Lon James
Lon. C. James, 70, formerly of Bremerton, died of a heart attack Jan. 25, 2001, in Sedro-Woolley.
He was born Sept. 19, 1930, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Tom and Evelyn Bray James.
He was in the Navy from 1948 to 1952.
He served as a police officer in Bremerton from 1956 to 1964 then as police chief for the city of Ocean Shores. He worked for Skagit Valley College as plant engineer until he retired in 1986.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as being a member of the Ocean Shores Elks Lodge and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his companion, Earlene White of Sedro-Wooley; two sons, Lon of Bremerton and Robert of Shoreline; and three grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel of Sedro-Woolley.

Ruby May
Ruby May, 81, of Tacoma and formerly of Port Orchard died Jan. 28, 2001, at Franciscan Health Center.
She was born Dec. 5, 1919, in McPherson, Kan., to Abraham and Ida (Reich) Unruh. She was a 1937 graduate of Montezuma High School in Kansas.
She married
John E. May on Jan. 29, 1940, in Kansas. He preceded her in death in 1973.
Mrs. May was a mother and homemaker who enjoyed gardening and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Survivors include three sons, John of Germany, James of Winnepeg, Canada, and Joseph of Arlington; two daughters, Suzanne Wilson and Nancy Wall of Tacoma; a brother, Elmer Unruh of Montezuma; a sister, Emma Voth of Garden City, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lillie Yoth.
Visitation is planned from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home with the funeral immediately following. Interment
will take place at Sunset Lane cemetery.

Helen Swope
Helen Joyce Swope, 58, of Bremerton died Jan. 26, 2001, at home.
She was born Oct. 25, 1942, in Prescott, Ark., to Robert and Grace (Townsend) Brown. She was a 1959 graduate of Richmond High School in Richmond, Calif.
She married
Ralph Swope on Aug. 7, 1959, in Carson City, Nev.
She was a homemaker and mother who enjoyed crafts and traveling.
Survivors include her husband; her mother of Prescott; a son, William of Purdy; a daughter, Lonnda Paige of Gig Harbor; a sister, Barbara Scott of Prescott; a brother, Boyce Brown of Hope, Ark.; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael, in 1960; and two sisters, Savaw Greenhalgh in 1967 and Patricia McCall in 1972.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Cremation will take place at Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.

Anita Walker
Anita Louise Walker, 79, of Port Orchard died Jan. 27, 2001, at Regional Hospital in Tukwila.
She was born Nov. 3, 1921, in Franklin, N.C., to Lee and Nell (Mull) McClure. She was a 1938 graduate of Franklin High School in Franklin, N.C. She attended Wilson Modern Business College in Seattle.
She married
Robert Pringle Walker on Feb. 27, 1942, in Seattle.

