Robert Gunderson
Robert "Bob" Wayne Gunderson, 64, of Bremerton died Jan. 12, 2001, at the University of Washington Hospital in Seattle.
He was born June 25, 1936, in Deschutes, Ore., to Robert and Louise Gunderson. He graduated in 1954 from Bend High School in Bend, Ore.
He served in the Air Force from 1954 to 1976, then worked in communications for ITT, retiring in 1993.
He married
Evellyn Hardy on March 7, 1994, on Bainbridge Island.
Mr. Gunderson enjoyed travel and spending time with his dog, KD.
Survivors include his wife; a stepson, M.E. Woody of Port Orchard; a daughter, Janie Williams of Murphysboro, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Kendra Machen of Port Orchard; two sisters, Sue Lande of West Seattle and Patricia Price of Newark, Ohio; and nine grandchildren.
A celebration of life is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 10 at his home in Port Orchard.

Margie Bradley-Gage
Margie Alma Bradley-Gage, 68, of Poulsbo died Jan. 19, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Aug. 26, 1932, in LaClede, Mo., to Stephen and Ocie (Dewitt) Eveland. She graduated in 1949 from Hood River High School in Troutdale, Ore.
She married
Elwyn Gage on Oct. 4, 1997, in Poulsbo.
She was a homemaker and co-business owner with her husband.
She enjoyed gardening and Bible study.
She was a member of Kingston Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, three daughters, Burnetta Whalen of Kennewick, Diane Sims of Yakima and Katie Mabe of Moxee; two sisters, Dorothy Bradley of Kingston and June Eveland of Libby, Mont.; two brothers, Floyd of Tygh Valley, Ore., and Nelson of Mesa; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Byron Bradley in 1995; and a son, Bryan Bradley, in 1990.
A memorial service is planned for Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Kingston Christian Church in Kingston. Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Memorial Park at 1 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary Stone Chapel.

Barbara Huston
Barbara M. Huston, 91, of Port Orchard died Jan. 16, 2001, at Twilight View Adult Family Home in Port Orchard.
She was born Jan. 4, 1910, in Anacortes. She received her bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Washington.
She was a teacher in Washington for more than 41 years. She taught at Darrington, Quilcene, Toutle-Lake, Skykomish and Snoqualmie high schools. She began teaching at Bremerton High School in 1941 and Olympic College in 1948 where she stayed until she retired in 1973.
Alphonse Coleman
Alphonse Coleman, 75, of Bremerton died Jan. 18, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Dec. 16, 1925, in Winasboro, La., to Fred and Nettie (King) Coleman.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a steward's mate first class from 1994 to 1996. He earned the Victory Medal.
He married
Queen Ester Oatis on Nov. 20, 1971 in Bremerton. She preceded him in death in 1991.
Mr. Coleman was a pipefitter for 35 years, retiring in 1989.
He enjoyed stamp collecting and gardening.
He attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Alphonse of Anchorage, Alaska, and Avery of San Bernardino, Calif.; two daughters, Gracie Wilson of Shreveport, La., and Dorothy Coleman of Springfield, Mass., a brother, Elmo of San Francisco; two sisters, Dorothy Warfield and Willie Mae Blalock of Stockton, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Willie.
Visitation is planned from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Anthony DeMello
Anthony Ray DeMello, 46, of Bremerton died Jan. 16, 2001, at his home.
He was born Jan. 11, 1955, in Bremerton to George and Velda (Bunn) DeMello. He graduated in 1973 from East Bremerton High School.
He enjoyed photo-graphy and skiing.
He was a Christian.
Survivors include two sons, Richard of Juneau, Alaska, and Brian of Bremerton; and a daughter, Christina of Bremerton.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Crematory.
Kathleen Blust
Kathleen A. Blust, 72, of Port Orchard, died Jan. 21, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Feb. 16, 1928, in Renton to Charles and Mary (Sampii) Kinnune. She graduated from Grand Coulee High School in 1946.
Survivors include a son, Gregory of Port Orchard; a daughter, Susan Heath of Port Angeles; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband M. Dean Blust in 1988.
A memorial service is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Port Orchard. A funeral is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home in Spokane. Interment
will be in Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Ronald Wyatt
Ronald Glen Wyatt, 38, of Belfair died of cancer Jan. 19, 2001, at Madigan Hospital.
He was born Aug. 19, 1962, in Salisburg, Mo., to George and Helen (Christian) Wyatt.
He married
Michelle Compeau on Jan. 5, 2000.
He was in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, retiring in 2000.
He enjoyed personal watercraft and four-wheeling.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, Helen Brown; a son, Ronald Jr. of California; a brother, Jimmy; and a sister, Kay Kibler.
Visitation is planned from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at McComb Funeral Home. A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hope Chapel. Interment
will be at Shelton Memorial Park in Shelton. Arrangements are under the direction of McComb Funeral Home.
Leonard Couch
Former Bremerton resident Leonard F. Couch, 84, of Richland died Jan. 15, 2001, in Richland.
He was born Nov. 7, 1916, in Leeper, Mo., to John and Maxine (Tyrey) Couch. He graduated in 1934 from De Soto High School in De Soto, Mo.
He served in the Navy from 1937 to 1940.
He married
Helen Hurd on Jan. 1, 1940, in Crocker Lake.
He was a machinist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard 35 years, retiring in 1973.
He was a member of the Elks, Masons and Eastern Star.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Daniel of Richland; two daughters, Nadean Wick of Harstine Island and Karen Collins of Alpine, Texas; three brothers, Fred of Mentone, Calif., John of Kolona, Iowa, and George of Fenton, Mo.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Hubert of Bremerton.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Monday at the Bremerton Elks Club. Private interment will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of Einan's Funeral Home in Richland.

