
He was born in Edmonds on March 6, 1931, to Morgan and Loretta Batten Plumb. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1950, and also from Northwest Bible College in Kirkland.
He married
Margret Chocoder on Aug. 30, 1950.
Mr. Plumb was a member of the Assemblies of God.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Timothy Andrew Plumb of Orlando, Fla., and Terrance Mark Plumb of Corpus Christi; two daughters, Dawn Kleinkauf of Fort Worth, Texas, and Candace Plumb of Greenfield, Mass.; a brother, Tom of Aberdeen; four sisters, Josephine Thumma of Port Orchard, Betty Jean Wyatt of Tehuancana, Texas, Mary Skelton of Alamorgordo, N.M., and Ellen Fields of Bremerton; and four grandchildren.
A private service was at Sawyer-George Funeral Home in Corpus Christi.
Elizabeth Shahda
Elizabeth T. Shahda, 70, of Bremerton died Feb. 13, 2001, at Belmont Terrace.
She was born Dec. 19, 1930, in Germany to Reinhold and Margarete Stutzer Strube. She attended school in Germany.
She worked for Washington State Ferries.
Survivors include a brother, Helmut Strube of Germany; and a sister, Marlis Dorl of Germany.
Inurnment will take place at 1 p.m. Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Herbert Atkins
Herbert D. "Tex" Atkins, 74, of Bremerton died Feb. 16, 2001, in Omak.
He was born June 21, 1926, in Altus, Okla.
He served in the Navy.
He was the owner of the television department of Merit Mart/Value Giant in East Bremerton during the 1980s. He also owned the Leisure Village Hotel in Omak.
Survivors include a son, J. Scott of Oregon; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma; and a son Carey "Gig" Atkins.
Visitation and a funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday at Jones and Jones Funeral Home in Wenatchee.
Edna Enos
Edna Lucille Enos, 81, of Bremerton died Feb. 15, 2001, at Bremerton Convalescent Center.
She was born May 1, 1919, in Vinland to Henry and Clara (Bergen) Halverson. She attended Briedablik School in Washington.
She married
John Enos on June 29, 1940, in Poulsbo. He preceded her in death in 1995.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and dancing.
Survivors include two sons, William of Poulsbo and John of Bremerton; three sisters, Betty Enos and Mary Pitts, both of Bremerton, and Barbara Foreman of Poulsbo; three sisters, Florence Paulson of Poulsbo, Delores Hayse of Port Townsend and Mabel Kadelchek of Port Ludlow; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Anne Halverson, Ann Kincaid and Helen Maki; and four brothers, Lawrence, Clarence, Rhuben and Eddie.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday at Vinland Lutheran Church. Inurnment will take place at Vaughn cemetery in Vaughn. Arrangements are under the direction of Kitsap Cremation and Burial Society.
Memorial donations may be made to Bremerton Convalescent Center or a charity of the donor's choice.
Marlene McDonald
Marlene McDonald, 65, of Bremerton died of cancer Feb. 16, 2001, at home.
She was born May 30, 1935, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to Wesley and Lucile Boote Benaway.
She enjoyed tai chi and volunteering at the senior center.
Survivors include seven children, three brothers, 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one of her children.
William Polhamus
The funeral service for William Polhamus has been rescheduled for 12:30 p.m. Friday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton.
The service was postponed because of last week's snowfall. Arrange-ments are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Al Lieseke
Albert "Al" Lieseke, 76, of Port Orchard died Feb. 18, 2001, in Bremerton.
He was born Nov. 4, 1924, in Everett to Fritz and Mary Lieseke. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1942 and served in the Navy from 1942 until 1944.
He married
Jeanne Bayless on April 21, 1946, in Port Orchard.
Mr. Lieseke owned and operated private ferries and the Sinclair Tow Boat Co. for 60 years, retiring in 1998. He loved boats and hunting.
He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Cynthia of Port Orchard, Lana of Allyn, Marna of Ridgefield and Dana of Lynnwood; a sister, Linda Croix of Port Orchard; and four grandchildren.
A public visitation will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at Rill Chapel, with a celebration gathering of friends and family from 3 to 5 p.m.
John Johanson
John L. Johanson, 75, of Port Orchard died Feb. 13, 2001, at Harrison Hospital of leukemia.
He was born Nov. 11, 1925, in Seattle to John G. and Anna (Gronberg) Johanson. He gradu-ated from South Kitsap High School in 1945 and the University of Washington in 1950.
He served in the Air Force from 1946 to 1948 and married
Evelyn Lavik on June 18, 1949, in Tacoma.
He retired in 1991 after a career that included work as a health-care administrator with the Belair Nursing Home in Tacoma and as an industrial hygienist with Boeing.
He was a member of the Bremerton Sons of Norway, the Port Orchard Kiwanis Club and Elim Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Harold of Seattle and Gary of Burnaby, B.C.; two daughters, Nancy Johanson Paul of Hood River, Ore., and Patricia Johanson of Tacoma; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Johanson Boehme.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Elim Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rill Chapel.

Democrito C. Ibarra, 87, of Bremerton died Feb. 15, 2001, at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Dec. 15, 1913, in San Antonio, Guagua, Pampanga, Philippines, to Alejandro and Maria (Capati) Ibarra.
He married
Rosita A. Andrade.
Mr. Ibarra enjoyed reading. He was a member of the Philippine Independent Church.
Survivors include his wife; 10 sons, Carlos, Virgilio, Demetrio, Jaime, Dante and Victor, all of Bremerton, Romeo, Alfredo and Augusto, all of Oxnard, Calif., and Danilo of the Philippines; five daughters, Aida Songco of Bremerton, Maria Bansil, Patricia Veran and Rosalinda Tuano, all of Oxnard, Calif., and Priscilla Ibarra of the Philippines; two sisters, Amanda Taylo of Canada and Remedios Gutierrez of the Philippines; 59 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosario Oblepias of Oxnard, Calif.
Visitation began Saturday, continues from noon to 8 p.m. today at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home, and from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bremerton.
A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, followed by a graveside service at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Johnny Marquis
Johnny Frederick Marquis, 43, of Bremerton died Feb. 15, 2001, at his home.
He was born May 27, 1957, in Ridgecrest, Calif., where he was reared and educated. He graduated from Burroughs High School in Ridgecrest.
On July 23, 1983, he married
Debora "Debbie" Caraker in Las Vegas.
He was manager at Liberty Bay Transmissions.
He was a member of Sylvan Way Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his mother and stepfather, Barbara McGuire and Bud Alfred, both of Ridgecrest; two sons, Jason and Nathan, both of Bremerton; a daughter, Melissa of Bremerton; a sister Keri Marquis of Redding, Calif.; and two brothers, Robert Marquis and David Alfred, both of Ridgecrest.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Monday at Sylvan Way Baptist Church,
900 Sylvan Way, Bremerton.
Cremation will be at Cherry Grove Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
