Leona Campbell
Leona I. Campbell, 92, of Bremerton died Jan. 31, 2001, at Edmonds Rehabilitation Center in Edmonds.
She was born Aug. 31, 1908, to John B. and Josephine (Lingenfelter) Neuert in Milton Freewater, Ore.
On July 3, 1929, she married
Harry E. Campbell. He preceded her in death in 1997.
She was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service.
Survivors include one son, Dennis of Lynnwood; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Sally Sullivan, in 1998.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Verna McDowell
Verna Idella McDowell, 85, of Belfair died Feb. 4, 2001, in Belfair.
She was born Aug. 19, 1915, in Naches to Oscar and Idella (Jones) Busey.
She graduated from Naches High School in 1933. She attended the Washington State Normal School in Ellensburg.
On Dec. 9, 1938, she married
Ted McDowell in Yakima. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Mrs. McDowell was a member of the Lower Naches Garden Club, the Grange Women's Club and Selah United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan Greer of Marion, Va.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Selah United Methodist Church, with inurnment at Terrace Heights cemetery in Yakima. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Leslie Marks
Leslie Ervin Marks, 79, of Tacoma died Feb. 3, 2001, at Bel Air Rehabilitation Center in Tacoma.
He was born Oct. 29, 1921, in Reynolds, Neb., to Emanuel and Mary (Groathouse) Marks.
He served with the Army during World War II.
He lived in Bremerton for many years, working as a laborer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
Survivors include two sons, Laurence of Federal Way and John of Lubbock, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday, also at Lewis Funeral Chapel, with interment at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Carl Nordin
Carl Alfred Nordin, 77, of Bremerton died Feb. 4, 2001, at Bremerton Convalescent Center.
He was born June 28, 1923, in Sweden to Erick and Christina (Schedven) Nordin.
He was raised and educated in Portland, Ore., and served in the Army during World War II.
On May 11, 1976, he married
Doris Black in Lake Tahoe, Calif. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Nordin was an electrician in Shop 51 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard from 1956 until his retirement in 1983.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Fraternal Order of Eagles 192.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Tami Schmittler of Seabeck and Gayle Chipps of Port Orchard; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter in 1996.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Forest Lawn cemetery, with arrangements by Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Frank Petrilli
Frank Petrilli, 81, of Bremerton died Feb. 1, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born June 28, 1919, in Newcastle, Pa., to Caesar and Amalia (Baldasare) Petrilli.
He married
Janet Blackwood on Sept. 16, 1990, in Bremerton.
He served in the Army from 1940 to 1965, achieving the rank of chief warrant officer.
He enjoyed playing and teaching music.
He was Catholic.
Survivors include his wife; a stepson, Gary Blackwood of Tucson, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Karen Bickel of Grass Valley, Calif.; four sisters, Lillian Humphrey, Teresa Nocera, Josephine Delorenzo and Helen Call, all of Newcastle; and two grandchildren.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. Interment
will be at Arlington National cemetery.
Gary Ellinger
Gary Errol Ellinger, 56, of Bremerton died of cancer Feb. 3, 2001, at home.
He was born Feb. 18, 1944, in Chaffee, Mo.
He married
Georgia Hernandez in Reno, Nev.
He worked at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for more than 30 years.
He enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, Hazel Arondale of Arkansas; two sons, Gilbert Ellinger of Riverside, Calif., and Michael Sanchez of Boise, Idaho; two daughters, Christine Cichy and Patricia Marin of Riverside, Calif.; two brothers, Larry and Joe; and 20 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Woodlawn.
David Southwick
David Lee Southwick, 54, of Gig Harbor died Jan. 26, 2001.
He retired in 1998 after 30 years in education. He was principal of Discovery Elementary from 1980 to 1985 and of Minter Creek from 1985 to 1997.
He enjoyed the outdoors and traveling with his wife.
Survivors include a son, David of Virginia Beach, Va.; his parents, Dave and Irma of Grants Pass, Ore.; a brother, Alan of Grants Pass; and a granddaughter.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. today at the Harbor Covenant Church, 5601 Gustafson Dr. NW, Gig Harbor. Arrangements are under the direction of Haven of Rest, Gig Harbor.

Betty Southwick
Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Southwick, 55, of Gig Harbor died Jan. 26, 2001.
She was a 1963 graduate of South Kitsap High School and attended Central Washington University.
She was a teaching assistant in elementary grades for five years.
She loved gardening and traveling with her dog and cats.
Survivors include a son, David of Virginia Beach, Va.; her parents, Walter and Dorothy Granquist of Port Orchard; three sisters, Joyce Adams of Olympia, Sally Levin of Beaverton, Ore., and Nancy Granquist of Port Orchard; and a granddaughter.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. today at the Harbor Covenant Church, 5601 Gustafson Dr. NW, Gig Harbor. Arrangements are under the direction of Haven of Rest, Gig Harbor.

Robert Maupin
Robert W. Maupin, 68, of Bremerton died of cancer Jan. 30, 2001, at Veterans Administration American Lake Hospital.
He was born Jan. 26, 1933, in Chicago to John and Winifred Maupin.
He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955, achieving the rank of corporal. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He was a disabled American veteran.
He enjoyed going to the library and riding Kitsap Transit.
He was a member of Sylvan Way Baptist Church.
He is survived by a sister, Jo Fulton of Port Isabel, Texas.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at Tahoma National cemetery.
Harold Moeller
Harold Dennis Moeller, 51, of Des Moines, Iowa, who lived in Port Orchard in 1996-97, died Jan. 26, 2001, in Omaha, Neb., the result of an automobile accident.
He was born July 2, 1949, in Harrington to William and Agnes Simpson Moeller. He graduated
from high school there.
He was married
to Donna Goleman Moeller in Pinole, Calif. She survives him in Des Moines.
He served in the military for 20 years, as a military policeman in the Air Force and boiler technician in the Navy. He retired in 1989.
He enjoyed fishing and bow hunting. He was a member of the apostolic faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Agnes Moeller, in Harrington; a son, Jerome Goleman of Des Moines; two daughters, Stacie Lynn Moeller of Yerrington, Nev., and Jennifer Lynn Reynolds of Olympia; two brothers, Paul of Germany and Ronald of Harrington; a sister, Karen Moeller of Seattle; and two grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Tahoma National cemetery. Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel is handling arrangements.
Nellie Talley
Nellie E. Talley, 90, of Port Orchard died Feb. 2, 2001, at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Aug. 23, 1910, in Arley, Ala. She married
William Talley on Jan. 20, 1935, in Culman, Ala. He died in 1984.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by three sons, James and Carl, both of Port Orchard, and William of Yuma, Ariz.; three daughters, Colean Walthall and Barbara Osborne, both of Port Orchard, and Linda Jones of Barstow, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, 10 siblings preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church with burial to follow at 12:30 p.m. at Sunset Lane cemetery.