James Waters
South Colby resident James Elmer Waters, 98, died Jan. 15, 2001, at his home.
He was born May 28, 1902, to Hiram J. and Stella Irene Waters in Oklahoma territory.
He married
Myrtle Anderson on March 20, 1931, in Tacoma. She died Oct. 6, 1966. On Nov. 23, 1967, Mr. Waters married
Ella Mae Chester. She died Oct. 30, 1989.
He is survived by four sons, Gordon of South Colby, Donald of Pasco, Bill Arnesen of Olympia and Dale Arnesen of Oroville; and a sister, Glenna Brown of Olympia.
Services will be private.

Floyd Fitzwater
Floyd Elmer Fitzwater, 67, of Bremerton died Jan. 16, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born in Bremerton on Jan. 21, 1933, to Don and Ida (Asseltine) Fitzwater. He was a 1952 graduate of Central Kitsap High School.
Mr. Fitzwater served in the Navy from 1952 to 1956, achieving the rank of E-5 and earning the National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Medal.
He later was a household mover for Bekins and a heavy equipment operator.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Ward of Snohomish and Mary Turner of Bremerton; three brothers, Harold of Shelton, Louis of Illahee and Lawrence of Seabeck.
At his request, no service will be held. Family and friends are invited to share memories of Floyd from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the home of Mary Turner. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Paul Birks
Paul S. Birks, 81, of Port Angeles died Jan. 12, 2001, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born March 21, 1919, in Tacoma to Sydney and Naomi (Holaday) Birks. He graduated in 1937 from Ballard High School and attended the University of Washington.
He married
Dorothy Woods on Nov. 30, 1948, in Tacoma. She preceded him in death in 1975.
He was a sheet metal worker at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard during World War II, then with Holaday & Edworthy Sheet Metal from 1946 to 1968. He returned to the shipyard and retired in 1971.
He enjoyed fishing and hiking.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Birks of Port Angeles, Linda Butorajac of Federal Way and Beverly Parrish of Silverdale; a brother, William of Edmonds; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A cryptside committal service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at Tacoma Mausoleum. Entombment will take place there. Local arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