Fred Olson
Fred C. Olson, 83, of Bremerton died Jan. 28, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Feb. 17, 1917, in Brigham City, Utah, to Edgar and Jeannette (Nilson) Olson.
He married
Connie Ingman on Feb. 16, 1957, in Bremerton.
He worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Shop No. 64 as a woodworker for 30 years, retiring in 1972.
He was a member of the Elks.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Marleen Putnam of Lynnwood, Linda Wiley of Star, Idaho, and Merrilyn Larson of Bonney Lake; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Doyle and Clarence of Salt Lake City; and a sister, Edna Carson of Bremerton.
A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Beauferd Anderson
The Rev. Beauferd L. Anderson, 73, of Port Orchard died Jan. 27, 2001, at home.
He was born Nov. 14, 1927, in La Moure, N.D., to Lawrence and Bertha (Hanson) Anderson. He attended Cleveland High School in Verona, N.D. He graduated in 1970 from Concordia Theological Lutheran Seminary in Spring-field, Ill.
He married
Frances Bolan on Sept. 3, 1948, in Seattle.
He served in the Air Force from 1946 to 1966, achieving the rank of master sergeant and earning the World War II Victory Medal and the Korean Service Medal.
He was an air-traffic controller in the Air Force.
The Rev. Anderson served as a Lutheran pastor in Wyoming for 25 years.
He retired from the ministry in 1987.
He attended Bethany Lutheran Church and worked to serve his faith.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Bruce of Port Orchard; a daughter, Jocelyn Scott of Green River, Wyo.; two sisters, Janice McClaskey of Ephrata and Shirley Cook of Vancouver, Wash.; three brothers, Kenneth of Bremerton, Howard of Seattle and Larry of Bonnie Lake.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Jerochim and Lois Smith.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Port Orchard. Inurnment will be held at Tahoma National cemetery at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Harry Moran
Harry John Moran, 81, died of cancer Jan. 23, 2001, at his Port Orchard residence.
He was born July 16, 1919, in Portland, Ore., to John and Emma (Ehlers) Moran. He graduated in 1937 from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard.
He married
Melba Siegner in 1942 in Port Orchard.
Mr. Moran served in the Army during World War II.
He was an apprentice sheet metal worker before serving in the Army. He worked as a telephone technician for Pacific Northwest Bell for 36 years, retiring in 1983.
He enjoyed being a volunteer firefighter for 19 years for the Yukon Harbor Fire Department in Colby.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cynthia Frawley of Los Angeles and Diane Kilgore of Port Orchard; a brother, Ray Anderson of Port Orchard; and a sister, Mary Martin of Port Orchard.
At his request there will be a private family service. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Lynn Mobley
Carol "Lynn" Mobley, 54, of Gig Harbor died Jan. 23, 2001, in Tacoma.
She was born Jan. 11, 1947, in Upland, Calif., to Ray and Jean Grant.
She attended Port Orchard Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, David; a daughter, Roxanna Collins of Tacoma; a brother, Bill Grant of Carson, Nev.; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Port Orchard Church of Christ. Arrangements are under the direction of American Memorial.
Jessie Imlach
Jessie Elizabeth Imlach, 87, of Port Orchard died of cancer Jan. 20, 2001, in Port Orchard.
She was born Oct. 4, 1913, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada, to John and Frances (Doe) Grant.
She married
George Imlach on Oct. 1, 1949, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He preceded her in death in 1999.
She worked at Sears in Seattle for 26 years, retiring in 1975.
She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary Eagles of Seattle and the Lake Limmerick Landrovers.
Survivors include two daughters, Penny Howe of Port Orchard and Betty (Helen) Christofferson of Sammamish; and three grandchildren.
No service is planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.

Maurice Laflamme
Maurice Edward Laflamme II, 38, of Modesto, Calif., died Jan. 14, 2001, at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
He was born Aug. 13, 1962, in Vallejo, Calif., to Maurice and Elizabeth (Mahan) Laflamme. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1980.
He was the sales manager for a marine supply store in Modesto for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl; his mother, Phyllis Laflamme of Olalla; a son, Maurice Edward III of Modesto; a daughter, Jillian Laflamme of Modesto; and four brothers, Andre Laflamme of Port Orchard, Thomas Laflamme of Long Beach, David Bertoncini of Tacoma and Jeff Smith of Hughson, Calif.
A funeral service was held Jan. 18 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Modesto. Arrangements were under the direction of Lakewood Funeral Home of Hughson.

Russ Mayfield
Clifford "Russ" Mayfield, 30, of Bremerton died Jan. 24, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born June 24, 1970, in Bremerton to Thomas and Linda (Rotmark) Mayfield. He attended North Kitsap High School, West Sound Technical Skill Center and the North West Commercial Trucking School.
He married
Cally Smith on July 1, 1989, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
He worked for D. & M. Excavating and Parsons Brothers and Blossom Brothers.
He enjoyed the outdoors and four wheeling.
Survivors include his wife; his father and stepmother, Thomas and Sandy Mayfield of Poulsbo; his mother and stepfather, Linda and Bob Redford of Eugene, Ore.; a son, Raymond of Bremerton; a daughter, Krystina Mayfield of Bremerton; a sister, Carrie Mayfield of Bremerton; two stepbrothers, Tom Crowder of North Bend and Travis Crowder of Cle Elum; paternal grandmother and stepgrandfather, Mildred and Hank Henry of Bremerton; and maternal grandmother, Inas Rotmark of Bremerton.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove. Interment
will take place at Forest Lawn cemetery.
