Patrick Malone
Patrick Michael Malone, 50, of San Diego, Calif., died of natural causes Jan. 8, 2001, in San Diego.
He was born June 27, 1950, in Bremerton to William and Isabelle Malone. He was a 1969 graduate of East High School and attended Olympic College and Yale University.
He served as a U.S. Marine from 1972 to 1975 achieving the rank of sergeant E-5 and earned the National Defense Service Medal and two Meritorious Mast Medals.
He is survived by his mother, Isabelle of Bremerton; a son, Scott of Madison, Conn.; a sister, Lauren Newcomer, of Port Orchard; two grandchildren; and his former wife, Lorraine of Madison, Conn. He was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Woodrow.
A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lincoln Avenue Bible Church. Interment
will take place at Tahoma National cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bayview Cremation and Burial of San Diego.

Michael Jackson
Michael Douglas Jackson, 39, of Port Orchard died Jan. 22, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Oct. 29, 1961, in San Francisco. He graduated in 1980 from Upperlake High School in Upperlake, Calif., and attended Santa Rosa Junior College.
He was a groundskeeper for the South Kitsap School District for 15 years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his father of Port Orchard and two sisters, Deborah Remme and Catherine Jackson both of Sacramento.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church of Port Orchard.
Harry Snyder
Harry Brooks Snyder Jr., 81, of Bremerton died of cancer Jan. 22, 2001, in Bremerton.
He was born Feb. 26, 1920, in Portland, Ore., to Harry and Elizabeth Snyder.
He graduated from Estacada High School in Estacada, Ore., and from Portland State College.
He served in the Army from 1942 to 1945, achieving the rank of sergeant. He was awarded the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts.
Mr. Snyder later worked for Signal Corp. He was a member of Odd Fellows.
Survivors include a son, Harry of Juneau, Alaska. He was preceded in death by an adopted sister, Starlee Roberts.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Estacada.

Harold Johnston
Harold T. Johnston, 92, of Bremerton died Jan. 25, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born June 28, 1908, in Bonita, Wash., to James and Marie (Maney) Johnston.
He married
Vinita Milburn on Nov. 27, 1949, in Prosser.
Mr. Johnston was a refrigeration technician for 45 years, retiring in 1974.
He was a member of the Royal Checkmate Motorcycle Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 192 in Bremerton.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jimmy Smith of Bremerton; four daughters, Juanita Armstrong and Mary Urwin, both of Bremerton, Bonita Tolbert of Moxee and Faye Thompson of Molino, Fla.; 29 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Roy Johnston.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Monday at FOE Aerie 192, 205 Sixth St.

Jesse Welch
Jesse Omer Welch, 62, of Bremerton died of natural causes Jan. 23, 2001, at Naval Submarine Base Bangor.
He was born June 24, 1938, in Niles, Mich., to Jesse and Lillian (Fulkerth) Welch. He attended high school in Michigan and college in Texas.
He married
Marian Frank on June 16, 1963, in South Bend, Ind.
He served in the Navy from 1955 to 1977, achieving the rank of chief petty officer E-7. He was awarded the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation and a combat action ribbon.
He later was an electrician.
Mr. Welch served in numerous positions for the Boy Scouts of America for 37 years.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by his wife; his mother, Lillian of Christmas, Fla.; four sons, Jesse, David and Phillip all of Bremerton and Kevin of Rapid City, S.D.; three daughters, Christine Carrera of Mundelein, Ill., Kathleen Garten of Shoreline and Judy Welch of Bremerton; two brothers, Nathan and Omer, both of Niles; a sister, Tillie Drummond of Christmas; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday with the funeral following at 11:30 a.m., both at 2225 Perry Ave., in Bremerton. Interment
will be at National cemetery in Maple Valley.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.

Marian Harvey
Marian Alice Harvey, 54, of Poulsbo died of cancer Jan. 23, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born April 2, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Elmer and Grace (Gilmore) Fisher. She graduated in 1964 from Antioch High School in Antioch, Calif.
She married
Stephen Harvey on June 15, 1985, in Poulsbo.
She worked in accounts payable for Harrison Hospital for 18 years.
She enjoyed scrapbooking and rubber stamping.
She was a member of Redeemer United Methodist Church in Kingston.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Stephen of Poulsbo and David of Silverdale; two daughters, Tori Edwards of Poulsbo and Jennifer Roy of Bremerton; two sisters, Jean Harrell and Judy Hoye, both of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.

Norma Maiers
Norma June Maiers, 82, of Bremerton died Jan. 23, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Jan. 4, 1919, in Ontario, Ore., to Albert and Zula (Harmon) Christiansen. She was a 1938 graduate of Lincoln High School in Portland.
She married
William "Bill" Maiers on Dec. 29, 1979, in Bremerton.
She was a ward secretary at Harrison Hospital for 15 years, retiring in 1981.
She was a member of Manette Community Church and enjoyed teaching Bible and Sunday school.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Lynn Morris of Bremerton; a daughter, Paula Jackson of Bremerton; a brother, Gail Christiansen of El Cajon, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 33 years, David Morris, in 1971.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Feb. 2 at Manette Community Church. A private burial and interment will be held at Forest Lawn cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Lorraine Shaw
Lorraine Shaw, 79, of Poulsbo died Jan. 24, 2001, at Martha & Mary Health Care Center.
She was born Dec. 26, 1921, in Manitowoc, Wis., to John and Martha (Cichantek) Sepnafsky. She received her education in California.
She married
Sherman Shaw on Oct. 13, 1940, in Yuma, Ariz. He preceded her in death in 1994.
She worked in the aerospace industry for Hydo-Aire for 25 years, retiring in 1977.
She enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include a son, Lawrence of Havasu, Ariz.; a daughter, Beverly Starkovich of Hansville; a sister, Irene Rathsack of Santa Cruz, Calif.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A brother, Bernard Sepnafsky, also preceded her in death.
A graveside service is planned for11 a.m. Monday at Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Newhall, Calif. Local arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
Mary Rasor
Mary I. Rasor, 77, of Bremerton died Jan. 23, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Oct. 14, 1923, in Los Angeles to Otto and Edna (Gourlay) Larum. She graduated from Sedro Woolley High School and attended the University of Washington.
She married
Richard Rasor in Bremerton.
She worked in the business office at Harrison Hospital for 17 years.
She enjoyed gardening and watching Husky football.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Ronald, who lives overseas; a sister, Roberta Gallagher of Bremerton; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Patrick.
A memorial service is planned for 5 p.m. Wednesday at the family home. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Betty Johnson
Betty E. Johnson, 77, of Bremerton died Jan. 23, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Feb. 27, 1923, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Luther and Mildred (Greenleaf) Brown. She graduated in 1941 from Colorado Springs High School.
She married
William J. Koch in 1941. He was killed in World War II in 1944.
She then married
Fred C. Johnson in 1946. They divorced in 1979.
She was an instrument technician at Harrison Hospital for 21 years, retiring in 1988.
She was a member of the Bremerton Police Wives and the Bremerton Yacht Club Skipperettes.
Survivors include five sons, Richard Koch, Steven Johnson, Michael Johnson and David Johnson, all of Bremerton, and W. Jerry Koch of Colorado; a daughter, Patricia Haas of Bremerton; a sister, Mary Hilty of Colorado; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; She also was preceded in death by a brother, Jess Baker; and two sisters, Louise Garred and Janet Weissert.
A celebration of her life will be from noon to 4 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Bremerton Yacht Club. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
