Kathryn Nothwang Lynch
Kathryn Nothwang Lynch, 74, of Bremerton died Oct. 26, 1998, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct.5, 1924, to Clara I. (Cupp) and Ludwig F. Nothwang in Canon City, Colo.
She was raised in Bremerton and graduated from Bemerton High School in 1942.
Mrs. Lynch attended Whitworth College and received her B.S. degree from Washington State College.
In 1946, she married
John William Lynch in Bremerton.
She was a home economics teacher for the Bremerton School District from 1951 until her retirement in 1981.
She was a member of the Reliance Chapter of Eastern Star and a member and Worthy Matron of Elinor Chapter of Eastern Star.
She volunteered with the Crisis Clinic of Kitsap County and Literacy Council of Kitsap County and was a member of what is now called the Lincoln Avenue Bible Church since its establishment.
Survivors include a son, David C. Lynch of Tucson; a daughter, Judith K. Maurer of Hoquiam; a brother, Louis Nothwang of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; a sister, Clara Needham of Somers, Mont.; and four grandchildren, Molly Lynch of Tucson, Matthew Maurer of Aberdeen, Darren and Jonathan Maurer of Hoquiam.
She was preceded in death by grandchild Geoffrey Lynch.
A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Nov. 14 at Lincoln Avenue Bible Church, 13th Street and Lincoln Avenue, Bremerton.

Ruby Mayer
Ruby Mayer, 81, of Bremerton died Oct. 30, 1998, of lung cancer.
She was born Nov. 9, 1916, in Dodge, N.D., to Paul P. and Henrieta (Hanson) Fritz. She was raised and educated in Bremerton.
Survivors include a brother, Roger Fritz of Aberdeen; and a sister, Edith Gramling of Elma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Mayer in 1973, and then by her companion, Ray Blackwood.
No services are scheduled. Interment
will be at Miller Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Doris Hatcher
Doris Delores Hatcher, 91, of Bremerton died Oct. 30, 1998, at Harrison Memorial Hospital, from cardiac arrest.
She was born May 10, 1907, in Missouri Valley, Iowa, to Claude and Mabel (McElroy) Cook. She was raised in Missouri Valley, graduating from Missouri Valley High School in 1924.
On Aug. 18, 1925, she married
Clarence P. Hatcher in Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1985.
Mrs. Hatcher made her living working in the supply department at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard until her retirement.
She was a 40-year member of the Women's Choral Society of Bremerton and a member of the Kitsap Lake Homemakers Club.
Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Sharon of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Phylliss Robertson of Bremerton and Kathi Snyder of Rochester.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, Marguerite Benson.
There will be a gathering in her remembrance at 1 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Miller Woodlawn Friendship Room.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Stephen Wells
Stephen Wells, 55, died Oct. 31, 1998, from lung cancer.
He was born July 8, 1943.
He was employed by the Washington State Ferry System.
Survivors include his companion, Danielle Bowman; two sons, David Lee and Patrick Byron Weels; a daughter, Elizabeth Marie Evensen; and a brother, Michael Byron Wells.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 7 at the Retsil Veterans Home Chapel in Port Orchard. A clean and sober potluck celebration of his life will follow the service.

Cynthia Veth
Cynthia "Cyndi" Veth, 43, of Bremerton died Oct. 31, 1998, at her home, following a lengthy battle with a brain tumor.
She was born Nov. 12, 1954, at McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma to Ron and Mary Lou Williams. She was raised in Bremerton, graduating from Central Kitsap High School in 1973.
On Feb. 14, 1979, she married
Gary Veth in Bremerton.
Mrs. Veth made her living as a special education instructional assistant at Tracyton Elementary School.
Survivors include her husband; her parents; her grandparents, Mac and Daisy McBride of Bremerton; a son, Noah of Bremerton; a daughter, Nicole of Bremerton; and a sister, Denise of Ephrata.
Visitation will be at Lewis Funeral Chapel from 1 to 6 p.m. Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 4, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 5, when the funeral service will held. A time of fellowship will be conducted with the family from
3 to 5 p.m. at the Howard Johnson's Hotel, Kitsap Way.

Robert Martin
Robert E. "Bob" Martin, 78, of Port Orchard died Oct. 31, 1998, of natural causes.
He was born April 7, 1920, in Bremerton to Robert M. and Margarete (Cooper) Martin. He was raised in Kitsap County.
Mr. Martin served in the Army. He made his living as a tool maker for 43 years at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Keyport, until his retirement in 1986.
He was a member of the Sons of Norway and the Kitsap Flying Club.
Survivors include his companion of over 20 years, Bev Cardell of Port Orchard; a stepson, Jim Martin of Poulsbo; a brother, Donald Martin of Sun City West, Ariz.; and a sister, Eunice Bullock of Seattle.
At Mr. Martin's request, no services have been scheduled.

Ervin Reasons
Ervin Reasons, 87, of Poulsbo died Dec. 29, 1998, at his daughter's home in Brownsville.
He was born Oct. 19, 1911, in Patmos, Ark., to William and Josephine (Reece) Reasons. He was raised and educated in Arkansas.
On Sept. 29, 1939, he married
LaFrance Simmons in Reno, Nev.
Mr. Reasons served in the Army. He worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in the Blacksmith Shop, at Bremerton Bottling Company and then at Keyport, retiring in 1975.
He was on the board for the Girl Scouts, was scoutmaster for Chico Troop 516, was active with the Pee-Wees and a member of the Eagles, the Elks, the Poggie Club of Kitsap County. He also was a founding member of the Kitsap Lake Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Joe of Port Orchard and Charles of Buffalo, N.Y.; a daughter, Barbara of Poulsbo; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 2 at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Cremation will be at Cherry Grove Memorial Park with inurnment at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Cecil Leigh
Longtime Bremerton resident, Cecil Jack Leigh, 71, died Dec. 27, 1998, at his home in Chimacum, of natural causes.
He was born Feb. 21, 1927, in Evansville, Ind., to Charles and Pansy (Sexton) Leigh. He was raised and educated in Evansville, Ind.
On June 8, 1949, he married
Edith Arlene Green in Port Orchard.
Mr. Leigh served in the Army from 1945 to 1946 in Adak, Alaska, retiring as a corporal. He worked at the Bangor Ammunition Depot and Keyport Torpedo Station as a pipefitter from 1951 to 1972, retiring after 21 years of civil service employment.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Juanita Brenner of Cadiz, Ky., Janice Barrett of Evansville, Ind., and Patricia Leigh of Seattle; three grandchildren of Evansville, Ind.; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles, in 1977.
At his request, there will be no formal service.
His family would enjoy sharing memories from his life with anyone who would like to join them at an open house coffee hour from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Jan 17 in the Club Hall of the Escapee Camp Ground at 2481 Anderson Lake Road, Chimacum.
Valerie Schiefen
Valerie P. Schiefen, 48, of Bremerton died Dec. 23, 1998, in Seattle.
She was born Nov. 4, 1950, in Memphis, Tenn.
Survivors include her husband of 14 years, Martin Schiefen; and two daughters, LaTarra McNutt and Latoya Williams, both of Memphis, Tenn.
A private family service was conducted.
